We are trying to do one more major patch before heading out to GDC next week. The purpose of this patch will be to address as many bugs as possible before the conference. Most notably:

A bug where colonists share health sometimes. Mainly Sweden and Russia.

Colonists that can sometimes die in the rover (same bug we think)

Reducing the nav mesh to force the colonists to use more of the natural paths
rather than just climbing straight up hills

Fix the research tree indicators that sometimes will be active when you can't purchase an upgrade

Expand the options menu to include more audio and graphics options.

Any bugs reported or found through continued testing.

Anyone who own the Mac version be advised we have been trying to track down a possible bug that causes save games to overlap with one another. Since we only have a single Mac computer for both Mac building and testing purposes, the issue may have to do with the fact it is a build computer and may not affect anyone at all.

If any Mac users encounter issues with saving and loading multiple games, especially across different Maps, please let us know by emailing admin@tbagames.net so we can figure out what is going on and fix it.

Hey Everyone,

Been working hard over the last few days and we are pleased to say that PeriAreion 2.1.0 is now live for PC. The Mac version is in the works and should be out tomorrow. This is a feature patch (as opposed to just bugs) to address some of the feeback we have gotten. So notes...

New Rover Mode
The old rover mode is still in there but now you can change views above the rover allowing for easier terrain navigation. We also added a new HUD Bar for the rover so you can now view all your rations/resources as well as quickly access the unload and exit rover buttons.

Navigation Beacons
You can now place navigation beacons by right clicking in the map screen. These beacons are placed in the game world as flashing light poles allowing for you to plan a route in-map then simply follow your markers in-game. You can currently have a max of 15 markers but markers can be destroyed and replaced at any time with a quick click on the map screen.

Loading Screen
The loading screen was a major cause of hardship during launch as it was directly responsible for a game crashing bug. We disabled the load screen replacing with a static piece of placeholder art as a temporary fix. The load screen has now been redesigned with a spinning logo. Additionally, there was a set of old hints upon loading a level that have been replaced.

Bug Fixes
Colonist 21 decided not to speak anymore...this has been fixed.
Minor spelling/grammar issues.

What's Next?

We have a list of bugs to keep working on, some harder to get at than others. Replacing or optimizing the cutscenes as they may still be causing memory spikes and crashes is up there. We are looking at a few more features as well and will keep you updated on those.

First of all, thanks to everyone who has given us feedback. With a QA team of two, it's often hard to catch every bug in a new build, but we're working to address issues that we may have missed. A quick heads-up on features we're planning on incorporating into the next major patch:

Map Pings. We want to add a marker you can place by clicking the map screen. This will give you a point of reference when navigating the map, especially in the rover. We are also looking into adding a probe that the user can control that can drop beacons for navigation.

New loading screen. As we mentioned in a previous update, we have replaced the loading video with a non-moving image for the moment as we test out better-looking alternatives.

Improved rover functionality. Yes, the rover is hell to drive and we have hated that. With a programing team of one, the rover physics have been the single largest issue during development. We will give it another crack and see about adding an in-rover map as well.

Expanded options menu. This is something we can do, just havent had the time (again, one programmer!). The main focus here is the expansion of the graphics slider into a full and detailed menu.

Bug fixes. Always and ever present, gonna keep working on 'em.

Also, we're in the process of finalizing the art for trading cards and badges, so those should be available in the next few days.
