https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nQDec_x5f0 Exciting news Survivors! The Megapithecus makes their debut in ARK: Survival Evolved as players can now face off the mighty beast and it's army of giant apes and monkey minions in their epic snowy-mountain lair. Patch 240 also introduces the ever-so-friendly, team-player, Lystrosaurus, which can be pet to temporarily enable an xp-gaining buff around it, the frightening Arthropluera, a giant and ridable centipede possessing a devastating acid-spit and the high-quality, blood-draining, "Prime Fish" Sabertooth Salmon and an interesting and exciting new form of combat with the primitive Bolas!
Lystrosaurus Aicifidelis: About two feet long, the loyal Lystrosaurus Aicifidelis is a small, resilient herbivore, that learns fast and therefore gains experience much more quickly than most other creatures, while also recovering its torpor and health much faster than most creatures. Its presence inspires allies, making them learn and gain experience more rapidly, too.
Arthropluera Felsanguis is large and a very aggressive hunter. It is almost entirely a military mount, useful mostly for attacking at a distance, and, thanks to its unique defenses, Arthropleura is generally safe from all but the largest of creatures. Arthropleura has acidic blood which it keeps ready to spit at its prey.
Oncorhynchus Grexlamia more commonly known as a Sabertooth Salmon, is a generally passive fish that swims in large schools for protection. Like many of the smaller fish on the Island, Oncorhynchus cannot be tamed, but it is often herded and raised for its resources. Certain ‘cuts’ are considered superb quality, and are often referred to as “Prime Fish” used for specific high-end concoctions. Once provoked, however, Oncorhynchus becomes very aggressive: It locks onto the aggressor with its long “saberteeth” to drain blood. Alone, this isn’t a worry, but when a school of them attack at once, their would-be aggressor quickly loses speed and stamina from bloodloss, drowning if it cannot breath underwater.
This patch also introduces the Primitive Bola! Wind these up and toss them at players and smaller creatures to temporarily trip and ensnare them. It can even used to knock enemy riders off their mounts, or pull down flyers from the sky! And finally the introduction of Tribe Member Rankings with Customizable Per-Rank Privileges! This enables Tribes to create arbitrary "Sub-Groups" within their Tribe, name them, and give them all kinds of detailed rank-based access privileges on your structures, inventories, and creatures. Effectively you can now create your very own caste-based society, with Kings, Nobles, Lords, and Serfs, etc.
We hope you guys enjoy the latest update, good luck conquering the Megapithecus, collecting your prime-fish, devastating acidic arthropod and of course the loyal and loveable Lystrosaurus!

We’re back again with another announcement straight from PAX East 2016! We told you that there would be a lot coming this week, and a bit of everything for everyone and we’ll be true to our words.
Studio Wildcard is proud and excited to announce the ARK: Official Mods program. What this means is that we’ll be able to take a step further when working with Mods and begin integrating them into our Official ARK System. We will be launching this program starting with The Center Map for PC in May 2016.
Designed by community member Ben Burkart, The Center adds an over-the-top, fantasy-themed map that doubles the size of the current game and is more varied than the original ARK map, with tons of new biomes, dungeons, floating islands, end-of-the-world waterfalls, massive ancient ruins, along with other wonders to explore and secrets to find. Drawn completely by hand without any auto-generated content, The Center is a massive increase in the game's official playable content and is free to players.
Following that we’ll be working hard to introduce more of your favourite mods to the game with Primitive+ (which is already an Official Mod on PC). In the case of Primitive Plus, players are challenged to use only wood and stone without the benefit of advanced metals to create weapons such as guns. A whole new set of items and detailed new mechanics focus the player on 'primitive' survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK. Primitive Plus will be playable as a functionality mod on all official ARK maps, not just The Island.
We really appreciate and value the hard work and effort that goes into the mods from the community and will do what we can to help, this new program is another step we’re going to take to ensure that modders get all the support they need and are recognized for their contribution and efforts in ARK!
Thank you for all your support and be sure to keep up with our PAX East show at www.twitch.tv/survivetheark for all the latest news and announcements! Don’t forget to give the #PAXRex a shout out ;).

Exciting news, Survivors! As of patch 239, you will now be able to spot Direbears prowling the island and the deadly Manta swimming off shore. Two new structures are also now available, the Chemistry Table and Primitive Cannon.
The first of our boss arenas, the Broodmother Arena, has been added to the ARK! The Broodmother battle is much more epic and dangerous now that Tribes must face her in her very own cobwebbed lair deep within the ARK… but bring some trusty Dinosaurs to the fight and you might just survive!
The Direbear is both enormous in size and territorial by nature. It is found primarily among the Island's mountain and tundra regions. It’s an imposing creature, ignoring most non-hostile creatures while going about its daily routine of scavenging for meat and edible plant life. That is until intruders enter the territory it considers its own at which point it viciously attacks. Most often it is smartest to just run from an angry Direbear. Once tamed the Direbear is a strong and reliable mount.
The Manta is a saltwater ray that has developed the ability to also swim into the Island's rivers and shallows, as well as through the open ocean. Normally docile, it is a carnivore only in that it consumes plankton. While not the fastest swimmer around the island Manta Mobula is among the deadliest of small ocean mounts and can be ridden bare-back. Tribes who value striking power over speed often keep large schools of Manta to ride. Its capability to briefly leap out of water provides it a showy tactic for avoiding combat as well.
We hope you guys enjoy the latest update, good luck conquering the Broodmother, collecting the fishes with your bear and we definitely recommend taking part in some exciting Manta Races!

Moschops cibumutante in the wild is a lethargic, cowardly creature that primarily lives in the forests of the island, primarily making its home among the great redwoods of the West. It survives by being extremely flexible in its eating habits and completely averse to fighting. It never starves, since it can eat just about anything. Moschops runs at the slightest provocation, but is still often preyed upon.
Domesticated:
What makes Moschops particularly interesting is what it can be trained to do with its eating habits. With a versatile palate and tough teeth, Moschops can be tamed for a unique ability: over time it can be taught exactly which things to gnaw, increasing the likelihood of harvesting that exact resource which its master desires. For example, teach it to prioritize chewing Prime Meat, and Prime Meat will be easier to harvest from the flesh it consumes. Likewise for rare plants materials, and so forth!
Just don't expect Moschops to protect, though. Even after taming, it will quickly flee when enemies are nearby. Regardless of being fed well, increasing its strength, or how much affection you shower on it--Moschops retains its inherent cowardly nature!

Welcome to the twenty-nineth issue of the ARK Digest! We hope you all enjoyed our April Fools shenanigans. We had a lot of fun with it and seeing your reactions over our social media definitely made our day. ;)
Let's start off with an important announcement!
International Modding Contest Voting
Earlier this year we were thrilled to announce the first challenge for modders with our very first ARK International Mod Contest! Putting content creators, new and old, to the test through making their own ARK Mod. We had over 100 entries between the three total categories, which was amazing! Looking through all of the different entries and seeing the level of skill and creativity blew us away.
Studio Wildcard is excited to announce the top candidates which will now be entering public voting. Community voting on the mod contest entries is now open!
Click the links below to be brought to the voting pages and see the finalists!
As a reminder, the contest is divided into the following three categories: · Mods: Extensions of current gameplay functionality · Maps: These are new ARK's to play on. · Total Conversions: These are complete 'overhauls' of the game which change core functionality. Make sure to vote for your favourite submission in each category!
PRIZES:
Fifteen (15) prizes will be awarded. 1st thru 5th, places for each category: · 1st Place: $10,000 in each category · 2nd Place: $5,000 in each category · 3rd Place: $3,000 in each category · 4th Place: $2,000 in each category · 5th Place: $1,000 in each category · $63, 000 TOTAL PRIZE POOL!
