After a longer period than usual we are happy to release patch 0.1.51 bringing with it system events.
These system events allow players of any skill level and progression to participate and help nudge a system to be controlled by their faction of choice. Players will be granted rewards for most objectives they participate in. So, for example, an objective is to help gather resources to build a station, every time they hand in resources they will be paid for it.
System events will be present in every non-starting system which now means that in some star systems there will be no space stations until some event objectives have been completed. Note that some stations do still spawn over time in some instances.
Once all the objectives for a given faction are completed that system will become owned by that faction. And players will be granted access to special rewards resources with which they can build more efficient fuel, ammunition and more. In the near future we will be adding ways for players to retake systems for other factions. As well as investigate the possibility of player factions.
In addition we are also adding in skrill and drone bounties, regardless of where players destroy these threats players will be granted a small amount of money for their trouble. More difficult enemies will net higher bounties. We hope this will incentivise players to help keep their systems free of skrill. The skrill have also had their movement rebalanced so that they are more in line with the recent ship flight changes.
We’ve also added a new button to the GRIP, which will allow you to access the encyclopedia. In here you will be able to find the crafting recipes and a descriptions for every item, tool and resource in the game. This should eliminate any uncertainty as to what each item costs to make, or what it does.
As always, we’d appreciate any feedback you’re willing to provide, it will only help us make the game better. We have also set up a public discord server which you can join! Feel free to drop by and have a chat, we’d love to hear your opinion and feedback!
Thank you all for playing and see you starside!

This experimental update is a bit bigger than usual, as we’re adding in system events!
These events are system wide missions that everyone can participate in, and that will net you better and unique rewards. These events consist of things like the creation of new space stations, the elimination of a large number of skrill, or simply scouting new locations. Most of these missions will reward you just for participating.
This however does mean that most star systems outside of the starter systems are going to be mostly empty. There might be a rift hub, but not much else. Which means these systems will need player interaction to become populated with space stations. As you complete system events the influence of a faction will increase in that system, leading to that faction constructing more stations on their own.
More types of system event missions will be added over time.
passive bounties for killing skrill and pirate drones throughout the star systems have also been added. Meaning that you will receive a U-Nits payout for every one of these that you take out. These rewards will be paid out in the same way as mission rewards among crew members.
We’ve also rebalanced the skrill to be more inline with the recent ship flight changes.
Note that these are not all of the changes we are making for the upcoming patch, in the coming days we will be looking at your feedback and making changes based on that as well as adding more balancing tweaks.
