The Holiday Season has been a real hit. More than 500.000 fireworks have been launched and about 501.000 furry trouts caught. In rough numbers that would make enough fur to produce some 14.000 Fur coats and Jackets! Wow, that's a lot! But there's even more to that - you guys have spent about 1000 in-game years having fun on the White Moose Lake.
Now, it is high time to move forward and tell you what we have been cooking while you enjoyed Canadian Vacation. And we have to tell you that we've been working hard. The list of features we shall be posting below is what we currently have under development (some features are already done).
It is too early to share any ETA's but it is going to take not less than a month to enter CBT phase for the mentioned features.
This is going to be a big leap for Fishing Planet, we are going to re-balance some things from scratch and in a good way this is going to be a different and more interesting, open and diversified game with teams and clubs letting you compete in a fair game and win some valuable prizes becoming famous worldwide as virtual pro-anglers! =)
In coming weeks we shall be sharing additional details on each feature and report our progress. Stay tuned!

If you started playing Fishing Planet, you already know that different States and certain fish species require obtaining a fishing license. In this article we’ll tell you all you need to know about how the licenses work, understanding the risks of getting fined, and the changes we plan to introduce to the licensing system in the near future.
Firstly, you should ALWAYS get a license. Period. If you’re going on a fishing trip you should get at least a Basic fishing license (just like you would IRL). Some fish will inevitably die after getting hooked even if you let them go. This is the main reason why fishing without a license is prohibited!
If you have no license, you’ll get fined. Of course, there’s always a slight chance that you may not. But that depend entirely on whether you’re lucky enough not to get caught. You are free to take the risk, but the chances of getting fined are rather high. Fines differ from state to state and depend on the fish in question.
It’s also important to understand your license. Some players tend to go fishing without taking a look at the license description first, not knowing which fish they shouldn’t catch. Always read the license description to know your restrictions and limitations!
To check your licenses just go to your Inventory and click on the Licenses tab.
Another way is to look at the color of the License icons when selecting your travel destination. Red means that you have no license for catching that fish; yellow implies that the fish must be released if caught; whereas a green License icon means there are no restrictions whatsoever.
If you disregard this and decide to go fishing without a license anyway, you’ll get a warning as shown in the picture below.
After traveling to a certain State, you can check which licenses you have before going fishing to a particular location. Your licenses and their expiration dates/times are displayed on the bottom left of the State’s map screen.
If after all these warnings you choose to proceed fishing without a license, upon catching a prohibited fish you’ll get another warning as reminder that you may get fined.
If you don’t want to take your chances, you should go straight to the Local Shop and obtain a fishing license.
As you can see, the licensing system is quite simple and logical. Nevertheless, we plan on introducing certain changes, based on your requests.
In the near future we will introduce an additional warning that will pop up 5-10 mins prior to the License expiry, so that you will have time to prolong it. We also plan on clarifying certain text messages to make it easier for you to understand which fish exactly you can get fined for.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, we’ll be happy to hear them out. Just write your thoughts in the comments below!
