Community Crunch 317: Fjordur Release Date, Breeding EVO Event, and More!

Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch!

Our next free expansion map, Fjordur, is right around the corner. On Sunday, June 12th, prepare to dive into Nordic-inspired adventure with 4 new creatures (Andrewsarchus, Fjordhawk, Desmodus, Fenrir) that are native to Fjordur!

Traverse a fantastical multi-layered wonderland with a frosty Nordic theme. Four unique islands, Vardiland, Vannaland, Bolbjord and Balheimr, and the mystical realms; Jotunheim, Vanaheim, and Asgard, offer elaborate cave systems resplendent with Scandinavian ruins and vast monolithic entrances.

Fjordur is the second community map released with completely new creatures, and the second to include another creature chosen by the ARK community. As we near closer to the launch date on June 12th, we'll be sharing more information regarding the timing of the rollout and servers!

On December 1st 2021 just 13 days before Lost Island released, my Dad passed away and it hit me hard. I wanted to honor him in ARK somehow so once Lost Island came out and i got on a community server, I built a memorial for my Dad on a little cliff just outside the castle in the Redwoods castle and placed the dermis of a Direwolf on top as he had a picture of a wolf on his computer that he took when me and him went to Yellowstone. Today would have been his birthday. Miss you Dad ❤️

Community Crunch 315: Fjordhawk Creature Spotlight, EVO Event, and More!

Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch!

Fjordhawk makes its Creature Spotlight debut in the Community Crunch this week!

Fjordhawk can be a useful companion if you're able to forge a bond with one by taming it. This playful species has made a game of tasks you might find daunting. If you need to fetch something, Fjordhawk can fly to nearby targets and retrieve them for you!

Fjordhawk makes its appearance when Fjordur releases in June 2022!!

The free DLC map, Fjordjur, is right around the corner! Here's a quick summary if you're looking for the dossiers of the new creatures. Will Andrfewsarchus, Desmodus, or Fjordhawk be your first tame on Fjordur?

Serving as the first winner of the Community Creature Vote, Andrewsarchus makes its way to Fjordur packing an arsenal of utility! Andrewsarchus may seem sluggish while foraging for a meal, but they can move unexpectedly fast when provoked. Once tamed, its saddle will allow you to mount a minigun to the back of it!

Announced as the third creature to land on Fjordur, Desmodus was the second winner of the Community Creature Vote! The original creature submission garnered a lot of attention and the rest is ARK community history! Desmodus won (39,781 votes) vs. Carcharodontosaurus (24,419 votes) in the 9th and final round!

As you might imagine, Desmodus prefers to hang out in dark places, waiting for its unsuspecting prey! If you're lucky enough to tame one, you can send Desmodus to snatch up small prey or saddle up and vanish into the darkness.

Looking to dive right into the action, Fjordhawk can forge close bonds with humans as wholeheartedly as any canine or primate. A tamed Fjordhawk is a surprisingly playful companion that is very capable of fetching targets that you point out. A well-trained Fjordhawk can locate injured prey and communicate its find to you.

"Happened a couple hours ago, was taming forest titan.

I begin putting all the tributes into the terminal, throwing out my mek, and activating the teleporter. Fast forwards 5 minutes, all is going well, minimal damage taken from both him to me and me to him. i take the final shot i had left in my cannon module.. direct hit! his arm falls down to the poisonous ground below. He looks at the damage i've caused, and roars. Swinging and swatting left to right at the forest wyverns like mosquitoes on a hot summers night. He takes a swing at me, shooting a large vine of roots and leaves.. my game freezes. I sit there praying i haven't crashed, fast forwards 30 seconds, all is good. I begin the shooting process until his 2nd arm snaps and falls. All that is left is one target. I begin shooting once again and he stops in his tracks, and raises his two hands, (as though he was surrendering) and stands their, allowing me to take down that final node, freezing him from the prison that was forcing him to do cruel and unspeakable things to others. He cried out in pain and freedom as he falls to the ground, unconscious. I look at my own two hands realising that i have finally taken down the forest titan. Solo. I give him a tap on the head, and he awakens, THE FOREST TITAN HAS BEEN TAMED beams onto my screen. Victory. I look at the forest titan, realising it was an alpha tame!

"Day 4, planetside

Seems I've escaped this galaxy's Belsavis only to end up on its Taris.

The teleporter looks to be a one-way affair. Supplies made it through, but everything powered by ""element"" was de-energized. It makes the surface almost uninhabitable. What's left of the locals is concentrated either in the ruins topside, or down here in what they call the Underforest.

They seem friendly so far. Finding the settlement was easy, lit up as it was in the dark. I was expecting less than a warm welcome given what I'd learned in orbit but was pleasantly surprised by their curious reaction.

The only rules seem to be basic decency, which I can do, and no meat. Even the carnivores here, somehow, don't eat meat. The leader, Magdeline, prepares some kinda special ""kibble"" and it seems to work VERY well.

I wonder how it tastes. The eggs are working well enough though, and these people can do a lot with berries. I don't think I'll have to go that route.

Besides, it's not like I have better options at present. No one here does."

Community Crunch 314: Fjordhawk Teaser, New Sponsored Mods, and More!

Two years ago during the annual Extra Life Fundraiser, we unveiled a new creature that would be added to the game along with Genesis 2: the Noglin. Within a matter of minutes, a Redditor combined the Noglin with the popular "Poggers" meme to create "The Poglin". Since then, the Poglin has taken on many forms, including a 3D Art version made by the very talented artist ImEnFuego. We got in on the fun added the Poglin Mask Skin into the game and history was made!

We greatly appreciate community-led efforts such as the Poglin. As such, we've decided to hold a Discord competition to see who can make the best Poglin Heart Emoji. The winning emoji will be added to the Discord for all to use.

Ark terrified me tonight. I was playing on Ragnarock, attempting my first Wyvern Egg steal. I was on my Pteranodon, Wasp, just kinda peeking in the trench and testing that Wasp could out fly the Wyverns. I was very nervous as I haven't really done this before. Then the weather kicked up. Rain and super loud thunder made my fear even worse. Upon hearing a second loud thunder clap, I had to stop. It was overwhelming. My goal is to eventually get all (er- most, not the void wyrm) wyvern types. I already have all the Crystal types. Now I'm on the last 4 types (poison, fire, lightning, and ice). I'm not giving up on this goal. I want to achieve this

I remember when I was playing with my friend in a server on mobile, since I don't have ARK on my PC. My friend had run off with a bunch of random tames to find a base location for us, while I was just building at the shore of spawn. I only had a parasaur and two dilos tamed, and my friend had a parasaur, dilo, baryonyx, and had recently got a free rex egg from someone. So what happened was I had recently finished building a thatch base because I didn't have enough engrams for wood or stone, neither did my friend, and I was AFK for some time in my small thatch base. When I was got back, I was about to leave my temporary base, but once I opened the door, I had seen a therizinosaurus right outside my base. I then closed the door, not wanting it to aggro me, and went to the back of my base. I was talking with my friend, who was working on their base somewhere, and then I eventually turned around to see part of my base destroyed by the therizinosaurus. I had no idea that dinosaur had seen me, yet I stayed in the back of my base and started shooting it with my bow. I somehow killed it about 5 minutes later, and I'm still impressed that I had done that since I was about level 17, I think. But that was also when I decided that I would head out to my friends base that they were working on, so I hopped onto my parasaur and started my journey. When I got somewhat closer to my friends base, I had spotted another therizinosaurus. Not only did it see me, but it also killed my parasaur and both of my dilos. It was a sad day, but I had eventually tamed a raptor, which made me a bit happier. It wasn't a high level, but I mainly used it for traveling faster. One I had tamed it and put a saddle on it, I continued my journey to my friends base. Shortly after, I came across a spino, and thankfully it didn't see me when I ran past it. Soon after that, a therizinosaurus came out of nowhere and killed my raptor. I ran for my life, and shortly left the server since I was completely lost.

Community Crunch 311: Andrewsarchus Creature Spotlight and More!

Greetings Survivors!

Today we're excited to welcome you to a special Creature Spotlight edition of the Community Crunch! Jump in for your first look at Andrewsarchus, in action. This opportunistic whippomorph is an upcoming creature included with the free DLC map Fjordur!

Mount a minigun and cause havoc with the upcoming Andrewsarchus saddle! Though Andrewsarchus may not be able to absorb as much damage as some of ARK's larger creatures, it's sure to cause a of mayhem while protecting its rider in an airtight enclosure.

this was back in the early days a couple weeks after gigas were added and back when it was a big deal to have them. We traded the alpha tribe on our server 50 metal foundations for a giga egg (yeah they weren't too bright giving away their giga lines for some metal foundations lol) We were on official pvp and back then dinos grew up much much slower. Cryopods were not a thing back then so we agreed to take turns with the night shift to feed it. Eventually we all got off for the day except the tribemate that had the first night shift. Next morning we got on to find that the tribemate who was on the night shift had fallen asleep at his computer and the giga had starved to death

From Monday, April 11th through Monday, April 25th, Eggcellent Adventure returns for the 7th year! Follow the trails of wild Bunny Dodo's and Bunny Oviraptor's to gather Bunny Eggs for special event loot. Place down Bunny Eggs to paint on them, or use them in a Crafting Pot to craft special holiday-themed cosmetics including 5 new chib's and a full-body bunny suit costume!

This event can be manually activated with the server arg parameter: -ActiveEvent=Easter

Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch! The return of Eggcellent Adventure begins on Monday! Grab your tribe and hop to all corners of ARK scrambling for colorful Bunny Eggs and eggcellent event loot.

Andrewsarchus makes its way to Fjordur packing an arsenal of utility! Andrewsarchus may seem sluggish while foraging for a meal, but they can move unexpectedly fast when provoked. Once tamed, its saddle will allow you to mount a minigun to the back of it!

I just went chopping wood for the industrial grinder, and when i came back to my base i got a few death notifications of my tribe's dinos. I had left the gate open and a level 100 raptor killed 3 good dinos. My tribemates won't be happy.
Moral of the story: leave at least a few dinos on neutral.

So one time while breeding theris I had a ton of extra ones that I didn’t need (ugly colors, bad muts, etc) so I wanted to get rid of them. I had been farming a lot of apex drops, knowing that once I was done breeding I would fight bosses. I had enough drops to run the broodmother a few times, so I took the theris into the gamma fight. Once it began it went really well, and I ended up winning. A few days later I decided to try my hand at the beta broodmother. After I started the fight it was only minutes until all of my dinos were dead, and I was running for my life. I did not survive

My friend and I were flying around on an argy (me riding and him in the talons). Needing to regain stamina we stopped on someone's base on a cliff. Below the cliff was a swampy area with a spino but we figured we'd be safe since we were on a cliff above it. Wanting to taunt the spino my friend shot at it. Moments before we witnessed hell I joked at him and said "watch it climb the cliff lol". As you might have guessed it climbed the cliff somehow and my friend made a break for it down the cliff in the opposite direction. By some miracle I hopped on the argy and picked him up literally milliseconds before the spino ran up behind him and attacked. Needless to say we didn't push our luck like that ever again, but it was really hilarious and epic that we clutched out of that situation
