While the Compsognathus is one of the of the smallest predators on the island, ARK Survivors should pay close attention to its behavior, movements, and numbers. Alone, Compys are unafraid of humans and are neither dangerous nor aggressive which makes it an ideal pet that is curious and attentive to human endeavors and their tools. In larger packs, however, the diminutive little creature remembers its carnivorous nature.
When a group of Compsognathus congregate, they intuitively transform into an aggressive, carnivorous pack. Their distress call carries quite far, rapidly alerting the tribe and its pets to danger more efficiently, which also increases the likelihood of a few Compys quickly forming into a 'Compy Gang.’
ARK v224 also adds a powerful high-tech Rocket Turret, homing Sea Mines to aid in water defense, Wall Lamps to light up your ARK home in an aesthetically pleasing manner, persistent Tribe Logs for players to track and monitor their Tribe’s activities and events when they were offline, and a new system for Survivors to design and craft their own unique food and drink recipes -- so “Bob’s Bronto Burgers” can now open up for business!

We’re very excited to announce the ARK Alienware Mod Contest finalists!
First of all we’d like to thank everyone who entered their mod to the competition, we've been really pleased to see how well the ARK modding community is developing. David B - France - ARK PirateWorld Oyvind R - Norway - Terra Nova Initia Ricardo M - Germany - Shigo Islands David M - USA - Valhalla Alex M - UK - Eggrassic Park Jake B - USA - Advanced Architecture Mod Cedric B - USA - Primitive+ Sam J - USA - UMASSOURA Thomas V - France - Pimp My Rex Matthias W - Germany - Tribe Wars
The next process of the judging period will begin where we will narrow down our Top 10 to a Final 3 who will take home their share of over $25,000 in prizes! We’ll be looking to announce the winners of the competition by December the 8th! Good luck!
Throughout the days leading up to the final, we’ll be broadcasting one of the finalists on our twitch channel, www.twitch.tv/survivetheark - playing through it for a while and showing off what they had to offer! The first one will be on Sunday the 22nd at 6PM EST. Be sure to keep an eye out on our social media feed to see when we go live!
Here’s a first tease of the ARK Survival of the Fittest "Naughty or Nice" Charity Event. Not to be confused with main ARK game's upcoming "Winter Wonderland" re-theme, the "Naughty or Nice" SotF Charity Event will pit two 100v100 Tribes against each other in a massive 3-hour war across a redesigned snowy 'base-vs-base' SotF battlefield, with holiday themed accessories.
The 100-winning tribe members will get to distribute their share of the loot to charities of their choosing, as well as receive a special Xmas present of their own! Entrants will include many previous Tournament winners, streamers, developers (bonus $$$ for killing developers!) as well as an limited open contestant qualifier.
Stay tuned for more details, and keep your SotF skills sharp!

Like typical Anglerfish, the Melanocetus primarily uses its bioluminescent light pods to attract smaller fish and trick them into coming close enough for it to consume the prey. This often makes wild Melanocetus itself relatively easy to spot among the briny depths. Whether its size is caused by adaptation to the island's other inhabitants, or by cross-breeding with another larger species, Melanocetus Anglerpescum is one of the largest form of Anglerfish. Additionally, a tamed Anglerfish can use the natural light at the end of its stalks to illuminate the depths for safe exploration, and the luminescent nodules can be harvested to create long-lasting fuel and organic light emplacements for surface homes, too.
The Kairuku Waitaki, on the other hand, is an amazingly docile and friendly creature. Kairuku are useless in a fight, but they nonetheless are tamed for their cuteness and friendly nature, kind of like a pet, and the incidentally cool fact that their bodies run extremely hot. Survival Tip! Standing near Kairuku can help keep a survivor warm through long, harsh nights on the icebergs.
The Kairuku’s only defensive trait: Suspended in Kairuku’s blubber are small, dense particles that act as a light form of armor. Adding to Kairuku's problems, a clever survivor discovered that refining Kairuku blubber can yield a natural form of the same polymer used in advanced tribes' manufacturing processes. This has caused many tribes to hunt Kairuku extensively, especially the blubber-rich infants, a practice colloquially known as "Kairu Clubbing."
Furthermore, in this update, the new “Tribal Warfare Alliance” system allows Tribes to formally declare war against each other for specific mutually agreed-upon timeframes, encouraging large-scale set player-vs-player confrontations rather than offline raiding! Survivors will also find a realistic Creature "Fur" pass, primitive siege Catapult and a modern-tier Gatling Gun Turret to defend their homes with!
Midweek Madness!

What an intense several weeks it has been! We’ve all been through a rollercoaster of emotions over the Survival of the Fittest: The Last Stand series, with a ton of fights, tears, tames, deaths and an outrageous number of poo-flinging monkeys!
For those of you who didn’t have a chance to catch The Last Stand: Final Round - you can watch the full VOD here; or check out your favourite streamers most recent broadcasts, as they may have casted their POV!
Without further ado, we’re proud to announce the end of the Last Stand series and winners of the last championship, The Last Stand: Final Round! So let’s congratulate our winners and all of the contestants for putting up a very great competitive showing!
And let’s not forget the other rounds that took place! There were many survivors who invested a lot of time and energy into playing these high-stress, high-value, high-pressure games. Here are our victors throughout the tournament!

Incredible -- the only word which can justify what happened! Following the SoTF Tournament, we went live with our marathon ExtraLife stream with our excellent hosts, CannibalQueen2107 aka Erin and Forest Rapczak!
