From Wednesday, February 9th through Wednesday, February 16th, love will fill the air as we celebrate Valentine's Day with Love Evolved 3. While ARK is under Cupid's spell, go fishing for love and gain a chance at new skins, items, and five new chibi pets to collect!

Show yourself some love with the new self-hug emote, or try to reel in one of the new swimsuit skins!

This event can be manually activated with the server arg parameter: -ActiveEvent=vday
For the duration of Love Evolved, we will be disabling the world buffs from Baby Boon & Maewing Poach on Genesis Part 2 on the Official Network. In the past, we've adjusted for the impact event have had on the rates by tweaking the bonuses that we use during the holidays, however, those tweaks lead to unfavorable circumstances on maps that aren't Genesis Part 2, so going forward during breeding events, we'll be disabling these mission buffs specifically as not to affect the bonuses on other maps.

We hope you enjoyed your Winter Wonderland and had some time to spend with your tribes (in and out of game 🤓). Although we are continuing to focus some development efforts on Lost Island, we want don't want you to lose sight of new content that's to come in 2022!

In addition to 3 new creatures launching in June with Fjordur, we'll also be releasing Carcharodontosaurus as a separate, free update later in 2022!

Let's take a look at the dossiers of 2 new creatures coming to Fjordur and announce the winner of the second Community Creature Vote.

Common Name: Andrewsarchus
Species: Andrewsarchus mongoliensis
Time: Middle Eocene
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Opportunistic

Andrewsarchuses are full of surprises. These ungainly creatures seem sluggish while foraging for a meal, but they can move unexpectedly fast when provoked. Like some other whippomorphs, an Andrewsarchus will aggressively defend its territory against interlopers its size or smaller on sight.

With some distance between you, it might be possible to dodge a charging Andrewsarchus, since they don’t exactly turn on a dime. Just don’t expect a river or lake to protect you from one. If its feet can touch bottom, Andrewsarchus will barely be slowed by deep water.

These scavengers will tear into just about anything if hungry, but they do seem to have a sweet tooth. I've seen Andrewsarchuses pacified by honey and sweet fruit.

Once tamed, Andrewsarchus is a reliably fast beast of burden, as long as you don’t need it to take any corners at full speed. Its density in water also makes it ideal for searching the ocean floors for pearls.

Andrewsarchus is probably most useful for light reconnaissance, once you mount a minigun to the back of its saddle. It can't absorb as much damage as some of the ARKs' larger creatures, but it's great for harassing them.

Some say a gun-saddled Andrewsarchus reminds them of a puma, a walrus, or even a warthog, but I don't see it.

Species: Parabuteo veðrfölnir
Time: Mid-late Anthropocene
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Calculating

Most of the creatures I’ve encountered here have endured thanks to their great size, strength, or ferocity. But the fjordhawk gets by on its wits and by scavenging. The bird also seems to have an almost preternatural ability to predict and avoid danger. Fjordhawks follow predators (and survivors) from on high, watching for their moment to swoop in and snatch up an easy meal.

Tamed fjordhawks are surprisingly playful, and their favorite game is fetch. Indulge your bird with this play and a bit of patience, and you’ll reap the rewards. Just point out a target, and your fjordhawk will fly off to retrieve it for you. A well-trained fjordhawk can locate injured prey and communicate its find to you.

These clever birds will bond with humans as wholeheartedly as any canine or primate, in a way uniquely suited to this time and place. If you should meet with some grave misfortune, your fjordhawk will immediately fly off with as many of your belongings as it can carry. As soon as you’re respawned by the ARK, your friend will track you down and return your equipment to you!

As we wrap up what has been an exciting and busy year for ARK and a challenging year for all of us, we'd like to take a moment to thank you all for your ongoing support and express gratitude for our team and our players.

We hope that you felt optimistic more often than not this year. That you found joy in unexpected places. That 2021 gave you opportunities to rest and take a break from the challenges present in the world over the past couple of years.

A special thanks goes to the varied communities that bring diversity and inclusion to the playerbase: our non-english speaking players - nod to the Arkadia crew and the spanish speaking community - Hololive and the ever-joyful Japanese community, our large German and French communities and their wonderful content creators, the amazing LGBTQ communities and creators, creativity within the community as seen in the wonderful ARKitect events or the #danceoffs on social media. Congratulations to Syntac on his 1mil subs and Youtube Gold Play Button and Nexxuz who was nominated for the ESLAND Awards in the category of best series of the year! It has also been a joy to see newer creators establish their own communities and it is, as ever, humbling to be able to facilitate that in some way through our game. We can't mention everyone but rest assured we see you and what you bring and it means the world!

ARK wouldn't be where it is without our players and our talented team and we wouldn't be looking forward to ARK 2 and ARK: The Animated Series without your passion and support.

We've made some changes to the creature voting process and we've invited Craig to give a summary:

Hey there, Survivors! CraigBrownCraigBrown here to chat about the upcoming community vote for Fjordur’s third new Creature. I’m very excited about this, because I have *very* strong feelings on the way the previous vote went (some good, some bad).
First of all, I’m so happy that so much of the community came out and made your voices heard. Yall cast thousands of votes, and it came down to the last few minutes of the vote. My creature of choice may have lost (hard), but I’m always happy to see the community get this involved.

I’m a big fan of Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). I think it’s a better system than the traditional “whoever gets the most votes wins”... especially when the results are available in real-time. The inevitable result of a traditional vote is always the same:

Two candidates pull ahead of the pack, becoming the frontrunners
Anyone who hasn’t voted yet sees the two frontrunners as the only options, lest they “throw away their vote”
Instead of voting for the candidate they like most, they vote for the frontrunner they dislike the least

And the result is usually someone that only a minority are actually happy with.
On top of all that, live-results further exacerbate the problem. If someone likes the Penguin, but sees that it’s in 5th place (out of 10), they’re going to think that voting for the Penguin is throwing their vote away… even though that’s what they actually want to vote for.
This is where RCV comes in. With RCV, you rank all of the options from “want the most” (rank 1) to “want the least” (rank 10). Then we do the calculating…

We add up the highest-ranked candidate from all the ballots. If any candidate has >50% of the vote, they win!
If no candidate won, we remove the bottom candidate from the race. Then, we cross that name off of every ballot
Now that all the ballots are updated, go back to Step 1

(Technically, there are a bunch of versions of RCV… but instant run-off is the easiest to implement, easiest to understand, and gives very good results)

The best thing about RCV is that it’s always best to vote for the candidates you actually want! Even if they don’t win, your vote isn’t wasted. Your second, or possibly third or fourth or fifth votes will still get counted.

Community feedback from the Lost Island vote made it clear that while the community appreciated having their voices heard, we think it’s important to improve the process to let more of you be heard. In the spirit of open communication, once the vote closes and we announce the winner, we will make the final data available publicly (anonymously, of course). We are confident that RCV is the best way forward, and look forward to seeing you cast your votes.

This year we held our first-ever community creature vote for Lost Island. ARK community members submitted hundreds of entries filled with creative concept art and gameplay ideas. During the submission process, the community continually voted on their favorite ideas. Dinopithecus emerged victorious after rounding up the top 10 submissions!

In 2021 we launched ARK on Stadia™ with cross-play, enabling you to team up with thousands of PC players online or enjoy a solo Jurassic experience if you prefer to rough it out alone.

From Love Evolved to Winter Wonderland, 2021 saw no shortage of in-game ARK events and unique skins. The T-Rex inflatable costume went "ARK viral" as it spread in pictures and videos throughout social media.

ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition launched in the latter part of 2021 including everything the ARK franchise has to offer. ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition includes ARK: Survival Evolved, along with: Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Parts 1 & 2. All updated and optimized with every improvement made since the launch of the base game, adding up to thousands of hours of gameplay! As an additional bonus, this compilation also includes original soundtracks containing the music of ARK as composed by Gareth Coker.

This seventh year of participating in GameDay with ExtraLife puts us well over $450K raised and we couldn't have done it without the ARK community! We are grateful for our generous, supportive players, partners & sponsors, & the opportunity to help facilitate this endeavor.

Lost Island is the most recent Official Map that comes from the ARK modding community. Lost Island boasts 150 sq km of exploration and is the first map to include a community-voted creature. It's a pleasure to close out the year and holiday season by getting Lost Island and 3 new creatures into the hands of more ARK survivors!

At midnight EST on Dec 31st and midday EST Jan 1st, our Official Networks will be bombarded with raining gifts in a hail of fireworks to mark the end of 2021. And by bonanza, we mean, the drop rate of Rare, Very Rare and Legendary chibis will be dialed to over 9000!

Introducing Lost Island Free DLC!

Explore the soaring heights and hidden depths of ARK's newest official community map, featuring three new creatures for you to tame! Lost Island boasts 150 square kilometers of new biomes, new challenges, and mysterious ruins.

Discover jungle valleys fed by giant waterfalls, build a treehouse high in the forest canopies, get down and dirty in vast mangrove swamps, dive deep underwater, brave treacherous snowy peaks, or spelunk uncharted cave systems in search of treasure… There's something here for everyone!

Lost Island is the first community map released with three new creatures, and the first to include a creature chosen by the ARK community. Unleash thermal hell from atop your Amargasaurus, glide into battle with Sinomacrops at your back, or treat your enemies to a shower of Tek-disabling Dinopithecus dung!

A 150 sq km map with a wide variety of unique biomes to explore
Cascade Rift, a rainforest chasm carved by a flowing river and strung with thick vines
Mangrove Mire, a forbidding region of flooded swamplands
Castellate Peaks, a snow-capped alpine ridge that comes pre-fortified with stone fortresses

This aggressive sauropod from the Cretaceous period is a force to be feared across Lost Island. Amargasaurus’ formidable thermal spines will burn or freeze anyone unfortunate enough to stray into their range. Closer still, these titans can thrash enemies to shreds with their spiked tails

This perky, protective little Jurassic pterosaur can become a living glider for their master. From its perch on your shoulders, Sinomacrops will break your fall and let you soar away from trouble

Voted onto the island by the community at large, this baboon bruiser defends its master with remarkable ferocity. Dinopithecus will sweep you up with its tail and carry you up sheer walls on its back. Tame a troop of them, to unleash a hail of droppings packing a parasitic payload capable of shutting down enemy Tek

Winter Wonderland 6, Lost Island Launch, and More!

Deck the halls with boughs of holly! Winter Wonderland will be making a triumphant return with new presents and goodies for ARK survivors. The epic winter-themed holiday event begins on December 14th and will last until Thursday, January 6th. All maps will receive Winter Wonderland and all its content.

RaptorClaus will be sailing across the star-filled night sky in his sleigh, dropping off presents filled with high-end loot as well as Mistletoe, and Coal for those naughty Survivors. You'll be able to catch RaptorClaus flying across the skies at midnight (game time) on all maps.

GachaClaus is also making a triumphant return to help RaptorClaus spread the holiday cheer! GachaClaus will be roaming all maps looking for eager recipients while sporting holiday-themed colors. He will be accepting your coal and in exchange will gift you holiday-themed items, or you can trade-in your mistletoe and coal for a chance at an animated TV Show Parasaur skin, a full-body Santa costume, new skins, weapons, armor, or 5 new Chibis!

The Lost Island rollout begins with PC first then consoles later in the day on Tuesday, December 14th!

Explore the soaring heights and hidden depths of ARK's newest official community map, featuring three new creatures for you to tame! Lost Island boasts 150 square kilometers of new biomes, new challenges, and mysterious ruins. Discover jungle valleys fed by giant waterfalls, build a treehouse high in the forest canopies, get down and dirty in vast mangrove swamps, dive deep underwater, brave treacherous snowy peaks, or spelunk uncharted cave systems in search of treasure… There's something here for everyone!

Lost Island is the first community map released with three new creatures, and the first to include a creature chosen by the ARK community. Unleash thermal hell from atop your Amargasaurus, glide into battle with Sinomacrops at your back, or treat your enemies to a shower of Tek-disabling Dinopithecus dung!

In 2019, the launch of the Snail Games Initiative, Classic PvP, created an exciting and competitive playing experience for PC players. Throughout the course of the seasons, the meta was watched closely and changes were made to shake things up and create an experience tailored for PvP gameplay. Continue on the quest for the ultimate PvP experience with the introduction of Classic PvP Season 5!
Classic PvP Season 5 launches on the 14th of December with Lost Island!

Experience gain, taming, gathering have been quintupled compared to our standard Official Servers (5x)
Breeding, hatching, and raising rates have been quadrupled compared to our standard Official Servers (4x)
Tribes are set to 25 players max
Tribe alliances are disabled, though informal alliances are allowed
Servers have a maximum player count of 100
These maps will be available: The Island, Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, Lost Island, Valguero, and The Center
Tek dinos (Tek Parasaur, Tek Quetzal, Tek Rex, Tek Raptor, Tek Stego), Paracer, Tapejara, and the Titanosaur are not available for taming on Classic PvP
All Aberration and Extinction content is unavailable on Classic PvP
Scaling of weapon damage has been reduced
