A title update to the Xbox 360 version of Fallout: New Vegas, to prepare the game for the upcoming Honest Hearts DLC should not be accepted until a replacement update goes live later this evening, Bethesda Softworks said.
The update currently being served freezes gamesave data, making it unplayable. That's kind of a bitch, especially if you've put 40 hours of work into this.
Bethesda spotted the problem after the original update went live earlier today, then advised gamers to reject that outright. A playable update for English versions of the game should go live later tonight, Bethesda said. Updates in other languages will take a little longer. "When we have a better estimate of what that will be, we'll let you know," the studio says. The update will unfreeze any bricked gamesave.
Bethesda is posting updates on the situation at the link below; you can check in there. When the fix is reported we'll update here.

Given "a few days in the Mojave," one fan of Fallout: New Vegas decided to construct his visit around the game, searching out real-world locations that inspired the in-game scenery. The lone wanderer, one Chris Worth of the United Kingdom, even constructed a Pip-Boy (with admittedly 'shopped map screen) and Power Fist.
Designers from Obsidian, the game's studio, took their own trips to the desert to photograph and scout loctions, so Worth drew on that information to plan his route. Of course, visiting any vaults, or subterranean features or other notable topological formations was out as many were constructed 100 percent for the game. But from Freeside (Fremont Street) to Camp McCarran (Las Vegas McCarran International Airport) and even The Devil's Throat (a massive sinkhole IRL), Worth's travelogue pairs screenshots alongside their real-world counterparts.

Back in January, a trademark filing hinted that "Honest Hearts" would succeed "Dead Money" as Fallout: New Vegas' second DLC extension. A few screengrabs of a video briefly uploaded by Fallout maker Bethesda Softworks verifies that as the title and gives the briefest and tiniest of glimpses at its visuals.
A Bethesda forum user who subscribes to Bethesda's YouTube channel was sent an email notification about a new video uploaded - the trailer for Honest Hearts. The video, however, was set to private, then removed.
This is the link for the trailer, should Bethesda set it to public.
In January, The Vault (the Fallout wiki) noted that a graffiti file found in "Dead Money" referred to a "Burned Man" - Joshua Graham, and New Canaan. Graham was originally created as "The Hanged Man" and he and New Canaan were to appear in the version of Fallout 3 that Black Isle had been developing, canceled in 2003.

Hate the sunglasses, think the short film isn't half bad! Titled "Temporary Status", the short was inspired by Fallout.
The flick was made from start to finish in under 48 hours, including all writing, filming, set and prop creation, special effects and editing. It's an entry in this year's Sci-Fi London Film Challenge.

When the trailer for a fan movie about Fallout was released a few weeks back, I was...sceptical. Which was stupid, because the movie is now out, and it's actually pretty damn good.
The short film is called "Nuka Break", and is about the journey of a Vault survivor, his Ghoul pal Ben and a former slave to...find a stash of ice-cold Nuka Cola.
There's obviously not much Nuka Cola left in the post-apocalyptic wastelands of the Fallout universe, so instead, they spend most of their time shooting at people, wandering the desert and exploring the intricacies of Fallout's open-ended mission completion structure.
The flick was directed by Julian Higgins & Zack Finfrock and written by Brian Clevinger.

Thank you, Kai Norman, for this incredible costume, which well and truly brings those badass Rangers of Fallout's New California Republic to life.
The armour is hand-cut out of foam, the mask is assembled out of pieces of plastic and even the coat was sewn together. Handy work.
Then again, in the dark, desolate deserts of the future, there are no seamstresses and no mask shops, so these are handy skills to have!
You can check out the complete journal of the costume's build here, and Kai's deviantArt page can be found here.
If you're going to try and survive a post-apocalyptic wasteland, you may as well do it in style.
This hand-made, custom helmet is a pretty good replica of that worn by Fallout's Brotherhood of Steel, down to the weathered appearance and working headlamp.
It's the work of artist Josh Jay.

Rooting through paperwork, a NeoGAF poster found three trademark filings by ZeniMax Media, parent of Bethesda Softworks, maker of Fallout: New Vegas. One corresponds to a name from a graffiti file (pictured) like one that tipped off December's "Dead Money" DLC.
"Honest Hearts" is one of the trademark applications, and the one that is matched by the graffiti file, according to The Vault, (the game's wiki volume). The other two names that were filed, "Lonesome Road" and "Old World Blues" could either be future projects or red herrings.
The Vault notes that the Honest Hearts graffiti refers to Joshua Graham - "The Burned Man" - and New Canaan. Graham was originally created as "The Hanged Man" and he and New Canaan were to appear in the version of Fallout 3 that Black Isle had been developing, canceled in 2003.
