When this firewall is down, the ship will drop out of warp and will generate a warp signature. The ship will also be unable to enter warp while this firewall is down.
Can be repaired with repair cartridges
Can be hacked from a distance that is 30 * the target's warp speed if the target's warp level is below 5
If the target's warp level is 5 or above, the range is system wide
- added scanner signatures
every ship and other important object can leave a scanner signature
ships scan periodically for new signatures, this is sped up by enabling scanners, the duration of this is defined by the closeness
when getting closer to a scanner signature, a bar displays over the icon, when the bar reaches zero, the signature updates it's location, allowing the user to get closer to it's true location
ships generate a warp signature upon exiting warp. This signature is very precise but lasts only a couple of minutes.
signatures are now the only way to find rich asteroids and gas clouds
- added station shield
Resource Cost: 7500 Iron , 2500 Copper
Creates a shield around the ship, rendering it invulnerable from any damage
Can only be activated within a certains distance from the system's star (differs per system as the star's size differs. The termianl on the device shos when in range.)
Upon activation, renders ship globally visible and a 15 minute timer will start to run
15 minutes after activation, the station shield activates fully
The shield is always visible and is able to be colored
Power cost scales between 300 and 15000 power, depending on the mass of the station, capping at 1 million mass.
Requires one of 3 types of Focusing Crystal to be inserted to operate
- added 3 new tools
Focusing Crystal TI
lasts 24 hours in Station Shield
Can be created in 3D Printer
Costs 50 Carbon, 6 Deuterium
Focusing Crystal TII
lasts 48 hours in Station Shield
Can be created in 3D Printer
Costs 50 Carbon, 50 Vectronium
Focusing Crystal TIII
lasts 96 hours in Station Shield
Can be created in 3D Printer
Costs 50 Carbon, 10 Quartz
- added cloaking device
Resource Cost: 1750 Iron , 500 Copper, 500 Silicon
when activated, makes a ship much harder to find.
requires heatsinks to operate
drones and skrill no longer target cloaked ships
is disabled by any interaction with the outside of the ship (for example: mining, disposing of resources, drones docking/undocking)
is disabled by warping
is disabled when weapons are enabled
Will engage deep cloaking mode after 2 hours of continuous operation. Will render a ship completely invisible.
Power cost scales between 250 and 7500 power depending on the mass of the ship, capping at 1 million mass.
- holotable now shows a glowing ring around systems which contained active players in the last 5 minutes
- added option for server owners to limit system generation range
MaxUniverseGeneratorGenerationDist in serverConfig.json
Changing this can lock players in their system when they were previously outside of the range!
- added several upgrades to Ship Flight UI
made own ships, crew ships and fleet ships globally visible
ship flight markers and text now scale with resolution (no more unreadables on 4k resolutions)
ship markers are now globally visible while they are in warp
scout markers are now properly grouped under their parent objects
- added Hydropex Fuel Trader
functions like the Galactic Trade Emporium but sells fuel and heatsinks
Randomly jumps into systems and releases several trade drones into the system
- added ignore function
type /ignore <playerName> in chat to add a player to your ignore list. This will work across all servers as it is saved locally in your config file.
type /unignore <playerName> in chat to remove a player from your ignore list. This will work across all servers as it is saved locally in your config file.
type /clearignorelist in chat to clear your ignore list
ignoring a player will cause none of their chat messages to appear
- missions can now be flagged illegal, if a ship with an illegal mission is scanned by drones, it will gain wanted level
- illegal missions yield 1.5 times more reward
- implemented new drifter mission (basically a transport mission, but it's illegal)
- dronebay automation cartridge "launch" now gives "defend" instruction if no instruction has been set
- decreased chance of warp disrupt for grunts
- added base damage values to Ammo and missile types in the encyclopedia
GRAPHICS
- scout markers are now properly grouped under their parent objects
- markers no longer display the T to target by default
- markers are now spaced out more when hovered over
- ship flight mouse cursor now scales with resolution
- player names above their heads are now handled the same way as in-game screens, so they can no longer be seen through walls
- flight markers now scale with resolution
- flight marker UI scale can now be controlled by a slider in the options menu
- fixed octagonal door sign being too high
- fixed crate facing the wrong way in the medium armor generator
- fixed bug where in-world markers would twitch
- fixed ram scoop button hover text
- added button to disable the text coloring in the server browser.
BALANCE
- rebalanced hacking cartridges
Duration reduced to 3-4 minutes (both defensive and offensive)
Creation resource costs have been reduced to 10 Silicon, 1 Gold and 1 Cartridge specific rare resource
- removed player ships from holotable if they are far away and not transponding
- emp now has a range of 2000 units, but falls off over distance. Disabling missiles still works from 800 units or closer.
- tweaked flak missile speed to more closely match combat range of other weapons
- added checks so final objectives for the main faction ultimate system events only spawn when that faction's headquarters had been built
- ship targets now untarget automatically when they are out of range
BUG FIXES
- fixed bug where damage to devices would not work
- fixed bug where flight UI would not display Hurles Co final objective asteroid
- fixed bug where game would try to load systems that are already being loaded in the background
- fixed bug where mission locations and system event locations would not be targetable when parented to a planet, causing the planet to be unselected as well
- fixed bug where player was added to player list before successful login
- fixed bug where player login would wait for system load
- fixed bug where chat bar would scale the text if it went over the width of the text field
- fixed bug where drones had trouble selecting targets
- flak cannons should no longer fire backwards when flying backwards
- fixed bug where GT Player Trade Terminal would not always reset its scroll level upon switching pages
- fixed bug where GT Player Trade Terminal would not always display stock value
- turning scanners on or off now puts all of them in the same state as opposed to swqitching them individually
Time for another update! This week we have the major sensor rework! The new cloaking device and the station shield! So without further delay let's get into the details...
First up, the new sensor rework. From now on when you’re flying around the galaxy you will see occasional signatures pop up. These signatures can be several different kinds of phenomena. From a ship dropping out of warp, to rich asteroids, gas clouds and more. These markers become more accurate the closer you are, so you will have to fly to them in order for them to give you a more accurate location. This goes for all sensor contacts.
Using this new system it will make exploration more interesting as well as add more difficulty in tracking down players for those of you living the space pirate life!
That said there is a nice way to counter being found using sensors and that is the new cloaking device! The cloaking device will make it so nothing will show up on sensor contact until they are within 2 km of it. The cloaking device takes a while to fully enable and until it is fully on your ship will still leave a signature. Once it is fully enabled and it goes into deep cloak mode. It wont show up on sensor contacts anymore. You can’t kill what you cant find! The cloak does have its limitations though, it doesn't function in warp and once you fire your weapons it will disable. This makes it a perfect tool for ambushing ships and hiding your large scale mining operations.
And lastly there is the new station shield! This device will let you generate an invulnerable station shield on a ship or station located near a star. It's important to note that the station shield will only function if the ship is in orbit around the sun. It takes a while to activate, and once it is activated the ship cannot move anymore. You are however still able to use the station or ships weapons. Which is important considering once the shield is active it will make the location of the station known to everyone in the system. The station shield uses special crystals that have a limited duration, and once they run out the station shield will have to be rebooted again.
The station shield is intended for stations that players don't mind being found such as trade stations, or as a hub for your fleet or crew.
We’ve also added in the new HydroPEX fuel tanker made by EternallySlaying that will make periodic stops in every system. Also we tried to contact you EternallySlaying, to ask how you want to be credited, so please let us know.
For all other things in the patch, please see the details in the patch notes linked below.
As always, we’d appreciate any feedback you’re willing to provide, it will only help us make the game better. We have a fairly busy discord server which you can join! Feel free to drop by and have a chat, we’d love to hear your opinion and feedback!
It is that time of the year again when the ghosts and ghouls emerge from their crypts, and haunt the universe!
The item cartridges have become haunted, and are now filled with new and old headgear, such a Drifters Face mask with customizable colors, or some brainzzzz... Keep a sharp eye out for these spooky new rewards when doing missions!
The Halloween building blocks are once more available as well, so be sure to collect those candy boxes and pumpkins to decorate your ships to be their most spookiest.
we'll be showing off some new stuff as well. Join us if you want to ask us a question, or just want to hang out with some people who are very bad at playing their own game :SkrillStinger:ːsteamhappyː
The experimental patch for this patch includes some new goodies that will make it easier and more secure for players to set up space stations.
The first device that we are adding is the new station shield. This device allows players to set up a space station near the sun with an invulnerability shield. This new shield requires a rare crystal (currently looking a lot like a heat sink, new graphic coming soon!) to power, and has a long start up time during which the players will need to defend it. Once the station shield is up, it will stay up until the resource depletes.
The second major addition in this patch is the cloaking device. This device hides your ship from sensors meaning it will be much more difficult to find. Unlike the station core this device requires an actual heat sink in order to operate. And it will function until the heat sink is depleted, or you use your weapons, warp, or disrupt the cloaking in any other way.
And lastly the new scanning system,
In order to combat the problem where players were able to find each other anywhere using the holo-table, we have now added a new scanning mechanic. When in the cockpit of your ship, you will now see signatures appear in space. These new signatures will lead you to points of interest or other players if you follow them. The closer you get, the more details they will display about their source.
