Yes! This is something we definitely want to include in the ARK world. In fact, we’re working on it right now and hopefully you’ll be able to see the fruits of our labour in a few weeks. We actually spoke about this a little while back, during a twitch stream!

We’re increasing the variety of things that can happen to you if you don’t look after yourself! There could be some potential “long term” illnesses, such as catching the flu if you’re hypothermic for too long, or getting heatstroke and hallucinating! Definitely something we think would be cool and want to work for ARK. Of course with this there will be new added items and tonics to help counter these effects!

Hello Survivors!

Welcome to the fifth issue of the ARK Digest! For those who missed the previous issues, check out the Announcement section on the Steam Community Hub and be sure to catch up with what you’ve missed.

It’s been a helluva week, seriously! The last time we had a Digest we had announced that had sold over 100,000 units in 12 hours. One week later, this figure has more than quadrupled. We’ve sold about 500,000 copies! The game is a massive success and we really appreciate all the support and help you’ve given us in getting this far. This is a promise that we won’t let you down, we’ll create a magnificent game together and we will release something truly special!

Not only have we have we sold that many copies, but also we have maintained top 10 on Steam regularly, even at times holding the top 3 spot! For a new game this is an incredible feat, no other early access game has ever had such a successful start! We have become the fastest growing Early Access, seriously the amount of hours you guys have already played is staggering! By tomorrow afternoon we’ll have likely hit OVER 7,000,000 HOURS! That’s nearly 800 YEARS of GAMEPLAY… IN JUST OVER A WEEK!! Everyone at the Studio is over the moon and we’re all buzzing to get working even harder! If you thought you were impressed by our work ethic before, get ready for something even better.

We started off rough with an average Steam review of 44% this has now switched to a mostly positive review rating of 72%! Though we aren’t going to get complacent. We’re going to aim higher and higher to ensure that this is the best open world survival game to ever exist! You can count on it.

And Steam isn’t the only place we’re being noticed! Since we’ve launched we have regularly held a top 5 spot on Twitch! At times, the biggest-stream on twitch has been ARK: Survival Evolved! There have been TONS of footage, loads of fun, laughs and even a few tears! The amount of passion shown towards the game is nuts, we cannot believe it, so thank you everyone! We’re here for you!


For those of you who haven’t been aware, we’ve been hosting a special event-filled week, known as “Jurassic ARK Week”, in the run-up to our favorite dinosaur movie on Friday, Jurassic World! We’re hosting loads of daily competitions, giving out prizes and have a lot planned for this coming Friday where we’ll be releasing our Jurassic ARK Content patch! Absolutely, and it will BLOW YOUR MIND! The lore plays a key part to the game and it is essential to the upcoming Ascension game loop. Ooh, what’s Ascension you ask? Well.. that is a question indeed! ;) It’s going to be some epic Matrix-level plot developments; soon we will be adding the in-game ruins and clue systems that flesh out the story and provide more quest-based objectives to progress. You’re gonna love it!

It’s an absolute pleasure seeing what you guys create in our world and we cannot wait to see how these bases will grow in the future :)!

We wanted to see your grand fortresses, your hidden mountaintop bases, your tiki jungle villages, your shark-infested ocean-hideouts. Anything that you guys think would be awesome and unique, send it our way and we’d love to see it :) Bonus points for custom paint jobs!

Congratulations to Sam Lawrence! Not only is he a master when it comes to creating a base, but it turns out he’s ARK’s first real estate manager! He’s putting up cabin for sale so definitely get in touch if you’re interested! We quote from his listing:

Survivors have a lot of things to worry about when they enter cave, from the poisonous spiders, the tranquilizing scorpions, the behemoth cave-dwelling snakes, and the ever-screeching bats… however this is a cave which holds much more than darkness. A cave where survivors have forgone the beauty of the landscape, entering the ARK’s dark abyss, either they’ve lost their minds… or know something that we do not.

A 50$ Jurassic World Fandango E-Giftcard is a small price to pay for the brave survivors who dare live within this dangerous chasm.





Congratulations to Etienne La Count! Clearly a survivor who spares no expense for the best. A base crafted out of the purest of metals, making use of advanced technology, we wonder how expensive their utility bills are for this electrified, watered condominium?

Here are some of the fancy new gameplay features you can expect to dig into with Friday’s major update:

Tribe Governance features: do you want to be full utopian Communist where everything is shared, rapacious Capitalists with absolute private property, or something in between? Now Tribe founders can choose!

New Structures: The Metallic Spike Blockade for stopping incoming Dinosaur attacks, and the Food Storage Bin for preserving your food over extended periods of time and turning beef into jerky... mmmm beef jerky!

Flyers can now carry other dinosaurs, not just humans. C4-Packing Dodo Air Drop anyone?

And yes, significant performance enhancements, especially for those with mid-range to lower-end graphics processors :)

Hello Survivors!

We hope you’ve all been having a great time playing ARK! We’ve loved all the pictures, the tweets, the videos, everything! The feedback especially, positive and the negative, is tremendously helpful for us to improve the game and take it to the next stage! Now we’ve got a fun ARK-wide special event to announce: with the upcoming release of the latest movie from our favourite franchise, Jurassic World, we will be hosting a week full of fun events and content as a thank you for all the support you’ve shown!

Every day will have a different theme and we’re hoping we’ll get to see a ton of snazzy shots from all and every brave Survivor, we’ll compile the runner-ups along with the winner into a post and tweet the winner. Hello Survivors!

We hope you’ve all been having a great time playing ARK! We’ve loved all the pictures, the tweets, the videos, everything! The feedback especially, positive and the negative, is tremendously helpful for us to improve the game and take it to the next stage! Now we’ve got a fun ARK-wide special event to announce: with the upcoming release of the latest movie from our favourite franchise, Jurassic World, we will be hosting a week full of fun events and content as a thank you for all the support you’ve shown!

Welcome to… Jurassic ARK!


Firstly, we’ll be kicking off the show with a screenshot contest! Each day from Tuesday until Sunday we will be selecting at least one winner every day who has taken a screenshot which matches our criteria the best!



Every day will have a different theme and we’re hoping we’ll get to see a ton of snazzy shots from all and every brave Survivor, we’ll compile the runner-ups along with the winner into a post and tweet the winner. Each daily winner will each receive a $100 Jurassic World Fandango E-Giftcard for you to go with your friends and family to watch the new film! Submissions should be sent to contest@studiowildcard.com, and received by 4pm EST each day. The winners will be announced at 5pm EST via twitter and your giftcard will be e-mailed to you.

Tuesday Day 1: Coolest Human-Dino pair

You know how they say that a person’s pet represents who they are? Well we want to see the most appropriate human-dino-prehistoric-scifi-creature-pairing ever! Send us your screenshots of you and your soul-mate Dino!

Wednesday Day 2: Coolest Base

And not as in temperature! We want to see your grand fortresses, your hidden mountaintop bases, your tiki jungle villages, your shark-infested ocean-hideouts. Anything that you guys think would be awesome and unique, send it our way and we’d love to see it :) Bonus points for custom paint jobs!

Thursday Day 3: Coolest Tribe

Gather your friends and family and take the most epic group screenshot you can! This could be at feast, after a hunt, or during the construction of the coolest base. We want to see a great group shot that shows the world just how amazingly distinct your Tribe is!

Friday Day 4: Epic Environment

There are a lot of beautiful spots across the ARK, many of which remain undiscovered by any player, as far as we have seen. Go out, explore, uncover the beauty that is the island and send us those magnificent environmental screenshots (which can also include you & your pals); a beautiful sunrise over the mountains, an epic sunset across an ocean, a lazy afternoon as a Parasaur herd crosses a grassy field, whatever inspires you about the world of ARK. It’s about time we changed our Windows wallpapers :)

Saturday Day 5: Official Server Broodmother Trophy Shot

Have you got what it takes to slay the Broodmother? Do so on an Official server, take a screenshot of the brave warriors who took part alongside the carcass of the beast! (Please also include a screenshot of the Pause Menu so that we have proof it took place on an Official Server :)

Sunday Day 6: Gotta Tame em all! Dino-saur!

Do you have what it takes to the very best?! Like no ever was?!!! To tame them is your real test, to mount them is your cause!!!!!!!! You should travel across the ARK, searching far and wide. Each creature to understand, the mystery that’s inside!!!!!!!. Dino-Saur, Gotta tame em all! --- We want to see EVERY TAMABLE CREATURE IN ARK, TAMED (& Saddled where appropriate), ON AN OFFICIAL PVP SERVER, TOGETHER. DO IT. MAKE IT AS EPIC AS YOU CAN. USE PAINTS, LIGHTS, EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!

Bonus: Jurassic ARK gifs!

Everyone loves memes. If you say you don’t, you’re kidding yourself. It’s okay, we don’t judge ;). We’re in love with them ourselves <3. When you guys send us photos and gags, it’s absolutely hilarious – so we’re looking for some animated ARK gifs based on the Jurassic Park franchise! Submit them and you could be one of our Bonus winners on any day!
