The Kingdom Pass is a new event that runs when we release a new Kingdom.
A Kingdom Pass will run for 5 weeks starting when a new Kingdom releases. Over the 5 weeks, the new Kingdom will have several events that will unlock new content for it such as a New Hero Class, a Faction and a Bounty Troop.
While the Kingdom Pass is running, players will encounter a Legendary troop from the new Kingdom as a battlecrasher in PvP and Explore. Defeating it will give a Kingdom Crown.
Kingdom Crowns are used to progress through levels of the Kingdom Pass. Each level needs 5 Kingdom Crowns.
Each level of the Kingdom Pass gives a free reward. Players can also choose to purchase the “Royal Kingdom Pass” which will give an extra reward each level.
Players will only be able to earn a maximum of 10 Kingdom Crowns per day, with the chance to encounter the Kingdom Battlecrasher decreasing after players have encountered it 5 times. This will reset daily.
Players can access the Kingdom Pass Menu from the World Map, and it will have a notification icon when there is a reward available to collect.
There are 50 primary Levels for the Kingdom Pass.
Some details for the rewards in the Kingdom Pass are below:
Kingdom Troops: Several Troops from the new Kingdom will be available from the Kingdom Pass. Some are available from the Free Pass, and some are only available from the Royal Pass. Here are how the troops in the kingdom will release:
1 Common Troop - Will go directly into gold chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom)
1 Rare Trop - Will go directly into gold & glory chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom)
1 Epic Quest Giver- Will go directly into glory, gem & VIP chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom)
1 Legendary Troop - Will go directly into glory, gem & VIP chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom). This will also be available in a shop pack.
1 Ultra-Rare Troop - WIll be available in Free AND Royal Pass reward tracks. This will go into glory & gem chests after 2-3 months.
1 Epic Troop - WIll be available in Free AND Royal Pass reward tracks. This will go into glory, gem & VIP chests after 2-3 months.
1 Tarot Legendary Troop - Will be available in the Royal Pass only, and will go into the Vault after 2-3 months.
1 Legendary Troop (the Battlecrasher) - Will be available in the Royal Pass only, and will go into glory, gem & VIP chests after 2-3 months (this will also be available in shop bundle).
As weekly event troops or mythics appear for the kingdom after release, they will follow the regular release patterns for those kind of troops.
Kingdom Weapons: These weapons will only be available from the Kingdom Pass and Royal Pass when the Kingdom releases. They will become available via other means after the Kingdom Pass ends when the new Kingdom is featured in a weekly event.
Kingdom Pet: Royal Pass players will be able to earn enough copies of one of the new Kingdom's Pet to ascend it to Mythic. This Pet will also be available as a scheduled Pet Rescue or via random Pet Gnome Rescue when the Kingdom releases.
Resources: Some levels will reward resources that players can use to help level the new Kingdom or improve the Troops.
Once players reach level 50 in the Kingdom Pass, if they have purchased the Royal Pass, they will also gain access to 5 extra levels that may be repeated by earning extra crowns from the battlecrasher.
Players may spend 100 Gems to skip a level and earn Kingdom Pass rewards faster, or to assist reaching the end if they have fallen short. This option is only available up to level 50.
It cannot be used after 50 for players who have access to the extra Royal Pass levels.
Royal Pass players also have the option to purchase a Royal Pass Boost which will earn them 10 Levels in the Kingdom Pass. This is a repeatable purchase available to Royal Pass holders at any level, even for the bonus Royal Pass levels past 50.
We have added a new type of event to the game - Journey.
In Journey Events, players use a team made of a Troop Type and Mana Color, to defeat battles and earn Miles.
Players will be presented with a choice of paths to take and battles to fight. Harder battles will be worth more Miles, but will cause future encounters to increase in level faster.
Each path shows you the maximum miles you may earn as well as the level and type of enemies. You may lose some miles under certain conditions:
Lose 2 miles for each empty allied troop slot at the end of battle
Lose 1 mile for each turn past 10 that it takes to win the battle (up to a maximum of 10 miles lost)
If you lose a battle, you will be awarded 1 mile for each enemy killed, up to a maximum of 5 miles.
Some Battles will give bonus rewards of either: resources (Gold, Souls or Glory), or Skill Points (Life, Armor, Attack, or Magic) that will apply to future battles in the Journey Event.
Battles will be against a team comprised of a Troop Type - this is indicated by the icon on the map.
The first 10 battles will contain Troops up to base Epic Rarity. After that all battles will have Troops up to Legendary rarity.
After every 4 Battles, players will encounter a choice of 3 paths that will include a Boss Battle. The boss battle will be worth the most miles, but will be much harder than the other battles and will always contain a mythic Troop.
Boss Battles will be easy to tell from the other battles as they have a different frame from the other two battles and will be on the middle path.
Players are still able to choose easier battles instead of the Boss Battle to progress.
The Journey Event Shop will feature a new Guide Troop, as well as a new Weapon, and social collectibles (Portraits, Emoji Sets, and Titles).
The Guide Troop possesses the Pathfinder Trait. This trait will multiply the amount of miles from battles in which the troops fight (based on the guide troop’s level of ascension).
A Guide Troop's bonus will only apply to the event where they are the featured Troop. And can only apply once per battle (you will not get 2 bonuses if you have 2 guide troops).
Journey Rewards will be earned from a Guild's progress (like Raid Boss and Invasion).
Journey Leaderboards will be focused on a player's individual progress (also like Raid Boss and Invasion).
With the introduction of the Kingdom Pass, we will begin to introduce new Kingdoms and content for players to unlock. As mentioned above, these New Kingdoms will have several events which will serve to introduce new content to players over the Kingdom Pass. This includes:
New Troops: While several Troops will be available in Chests when the Kingdom releases, some will release either with events, weekly glory, or mythic release during the Kingdom Pass period. Others will only be in the kingdom pass. Eventually all these troops will move to chests (except the Tarot Card as noted above).
New Weapons
New Hero Classes
New Factions
New Pets (the number of Pets may vary based on the Kingdom)
New Banners
Our first new Kingdom, Nexus, will be released in a few weeks so please keep an eye out for it's announcement.
We have 2 new Achievements for this update:
I Would Walk 20,000 Miles: Earn 20,000 Miles in a Journey event.
It's Elementary: Match 100 Elemental Stars.
We have reverted the recent changes to Potions of Power, so players can view their bonuses on the pre-battle screen again.
We have introduced a new special event, Gnome-a-Palooza.
Gnome-a-Palooza is a timed event lasting 15 minutes.
Gnome-a-Palooza can be started by crafting in the Soulforge, after collecting 4 unique Verses.
These Verses are only dropped by the 4 members of the Gnome band, Mana Surge, Cindi Savagelips, Freddi Fretfiddler, Hoagi Humbucker and Baz Bonebeater.
These Gnomes will crash battles in a similar way to regular Treasure Gnomes.
Each Gnome will drop 1 of the 4 Verses, so players will need to find and kill all 4 to get enough Verses to craft Gnome-a-Palooza.
Once Gnome-a-Palooza has started, a new music track will play for the duration of the event. Also, a timer will display on the World Map, showing the remaining time left for the Gnome-a-Palooza event.
While Gnome-a-Palooza is active, 4 random Gnomes will appear in all PvP, Quest, Challenge, and Explore Battles.
Also, while Gnome-a-Palooza is active, all gold earned from battles is doubled.
Gnome-a-Palooza only applies to the person who crafts it (so it is not shared by anyone else).
If you craft Gnome-a-Palooza, while Gnome-a-Palooza is running, the time will stack.
There is a known issue where the Gnome-a-Palooza timer will not display if it runs for more than 1 hour (you’d have to craft 5 at once for this to occur, so not very likely).
There is a known Issue where the enemy Hero is not replaced in PVP during Gnome-a-Palooza, however Gnome rewards are still being given like normal (as if the Hero was replaced).
To ensure that the Mana Surge Gnomes will always give a verse, they do not have chance to give a Vault Key (even during Vault Events).
Mana Surge Gnomes will be added as a possible drops to Cedric’s & King Cedric’s loot at weekly reset next week. This gives time for players to update their game to the 5.6 update.
As part of the celebration for 5.6 release, we will be running a special Gnome Vault event for 4 days starting daily reset on Thursday July 13th (AEST).
We have added several new Heroic Gems in this update. Some of these we will reveal in future Campaigns or special Events.
With the introduction of Heroic Gems, we wanted to prevent the rare case where the board gets locked up without any available moves. We have added a board reset to the puzzle game. If there are no available moves on the board, the board will be completely cleared and refilled with new Gems. All troops will also be completely Mana Drained (even if they are normally immune to mana drain), to prevent any spell combination that could cause the board to lock up in an endless loop.
We have introduced 2 new Warbands for you to try out, Dark Assassins and Poison Fangs. We will be removing 2 Warbands – Armored Legion and Entangled Woods, as the new Warbands will be replacing them.
Armored Legion and Entangled Woods will return at a future time.
To ensure that everyone has a chance to update their game, the new Warbands will be released at Daily Reset on Thursday AEST. This helps prevent the new content causing issues for players still on 5.5.1 version.
We have made some changes so that Lycanthropy should behave more like the spell Transform effect.
Lycanthropy will now halve the level of the Troop when it is transformed.
We have changed the visual effect when Lycanthropy transforms a troop. As the previous version was causing confusion due to the similarities to devour.
We have added a new sound effect for Lycanthropy when a troop is inflicted with Lycanthropy and when Lycanthropy triggers on the troop.
We have made changes so if a Valraven or random Gnome is transformed by Lycanthropy, they will still give their rewards.
We have made changes so if an Enemy required for a Campaign Task is transformed by Lycanthropy, it will still count as a kill for the Task.
We have added 2 new Achievements for this update (applies to Steam, Xbox One, PS4, and Android only)
The Rolling Gnomes – Craft a Gnome-a-Palooza Event. Mic Drop – Earn a Verse from a Mana Surge Band Gnome.
With Gnomes causing mischief all over Krystara, they have caused the first time Gem Purchase bonus to be reset, allowing everyone to take advantage of it again.
The Skip Button for Campaign Tasks should now display the gem cost on the button.
Players will now be able to select and view popup help or information for different rewards on the Warband Booster Pack menu.
We have made some changes to Uber Doomstorm so it has it’s correct graphics for while the Storm is active, and adjust the chance of an Uber Doomskull appearing.
We have added a new Storm, Howlstorm, that will increase the chance of a Lycanthropy Gem appearing while it is active.
Like Uber Doomstorm, this storm can currently only be conjured by spells or traits that create a random storm.
We have fixed an issue where Doomskull damage was sometimes calculated incorrectly in complex gem matches.
We have fixed an issue where Create Gem spells that target Doomskulls, or Uber Doomskulls were just creating Skulls.
We have fixed an issue where Players were unable to equip a weapon card by dragging once the card is removed from the team by selecting the remove button.
We have fixed an issue when a new Event Medal’s graphic would have a display issue when they were equipped over an old event medal.
We have fixed an issue where the background for War Cache or War Hoard in the Daily Deal did not fit correctly.
We have fixed an issue where Troops in Advent Calendars were not displaying in the ‘Today’s Offer’ reward section.
We have fixed an issue where a Tiered Offer’s stock would display as restored after purchasing all stock from one of the offers.
We have fixed an issue where the Total Banners in the Collection Progress Screen was not counting Warband banners.
We have fixed an issue where the scroll arrows disappeared when a filter was used and there were less than 11 results.
We have fixed an issue on Switch, where teams with Doom Troops could not be shared correctly.
We have fixed an issue where the Gem cost for skipping a Campaign Task was not displaying on the Task Option menu.
We have fixed an issue where the player’s equipped pet would go missing after the hero’s spell is cast a 2nd time or more.
We have fixed an issue where the total number of pets in the collection progress screen was incorrect.
We have fixed an issue where a player was unable to select a player profile in the Leaderboard when using the controller for the first time.
We have fixed an issue where players kicked from a guild could still chat in the guild chat.
We have fixed an issue where the Guild Menu background would not display after completing a Guild Wars battle.
We have fixed an issue where Lycanthropy Gems’s power to inflict Lycanthropy to a random Troop would still trigger if the Gem was removed.
We have released a hot fix for the 5.5 Update to address the following issues:
Lycanthropy caused the game to crash when it triggers on a Hero
This issue has been fixed but we have delayed reverting changes to Lycanthropy and Essence of Evil until early next week. This will give players a chance to download the hot-fix.
Create Gem spells that can target Skulls would created invisible Gems
We have fixed this issue. Like Lycanthropy, we will be reverting changes to The Devoted, Justice, Loyalty, Courage, Humility, Sacrifice and Honor early next week to give players a chance to get the hot-fix.
There is a known issue where if a Doomskull or Uber Doomskull is targeted, it will create Skulls rather than those Gems. We will have a fix for this in the 5.6 update.
This hot-fix will be available on Steam, iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.
We have introduced new kinds of Gems. Heroic Gems are Gems that have special abilities which activate when they are either matched, destroyed or a set condition is met.
Heroic Gems will only appear as a random spawn in battle games for a limited time as part of Campaigns or Special Heroic Gem Events. However, there may be troops and weapons that will create these Gems as part of their spell.
They will appear in all battle game modes such as PvP, Explore, World Events, Raid Boss, and Guild Wars.
We will be able to run multiple Special Heroic Gem Events at once too, so players may experience different combinations of Gems from time to time.
When 5.5 releases we will only have 1 new Heroic Gem active for players to enjoy, the Uber Doomskull, a more powerful version of the Doomskull.
The other Heroic Gems will be introduced and explained with the Campaign or event that they will be part of. We anticipate many new Heroic Gems releasing over time!
We have made some changes to Campaign Tasks to reduce some of the friction in completing certain tasks.
We have changed the ‘x’ button on a Task to be an arrow so it is easier for players to see.
This new button will bring up a new popup menu where “Skip Task” and “Do Task” options will be available.
A new Task option will also be available on this menu: Reroll Task.
Reroll Task will allow players to reroll a Task to another task to complete instead.
Each Campaign Task can be rerolled once.
Once a task is rerolled, the player must complete or skip the new task. The new task cannot be rerolled.
E.g. Bob the Barbarian rerolls a Gold Task requiring him to use a Weapon Type, and gets a new task to Win Ranked PVP battles. He cannot reroll this new task, and must complete it or spend Gems to skip it.
Doomed Weapons The Doomed Blade, Doomed Crossbow, Doomed Club and Doomed Cauldron have all had their affixes that created a Gem changed to a new affix that debuffs the Enemy.
Legendary Traits Text Improvement We have improved the text for all Legendary Traits that give Mana to Allies at the start of battle.
Dooooooom! – Match 50 Uber Doomskull Gems
They See Me Re-Rollin’ – Reroll a Campaign Task
Lycan Subscribe – Match 100 Lycanthropy Gems
We have improved the Elite+ Pass Campaign Rewards for over 1000+ Stars. This will appear in the next Campaign (starting May 24th).
We’ve added visual feedback when clicking on tab buttons on our screens (the 4-6 white text buttons on the tab bar that runs across the top of the screen in many places). This is to give feedback that input has been received by the game to players who may be running on slow connections.
We have fixed an issue where the game would soft lock if Death Mark and Lycanthropy trigger at the same time. As part of this fix, Essence of Evil has been altered back to its original form where it inflicts Lycanthropy on the target.
We have fixed an issue where some players were getting stuck on the Warband tutorial. It took them to the shop, but there was no Warband shop tab to access.
We have also fixed an assortment of smaller issues.
We have made a major technical upgrade to Gems of War so we will be able to look at supporting next gen consoles and other new hardware in future updates.
We have added a new type of flash offer to the game – Tiered Flash Offers
Tiered Flash Offers will offer 3 different types of offers at different price points, based on a shared theme. Examples of themes are the Gnome Vault, Underworld or Deeds.
These offers can be purchased in any order, and each have their own limit to how many times they can be purchased.
We have added in several new spell effects into the game, some of these include – new Gem Shapes on the Board, & New Color Target Types.
These will be found in spells in future troop releases.
We have a new status effect – Lycanthropy. While a troop is affected by Lycanthropy there is a chance that it will trigger and transform them into a random beast.
This status effect will feature in a future campaign, where it will play a big part in its story. For the moment, you will only be able to see it via the “Random Status Effect” that some spells and traits inflict upon enemies.
We have updated several Immunity traits to include immunity to Lycanthropy:
Immune
Fortitude
Undying
Impervious
Invulnerable
I Believe in a Higher Power – Reach Kingdom Power level 15 in 5 Kingdoms Social Climber – Get a total of 300 Social Items (Emoji Packs, Portraits, or Titles)
The player’s Invite Code will now display on the Show Password menu. Campaign Elite+ Menus will now display the total number of bonus Stars a player will earn from purchasing it (over the duration of the Campaign).
We have fixed an issue where the game would crash if attempting to use the back button on Android devices.
We had to disable the back button on Android when this issue first appeared. We have re-enabled it in the 5.4 Update.
We have fixed an issue where a battle would not end if the Mecha Gnome ran away when he was the last Troop.
We have fixed an issue where the Manage Team button would not work when playing a Delve for the first time.
We have fixed an issue where Banding traits were not applying correctly for each ally with an unlocked Banding trait.
This update will be available on Steam, iOS, Android, Xbox, and PlayStation. The Switch update is coming soon.

New Legendary Card Series
We have introduced a new series of Legendary Troops to Campaigns inspired by the Major Arcana Tarot Cards.
(The Sun Art has been refined and will be receiving a slight graphic update in the next update).
Campaign Rewards Changes
We have made some changes to the rewards from Campaigns. We have either improved or changed some of the rewards given out in both the Free and Elite passes.
Warbands are a pre-designed team that players can use straight away in battles (similar to a Starter Deck in TCGs). Warbands are primarily aimed at newer players or players who wish to start dabbling with team building but want an existing team to build off. They also contain extra banners and team slots, so there is something there for experienced players too!
Players can view Warbands in the new Warband tab in the Shop Menu.
Warband bundles cost 50 War Coins and contain the following:
1 Team Slot
1 New Banner - This banner is unique to the Warband and different from any existing banners
1 Epic Troop
2 Other Troops - These will be Common ,Rare, or Ultra-Rare rarity
1 Ultra-Rare Weapon
Players will be able to earn the Ultra-Rare Weapon from Warbands from Gem Mastery, though they will need a high level to do so (100+ Gem Mastery in a Color). Once a player purchases a Warband team, the team's bundle in the shop will change to a “Booster Pack” for that team. Booster Packs cost 15 War Coins, and will contain 3 different rewards, all of which are meant to help improve the Warband team. These rewards include:
Souls
Ultra-Rare Ingots
Copies of the Warband's Troops (the amount of copies will vary based on rarity)
Minor Traitstones - Traitstone Colors will be based on the Mana Colors of the troops in the Team.
Major Traitstones
Runic Traitstones
Arcane Traitstones
Celestial Traistones
Players can earn War Coins in a few ways:
New Player Login Calendar - We have replaced the Treasure Map rewards on Day 6 with some War Coins
To celebrate the release of 5.3 Update, we will also be running a special Login Calendar that will contain some War Coins for existing Players
Completing Questlines for each Kingdoms (e.g. for Broken Spire)
As Warbands are aimed at newer players, we will not be giving any War Coins to players who have completed Kingdom Questlines previously
Adventure Board - There are 2 Adventure Board Tasks with War Coins (Epic + Legendary) that players may encounter.
Daily Deals - There are 2 different daily deals that players may encounter. 1 VIP Offer + 1 Player Level Offer.
There are War Coin purchases available in the Shop
Warbands are set up so that we can add or change Warbands in the Shop with game updates, allowing us to rotate Warbands around from time to time.
Because it is a Guild Wars week, we will delay the release of Warbands and War Coins available until the update is out everywhere and we can prompt players to update to the 5.3 update. (We expect this to be only for 24-48 hrs).
Shrines are a new system that gives players extra means to gain resources while playing the game. The Shrine menu contains Shrines, each Shrine will be tied to a different Resource or Collectible in the game.
The first Shrine will be focused on Gold - The Shrine of Cunning
With this first Shrine, for each Gold coin won in battle, the Shrine of Cunning will also receive 1 Gold Coin
This is bonus Gold and is not taken from any Gold earned in battle
Gold must come from Battles, so Gold earned from other areas such as Tributes will not affect the Shrine.
Once the Shrine reaches 50% of the maximum amount it will trigger a timed offer allowing players to purchase the Gold. Players can continue playing the game to fully fill the Shrine before purchasing.
Once the Shrine is full, the Shrine Offer will only run for 48hrs after which the Shrine will reset and players will have to begin again.
Purchasing the offer will also reset the Shrine back to the beginning again.
The maximum amount of a resource in a Shrine varies based on a Player's level. These different level ranges not only affect the max amount of the Shrine, but also the cost and the bonus rewards given in the offer.
Level 101: $9.99 USD, 100,000 Gold (max) + 2 Major Orbs of Chaos
If a player levels up into a new level range while filling up a Shrine, they will continue with the Shrine's existing max amount. Once the Shrine resets, it will then use the new level range. We will add new Shrines in the future, though these Shrines may only be available for a limited time.
We have made some changes to early tutorials to help new players
When starting the game for the first time, players are asked if they have some experience with Match-3 RPGs. This will adjust some of the tutorials during the introductory battles
We have improved the tutorial text for Leveling Up Troops so it's shorter and easier for new players to understand
We have improved the tutorial text for Unlocking Traits on Troops so it's shorter and easier for new players to understand.
We have made a change to VIP Chests to remove Traitstones from their core drop pool. This means that VIP Chests will always give either 2 Epic Troops, 1 Legendary Troop or 1 Mythic Troop.
Players will still have a chance to earn Traitstones, as VIP Chests will have a 30% chance per key to earn 2 bonus Arcane or Celestial Traitstones (Traitstone rewards are the same as what was available in VIP Chests in the previous version).
We have made some quality of life improvements to the Arena.
We have changed the Troop Draft Order in Arena so players will pick the Epic Troop first then Ultra-Rare, etc.
After players have chosen all their Troops, they will be given the option of a free reroll. The reroll will start the Arena draft back at the first Troop, with a new set of Troops to choose from.
This allows players to reroll their team if they have some bad luck.
If a player selects reroll they will lose all troops from their current team, and will not be able to undo this selection
Players can only reroll their Arena team once per Arena run - they must use the new team after the 2nd attempt.
We've added a confirmation popup to Arena Offers to prevent players accidentally purchasing an Offer while trying to navigate through menus quickly.
We have a few Troop changes for this update related to helping out new players.
Warhound The Warhound is a troop players earned very early in the game, but once the first enemy ran out of Attack, he wasn't able to help his team out further. We've given him a little mana generation just so he can continue to help his team even after there is no more Attack to remove.
Changed Attack Debuff from 0 + Magic to 1 + ½ Magic
Spell now also explodes 2 random Gems when cast
Mana cost increased from 7 to 8
Salamander Salamander was one of the early burning troops to be released. At the time burning was considered more dangerous due to the continuous damage. With its addition to the Fire and Fury Warband, we felt it was time to give this burning lizard a little reptilian love.
Mana cost reduced from 13 to 11
One Time at Warband Camp... - Unlock a Warband
My Time to Shrine - Fill a Shrine completely
Well, I’m very happy for you - Reach 40,000 Total Underworld Renown
We have added new Holiday themed art for the season.
We have increased some of the rewards or adjusted some rewards for Rewarded Ads
We have added recipes to the Soulforge that consume Orbs of Growth and Greater Orbs of Growth. These recipes will give a treasure troop that can be used on Faction Treasure Hoards:
Orbs of Growth - Rare Treasure
Greater Orbs of Growth - Epic Treasure
We have fixed an issue in Tower of Doom where the game could crash if trying to use a scroll to defeat a Doom Room or on the room that held the Unlock scroll.
We have also fixed an assortment of smaller issues.
