Survivors! Some very exciting news. We’re proud to announce that today is the start of our biggest and fiercest tournament to date, with over $60,000 in prizes!

‘The Last Stand’ will be the final Survival of the Fittest event to take place in 2015. Its open preliminaries will start from September 24th and the event will end with a championship match, featuring 230 survivors on October 24th. During the course of the event we will be periodically be showing streams of the competitions when the servers are live at www.twitch.tv/survivetheark

Survivors will be able to get a chance to qualify for the tournament by participating and winning in the preliminary rounds. These will be open to all gamers from Noon EST to 8PM EST on the following days:

Thursday, September 24 and Saturday, September 26
Tuesday, September 29, Thursday, October 1 and Saturday, October 3
Tuesday, October 6 and Thursday, October 8
Tuesday, October 13 and Thursday, October 15

The winning tribes from the Preliminary rounds will be exclusively invited to the ‘Last Stand Pre-Championships’ which is being held from Noon - 8PM EST, on the following days from which the top 160 finale contestants will be selected!

Saturday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 20

After the 160 final survivors have been selected, they’ll go head to head with and against 70 Twitch streamers in an epic and ultimate tournament which is scheduled to take place on:

Saturday, October 24th

Prizes for ‘The Last Stand’ October 24th Championship Include:

First Place Winning Tribe receives: $24,000 (split six ways)
Second Place Winning Tribe receives: $12,000 (split six ways)
Third Place Winning Tribe receives: $6,000 (split six ways)
Each of ‘The Last Stand’ 230 entrants receives a $100 Steam Gift Card
All three Championship Winning Tribes will receive an in-game Gold/Silver/Bronze Trophy Structure Skin, customized with their Tribe details, for everyone to marvel at with envy!

Unlike the regular Survival of the Fittest, The Last Stand will feature some new changes! These include;

Three Boss Creatures!




At key points through the match, each Boss makes an appearance available for taming at the central platform. That includes the Broodmother, the Dragon, and the previously unrevealed Giant Ape, who can easily smash through forests and throw huge boulders to demolish survivors and their dinosaurs.

Six Player Tribes
Stay in competition longer as extra-large teams have more chances to claim victory!

Improved Competitive Game Balance!
This time, you won’t advance by hiding in a box. ;)

Four New Evolution Events: The world-altering events are triggered by player-voting so that the audience can participate in the action!
Acid Rain: Seek cover! This red-tinted rain won’t quench your thirst, but it will chew through your armor and slowly sap your Health!
I Love You, You Love Me: Mate-Boost effects are doubled! An ideal time to launch your assault with gender-paired creatures, but be careful about wild mates, as they can be extra dangerous.
Hail to the King: A powerful explosive item is dropped at every player’s position… use it wisely!
Food of the Gods: This extra-special Mega Loot crate contains instant-taming Feed.

Hey Survivors!

Welcome to the first Special Edition of the ARK Digest! We’ve got TONS of content released this week and the team is very hard at work to get that out to you! Due to the sheer amount of what needs to come out, we’re going to be releasing it in batches. We’ve mentioned some of what you can expect to see in various places across the board, but we’ve decided to give you a little bit of a teaser so you can know more of what to expect ;)! We’ll also be delaying this week’s regular Digest as the team will be working through to get the content out, but don’t worry - we’ll make sure we hit you guys with a double-header for the next - however you can still send in your questions here!

ARK Patch Notes!


The first of several Major Updates to come out this week will be version 214! This will include a ton of new content, bug fixes, technical fixes and more! Some of the cool things you can look forward to playing around with are;

Yup, that’s right! Another major tournament and awesome new changes to the game mode including some new friends, new extinction events and game balance! More details to come later this week ;)

Swamp and Snow Biomes







The above map represents where the new biomes will exist on this ARK. If there are any structures which have been created in a way that they do not conform to the terrain, the game will automatically demolish them on Friday, so you guys will have a week to move bases. We’re still trying to avoid any wipes as much as possible and will continue to do so up until release. Sorry about any inconvenience guys, this is all part of the early access program and as the game continues in it’s development cycle and the ARK continues to… evolve... things like this are always a possibility.

Welcome to the sixteenth issue of the ARK Digest! For those who missed the previous issues, check out the Announcement forum section on the Steam Community Hub and be sure to catch up with what you’ve missed as there is tons for you to catch up on!


Earlier this week we created a mega thread in the general discussion section of the boards. This will be used as a focal-point to inform you of on-going situations with ARK, generally unrelated to its development but more so other aspects of the game. This is a thread you guys will want to look out for as it may mention key issues such as server downtime, server relocations, the introduction of new regions, as well as anything else we want to bring to your attention - we’ll be updating it frequently. It’ll also help keep our boards a little cleaner.

State of the Game


We’re excited to be introducing Nubsly as our Head Game Moderator! He’s been an active part of the team thus far in monitoring the servers, the forums, bringing concerns to our attention and funneling reports to the right places. From today, he’s going to be leading the efforts across ARKs looking out for cheaters, and publicly banishing them from the game and dealing with the oversight of servers.

We’re coming for you cheaters!




Patch 207 introduced many first-pass features into the game, such as Warpaint for both Dinos and Survivors, Mobile-Bronto bases and Rafts! A lot of this is still being worked on daily to be improved based on the feedback we receive and the bugs you report (love you guys!), so it’ll get a lot better!

However we’re also excited to see the new-level of gameplay this introduces to our creative-friends! The Community Crunch runs two weekly contests, #ARKitect and #ARKArt! The former being related to the structures you guys build and the latter regarding what you paint!

With the new additions to the game, we have opened up entries for warpaint images, human and dino tattoos/bodyart for the #ARKArt award as well as bases both on your Brontos and Rafts for #ARKitect!

We can’t wait to see the platform bases, the ships and tattoos/bodyart! So if you haven’t submitted something but want to show off what you’ve made, you can do so here!
