FAQ
Can I continue the campaign started in the original game?
No, you will have to start a new campaign. But the quality of the new gaming experience is worth it.

Will my old campaigns be deleted?
No, they will be kept. You can disable the expansion at any time and continue the old campaigns in the original game.

Will the expansion be released on consoles?
It depends on our console publisher. At the moment, they have shown no interest in porting the expansion. But hopefully, this may change in the future. The expansion Football Stars will be available on November 12. In this post, I will write about all its changes, improvements and new mechanics.


GIFTEDNESS
  • Now each footballer is also characterized by Giftedness (value from 0 to 5).
  • Giftedness affects the experience footballers gain and skill potential in a match.
  • Skill Potential is a new global mechanic that affects the performance of skills in a match. It also affects the Headers and the effectiveness of the wing defenders.
  • Motivation increases the skill potential (in addition to increasing the attributes).
  • Wherever the footballer's level is displayed, the rate of gaining experience is also displayed (which depends on his current level and Giftedness).
  • The Giftedness of the footballers who leave the Youth Academies depends on the rank of the country in which the team plays. This applies to both the player's team and the AI ​​teams.

STATISTICS
  • The Statistics button has been added to the Tournaments screen. When you click this button, the detailed statistics screen of the selected tournament opens. There you will find a wealth of information about the best clubs, the best footballer, the most interesting matches, etc. For continental tournaments, there are additional statistics about the participation of different countries.
  • There is a button on the tournament statistics screen that opens the possibility to view the league standings for each season. Available for all leagues.
  • When you enter your club screen, you will see two new global tabs with a huge amount of historical statistics for your club. There you will find information about your best footballers, the most interesting matches, the statistics of each of your footballers, including those who have already left the club, action zones in matches, penalties, wins and losses, cards, injuries, scoring methods used, etc.
  • There you will also find detailed statistics on Money earned and spent, Glory and Fans. By clicking on the 'i' buttons for the current season, you can see more detailed statistics. For example, you can see current sponsors, footballers sold and bought, etc.
  • Also some general statistics have been added to the screen of each AI club. So you can investigate how other clubs live.
  • Now one best footballer of the match is selected for each match (previously the game selected the best player for each team). Also added a separate screen which shows the top-3 best footballers. At the end of the season, you can get Glory if your footballer is on this list.
  • After each match, the journalists now make up the Team of the Round. It depends both on the effectiveness of a footballer in the match and on his strength as a whole. You get fans for every your footballer in this team. If you provided more footballers to this team than other clubs, you also earn Glory.
  • At the end of the season, each tournament will have a Team of the Season. It consists of the footballers who were nominated to the Team of the Round most of the times.
  • Now you can go to the Countries screen, select any country and open the standings for that country at any time.
  • Also for each country, you can see the statistics of the teams that have earned the most trophies.
  • Now you can see a list of all matches in the current season for any tournament and any country. To see this list, change the view of the Tournaments screen (arrows left and right at the bottom of the screen).
  • Before the match, you can click the Head-to-Head button to see detailed statistics of all the times your club played against the next opponent.
  • You can select any club in the standings or in the fixtures, and by clicking the Head-to-Head button, you can see the statistics of play against this club.
  • On the match results screen, you can select any club, and by clicking the Head-to-Head button, you can see detailed statistics of the plays between the two clubs for which you are currently watching the match results. That is, for example, even if you play in the Amateur League, you can open the results of a European Cup match, find a match between Barcelona and Liverpool, select one of these clubs, and see the entire history of plays between Barcelona and Liverpool. Usually, after 5-10 seasons, interesting data accumulates. Moreover, you can even go to another country's match results and see the history of plays between any pair of clubs in the selected country.
  • At the end of the season, detailed statistics for all tournaments you have participated in that season are shown. Previously, such statistics were only displayed in the hot seat mode. Now we have expanded it significantly and added it to the single-player game.
  • After each match, more statistics are now shown: interesting matches, footballers, etc. Also in a separate tab, you can see the statistics of the performance of your footballers in the last match.
  • Redesigned the Career screen. More historical data is now shown (cards, injuries, etc.). It also now displays how much money the footballers was sold for.
  • The Player's Profile screen has been improved. More data added. Also, now you can separate the statistics for all time from the statistics for the time spent in your club.
  • Added ability to sort league tables by all parameters (goals, wins, etc.).
  • Added the ability to sort the country ranking table for each season separately.

TRANSFERS
  • Now you can send scouts to other countries. The higher the country's position in the ranking, the stronger (and more expensive) footballers play there.
  • Now you can open the screen of any club, select a footballer and try to buy him. But the cost in Money and Glory will be significantly higher than if it was put on the transfers. Some footballers are very important to their clubs, so you will need to pay extra Glory just to get the club ready to discuss the sale of the footballer with you.
  • Other clubs can study your footballers, find those they really need and ask you to sell them. Moreover, they will offer a higher price than the footballer is worth. You can ask for even more, and if you're lucky, the cost of the footballer can triple (or get even higher).
  • Now, when selling a footballer, in most cases, 3 options are shown (before, there was only one option). Moreover, club offers may vary. Some clubs can offer less Money but additionally give Glory. And some clubs can offer more Money but split the payment into two parts (the second part will come at the beginning of the next transfer window).
  • Now, the more upgraded are your scouts, the cheaper are the footballers in the transfer lists. You can build a strategy through transfers and get quite cheap and good footballers from there.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND COACHES
  • The mechanics of infrastructure and staff have been reworked. Now, in order to hire staff, you must have a corresponding building built. Each building gives the opportunity to make a different number of staff upgrades.
  • New buildings: Medical Centre (each level gives 2 personnel upgrades), Scout Centre (each level gives 2 personnel upgrades), Training Grounds (each level gives 5 personnel upgrades)
  • Added two youth coaches. One coach improves the attributes of the young footballers, the other one gives more experience to the young footballers after the matches.
  • Added two medics. One medic reduces the duration of injuries, the second one reduces the likelihood of injury.
  • Now the experience of a bench coach is not combined with that of a class coach. After the match, the footballer receives the experience of each of the coaches separately.
  • The experience given by different coaches has been rebalanced.

CARDS AND SUSPENSIONS
  • Now cards are issued separately for each tournament. In the footballer's profile, you can see which tournaments the cards have been issued for.
  • Receiving two yellow cards in different matches will result in a one-match suspension.
  • At the beginning of a new season, all cards are reset.
  • Single yellow cards are also reset after the quarterfinals of cup tournaments (including continental tournaments).

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
  • Top clubs are now more intelligently looking for the footballers they need on transfers.
  • Teams have learned to use more varied (and more complex) formations.
  • The top clubs have learned how to select formations that work well against your tactics (provided the club has the right footballers).
  • Teams have learned to make substitutions in the matches.
  • Teams learned to change formation during the matches.
  • AI is now much better at corners and also much better at defending during corners.

GAME MODES
  • Added the Iron Manager mode. You cannot replay matches in this mode. If the player exits with Alt + F4, he will receive a technical defeat 3:0. An achievement is provided for using this mode.
  • In the Hard mode, the skill's potential more depends on Giftedness. Therefore, now the Hard mode has become more difficult not only economically, but also in gameplay (which I personally love very much).
  • 25 new achievements.

CHANGES TO THE SPECIALIZATION TREE
  • Added a new branch of specialization: 'Stamina'. With this branch, you can increase the stamina recovery of a footballer, as well as reduce the likelihood of injuries and cards.
  • Previously, when a footballer has learned the 'Talent' specialization group, the speed of training the next skill decreased by 2 months. Now, for learning this group, the footballer's skill potential is increased by 1 (in Hard mode - by 2).
  • Now the Fan Favorite gives additional Glory if a footballer is included in the Team of the Round (or Team of the Season) instead of additional fans (which led to their uncontrolled growth).

VISUAL
  • Added animations of the celebrations when your team wins a tournament (or promotes to the higher stage of a cup tournament). Also, added the animations of regret when your team loses in a cup tournament.
  • Now, you will be able to see the referee giving a card and footballers to be injured. Also, you will be able to see how footballers enter the pitch and leave it when you perform substitutions.
  • Reworked the animation of the ball flying into the goal. Now the goals look more varied, interesting and realistic.

SOUND AND MUSIC
  • Added 10 new musical tracks.
  • Now, the crowd noise depends on the size of the stadium and on the number of the fans on the stands.
  • On some biggest stadiums, the contextual fan reactions are added.

TUTORIALS
  • Added new tests to the Coach license.
  • The articles of Footballpedia have been updated and new ones have been added. Updated and new articles have a "New" or "Updated" icon.
  • Added class icons to Footballpedia (to make it easier to find information about them).

QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
Match
  • Now you can simulate the started match to the end at any moment. This comes in handy when you are confidently winning or losing and want to save time.
  • The post-match statistics screen has been improved. Now goals are better visible there, assistants and injury durations are displayed.
  • Added the names of the kicker and goalkeeper during the penalties.

Out of the matches
  • Before the match, next to the crests of the participating clubs, it is displayed whether any of these clubs is a current champion in any tournament. Icons are also displayed if one of the clubs is a bogey team/ easy rival /constant rival for the other club.
  • Added information about the interest from other clubs for all footballers on the Contracts screen.
  • On the Opponent's screen before the match, the stars of the strength of your team and the opposing team are now displayed.
  • The Opponent screen has been moved to the first tab. If there is no match that day, the screen looks like the Squad screen. If there is a match, then - like the Opponent screen.
  • Now every time the game is saving, this process is displayed.

Other
  • In the hot seat mode, we added a match statistics to the substitutions screen (same as already was made for the single-player campaign).

BALANCE
We've reviewed every single element of the game's actual balance and made adjustments to make the game more interesting. In the lists below, I will highlight only the most noticeable changes.

Match
  • Precision Shot has become even more powerful, since now during its execution the defence of opponents is reduced not by 20, but by 40%. Previously, this action was rarely used, it was only suitable for certain tactics. Now it will be used much more often.
  • If a footballer receives a red card, the attributes of all footballers of that team are reduced by 15%.
  • Goalkeepers can now receive red cards.
  • Now, when taking a penalty kick, the Accuracy attribute is used instead of Control.
  • If a goalkeeper stays not on his zone, the penalty is increased from 50 to 85%.

Game modes
  • The balance of the starting number of fans in the Sandbox has been changed. Earlier in the early game, the lower leagues had a huge fan base, so you didn't have to worry when they left. Now the number is more in line with the position of the team in the league.
  • In Hard mode, the age of the footballers at the start of the campaign has been increased. In addition, the balance of Giftedness in Hard mode is different from Normal, making the difference between different Giftedness levels more pronounced.
  • Easy mode is made easier by lowering contract costs, lowering transfer costs, lowering infrastructure and staff costs, decreasing the age and increasing the Giftedness of the starting team.

Economics
  • Earlier, the footballer's transfer value was affected by the footballer's level, age, skill levels and specialization. Now Giftedness additionally affects the value.
  • Earlier, only the footballer's level and the duration of the contract affected the cost of contracts. Now, the level and quantity of skills, the specialization level, and Giftedness also affect the cost.
  • After cup qualification matches, the footballers earn less experience (than in the vanilla game). This is especially important in Hard Mode in the Amateur League, when you could get a lot of 'free' experience, which was not logical.
  • The balance of earning experience in different leagues has been revised. Defeating a higher league match now gives almost the same experience as winning a lower league match. Therefore, promotion to a higher league now makes much more sense.
  • The Glory balance has been completely redesigned. The most notable changes: less reward for defeating a strong opponent, more reward for success in the tournaments, the cost of the first staff upgrades has been reduced, and the cost of the later upgrades is increased.
  • The balance of the getting/losing fans has been completely remade. The dynamics now look more realistic. In addition, it is now possible to get over 80,000 fans.
  • Now sponsors give an additional cash bonus, the amount of which depends on the current number of fans.
  • From now on, at least one sponsor will always offer two simple conditions (money per match / win / goals / home win). Therefore, if you do not want to risk, you can always choose a simpler condition.

Other
  • In the Premier Leagues (of all countries), the disparity between the strongest and weakest clubs has increased. Therefore, there is now less chance that weak clubs will win often become champions or win continental cups.
  • Added the ability for Central Midfielders to learn the class Wing Defender. And vice versa.
  • Changed the balance of points given to countries for participating teams in continental tournaments. In general, the points are close to the real balance in European tournaments, but with minor changes due to the fact that the number of rounds in our game may differ from the real ones.
  • Now footballers are not included in the top-10 lists based on the results of the qualifying stages of cup tournaments, as such footballers previously had an advantage in determining the best footballers of the season.

FIXED BUGS
We have fixed a lot of hard to notice bugs. Below, I will describe the most obvious fixed bugs.

Match
  • When the goalkeeper took the penalty kick, he was wearing a field uniform.
  • When performing a False Kick, the sound of the ball hitting was heard, although there was no hit.

Balance
  • Weak teams earned XP faster than strong teams. This led to the fact that over time they began to win continental tournaments. This was the result of a bug in the code that we fixed.

Interface
  • After renaming tournaments, default names were used on some screens.
  • The game crashed if you drag a footballer on the specialization screen and drop it out of the list.
  • On the specialization screen the class colors did not work consistently in some cases.
  • Music disappeared when switching to Face Editor and Leagues Editor.
  • The dark background under the names of the footballers in the team photo did not support a large number of lines.

New campaign
  • If you change the rating of countries before the start of the campaign, then the strong countries remained strong, even if they were at the bottom of the rating. Fixed. Now the strength of the country at the beginning of the campaign depends on the rating set before the match.

Hot Seat
  • In the Hot Seat mode, the game didn't use the strength of the teams set in the modifications.

Texts
  • Errors in some names of footballers have been fixed.
  • Year-month-day characters were not displayed in the Contacts screen in Korean and Chinese.
  • A lot of bugs have been fixed in localization for some languages ​​(many thanks to the players who took the initiative and reviewed all the texts !!!)
  • In some places where the texts did not fit, the text fields were expanded.

You can search for footballers abroad!
During the open transfer window, you can send scouts to other countries. The higher the level of your scouts, the more countries you can send them to.



The order of the countries in the screenshot corresponds to their ranking. And the higher the rank of the country, the more gifted footballers play there. Therefore, if you want to find the averagely gifted footballers (which cost not very much), you can send scouts to the countries at the bottom of the list.

You will be able to buy footballers directly from other clubs
Now you can open any club from any country and try to buy any football footballer directly, bypassing transfers.

The price of the footballer will be much higher than if he were put in the transfer list. But with this new mechanic, you don't depend on the transfer lists at all.

There are some restrictions though. The clubs will not sell footballers they have bought in this transfer window (it's logical). Also, if the footballer is very important to the club, you will need to pay Glory for the club to even agree to talk about selling him.



Scouts reduce the value of footballers
The ability to buy footballers directly gives you a lot of freedom. Why do you need scouts when you can find the needed players yourself?

Previously, scouts made the footballers on your personal list cheaper. But on the extended list, the footballers were more expensive. The international list didn't exist at all.

Now the scouts will additionally make cheaper all footballers who are on any of the transfer lists, be it an extended list or international transfers.

For each level of the scout upgrades, the price of footballers is reduced by 3%. Therefore, if you fully upgrade your scouts, the cost of the footballers on the lists will decrease by 60%!



This makes scouts a pretty good investment. Sure, the probability of finding the right footballer on the transfer list is not very big. But if you find the right one, you will pay for him the best possible price.

Other clubs will ask you to sell your footballer
Other clubs also know how to buy footballers outside of the transfer lists. Therefore, if they see you have the player they want, they will offer a good price for him.

Moreover, you can try to persuade the club to pay more. In some cases, you can get 300% or more for your footballer.



This new mechanic creates interesting situations. After all, if this player is needed to another club, he most likely is needed to you as well. You will often painfully ask yourself: should you sell a promising footballer for good money or refuse an offer.

More choice when selling footballers
Previously, when you pressed the Sell button, the scouts found one club that was ready to buy your footballer And you were only limited to this club. This was especially unpleasant in cases where a footballer had to be sold to your worst enemy.

Now, in most cases, you will have a choice of three clubs.



One club will always try to buy the footballer for his transfer fee. The other two may offer a little more or a little less.

But there will be special cases. For example, sometimes a club may offer significantly less but will try to persuade you with the help of Glory.

Or it may be that the club will offer you significantly more money, but will ask you to split the payments into 2 parts. The first part will be paid now, and the second one - at the beginning of the next transfer window.

Football, Tactics & Glory - _K_o_S_

A little less than a month is left before the expansion is released. We are actively polishing it, finalizing the balance, fixing bugs. However, there are still quite a few new additions that I haven't talked about. Today I will talk about some of them.

Improved infrastructure and staff
New Infrastructure
In the original game, you could upgrade the stadium and the youth academy for money. There were also coaches in various positions that you could improve for glory.

Now the mechanics of infrastructure and personnel will change slightly.

First, we are adding new buildings that you can upgrade for the money. These are training fields, a scout centre and a medical centre. Each of these buildings has a dedicated staff.



Each building upgrade allows you to upgrade coaches a certain number of times. For example, a medical centre has a head physician (reduces the maximum duration of injuries) and a head masseur (reduces the likelihood of injury). As long as the medical centre is at zero level, you cannot upgrade medics. For each improvement of the medical centre, you can improve the staff twice. You decide who to improve: you can improve the head physician twice, or you can invest one improvement in each of the medics.

Likewise with other buildings.

New Personnel
The following types of personnel are added:
  • Chief physician - reduces the maximum duration of injuries
  • Head masseur - reduces the likelihood of injury
  • Youth coach 2 - gives more experience to footballers under 21
  • Youth coach 1 - the higher his level, the more pronounced the main attribute of a young footballer will be. In the letter informing about the new footballer, you will see how the attributes would look like without the coach:



Changes in the work of coaches
  • Bench coach - previously, his effect was combined with the effect of coaches of different positions. But we saw that many players do not understand this and upgrade this coach separately from other coaches. It made a little sense. Now, he provides significantly more experience than before but does not combine with the effect of other coaches.
  • Defender coach - since there are more defenders in the team than other classes, one coach cannot effectively train them all. Therefore, the effect of this coach is reduced compared to other coaches.

Finance Statistics
One of the most frequent requests from players is the ability to see the current sponsor conditions on some screen. Also, players would like to see their club's transfer history.

We decided to go further and make a screen where you can see the history of all expenses and earnings. Moreover, not only for money but also for glory and for fans.



Club Economy
By default, the screen looks scary. But you can customize the display of information in a convenient way. For example, I compare earnings from ticket sales with earnings from the sale of footballers:



The graph shows that for three seasons (2026-2028) I made quite a lot of money selling footballers but ticket sales did not grow. What happened then? Displaying your history right on this graph will help you:



Now it's easier to understand that in those three seasons I got stuck in the First League and decided to reorganize the team.

And here are the glory statistics:



Here I am comparing the gains from a goal difference versus a win over a strong opponent. In the 25/26 season, the gains from goal difference were the highest, while those from strong opponents were rather small. In the same season, I finished 2nd in the Second League. This may indicate that my team was on par with other teams. And I won them with a fairly high score.

The white line is the total number of fans, the green line is how many fans have joined the club, and the red line is how many have left the club.

Earlier I have written that we changed our plans. Instead of changing club mechanics, we decided to add Giftedness to the game. Many of you asked how will it work. Therefore, I decided to explain it.

Short description
  1. Now, every footballer has an additional characteristic: Giftedness.
  2. It is represented by the number of stars (0-5).
  3. The higher the Giftedness, the higher the level you can train the footballer to.
  4. In the matches, the Giftedness affect the maximum potential of the skills.

How Giftedness affects earning XP
Here are examples of some Giftedness levels so you better understand how the system works in general:
Giftedness 0:
  • Up to 5th level, the footballer earns 100% of XP
  • Levels 5-10 - 60% of XP
  • levels 10-15 - 30% of XP
  • After 15th level - 10% of XP
Giftedness 3:
  • Up to 50th level, the footballer earns 100% of XP
  • Levels 50-60 - 60% of XP
  • Levels 60-70 - 30% of XP
  • After 70th level - 10% of XP
Giftedness 5:
  • Up to 90th level, the footballer earns 100% of XP
  • Levels 90-95 - 60% of XP
  • Levels 95-98 - 30% of XP
  • After 98th level - 10% of XP
Thus, the higher the Giftedness, the easier it is to train the footballers to higher levels. Also, the footballers with a lower Giftedness will be upgrading their skills to the 2nd and 3rd levels longer.

By the way, to make it easier for you to navigate who is gaining experience at what speed, we have added small arrows to the column with the footballers' levels. 4 arrows mean that the player gets 100% of the experience, 3 arrows - 60% of the experience, 2 arrows - 30%, 1 arrow - 10%.

You can see these arrows in the previous screenshot. But we also show them in the footballer's profile:



How will this mechanic affect the development of your club?

Now, on transfers, you will pay attention not only to the age, level, skills and attributes but also to the Giftedness of the footballer. For example, you can see a footballer which might be perfect for you at this right moment. He's a great 28-year-old centre back with a heading talent and a 30th level. But he has zero Giftedness, and you know that this defender will no longer develop.

But there is also an amateur defender with Giftedness of 3 and level 10. Yes, he still needs to be trained, you should allow him to play in matches, he should learn the talent or skill. But in the end, he can become much stronger and bring more value to your club.

Or he may not, as he will grow very quickly, understand his talent and will ask for a much larger salary than you are willing to pay.

Giftedness adds a new layer to the situations that can happen to you on your way to building your club.

The youth school adds additional depth. The higher its level, the more chances that a football player will be more gifted. Imagine your joy when youth with Giftedness 4 appears on your team (where the majority has the Giftedness of 1-2).

Here is a screenshot of my team in which this situation occurred:



The young Spencer graduated from the academy in this season. However, the chance that there will be a player with Giftedness 4 was only 1.5%.

How Giftedness affects performing skills
Earlier, the skills worked as follows:
  • The skill potential of both attacking and defending footballers was always 10.
  • The more tired the attacking footballer was, the lower was his skill potential.
  • Defending footballer always had the potential 10.
  • Motivation didn't affect the attacking footballers (however, gave the advantage to the defending ones).
Now, the skills will work in a more interesting way:
  • The potential of both footballers will depend on their Giftedness.
  • The potential of the footballers with Giftedness 0 will be equal 5. The potential of the footballer with the Giftedness 1 will be equal 6 etc. The potential of the footballer with the Giftedness 5 will be equal to 10.
  • Amount of energy will affect BOTH footballers. That is, the defensive footballer's potential will also depend on Giftedness and energy.
  • Therefore, now we show the skill potential for each footballer. After all, this number is used not only when performing skills, but also when protecting against skills.
  • The Heading talent will also depend on the skill potential. Therefore, the tired footballer will have a lower potential than the fresh one. Earlier, even absolutely exhausted footballers could score headers without penalties.
  • If the footballer is motivated, his potential increased on 2.
  • Earlier, learning the specialization group Talent increased the speed of learning the next skill on 2 months. It was not very useful for special classes. We changed that bonus. Now, after learning the group, the footballer's skill potential will be increased by 1. So even the footballers with lower Giftedness can learn this group and improve their potential a bit.



How will it affect the game?

Now, the skills of the first level will not be almost useless (they were too risky). If you use the Long Pass with a Giftedness 1 footballer against a footballer with Giftedness 0, then 6 versus 5 will be compared.

If you managed to exhaust the opponent (his energy dropped), then the values might be ​​6 against 4. This is also true for your footballers, who get tired and their potential decreases.

After the internal tests, we see that the dynamics and excitement of matches in the lower leagues have increased significantly.



Also, the strength ratio between weaker and stronger clubs will become more realistic. Previously, a weak footballer with a level 3 Cannon Shot could strike fear into an entire continent. Now, if he has a low Giftedness, then a goalkeeper with a high Giftedness will be able to better resist him.

How Giftedness will affect the balance of the countries
Countries used to differ in how good the youth schools were in the country's teams. In England, for example, youth schools produced high-level footballers, while in the Faroe Islands - low-level ones.

But this was not enough for teams from different countries to really differ in their strength.

Now, the lower the country in the ranking is, the fewer chances there are that gifted players will appear there. And since clubs in stronger countries are stronger financially, they will try to find and buy rare gifted players from weaker countries. In this way, we can better show the dynamics of the football world.

Final notes
We've been testing new mechanics for a long time and we really love it.

First, matches have become more exciting and dynamic. Secondly, the development of the club is now perceived in a new way.

It may feel like you are playing FTG2 as you have to re-learn how things work together, how to make decisions, how to develop players, etc. The game has become deeper.

Why did we decide to change our plans
In the course of implementing statistics, we realized that changing club by the coach is not a mechanic that would fit this expansion. One part of the statistics shows the game world, and the other part shows the history of your club. And if you often move to other clubs, you will only see fragments of the history of each next club.

Initially, this did not seem to be a problem for us, but when we play the beta version with statistics, we realized that the changing club mechanic would be better replaced with something that would allow for a more interesting development of our club.

But we continued to follow the plan because the expansion had already been announced and we had already created certain expectations.

However, after implementing statistics, the engine has become much more complicated. Therefore, implementing the changing club mechanic became very difficult. We realized that the expansion will not be released until March 2021.

Therefore, we returned to our thoughts about the fact that it would be better to replace the mechanics of the coach's changing club to something else, which will make it more interesting to play with the same club and at the same time would be faster to implement.

New mechanics
For a long time, we wanted to implement the Giftedness mechanic. This is a mechanic that makes footballers more unique in their development. More gifted footballers, for example, can grow to higher levels than less gifted ones.

With the giftedness, the search for footballers on transfers will be more interesting. Assuming that improving your youth academy leads to a greater chance of getting more gifted football players, the value of your youth might increase significantly.

Also in the match, the more gifted players will have an advantage when performing skills. It has long worried us that a level 100 footballer performs Cannon Kick as effectively as a level 10 footballer.

Now, more gifted players will perform skills more efficiently.

Overall, this mechanic will have a pretty big impact on the game, making it more voluminous. You will experience FTG like it's a partially new game.

We'll be writing more details on how this will work in 1-2 weeks. For now, I'll just show you a screenshot.



The new name of the expansion
Since we changed the main mechanics of the expansion, we should have changed its name. It will now be called Football Stars. This name reflects the fact that we show the level of giftedness with little stars.

To be honest, we were pretty scared to change the plan. But we are sure that this will not only surprise and delight you with quite interesting new mechanics but will also speed up the release of the expansion.

So expect it to be released on November 2020.

We have updated the current version of the game in order to fix minor bugs and some little improvements:

  • Extended the length of the contracts of most footballers at the start of the campaign at Normal and Easy modes.
  • Now, the interactive tutorial shows Help button after 3 unsuccessful attempts (instead of 5). Also, the button pointing to the help is now more visible.
  • Fixed display of rain and snow in the goal celebration scenes.
  • Removed the Export button from the face editor (we needed it internally for testing faces).
  • Improved stability of the 32-bit version.

This is part of a series of articles that talk about the many new features that will appear in the next major expansion. You can find past articles there.

Today I want to tell you about several new features which do not add anything globally new but make the playing process much more enjoyable.

Improved the career screen

We completely remade the career screen to show you more data about the footballer. Despite the new columns like Cards, Injuries and Duration of the Injuries are interesting per see, we believe that the most interesting new possibility is the information about how much the new club paid for the footballer.

Sometimes, you can see quite interesting careers. For example, there's a screenshot of a Center Defender who was grown by the Rome's Youth Academy. He was noticed by the Zagreb's scouts, and the club bought him for quite big money: 12 mln Euro.

For the next 3 seasons, the footballers showed himself so well that Madrid purchased him for more than twice as big sum: 27 mln.



Additionally, we improved the profile screen for the footballers of your team. Except adding a possibility to see their Specialization tree directly from this screen (earlier you had to go to the Specialization tab of your club), now you also will be able to see his general statistics filtered by the clubs he ever played:



New music
We will add 10 new tracks. I'm sure we were able to get even better tracks than currently are in the game.

Goal scoring ball trajectories
Earlier, when you scored a goal, the ball was always flying by a direct trajectory. Moreover, no matter how far a footballer stayed from the goal, the time of flying was the same. When a shot was made from one of the corner tiles, the ball always crossed the goalposts.

I believe it's fine for a turn-based game where the match mechanics is the core of the game. However, we try our best the players also have a visual pleasure when playing FTG.

Therefore, in the next expansion, the footballers will send the ball by different trajectories: either in the close or far corners, with a twist or by the straight line.



Changed the balance of the fans
Earlier, you couldn't get more than 80 000 fans because it didn't have a gameplay sense. Now, we will remove this limit. Also, there will be new gameplay improvements:

1) Now, the number of fans grows slower in general. You will get more fans for promoting to the higher tournament stages and for getting your players in the best team of the round.

2) After reaching some number of fans, the sponsors' payments will be increased. Therefore, even reaching more than 80k fans, this number will make sense for you because it's a part of your economy.

The screenshot shows the screen where you select a sponsor. I have more than 100k fans, therefore, I have an additional 10% bonus.

While these new improvements aren't big, they improve the game in general. So we are interested to know what improvement you liked more.

While we are working on the next big expansion, we have found some little bugs which we would like to fix for the main game:

  • After finishing the tutorial tests, some players experienced crashes if they tried to replay the tests. Fixed.
  • In some rare cases, the players might not pass some tests from the first try. Fixed.
  • In the Precision Shot test the image showed the wrong penalty for 4-tiles distance. Fixed.
  • Slightly improved the image of Argentina flag.
  • When a footballer got the bonus for finishing the Specialization tree, the specialization icons were skewed. Fixed.
  • Fixed the wordings in French (in the sentences like `Aujourd'hui, nous jouons _en_ qualifications `)
  • Changed the name of one of the Indonesian cities

In previous articles, I talked about the statistics of tournaments, clubs, and footballers. But we decided to go further and start collecting interesting statistics of the matches.

ACTION ZONES
Now, you will be able to see from which tiles you made goal attempts, scored goals, and assists:



Additionally, there will be a possibility to find out from which tiles you conceded goals, where you were booked, and where your players were injured:



Obviously, your style of playing in the Amateur League will be different from how you play in the Premier League. Therefore, all this information can be viewed either for the whole time or separately for each season.

PENALTIES
Penalties are performed not often. But for 5-10 seasons, interesting statistics can be accumulated. For example, in which zones you are most likely to score a goal, in which zones you better defended the goal, etc.

We decided that this is also quite interesting information that would be interesting to study. Therefore, we implemented such a possibility:
