Let's get this weekend started with a special 3x EVO Event that lasts until Tuesday! While you're here, check out some of our favorite community content in the Community Corner this week!

For the duration of this EVO Event, we will be disabling the world buffs from Baby Boon & Maewing Poach on Genesis Part 2 on the Official Network. In the past, we've adjusted for the impact events have had on the rates by tweaking the bonuses that we use during breeding events, however, those tweaks lead to unfavorable circumstances on maps that aren't Genesis Part 2, so during breeding events, we'll be disabling these mission buffs specifically as not to affect the bonuses on other maps.

So uhhh... I had never beaten a boss before and the people of the cluster I play on were going for tek cave but needed alpha dragon. So i opted in to do it and... I still to this day havent beaten a boss. The alpha dragon at the very end of the fight decided to aggro onto me, snipe me with a fire ball and killed me.
So yeah, my story of still not beating a boss

My good friend mhix likes to breed his Dino’s and let me get the babies or eggs from them. He did this with his otters several times. Each and every time I get a batch of his babies they die!!! Today I waited 7hours and 30minutes for them to give birth… I was prepared with tons of fish meat cooked and raw, was so excited too. The 7 hour timer I set went off, I quickly finished my meat run and got distracted. In that time of getting distracted I moved my young kittens to a safer spot in my room. Went to the living room to show my mom one of the kittens, we sat there for about 30 minutes when I realized I needed to get the otters. I freaked out and ran to my room quickly grabbed pods and ran to my friends base. I got there lagging and saw the babies heads. I started imprinting them all and led them away from the adults so I could pod them. They all died at the same time! There goes 7 hours of excitement

Community Crunch 331: PAX West Recap, Mod.IO Interview, and EVO Event!

Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch!

We had a blast at PAX West this year and cherished the opportunity to meet current and future ARK fans 😉. If you were in town, you probably had a chance to check out the life-sized HLN-A and acquire some of the heavily sought-after ARK swag. We've put together a recap of the community live stream and any moments you may have missed during PAX West.

In addition to the photo opp with HLN-A, eager ARK survivors were able to get their hands on the upcoming Ultimate Survivor Edition on Nintendo Switch. The upcoming launch on October 25th will include The island and Scorched Earth at launch, and add the remaining ARK and community content in intervals.

The completely rehauled version will include enhancements and upgrades to bring it into line, visually and functionally, with the experience on Xbox One and PS4!

We went live on Friday to share exciting news with the community and tease upcoming content coming to all platforms. new story cutscenes to conclude each ARK map, featuring actors Maddy Madden (The Wheel of Time) and David Tennant (Doctor Who). All of Helena’s and Rockwell’s Dossiers and Explorer Notes will also be voiced by the actors.

Jesse, Jeremy, and Gareth Coker sat down for a lengthy interview about audio design and how it can define game moments. Check out the full interview if you don't want any ARK2 spoilers 😉

Modding is a large part of ARK and ARK 2 will still be deeply rooted in its mod community. Upgrading to Unreal Engine 5 and partnering with mod.io has allowed us to introduce full mod support for console players!

Joshua Hines, our mod community manager, took some time to speak with mod.io and talk about what these upgrades may mean for ARK 2 and the modding ecosystem at large.

I was down deep in the red zone on abberation on my drake looking for the artifact of the stalker cave. Then two reaper queens started to chase me around and chased me right into a purlovia. I got thrown off my drake and the reapers broke some of my hazard gear. Then they focused on my drake and I was able to throw my extra set of hazard gear on, jump back on my drake, leave the red zone and didn’t go back for the rest of the day

It is a sad moment where you lose your first ever important tame that helped you through much. And that happened to me a long time ago, but let me tell you my story.

March 11 2020. - The quarentine just started in my country and I began playing ark just to free up some stress, and I'll never forget that time, Thunderdrum, my first ever trike, she was a level 67 since at the time I didn't know about difficulty level, so, in south zone one there is like a weird mountain and me and Thunderdrum wandered around, gathering berries, and thatch for our base, and then disaster struck, A therizinosaurus which I named Lyssa. We began avoiding her, until raptors attacked, she used the charge but ended up hiting the Theri, then the Raptor pounced on me, I got dismounted and began getting killed, and then, Thunderdrum proceeded to kill all the raptors, then we ganged up on the Theri...but alas, I ws too late. As the arrow of mine barely struck the THeri, Lyssa landed the finishing blow on Thunderdrum, killing her. I was mad, but then I understood that losing your tames is part of the game. And from that moment since, every single female Trike i've had, has been named thunderdrum. And I've killed every therizino I've encountered that has the similar color pallet to Lyssa, and everytime I get a Gravestone engram, I make a memorial for her.

Introducing Carcharodontosaurus

ARK: Survival Evolved - complexminded

Charcarodontosaurus will make a triumphant entry to ARK with a noteworthy set of abilities that puts it in competition with ARK's most feared carnivores! With a notable taste for blood, Charcarodontosaurus will become more frenzied as it gets its fill.

Common Name: Carcharodontosaurus
Species: Carcharodontosaurus medicupestis
Time: Late Cretaceous
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Aggressive

I feel lucky to have crossed paths with Carcharodontosaurus medicupestis and lived to tell the tale. Though I’m not sure if this predator grows bigger than a Giganotosaurus, I hope never to find out. Just one of these bruisers held its own against an army of us, and that encounter cost us dearly.

Carcharodontosaurus can sweep aside attackers with its tail, but it’s the other end you’ll really want to avoid. It has teeth like steak knives, set in jaws strong enough to shred most prey. Even a near-miss will carve you up, but good.

Like its namesake the great white shark, Carcharodontosaurus gets more dangerous once it tastes blood. Each kill seems to give these monsters a rush and drive it into a berserker frenzy.

Anyone that manages to tame a Carcharodontosaurus will gain a new way to rally their tribe for battle. There’s something about this monster’s roar that drives others to fight — a war cry for Hell’s own army.

The more tactical tribes will let their Carcharodontosaurus tear through the mid-sized creatures in their enemy’s ranks, thereby building up its bloodrage to take on the largest threats. Talk about shock and awe!

Carcharodontosaurus will make its way onto the ARKs later this year!

Community Crunch 230: Community Livestream, PAX West Booth, and More!

Greetings Survivors and welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch!

Next week we're kicking off the beginning of PAX West with a community live stream from the ARK office. At 10:00 AM Pacific on Friday, September 2nd, Cedric and members of the Grove Street Team will talk about the enhancements that are included in the upcoming release of ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition on Nintendo Switch. We'll also be doing a live version of the Community Crunch and going over the amazing community content from the week!

If you're in Seattle from September 2nd through September 5th, be sure to stop by our PAX West ARK Booth #325 (Main Floor - Level 4)! A real-life-sized version of HLN-A, complete with an incredible holographic display-face, will be in attendance to interact directly with ARK survivors – so whatever burning questions or comments you’ve always wanted to ask!

The ARK team and your cheery robot-AI guide, HLN-A, will be at PAX West ARK Booth #325 (Main Floor - Level 4) from September 2nd through September 5th! While #PAXRex and #PAXRaptor hibernate, we're bringing a well-known companion to help us navigate the PAX event floor! A real life-sized version of HLN-A, complete with an incredible holographic display-face, will be in attendance to interact directly with ARK survivors – so whatever burning questions or comments you’ve always wanted to ask her, this is your chance!

Also, survivors will get their first chance to play ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition on Nintendo Switch, developed by Grove Street Games. This month’s Wildcard cause was chosen in honor of members of our community who have been impacted by cancer. Many of our players are young adults - we're passionate about giving back to our community and we’ve opted to support a charity that focuses on that age group.

Today cancer is the leading terminal disease amongst 20 to 39 year-olds in the United States.

Despite advances in early detection, treatment, and prevention, there’s been no improvement within the last 30 years in survival rates for this particular age group — and in fact, the gap between the survival rates of young adults and those of cancer patients in other age groups is widening.

We believe technology and entertainment can help to bring people together and that gaming can be advantageous in terms of recovery and in coping during treatment:

Studies have also been conducted and show patient empowerment has been increased with the use of video games (Caldwell, et al 2013) Govender et al (2015) also found these benefits with cancer patients in particular, The researchers go to state “Empowerment interventions may enhance patients’ internal locus of control, resilience, coping skills, and self-management of symptoms related to disease and therapy.”

Cancer patients can commonly suffer with a phenomena known as “chemo brain”, where cognitive functioning is impacted (Simó, Rifà-Ros, Rodriguez-Fornells, & Bruna, 2013) video games have been proven to increase working memory, problem solving, spatial awareness and eye hand coordination and executive control functions (Hall et al, 2012; Shin, et al 2015, Adachi, & Willoughby, 2013).

With respect to our players battling cancer, we’ve donated to the Ulman Foundation, a charity that creates a community of support for young adults and their loved ones.

A very long time ago when I was an ark noob on the island, I had a phiomia I kept in a pen made of fences and let it wander around. One day I saw it had escaped and didn’t care too much since I could always just tame another phiomia. Fast forward a couple days and it’s the middle of the night, I go towards the woods of my base to harvest a bit of wood for my campfires and get knocked out by a bunch of troodons. But to my surprise, my phiomia comes running over to help me, draws the aggro of the troodons and fights them. She saved my life but died at the cost of it. Rest In Peace Princess Phiomia

Community Crunch 327: EVO Event, A Tribute to Uri, and More!

Greetings Survivors!

Recently the ARK PvP Community suffered the loss of a much-loved member, Uriel. He was a uniting force amid a varied group of players and multiple tribes. Uri endeared himself to everyone irrespective of their affiliation in PvP due to his sweet and funny nature along with being known for his amusing dances on stream.

Uri was someone who didn't allow his own adversities in life to dim the good-natured light he shone. We will all feel the absence of his warmth greatly.

We’d like to honor Uri, his tribemates, and his friends by sharing the absolutely heartwarming outpouring of love for him that was shown when an unprecedented number of our Official PvP players came together to memorialize him with in-game builds.

We have collated pics of players’ memorial builds to share with the community. A nod to Skittle for traveling to servers to take high-quality screenshots for mourning players.

A message for Uri from his tribemates and friends:
It is never easy to say goodbye to anyone we love, and it has been especially hard to accept the loss of our dearest friend, Uri. He reached out and touched the hearts of many around the world, whether it was being a tribe member, an entertainer through his streams, or an amazing friend. No matter what he was battling he remained selfless and put others' happiness before his own. It is rare to meet people like that, especially on the internet. Going forward, we have been thinking about what Uri would want and that would be to be happy, to strive for greatness, and to dance our way through the hard times. We will forever cherish the memories we’ve shared and even though he is not with us, he will always be in our hearts. We love you Uri, that sky border doesn’t exist anymore so fly high, king.

ok so i was flying on my argent and then i was over the water, paused my game (was in singleplayer) and then when i got back from eating my waffle i was still flying, then my bird ran out of frickin stamina. THEN then a jellyfish shocked me IN THE AIR and then i died tl;dr: dont fly over water with a bird with low stam

That moment you tame your first raptor and while sending it out to kill a dodo it hits a trike and you whistle passive by accident and by the time you whistle aggressive it kills your raptor and comes for you and so you need to get your group of dinos to kill it and go tame a new raptor
