Barnabas Toth from Hungary has now added a Worlds victory to his long list of wins in previous seasons. He came very close in 1:10 ISTC but ran out of battery just 50m before the finish line, this time het got it right and won in convincing style some 7 seconds clear from runner up James Le Pavoux from the UK, and and another 2 seconds on Jerome djay Delcourt from France. Peter Might from the UK missed the podium by just 2 tenth of a second as Delcourt managed to defend a hard charge from Knight in the very last lap after a crash 2 laps before the end.
The debut of Rally X (or Rally Cross) was a great success with 389 racers attending this very first event. With 2 more Rally X layout planned for the harbor complex and another Rally X conversion of the Messina on-road trtack, this new class will surely continue to build momentum amongs virtual r/c racers. 2016 IFMAR World Champion David Ronnefalk from Sweden has claimed his first VRC World Championship title by winning the 15 minute long A-Main open final 1:8 electric buggies at the RC Tracks of Las Vegas off-road track, the very same track Ronnefalk won his IFMAR Worlds title 3 months before. 2014 VRC World Champion Marcin Maliński from Poland took second 2nd some 9 seconds back on Ronnefalk, and pole-sitter Warren Jones from the US snatched away 3rd from Swede Robert Hillman in the very last corner.
For David Ronnefalk it was a 'take off and never look back' final without too many trouble. Warren Jones had the speed but got himself in trouble just too often, clearly lacking the consistency that David demonstrated with his commanding lead. Just 3 laps before the end Jones was back in 5th but managed to clinch 3rd place right on the finish line.

David Ronnefalk, 2016 EFRA European and IFMAR World Champion 1:8 nitro buggies, has started his quest to add a virtual Worlds title to the prestigious Worlds title he won in Las Vegas back in October '16. Ronnefalk, an early VRC Pro adapt, will compete in both the 1:8 electric buggies and in 1:8 nitro buggies VRC Worlds.
David topped the table on day 2 of the Timed practice in both Open and Spec class electric buggies but some fierce competition is awaiting him when it gets serious in Qualifying.
This video shows David’s Wednesday 'fastest time of the day' run.
