Today we are releasing Town of Salem 3.3.5. This patch adds some new limitations on the symbols allowed to be entered in chat, last wills, death notes, and notepad to help minimize character substitution by those seeking to circumvent our chat filters. We also stomped some bugs. Happy hanging!


CHANGES
• Chat, Last Will, Death Note, Notepad: Restricted the allowed characters and symbols that can be typed. This was to prevent players from using certain non-English characters that looked like English ones to bypass the filter.


BUG FIXES
• Customization, Lobby: Fixed missing Coven lobby icon.
• Featured Items: Fixed Mafioso character in featured items appearing to be purchasable with MP when it is not.
• Report Player Dialog: Removed Inappropriate Account Name as a reason, added Leaving as a reason.
• Crash: Fixed a null reference exception that could occur.

Today we are releasing Town of Salem 3.3.4, a quick patch to address an issue in the players list on the End Game screen for Ranked games. We also removed the Crusader message from the list of available messages the Hypnotist can use in Classic games. Happy hanging!

Hey Townies, today we are releasing Town of Salem 3.3.3, a minor release focused on QOL tweaks and bug fixes. The most noticeable QOL improvement is that you can now ignore people in Party Chat and in Lobby Chat. The full list for this release is below.

IMPROVEMENTS
• Party Chat and Lobby Chat: You may now mute/ignore people in the Party Chat and Lobby Chat. If somebody is posting bothersome things, feel the satisfaction of turning them off! If you mute somebody in the Party, that mute will carry over to the Lobby as well. So what happens if the offending person leaves the lobby after you have muted them, and then they return to the lobby to further offend you? Fear not, muting is persistent for the session so when that person returns, they’ll still be muted. Be aware that muting in the Party or Lobby does NOT carry over to the game itself. If the person continues to post offending things once the game starts, you’ll need to re-mute them in game.
• End Game - Added Lobby Icons to End Game screen players list.
• Lobby Description: The description for the Serial Killer has been updated to mention their Cautious ability.
• Chat: Added additional URL types blocked in chat.
• Removed link navigation confirmation for non-mobile platforms.

CHANGES
• Passwords: The ampersand symbol (&) has been removed as an acceptable character for new passwords.

BUG FIXES
• Game Engine: The game engine has been upgraded to Unity 2019.4.15f1, bringing with it additional underlying bug fixes.
• Tooltips: Fixed an issue that could cause a tooltip to not disappear when its parent was destroyed.
• Chat: Added horizontal and vertical tabs to the characters that are stripped from chat messages.
• Fixed a null reference exception disconnection that could occur due to a bug in the underlying text controls in Unity.
• Fixed a null reference exception disconnection that could occur during the water wheel role reveal.
• Fixed a null reference exception that could occur on mobile platforms when showing an ad.

Today we are releasing Town of Salem 3.3.2. This release will include the start to Ranked Season 5! This release delivers on a frequently-requested feature: a Role Library showing every role in the game and its associated information. This release also includes a few QOL tweaks and a slew of bug fixes. The full list for this release is below.


Ranked Season 5!
We will also be starting Ranked Season 5 as soon as we are confident most of our players have upgraded to the latest version. We will be using the most recent experimental list we put up as it seemed to have the most positive feedback on the balance of it, and our numbers seem to agree with this. With the last season being so long, and so many changes being made recently we will be doing a hard reset for this season. Below is the list that will be used:

NEW FEATURES
• Role Library - The new Role Library provides a card-like view of all the roles in the game and their associated information. Coven roles will only be seen if you own the Coven Expansion. The Role Library is accessible through the Burger Menu’s Settings Help tab.

IMPROVEMENTS
• Tooltips/Hot Links - Tooltips and hot links have been updated for better placement, responsiveness, and formatting.
• Chat - Obvious URLs are now prevented from being sent or received in chat. Sending links is against the Rules, which are accessible on the Game Mode selection screen via the Rules button.
• Game - The active Game Mode is now shown in the Nameplate in-game.
• General - Enabled incremental garbage collection on supported platforms (Non-WebGL) which should result in reduced lag due to garbage collection.
• Game Engine - The Unity game engine has been upgraded to 2019.4.14f1. This brings a slew of underlying bug fixes and enhancements.

BUG FIXES
• Startup - Fixed an issue with our web version showing as a white screen when running on Big Sur OS.
• Keyboard - Fixed an issue with mobile screen keyboard sometimes not opening.
• Registration - Fixed the Email field validator improperly blocking some valid email addresses during registration.
• Registration - Reduced responsiveness of scroll wheel scrolling on Registration Notices large text fields.
• Home - Fixed an issue where logging on as restricted user, logging off, then logging in as non-restricted user caused incorrect display of Featured Items.
• Customization - Fixed some sizing oddness when first displaying character and pet on first open.
• Game - Fixed some positioning and scaling of the John Hathorne character skin.
• Game - Fixed some positioning of Blitzen pet during the last words and execution phases.
• Game - Fixed issue where pet animations were incorrectly displaying during Blast Off deaths.
• Game - Changed the Savant of Business achievement description to account for Coven Mafia roles now being available to play in Classic.
• Game - Reduced the amount of zoom while focusing in on executions.
• Burger Menu - Added a Confirm Email button under Help tab.
• Burger Menu - Added a Delete Account button under Help tab.
• User Disconnected - Fixed an issue during the Name Selection/Role Reveal phase that could result in a disconnection.
• User Disconnected - Fixed an issue when Forger was promoted to Mafioso that could result in a disconnection.
• Crash Fix - Fixed a mobile issue that could result in a crash.

We want to thank you all again for testing out the latest Ranked rolelist, and all the feedback you have given! From what we have seen the Mafia might be a bit too strong in this current list. We are going to make another set of tweaks to see if it brings things more in line with what we hoped for. Check out the latest changes below:

One of the biggest issues with the previous list was that Mafia could quickly gain voting majority if the Town made 1 or 2 mistakes. We felt this didn't allow for enough skill expressions from other players if 1 or 2 of the Town fumbled. There was also the issue of the NE being a little to random, and it sometimes feeling like an Exe or Jester didn't really contribute to the Mafia as much as a Witch. With this list the guaranteed Witch should help prevent some of that swing. The Exe being in the game means that there is a sorta of half to quarter extra evil. While the Exe or a jester could be detrimental the Mafia, it is generally in their benefit to cause problems for the Town. The Exe also allows for some amount of plausible deniability to why a Mafia kill did not go through as well.

While it is still not certain this will be list used, or even if the Mafia Vs Town style of list will be used for the coming Ranked season we appreciate everyone's feedback, and help gathering data.

Thank you for all the testing of the new Ranked Rolelist you all have done over the weekend. We hear your feedback on the new list, have looked over our data, and have determine that we missed the mark. We are going to update the list by changing a Random Town to a Random Mafia making the game a 9 v 5 v 1, and we are changing the Ambusher back to a Mafioso to prevent issues of the Godfather getting constantly roleblocked. We know some of you will still not be happy with this as you wanted a Neutral Killing in the list, but we want to give the Town V Mafia list a chance before we get rid of it completely. Please continue to give your feedback! We will be monitoring the data, and that feedback over the coming days. Below is the list that will be going live shortly.

Based on the the thread we posted about potential new role lists it seemed that players liked the idea of a Town V Mafia role list with no Neutral killing role. We feel that this kind of role list could be a refreshing change of pace, and address some issues players had with how ranked as a whole functioned. We will be posting a new ranked role list soon!
