Hey Townies,

Today we are going be pushing a patch that has a few small changes in it that should help to prevent some abuse of the game, and add support for future things. Check out everything being changed below.


Preparing for future content!

We are adding support for the Kickstarter items so that when the codes are sent out all of our backers will be able to use the new items. We want to thank everyone who backed us during our Kickstarter and hope you enjoy all the new items!

We are also adding support for Trial System rewards, such as a new Judge skin, and Juror and Judge lobby icons. We will explain how to get these rewards at a later time.


Game Play Changes!

We are raising the player limit needed to start a game in Custom and Rapid game modes to 7 from 2 to match all other game modes. This change is being made to help prevent abuse cases where people were farming games, and achievements to top the leader boards. One user in particular was topping several charts thousands of games ahead of other users. This player's stats have been stripped. We are open to the idea that there may be fun game modes that can be played with less players, and we don't want to limit those modes if we don't have to. Bug Fixes!

Fixed a bug that didn't cause Coven Custom and Rapid game modes to have scaling Merit Point rewards based on game length. This applies to Coven Custom as well.
Fixed a bug with two bundles that was causing them to not grant all the items that they contained. We have retroactively fixed this for users affected and they should now have all the items.

We will be using the data we get from this season to make improvements to roles, the role list, and more for Season 3. Below is everything that is coming with this patch.

Ranked Season 2 Begins!

Season 2 is going to be starting, and with that we are going to be doing a hard reset of rating. This means that everyone will be starting at 1200 rating when they do their placement matches. Sadly because of the bugs that plagued Season one we weren't able to gather any trustworthy data, this means that balance changes for this season are a bit light.


Balance changes

With the lack of trustworthy data the only changes that will be coming with this season are a small investigative results change. We will be swapping the Witch and Amnesiac in their results. The Survivor, Vampire Hunter, or Witch result was a bit unfair for the Witch in non-Coven ranked games. With the Witch being in a result with Lookout and Forger the Witch should have an easier time in ranked games, and the Survivor, Vampire Hunter, and Amnesiac result will just not be possible since these roles are not possible in those games.


New Cosmetics!

Jack Frost, the Spirit of Winter is now Salemified!


And of course Jack never goes anywhere without his trusty pal, Iceberg!

Bug Fixes!
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the Pirate to die to a dead Pestilence if they selected to duel Pestilence during the day that Pestilence was hanged.
  • Fixed a bug where as the Trapper if you placed a trap on a player the night they died to the Vet that the trap would persist. This would mean the Trapper would have to deactivate his trap to be able to place one again.

Today is the end of Ranked Season 1. We will be running a short off season, but will then start Season 2. During the off season your rating will not change if you win or lose a game. There won't be many changes done to Ranked for Season 2 as most of our data from season one is not exactly accurate due to all of the issues. We hope this season will be better, and we will be paying closer attention to issues related to ranked in the future. We want to thank you all for your help in finding the issues that plagued Season 1 so that we can make Season 2 a great one.

Today we are announcing the end of Season 1, the start of Season 2, and a hotfix patch to address an exploit user PeteMailer on Reddit reported.


End of Season 1 and Start of Season 2

As most players know, there was a ranked bug that allowed users to leave the game if they were going to lose and would prevent them from losing Elo when doing so. This took us far too long to find and patch and we would like to sincerely apologize for this. We will be improving our QA pipeline with our newest hire, an experienced QA manager. The issue, however, left long term effects on Elo. We have spent the past month investigating the impact it had, and deciding what to do about it. After looking at the effect it had, talking to community members about potentially resetting elo or talking Elo away from the abusers, we have decided to end Season 1 early and wipe the career high leaderboards. With the start of Season 2, we hope that all of the issues that would effect Elo have been fixed and Season 2 will be a true representation of our communities skill.

Season 1 will be ending December 4th, and Season 2 will be starting shortly there after. Players will be awarded season rewards as Season 1 ends.



Exploit Hotfix

PeteMailer submitted a bug report on 11/25 detailing that the order in which votes where sent down at the end of the voting phase was correlated to the roles in the game. This was due to the votes being sent down based on role priority. This has been fixed and is now completely random. We are thankful that someone posted such a lengthy and detailed guide on the issue and this allowed us to find the bug and fix it quickly.


Other bugs that have been fixed.

Fixed an issue that would cause the Jailor to receive the "You didn't perform your day ability" message when turned into a Vampire.
Fixed an issue that would sometimes show your target's defense value was too high if the player you attacked was jailed and had an a defense value that would have saved them.
Fixed several achievements that would not be granted when the goal was fulfilled.
Fixed an issue when selecting the "No Pet" option that would not save and continue to use the pet that was previously had selected.
Fixed an issue that would cause a Vigilante to die of guilt if the Necromancer had used them to kill a townie, but was later revived.

The Savior of Salem is a simple, easy to learn, multiplayer RPG dungeon crawling game. You fight monsters, grow your mob, work with and backstab other players in order to be the first player to overpower the Coven and become the hero of the Town.

Starting with 3-6 players each player draws their starting hand. Some cards allow you to grow your mob, give your mob bonuses, or mess with other players.

Every turn a player searches a house. If there is a monster in the house the player must fight it. With each monster you defeat you get rewards which can include more mob members, equipment for your mob, identities, items, and more.



Sometimes you will stumble upon a monster you can't beat, and you can ask other players for help in exchange for some of the rewards. Other times you may be able to beat a monster, but the other players can make that monster stronger, or even add more monsters to the fight!

The first player to have 20 mob members will be able to overpower the evil doers, regain control of the town, and be the Savior of Salem!
