It’s time to celebrate the year of the Tiger with Dead by Daylight’s latest event: Lurking Stripes. In celebration of the Lunar New Year, we’re bringing exciting offerings, unlockable cosmetics and charms, limited-time gameplay items, and daily login rewards to enjoy.
Lurking Stripes begins on January 25th, 2 PM EST and run until February 8th, 2 PM EST.
A LIGHT IN THE FOG
Though nothing beats a bit of good-old-fashioned horror atmosphere, sometimes a little festivity can go a long way. For the duration of the Lurking Stripes event, generators and hooks will be adorned with Lunar-themed decorations befitting of the tiger’s imposing – and regal – stature.
EXCLUSIVE ITEMS & OFFERINGS
For the duration of Lurking Stripes, you’ll find new limited-time Survivor items in the Bloodweb: The Lunar Firecracker and the Lunar Toolbox. There’s also a mysterious new Offering, the Red Envelope, usable by both Killers and Survivor.
THE RED ENVELOPE
Players might have noticed that our events bring a new gameplay experience into the fold. In the case of Lurking Stripes, the main objective centres around the Red Envelope, an offering available in the Bloodweb for a limited time.
HOW TO USE: - Upon burning a Red Envelope Offering, a Red Envelope viewable to all players will spawn in the Trial. For players who burn Red Envelopes, the aura of their respective Envelopes will be visible to them.
- The owner can interact with Envelope it to reveal it. Upon doing so, a sound effect will be heard throughout the trial and the Envelope’s aura will be revealed to all players.
- An Envelope can be opened and claimed by another player. When claimed, both that player and the Envelope’s owner receive a surprise Bloodpoint reward, with the owner also receiving a Lunar Event cosmetic. Be sure to bring plenty of Red Envelopes to increase your chances of unlocking two charms and all eight cosmetic rewards.
LUNAR GEAR
As fellow gamers, we know and love the thrill of unlockable gear. The Lurking Stripes Event has you covered, with earnable cosmetic rewards for David King, Jane Romero, Kate Denson, The Trapper, The Clown, The Nurse, and The Artist. All you must do is participate in the Red Envelope gameplay detailed above, and soon enough your wardrobe will be brimming with splendid attire.
HOW CHARMING
Each year brings new possibilities, with milestones met and memories made. To commemorate the upcoming Lunar New Year and all it holds in store, we’re offering two brand new charms highlighting the tiger. Wear them with pride – they look equally majestic on your belt and your hook.
THE DAILY BOUNTY
To help you stock up on Lunar items and Offerings, we’ve made the process a little bit easier by gifting 50k daily Bloodpoints for the duration of the event.
EARN YOUR STRIPES
The Lurking Stripes Collection introduces a new outfit for Yui Kimura, a Survivor known for her courage and unbreakable spirit. Behold her new Lunar Race Championship outfit, the perfect blend of intimidation and elegance. Be sure to check out the tiger-inspired ensemble over at Dead by Daylight’s in-game store.

The Player Test Build is an early build of the final release available through a BETA-branch of the Steam version of Dead by Daylight.
As with all early builds, there are some bugs and known issues that the team is already working on. Please check our list in the Patch Notes before playing, and leave us your feedback and additional bug reports in the links down below!
A key piece of horror history is joining Dead by Daylight’s expansive roster. Prepare for Ringu to spread its curse across The Fog, with a new Chapter inspired by Kōji Suzuki’s novel and the original acclaimed film adaptation.
Kōji Suzuki’s Ring, originally published in 1991, began the haunting story of a spreading curse and its doomed victims. In 1998, the novel was adapted into a Japanese feature film of the same name (widely known as Ringu to North American audiences) instantly adding a new presence into the pantheon of cinematic horror icons.
The premise alone is chilling. A video that, upon viewing, promises death in seven days. A disturbing fate, worsened by the contorted faces of the victims. The global influence of this Japanese franchise remains undeniable, and we’re thrilled to celebrate its induction into the horror Hall of Fame that is Dead by Daylight.
“We are very excited for the collaboration with Behaviour Interactive and the Dead by Daylight team,” says Kadokawa producer Reiko Imayasu. “We’ll be sending one of our most haunting characters to the Fog to pour down horrors that will rival all the great predecessors. Fans should beware of their heart; this deadly newcomer will definitely strike them, and they will tremble with fear whilst they wait.”
Ringu introduced images that have long haunted horror fans, fuelling the nightmares of audiences across the world. Many can surely recall those nights reading the novel or watching its adaptation, where a ringing telephone was swiftly followed by a wave of icy terror.
And if the television happened to flicker...
Suffice it to say, stepping into the eerie and melancholic world of Ringu opens the door for countless exciting possibilities. Alas, you'll have to wait a little longer than seven days for more info on Dead by Daylight's upcoming chapter – but don’t let that stop your imagination from running wild. “Well, the only thing I can say is that this new chapter will leave a mark,” teases Creative Director Dave Richard. “A real heart-pounding experience. Tell a friend, or else...”
It goes without saying that survival won’t be easy, so be sure to hone those skills throughout the Holiday season. In the meantime, keep one eye out for Dead by Daylight’s foray into the rich world of Ringu, emerging from the well in March 2022...

Behold the Portrait of a Murder. The Dead by Daylight Chapter includes a new Killer – The Artist – and a new Survivor, Jonah Vasquez. The new Forsaken Boneyard Realm will be opened for all players. Purchasing this add-on also unlocks an exclusive cosmetic for Jonah: The Crimson Shirt.
The new Killer is The Artist. Carmina Mora’s surrealist paintings were both compelling and controversial. After a brutal encounter left her maimed, The Artist was taken by The Entity. Twisted into a grotesque vessel of vengeance, she turned anyone in her path into carrion for the flock.
The new Survivor is Jonah Vasquez. Deciphering math equations and the secrets within was second nature for the seasoned codebreaker. Now, he sees the ominous truth at every turn. A formula pointing to a haunting reality beyond comprehension. But as Vasquez knows better than most, there’s strength in numbers.
The Portrait of a Murder Chapter includes:
A new Killer: The Artist
A new Survivor: Jonah Vasquez
An exclusive item for Jonah: Crimson Shirt
Available to all players is also the new Chapter map: Eyrie of Crows. The chance of being sent to the Eyrie of Crows map will be increased for the first week of its release.
Time stands still in the Forsaken Boneyard Realm – but you’d be wise to keep moving. The Portrait of a Murder Chapter is available now.
It's been an incredible 5 years (and counting!) for Dead by Daylight. You can now nominate Dead by Daylight in the "Labor of Love" category for the Steam Awards.
Nominations are open until this Wednesday, December 1st (10AM PST). The Entity might be very pleased.
We have a deployed a small patch to the Player Test Build to address a crashing issue. This update will not affect matchmaking: You will be able to match with other players whether or not they have updated.
You may receive an error while matchmaking on the PTB. If this happens to you, requeuing will fix the issue.
Disabled an animation restriction that caused many boon totems to be unsnuffable by the killer due to the placement of the totems.
Dev Note: We intend to re-enable this in a future patch, once we have had time to located and reposition all offending totems so that they play nice. This will result in some totems being snuffable through collision, but we are erring on the side of caution to ensure that all totems can be snuffed by the killer until then. Enjoy it while it lasts, Killer Mains!
BUG FIXES
Fixed an issue that caused the archive widget to appear without any challenge selected when there would be a challenge selected in the tome page.
Fixed an issue that caused the purchased survivor to be unlocked and no Auric Cells to be spent after getting a "Purchase Failed" error in the store.
Fixed an issue that caused the player to be able to level up two character Bloodwebs at the same time.
Fixed an issue that caused Survivors using the Clairvoyance perk to be able to push other players.
Fixed an issue that caused the interaction bar not to become red when blessing a hex totem.
Fixed an issue that may cause reverse bear traps installed by the Pig's Video Tape add-on not to kill survivors when the timer runs out.
Fixed an issue that may cause survivors to be unable to move when a generator is completed when the Pig has the Video Tape add-on equipped.
Fixed an issue that caused the Adrenaline perk not to trigger if the Survivor was not eligible to receive the effect when the exit gates are powered.
Fixed an issue that caused the grass and foliage to become partially black as players walk through.
Fixed a potential wrong active node state in the Archives.
Fixed an issue that caused survivors repeatedly scream when crouching while being puked on.
Switch only:
Fixed a text overlapping issue in the Keybinding menu.
Fixed a performance issue in docked state by deactivating the menu movement when moving the cursor.
Fixed an issue that could cause an excessively long / infinite loading screen.
KNOWN ISSUES
The Killer can only earn 1 point of progress per Tangled Hook for the Halloween Hook challenge.
When completing a level in the Archives, the level status is not immediately refreshed. However leaving and re-entering the menu will refresh and reflect the completed status.
We are aware of an issue with the perk Clairvoyance, where the effects may not be disabled in some cases
A Survivor with an activated Clairvoyance can consume another Survivor's activated Clairvoyance when they are close to each other.
We have deployed a small update to Steam to test a potential fix to infinite loading screens. Downloading this update will not affect crossplay: You will still be able to match with other platforms.
Bug Fixes
Tentatively fixed an issue which could cause players to get stuck in an infinite loading screen.
