Exciting news, Survivors! As of patch 239, you will now be able to spot Direbears prowling the island and the deadly Manta swimming off shore. Two new structures are also now available, the Chemistry Table and Primitive Cannon.
The first of our boss arenas, the Broodmother Arena, has been added to the ARK! The Broodmother battle is much more epic and dangerous now that Tribes must face her in her very own cobwebbed lair deep within the ARK… but bring some trusty Dinosaurs to the fight and you might just survive!
The Direbear is both enormous in size and territorial by nature. It is found primarily among the Island's mountain and tundra regions. It’s an imposing creature, ignoring most non-hostile creatures while going about its daily routine of scavenging for meat and edible plant life. That is until intruders enter the territory it considers its own at which point it viciously attacks. Most often it is smartest to just run from an angry Direbear. Once tamed the Direbear is a strong and reliable mount.
The Manta is a saltwater ray that has developed the ability to also swim into the Island's rivers and shallows, as well as through the open ocean. Normally docile, it is a carnivore only in that it consumes plankton. While not the fastest swimmer around the island Manta Mobula is among the deadliest of small ocean mounts and can be ridden bare-back. Tribes who value striking power over speed often keep large schools of Manta to ride. Its capability to briefly leap out of water provides it a showy tactic for avoiding combat as well.
We hope you guys enjoy the latest update, good luck conquering the Broodmother, collecting the fishes with your bear and we definitely recommend taking part in some exciting Manta Races!

Moschops cibumutante in the wild is a lethargic, cowardly creature that primarily lives in the forests of the island, primarily making its home among the great redwoods of the West. It survives by being extremely flexible in its eating habits and completely averse to fighting. It never starves, since it can eat just about anything. Moschops runs at the slightest provocation, but is still often preyed upon.
Domesticated:
What makes Moschops particularly interesting is what it can be trained to do with its eating habits. With a versatile palate and tough teeth, Moschops can be tamed for a unique ability: over time it can be taught exactly which things to gnaw, increasing the likelihood of harvesting that exact resource which its master desires. For example, teach it to prioritize chewing Prime Meat, and Prime Meat will be easier to harvest from the flesh it consumes. Likewise for rare plants materials, and so forth!
Just don't expect Moschops to protect, though. Even after taming, it will quickly flee when enemies are nearby. Regardless of being fed well, increasing its strength, or how much affection you shower on it--Moschops retains its inherent cowardly nature!

Welcome to the twenty-nineth issue of the ARK Digest! We hope you all enjoyed our April Fools shenanigans. We had a lot of fun with it and seeing your reactions over our social media definitely made our day. ;)
Let's start off with an important announcement!
International Modding Contest Voting
Earlier this year we were thrilled to announce the first challenge for modders with our very first ARK International Mod Contest! Putting content creators, new and old, to the test through making their own ARK Mod. We had over 100 entries between the three total categories, which was amazing! Looking through all of the different entries and seeing the level of skill and creativity blew us away.
Studio Wildcard is excited to announce the top candidates which will now be entering public voting. Community voting on the mod contest entries is now open!
Click the links below to be brought to the voting pages and see the finalists!
As a reminder, the contest is divided into the following three categories: · Mods: Extensions of current gameplay functionality · Maps: These are new ARK's to play on. · Total Conversions: These are complete 'overhauls' of the game which change core functionality. Make sure to vote for your favourite submission in each category!

Much love, Wildcard Jen & The ARK Survival Evolved Team!
Today, April 1, we have drastically changed the direction of ARK: Survival Evolved -- rechristened ARK: Survival Devolved --, fully realizing our vision of creating the most realistic survival simulator ever where Dinos Ride Humans. So get in the game to saddle up and ride your favorite person!
In other evolutionary news, we have added three new deadly creatures to the ARK! The unpredictable furry Woolly Rhino, the armored, deep-water Dunkleosteus, and the chitin-rich Eurypterid! These new critters introduce advanced ways to attack and defend, bulk up on armor, and to travel the deep seas with greater defenses than ever before.
The Woolly Rhino is a large, usually friendly herbivore but can turn into a dangerous creature when charging its attackers. It builds up momentum as it charges, and depending on its ultimate impact speed, players can skewer the largest creatures in just one single gore!
Dunkleosteus is a large fish that is covered head to tail in armored plates and has incredibly powerful jaws that make great work of stone and oil formations in the ocean’s depths. It’s an excellent battle fish that is heavy with armor and a terrifying bite that tears through chitinous shells.
Found only in the deepest watery depths on the ARK, Eurypterids are dangerous Arthropods that, while not smart enough to be tamed, are rich in chitin and provide a debilitating poison that quickly renders its opponent unable to defend itself. The Eurypterid digestive tracts often containing Silica Pearls, or even have incredibly rare Black Pearls used for manufacturing mysterious technologies making them among the most valuable creatures on the island.
In addition, today marks the start of our Extinction Event official servers. These servers will reset after each month, with an in-game countdown and dramatic meteor impact to signal the end! These time-limited servers are a great way for new players to start on a level playing field and a challenging gameplay choice for those who want to see how far they can progress before the end of days! Participants will earn badges to mark their accomplishment.

Happy 1st of April, Survivors! Wildcard Jen & The ARK Survival Evolved Team
It’s been a little while since our last Digest, we’ve had a lot going on! Getting lost at tradeshows, attempting to find snap-points when putting together furniture in our new offices, not being prepared for the seasonal elements of Spring, as well as the launch of our free game, Survival of the Fittest and our tremendously hazardous caves! We’ve got a bit to catch up on so let’s get this started!
Survivor League
We are excited to announce that the first Survival of the Fittest Survivor League is officially LIVE! You can keep track of when this round ends by heading over to our Survivor League page and checking out the countdown to see when the top-ranked players will be archived into the league. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Survivor League, here’s a run down!
What is Survivor League?
The Survivor League is a hall of fame that intends to honor and preserve the top 40 Survival of the Fittest players of said period. At the end of every league, we will be celebrating the highest-scoring players, which will be visible in real time, by both archiving them and announcing them as the Survivor League for that month.
How long does each Survivor League last?
Each Survivor League will last approximately 30 days. Players will be able to see when the next winners are announced by visiting:
At the top of this page, there will be a visible clock which will highlight how long is left until the winners are archived and the next session begins. This page will also contain a current leaderboard which will display, in real time, the survivors who are currently top of the rankings. Keep in mind, those survivors may not be the ones who make it into the Survivor League at the end of the session, as they will need to keep their place for when the timer hits zero.
When does the first Survivor League start?
The first Survivor League will be announced on April the 15th at 12PM Eastern. This means that all active games now will count towards the first league and players are able to keep track of when the winners will be archived by checking the clock at the top of Survivor League page.
How will the ranking system work?
Ranks are determined by the amount of score you have in each specific game-mode. When the clock hits zero, the Top 10 Ranking players in each of the 4 game modes, a total of 40 players, will be declared and entered into the Survivor League. Following this, the new clock will begin ticking for the next Survivor League.
Ranks will not be reset after each month has been awarded so it is entirely possible for players to stay on the league for multiple months, however a player’s score may start to decay if a player has not played for over 1 week.
What are the benefits to becoming a part of the Survivor League?
There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Survivor League. First of all, the top 10 players in each mode will receive a cash-prize dependant on their placement on the rank tables. The prizes will be distributed as following:
These prizes will be allocated accordingly to all 40 members of the Survivor League for that month. Survivor League members will also be archived and celebrated throughout the game in the Survivor League Archives and members of this exclusive and honorary league will be invited to upcoming broadcasted Tournaments, so getting into the league is not just a way to win a large amount of money and glory, but also a way to earn even more prizes and glory in the future. We are serious about the Survival of the Fittest becoming a serious competitive e-sports game and with that, want to celebrate players who are dedicated and perform to the highest standard!
Disqualification from Survivor League
Any player found to be exploiting the game by gaining an unfair advantage through the use of unintended mechanics or third party programmes will risk being disqualified from the league. Studio Wildcard holds the authority and discretion to determine what gaining an unfair advantage would be and will step in if necessary. Disqualification from Survivor League may result in, but is not limited to: being permanently banned from ARK Survival of the Fittest, stripped of all Survivor League titles, forfeiture of any unpaid monetary prizes and prohibited from entering or participating any tournament.
Changes made to Survivor League
Studio Wildcard holds the right to make any changes to the terms of participation, the methods of qualification, and the prizes for for Survivor League as they deem necessary. However any such changes will be notified to players in advance and will not have an effect for 30 days.
This does not impact balance or other such changes to the game mode, Survival of The Fittest, only to the terms of the Survivor League and its associated prizes/titles/rewards, etc.
Good luck to all those competing and may the best survivors win!
