Indie developer Anders Lundbjörk has released the latest video in his "... but for PS1" series - and this time, it's for The Witcher 3.
Do you want to see more of Geralt soaking in the tub? Of course you do. Just don't get too excited - there really aren't enough pixels on show for that.
Re-imagining video games as retro classics is the point of this series, which has so far also recreated (de-created?) scenes from Oblivion and Cyberpunk 2077 (no jokes about its console version looking the same, please).
Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt has announced a Kickstarter funding program for a new The Witcher board game.
The Witcher: Old World will be a prequel to the studio's Geralt of Rivia game trilogy, in which players become a young Witcher of their own making and set off to battle monsters.
As in the games - and Netflix's TV show - you'll take on contracts, face difficult choices, and possibly have to duff up other Witchers from time to time. Here's a video from the game's developer Lukasz Wozniak explaining more:
UPDATE 11/2/21: The auction of stolen CD Projekt source code has been closed, a report from darknet intel service KELA has now claimed, as a "satisfying offer" was accepted. It's not clear how much the source code was sold for, though the purchaser is said to have paid enough they could stipulate the data would not be distributed or sold further.
Earlier this week, CD Projekt said it would not participate with ransom demands or negotiate to regain its data.
ORIGINAL STORY 10/2/21: Stolen source code for Cyberpunk 2077, free-to-play card-battler Gwent, and an unreleased version of The Witcher 3 are reportedly already up for auction after developer CD Projekt refused to cave in to ransom demands by hackers following a breach of its servers.
CD Projekt has released a statement explaining it's been the victim of a "targeted cyber attack," with some of its internal systems compromised.
On Twitter the company explained an unidentified actor had breached its systems and collected data belonging to CD Projekt, and was now threatening to release the contents. CD Projekt said some of its devices had been encrypted by the attack, but that company backups remain intact and it is in the process of restoring its data.
Unusually, CD Projekt also released a copy of the ransom note sent by the unidentified actor. They claim to have gained access to "the source codes from [CD Projekt's] Perforce server for Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Gwent and the unreleased version of Witcher 3". They also claim to have gained access to "all of [CD Projekt's] documents relating to accounting, administration, legal, HR, investor relations and more," although the exact nature of these isn't detailed. The note demands CD Projekt contact the sender, or face the public release of the source codes and documents.
Netflix has announced the first cast for The Witcher prequel series Blood Origin.
Jodie Turner-Smith, who starred in Queen & Slim and Nightflyers, plays Éile, "a fierce warrior with the voice of a goddess".
The six-part live action limited series is a prequel story set 1200 years before Geralt and the events we're familiar with from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski's books, CD Projekt's games and the Henry Cavill Netflix show. It tells the story of the first Witcher prototype and the Conjunction of the Spheres.
Netflix has published page one of The Witcher season two script.
The page reveals the opening scene of the hotly-anticipated second season of The Witcher series.
It doesn't reveal much, apart from a rather gruesome killing of a merchant and his wife at the hands of some mysterious foe. The scene ends with their daughter heading off to a mansion, screaming for help.
Picture it: you're in a neon-lit bar in Cyberpunk 2077, ordering a retro-future drink, when the barman says something that fires your memory. It's not the words, it's the voice, those gravelly tones, that deadpan way of speaking. It's so familiar. Where have you heard it before? Then it lands: Geralt of Rivia! The barman has the same voice as Geralt in the The Witcher video games. And - no, it can't be a coincidence - he's called Gerry?!
It seemed like a cameo opportunity too good to miss. Even Doug Cockle, the English voice of Geralt in The Witcher games, was up for it. "Absolutely!" he told me when we met a few years ago, and I wrote a piece about him.
"I have joked with [CD Projekt Red] about bringing me in as an Easter egg. I've jokingly said, 'You've gotta bring me in as a bartender the player has to interact with for at least one quest. A bartender named Gerry who has some waiting staff, Trisha or Jenny or something like that.'"
"[Geralt] caught sight of Regis looking at him intently. 'Is that a fresh injury?'
"'Not really. But it's tormenting me. Do you have any herbs capable of soothing the pain?'"

UPDATE 07/10/20: We've seen Geralt's fancy new ab armour, but the teaser images for Season 2 of The Witcher didn't stop there, as photos of Ciri and Yennefer have also been released.
The images of Ciri shared on Instagram show the character has undergone a fair transformation in the second season, with actress Freya Allan having swapped the princess robes for a sword and a rather intense look. Seems like Ciri's getting ready to begin her transformation into the fierce fighter we know her to be in The Witcher 3.
Yennefer, meanwhile, is not looking like she's not having a brilliant time, with the photos shared on The Witcher Twitter account showing her chained up and wounded from battle. Will she manage to wriggle her way out of trouble? Knowing Yen, most likely.
