Last week’s State of the Game was quite a special one, where Community Developers Petter Mårtensson, Yannick Banchereau & Hamish Bode were joined by Massive’s Creative Director Julian Gerighty and Game Director Mathias Karlson to announce that we are working on a sequel with a reveal planned for E3 2018 as well as to provide a roadmap of what's coming to The Division after Update 1.8.
Petter & Yannick are back this week with an update on the ongoing PTS, another batch of interesting stats with Yannick and to showcase the excellent community content that you produce.
The PC PTS for Update 1.8.1 is currently ongoing and we released a patch for it today that fixed some issues identified during the first stage of testing as well as activating the new Global Event: Onslaught for testing. Make sure to join the PTS and provide us with your thoughts and feedback on the official PTS forum, as always – we value your feedback greatly.
As a quick reminder, the contents of the upcoming updates are as follows:
Update 1.8.1 - launching in April with Legendary modes for Amherst’s apartment and Grand Central Station, the Xbox One X patch (4k rendering, improved reflections/shadows/detail), new Classified acquisition rates, new Global Event: Blackout followed by new Global Event: Onslaught in May.
Update 1.8.2 - launching in June with two more Legendary mission modes and the new Shields campaign in which completing achievements in The Division grants special rewards in The Division 2.
For a full overview of upcoming events, check out our Roadmap.
Stats with Yannick made a return this week, with some astonishing figures from some of our most dedicated community members and their playtime since launch. It is great to have such a dedicated community and on behalf of all of us we’d like to thank you all for helping to make the game what it is today!
This past weekend a number of Twitch streamers came together to raise money for the Starlight Foundation, a charity that aims to brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children. We wanted to say thank you for your efforts on behalf of the team and you should all be proud of having raising over 7000 AUD for a great cause!
Denis Gusev shared a series of cosplay pictures telling a story of two agents in New York. We can tell that a lot of work were put into these and we are genuinely impressed. Keep up the good work!
Cheshire Cat created this wall of graffiti to mark the 2 year anniversary, featuring the names of a number of people that have worked on the game in the last few years. We love the fact that it can be mistaken as a screenshot from the game and the gesture is appreciated by the team.
In addition, we also want to give a big shout-out to RRV_Design, Damo_kb8 & Max Bidnychenko for your excellent contributions that were showcased during today’s stream!
Do not forget that The Global Events are still on rotation throughout the month of March for our anniversary. Global Event: Strike is live now!
Finally, we plan to introduce NVIDIA Ansel support Update 1.8.2 planned for June for those that are eagerly awaiting that feature.

It has been quite a journey since The Division’s launch on March 8, 2016. We have introduced three major expansions alongside streams of free content updates for our players with one goal in mind—to deliver a truly unique and memorable open world-RPG experience. We are approaching The Division’s second birthday, and we want to recap the adventure in numbers (there’s a bunch of them)!
We are proud to say that over 20 million players have played The Division since launch, with 500,000 of those players spending over 400 hours in-game. It is true that we have the most dedicated fans who spend so much of their time in Manhattan.
The community has ensured that Rogue Agents need to tread carefully in the Dark Zone, as 549,939,300 Rogues have been brought to justice since Day One. That is not the entire picture, though, as 161,000 Agents die every hour in the Dark Zone on average. The Rogues and native NPCs surely have answered back with their own agendas.
Over the last two years, 66 billion NPCs were killed (the most notable being Alex). While Alex was being “got”, Ramos was sitting helplessly in Lexington Event Center. Players have rescued Sgt. Ramos a total of 55 million times (he is very grateful).
Players have ventured beneath the surface into the Underground 160 million times, successfully clearing out the sewers of New York 69 million times. Agents have not put up such a strong fight against the notorious blizzard that fans over the city, as only 16% of all Survival runs have proven successful. Better bundle up, Agents!
A special shout-out goes out to a PS4 Agent in particular who has completed 7,768 waves of Resistance since its release in December 2017. That is an average of 100 waves per day! Faye Lau could not be more proud.
Over the past three months, players have spent an average of three hours per day in New York City, and we could not ask for anything more. The Division has evolved over the last two years and will continue to do so as we strive to deliver the best experience possible to our players. A huge thank you to everyone for the journey and remember, it does not end here.
