Today is the day. We are releasing patch 1.2.0. This is a big patch, and will include a ton of new features. We are adding in a new role called the Forger, the Scroll system, a new pirate themed bundle, a new Refer-A-Friend system, new pets, new maps, new skins, new houses, fixes to Elo, we added Rainbow mode to the Chaos games, and did some UI reworking. We will be bringing down the server soon, and it will take at least 2 hours to get the patch live! Please be patient while we patch.

New Refer a Friend system!

Elo Fixes
* Elo you gain/lose is now based on the role you were in game.

Forger
* The Forger is a new Mafia deception role which can replace the last will of a person. The next time you see a last will, there's a chance you can't trust it!


Scroll System
* The scroll system will allow you to increase you chance of being the role you want to be! NOTE: Scrolls do not work in Ranked play.


Boatload of Swag Starter Pack
* This Pirate themed starter pack has everything you need as a new player or a grizzled veteran.


New Characters
* Grim Reaper is the reward for successfully referring 5 friends.

* Forger skin (see Forger above)

New Pets
* Friend, Not Food is the reward for successfully referring 3 friends.

* XJ-0462 is the cutest robot around!


New Maps

With patch 1.2.0 comes the new (and improved) Refer-A-Friend System.

Why was Refer-A-Friend changed?
The old RAF system seems to only greatly benefit the YouTubers and Twitch streamers (Our top 10 accounts with the most friends referred are Markiplier, ChilledChaos, Minx etc...). We want to introduce a system where our average users can obtain the highest tier rewards by inviting a few of their friends to play Town of Salem!

The NEW RAF Rewards
1 Friend Referred = 100 Town Points
2 Friends Referred = 100 Town Points + Lobby Icon

3 Friends Referred = 100 Town Points + Fish Pet


4 Friends Referred = 100 Town Points
5 Friends Referred = 100 Town Points + Grim Reaper Character



How To Refer-A-Friend
When creating an account on the forums, Steam or Facebook there is an optional input field to specify a friend to refer. Simply put their username in the box. For Steam users the friend referred will immediately receive their RAF rewards. For browser users it will require purchasing any amount of Town Points from the shop or purchasing cash only items like the "Boat Load Of Swag" bundle.

Why the in-app purchase requirement for RAF validation?
The old Refer-A-Friend system would require users to play at least 10 games before the RAF reward would be given. This was to help prevent users from making multiple accounts and referring themselves. With the new reward system being much more enticing we struggled to come up with a solution to prevent users from making alternate accounts and AFKing or Botting through games only to cheat the RAF system. We do not want the RAF system to impact the quality of games by motivating that kind of behavior. With the requirement of being a Steam user or making an in-app purchase there is no longer a motivation for users to make alternate accounts or AFK through games to collect RAF rewards.

All users with successfully referred friends will be auto granted the items on patch day.

Town of Salem - a game of murder, deception, lying and mob hysteria

Town of Salem challenges players on their ability to convincingly lie as well as detect when other players are lying.


New Features:
End Game Screen
- The new End Game Screen is a new post-game lobby where you can chat with the people from your game, add people as friends, see their in-game roles, report players and see their account names.

Moderator commands
- The new mod commands will allow for in-game moderators that can chat, warn, suspend or perm ban people during live gameplay. Remember before doing anything against the rules that there might be a mod in your game!

Ranked Queue Release!
- Welcome to the first pre-season of Ranked Town of Salem! Every player with at least 50 games played can play ranked and starts with 1200 ELO. Your ELO is your current ranking in Town of Salem and when playing Ranked you will be grouped with people with similar ELO. As you win ranked games, you will earn more ELO. As you lose ranked games, you will lose ELO. After pre-season, ELO will be reset to start the first season of Ranked play. People near the top of the standings will be getting various rewards at the end of the season.

New Shop Stuff
- New Character 'Candy'
- New Houses 'Bozo's Fun House' and 'Drop Ship'
- New Map 'Final Frontier'


Statistics
- While not currently being displayed, we have started to collect Player, Global and Role statistics for use later.

Bug Fixes:
Fixed the missing shadow on some of the characters rock death.
Various client improvements for faster/smoother play.
Fixed a glitch with the Doge.
The host from cannot visually add roles after the start timer kicks off.
Camera will not go off screen on big resolutions.
Fixed several server crash bugs.

I have been getting a lot of emails of people who are confused why they weren't credited their $5 worth of Town Points when they first login so I wanted to let everyone know the process to get those points.

When logging in on the game you must do the following:

* Click the 'Login with Steam' button.
* Click the 'Link Account' button to link an existing TOWN OF SALEM account or click 'Create Account' to create a new account with us (this lets you login on the forums, browser version of the game, etc)
* After logging in with the Steam button (using the information about your TOWN OF SALEM account, not your Steam account), you should be rewarded with your 1300 points :)
