We’re changing the way that you receive updates for Sheltered. We’ve now got to a stage where Steam and Xbox One updates will hit at the same time with the same content. We’re also splitting our updates into two types, ‘Hatch notes’ and bigger themed updates. The plan is to have regular Hatch Notes updates in-between the big themed updates. And each of these Hatch Notes will be accompanied with a short video, like this one:
Here’s a full list of the changes in Hatch Notes #1:
• Added a Laboratory to craft new items and medicines • Added an Ammunition Press to create ammo for weapons • Added new locations • Create artwork, including paintings and sculptures to place around the shelter. • Added a Recycling plant to recycle/deconstruct unwanted objects into components • Added new customisations for all characters • Changed the way paint works so it will now cover the whole wall it's applied to • Added randomisation of wires and room variants to the game to create more varied looking shelters • Toy Box and Book Shelf can now be deconstructed • New icon for the Circuit Breaker item • New Schematics to be found for objects and weapons
We really hope you enjoy all the new content and It’s been awesome seeing the community members and survivors of the wasteland climb up the leaderboards.
Keep your feedback coming and be sure to give the announcement a thumbs up if you liked it!

It’s been a little while since our last update, we’ve been busy working on the game and getting the development process in line so that we can release regular updates. We really appreciate your patience and feedback and we’re super excited about todays update and the ones to follow.
One of the top requested features that we’ve seen since Sheltered entered Early Access is the introduction of leaderboards, so you have something to make all the cannibalism, murdering, or peaceful pillaging of the nuclear wasteland worth it. As well as the introduction of the leaderboards in this update, there’s also some fixes:
-Fixed an issue with expedition characters becoming stuck if shelter doors are left closed. -Fixed an issue with items vanishing when transferred between storage areas. -Added a localisation string for the infection status. -Fixed an issue where recruited characters with food poisoning did not vomit.
We’re really looking forward to seeing a bit of competition in the leaderboards, and seeing just how long you guys manage to survive. And as usual keep the feedback coming!

We noticed a lot of Smith families suddenly popping up after the last update (oops), but fear not we are here to end the wasteland suffering of the name Smith. Today’s patch fixes some issues with Sheltered such as invisible characters and faulty showers.
-Fixed an issue where family surnames would appear as ‘Smith’ in the save slot menu. -Fixed an issue with the generator not correctly providing power for showers. -Fixed an issue where collected schematics were vanishing following save data load. -Fixed an issue where special weapons were not correctly increasing stats. -Fixed an issue where characters would not appear when zoomed out in certain resolutions.
We’ve got some really exciting features coming soon that we really can’t wait to tell you about and we’ve been reading through all your feature requests, so make sure you keep them coming.

Sheltered has been out on Early Access/Game Preview for just over two weeks and it’s been an amazing to see how the community (You guys and gals) has embraced the game. Some of you have been with us since the Kickstarter campaign, and some of you are newer to the wasteland, but we want to thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support.
We feel that Sheltered is now in a state where we can really start looking to the future. Obviously fixes and gameplay tweaks will continue, but we wanted to show you what’s in store for Sheltered as it evolves. We’ve split it into a few categories so that you can get an honest and realistic expectation of what we’re working on and the order that things are likely to hit. This is still a work in progress and all of these ideas can and will be influenced by the feedback you’re giving.
Currently in the works:
• Complete overhaul of the combat system • Quest and scenario system • Lots more content – new objects, items, characters, locations
Features in the not-too-distant future:
• Loyalty system for recruits – earn their respect • Recruits with personalities – could they have a nasty streak? • Shelter hazards – fires and floods? • Shelter breaches and infiltration • Wildlife and the ‘Unhinged’ – more adversaries • Leaderboards and achievements • Enhanced radio functionality • More pet types
Longer term plans:
• Bloodlines – extend your family lineage • Endgame – overarching goal(s) to work towards • New game modes – different ways to play including difficulty settings
Hopefully you’re as excited about this as we are, so sound off in the comment with your thoughts.
