Gloria Victis: Medieval MMORPG - BartoldGV
Hello warriors!

Another update filled with Quality of Life improvements is live! This week we’ve added a long-requested feature: quick chat commands selected from the roulette that let you give orders to your allies!

Moreover, from this update, you’ll be rewarded for being active in the State of War! Either a defender or attacker, join the siege to get your effort paid back. Check down below for details!

Also, we’re thinking about a satisfying solution for the Open State of War which takes place on Saturdays. We’re aware it might be inconvenient to be forced to come for it every week, even though the addition of Open SoW has been welcomed warmly since it created a lot of open-world PVP opportunities, and that’s why most of us play Gloria Victis. Moreover, prior to introducing the Open Sow, there was at least one nation without any Guild Castle on every server, which isn’t the case anymore.

For these reasons, we’d like to keep the Open SoW in-game, but to reduce its frequency a bit. So our idea is to have an Open SoWs once every 2 weeks, and in between them you’ll have a chance to take part in the automated and improved 5v5 tourneys, with complete matchmaking and grouping system. We'll be aiming to have more different activities in the future, so Open SoWs could then happen less frequently.

Tell us what do you think about this idea! Of course, we’re all for introducing more various activities for Saturdays in the future, so we encourage everyone to share your ideas too.

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.9.3.2

As always, the screenshot's author is rewarded. sCaRfaCe – check your Ambers after the next scheduled restart!

Quality of Life:
– Introduced a command system which lets you select quick commands from a roulette [default: X key] to display them in the Say chat – this addition should greatly help coordinate the actions of a group of players in the heat of battle
– Introduced rewards for the activity in State of War (can be gained only once during the given time frame of State of War) to promote more engagement and actually attacking the enemy locations:
  • Single reward for defenders who were present in the province during State of War, if the location was eventually captured
  • Double reward for defenders who were present in the province during State of War, if they successfully defended it – this reward replaces the single reward for a lost defense
  • Single reward for the attackers who were present in the province during State of War, if they managed to reach 100% of activity in the siege
  • Additional single reward for the attackers who were present in the province during State of War, if they eventually captured the province
– From now on, the boiling oil at the guild castle keep has 3 minutes of cooldown, contrary to 1 minute at the nation-controlled castle keeps
– Slightly increased the mount’s running and sprinting speed
– Disabled a possibility to unstuck while swimming to prevent exploiting it
– Improved placement of numerous resource nodes in various locations
– Updated the placement of NPC enemies near Otton the Raubritter’s hideout and doubled their respawn time
– Updated the levels of the dynamic events in the area between Blackrock and Volkvar castles because they weren’t visible for most of the players
– Updated the location upgrading tutorial and the name of the Architect’s Table

Fixes:
– Fixed an edge-case bug causing receiving the traitor status for a player who applied bleeding to an ally in the open-world arena (i.e. in the guild castle) and left the arena before the bleeding ended
– Fixed a bug causing that equipping an already equipped item by a hotbar key used to queue up, ending in a loop of equipping the same item
– Fixed searching items in the Market window in German and Korean languages
– Fixed a bug causing that the production speed bonus at player-build furnaces worked only until the server restart
– Fixed a bug causing that the medics didn’t get a share of NP for kills gained by the player who they revived, but those players gained more NP than they should get
– Fixed a bug causing that when comparing two items, the tier/quality overlay was copied from the first item to the second one
– Fixed a bug causing that the 1v1 arena duel icon was replaced with an old icon after registering to a duel
– Fixed the dialogs of Sir Rodric and Askell
– Fixed the respawn time of mercenaries in the “Menace in the Mist” questline
– Fixed a bug causing displaying a false icon of the player’s mount on the map even before it was spawned
– Fixed a bug causing that the ambient sound effects of birds could stack on each other in some cases
– Minor fixes to various dynamic events
– Fixed a bug causing that the dynamic events in the area between Dimar and Waterford castles weren’t visible on the map

The Kargald Champion can be found find in the middle of the map – with randomized time and spawn points. In his loot, you can find unique items which allow you to add extra attributes for character or mount. not connected with level, so from now you can add 20 more attributes points!

Quality of Life:

– Added a new feature decreasing non cleave player damage by 70% if the hit went trough the ally player first. There were no change to cleave attacks as they were already dealing less damage based on each target they hit, including allies.

We want a horseman to be a subclass, just like a medic instead of full class to not prevent horseman players from taking part in the Sieges. Due to the changes done to abilities, every character receives a free reset of abilities – they can be claimed at the Notification Center for the next 14 days– Added Holy Temples links to the Guild Castles, they are harder to take by the enemy and so are less vulnerable to cutting off the nation from the fast travel to their GC increasing the Holy Temples value.
– Decreased base stamina horse usage to ensure riding on horse is more efficient way to travel long distances
– Player stamina regen is no longer blocked by riding the horse on the fast speed
– Removed bonus regen to player stamina for moving slowly/not moving while being at horse (no changes while regenerating on foot)
– Added new stat to K/D/A window which is sum of kills and assists
– Added new horse hp and stamina UI
– Increased max level to participate on events around Swamp, Leaktown, Twinfall and Audun into 70 from previous 50.
– Added the missing event near the Audunstede for killing deserters
– Added an additional information while trying to launch the game using Steam Family Sharing which leads to "Invalid Steam Token" error, now it will be much clearer for the users who had that issue.
– Added new skin to the game which will be unlocked to all players who were logged in the game in the last week, from the moment of reaching 10 000 wishlists of Gloria Victis: Siege, and it will be added to the shop by that time.

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue leading to not loading friend lists for some players
– Fixed the wrongly shown number of cooldown time to use fast travel to Guild Castle
– Fixed an issue which made horse stamina regen being blocked when player stamina regen was blocked
– Fixed an issue which made castles which were abandoned by the guild were bugging further tokens put in the same server session

– Fixed an case of receiving traitor debuff while fighting on the small arenas.
– Fixed an edge case which every relog while having traitor debuff increased it's time by one hour
– Fixed an edge case of player dying on the open world, who was been damaged on the arena before causing traitor to assisting players.
– Fixed an edge case of event for Raubritter Rejected not spawning mobs on the second wave of the event.
– Fixed an edge case issue of tutorials videos not appearing
– Fixed a bug allowing to get under the floor of the inner sanctum at the Sirius’ castle

Gloria Victis: Siege is an upcoming survival resource management game in the style of This War of Mine, set in the medieval world of Gloria Victis MMORPG. The debut project of FishTankStudio is also going to be the first game published by Black Eye Games, and the second installment in the Gloria Victis setting.

Your homeland is drowning in war and chaos. As a group of civilians trapped under siege, you’ll face the ordeal of surviving the invasion. Though you do not participate in the fighting, the castle’s fate is in your hands.

Support the last soldiers standing against overwhelming enemy forces. Craft supplies and manage your resources during the day, and scavenge through the fallen city during the night. You must stand until the rescue comes!

A new take on a medieval war – a unique vision of a castle siege, shown from the perspective of the citizens struggling to just live one more day.
Endure the siege – Find ways to preserve food, and develop your infrastructure to use your supplies more effectively. Take the risk of sneaking into the fallen city plundered by the invaders to find precious resources, trade with scavengers, and help the surviving citizens – or exploit them.
Meaningful decisions – in a war, no decision is plain good or bad so you’ll have to choose between sustaining the soldiers’ strength and taking care of your own survival while maintaining your crew’s morale.
Built-in level and scenario editor – a complete dev-kit will be provided, allowing the users to tell their own stories, or to re-create the events from the history of the Gloria Victis world.
Memorable atmosphere – Realistic visuals and an amazing soundtrack created by Marcin Przybyłowicz and Magdalena Urbańska make Gloria Victis: Siege a truly emotional experience.

Hello wariors!

This is it: the mounts system has been added! You can finally tame a wild horse, train it and master your horse riding skills. The time has come – challenge yourself in the epic cavalry clashes!

Moreover, let us welcome you to the new Glory season! The top players of the just ended season have earned their rewards and titles, so time to compete against the others and fight your way to the top of the ladder!

A little explanation for the new players: Glory is a season-based ranking which rewards you for activity in the faction v faction v faction PVP. The seasons last 2 months and the top players are rewarded with unique titles and gold. Also, every Thursday night you’ll get Contribution Points – an in-game currency used to purchase special items from the Glory Quartermasters. The amount of earned CP depends on your position in the leaderboard, so climb up!

As always, the update also includes many quality of life improvements and fixes to reported bugs. Check them on your own!

See you in battle!

P.S. As it’s been happening for quite a while already, the author of a screenshot below has been rewarded. P0pS – check your Ambers!

Changelog v.0.9.2

Mounts:

– Introduced an entire skill tree for horsemen made of 16 new passives related to horse riding and mounted combat
– Due to the introduction of new passive abilities, every character receives a free abilities and attributes reset – they can be claimed at the Notification Center for the next 14 days
– From now on, shooting a bow when riding a horse causes slowing the mount from sprint to running speed – this change was made to balance the horse archers, as it was literally impossible to escape them since they weren’t slowed down when shooting but the enemy horses were slowed down when being hit
– From now on, the character of a player who’s quitting the game will automatically dismount before the quitting process starts
– Optimization improvements to horses seen from larger distances

New Glory Season:

As it has been announced, yesterday was the last day of the previous Glory season – a day where gaining Nation Points is not possible and the scoreboards of other season-based rankings (Glory and Arena) are frozen, except for the Guild ranking as players donate their NP to the guilds on this last day, helping their guild climb up the rank table

For this reason, by the start of each new season each player’s Nation Points are wiped, giving every guild equal chances to win the new season and encouraging guild members to donate NP to their guilds.

So today is the start of a new season. It’s your time to climb up the ladder and fight for the rewards yourself. Good luck earning your fame!

Balance:

According to release of horses, which allow travelling faster than before, we have decided to promote more fights and open PVP across the world of Gloria Victis. For this reason, we made a change requested by the Community and restricted the Fast Travel to the guild provinces. From now on, you only can Fast Travel with the \home command to the 5 closest Guild Castles which are linked to your nation’s capital city. Also, with this change, it will be harder to capture a province right by the other nation’s capital to quickly move large forces there and harass the enemy at the edge of the nation’s homeground. It’s still possible to capture such a guild province – you will simply need to travel there on your own – and you can still respawn in a guild province disregarding its location or links.

To increase the overall value of the guild provinces, we have added 2 features requested by the players which are pretty hot! Details below:

The Fast Travel has been restricted to the 5 closest Guild Castles but every guild province has a new upgradeable building: Transportation Spot. Once it’s been built, every player from the nation can Fast Travel to such a guild province via Logistician – as long as it’s linked to the Capital. Moreover, 23% of the fee spent on a Fast Travel to the guild province will be moved to the bank of the guild controlling it, rewarding it with extra earnings for opening for cooperation with allied players.

The changes to Fast Travel mean that it will be more difficult for a nation to control more than 5 guild provinces at once. For this reason, we’ve decided to reward the players willing to face the challenge anyway by adding a new multiplier to the Guild Points generated for the guild provinces controlled by a nation. Every guild castle controlled the by nation increases the number of points generated for officers of the guild owning the castle by 10%. Following the Risk vs Reward, it is harder to control more guild provinces but their worth is increased – a nation can get up to 70% bonus of Nation Points generated by controlled guild provinces.

To sum up – we have finally released the horses, so Fast Travel to the Guild Castles gets restricted to promote more open world PVP. On top of that, we keep working on new content to be added in the central part of the world to initiate more PVP encounters there. At the same time, we increase the worth of the GCs for the whole nations and earnings of the guilds controlling them.

Other balance changes:

– Added time-based nation buffs for controlling guild provinces – from now, if your nation loses the 2nd or 1st province, you will keep the buff for next 7 days to encourage next fights. Capping the flag just for a while during the SoW is also counted as losing the province!
– Updated walls layout at Ulfgard – unlike Seaclaw, which is on the same link, Ulfgard used to have 3 gates with direct roads to them; the central gate has been removed to improve the balance on this link
– Increased Contribution Points price from 15620 to 25620 for scroll of Nation Change – many players requested to even block the nation hopping (we remind that for the balance purposes, there is a free nation change to an underdog nation if a situation on a given server demands it)
– Updated “For the homeland!” buff, reducing its time down to 5 minutes and its max stack from 4 to 3 - the change was done because at the max stack of this buff, it was impossible to loot something else than materials from a buffed player because of so much reduced respawn time; also the time was so long that players were buffed long time and miles away from the buffed location

Quality of Life:

– Updated interacting with traitors – from now on, reviving a traitor is only possible for other traitors and players with Friendly Fire trigger enabled, and is punished with the traitor status too, the same way as it happens when looting an ally player
– Added a skin to the War Two-Handed Hammer designed by one of the players
– Updated the position of Maximus, an NPC allowing the Sangmarian players to donate Nation Points to their guilds – he can now be found at the capital’s central square, near the spawnpoint
– Updated the Sea Wraiths/Abandoned Route world events, adding optional subevents to complete while going through the main event to receive a guaranteed reward
– Updated the balance of NPC enemies at Sea Wraiths
– Added gates protecting both of the starting areas at Sea Wraiths to protect one team from being smashed by the other
– Updated the damage dealt by the Spy NPC appearing in Defend the Spy!/Kill the Spy! events

Fixes:

– Fixed a bug in the players' synchronization causing a 1-frame-long delay between sending and receiving the network data, so when the server was working with maximal framerate, the synchronization was delayed by 16 ms, and even more, if the framerate was lower due to heavy traffic
– Fixed a bug causing that some NPC guards or enemies didn’t deal damage to the players
– Fixed a bug causing glitching the animations of other player’s character after mounting, unless the player made any movement
– Fixed a bug allowing to mount on a horse from an unlimited distance, as long as the player could aim at it with the cursor
– Fixed a bug causing that the damage received by a horse didn’t have any sound
– Fixed a bug glitching the character’s controller and logging the player out of the game when dismounting a swimming horse or mounting a horse while swimming
– Fixed to the placement of reported glitchy resources

Hello warriors!

A new weekly update has been applied! Thanks to the players’ feedback we’ve made a lot of improvements to the mounts system. We’d like to thank everyone who tried it out since the last week!

On top of that, we’ve made several significant improvements to the players’ synchronization and balance tweaks. Also, the assists system has been updated to reward the players who commit to one of the hardest jobs in the group vs group combat: tanks. Check all these changes on your own!

Moreover, we’d like to give you the date of the new Glory season’s start! The current season will end on Thursday, Mar. 12th. Also, we’d like to remind that the last day of the season – Wednesday – will be a dedicated day of the season's end. It will not be possible to earn or lose the Nation Points at this day and the scoreboards of other season-based rankings (Glory and Arena) will be frozen then. However, it is the last chance to donate your NP to your guild as the Guild Points. When the new season starts, the Nation Points collected by a player will count from 0 as the new season will begin.

A little explanation for the new players: Glory is a season-based ranking which rewards you for activity in the faction v faction v faction PVP. The seasons last about 2 months and the top players are rewarded with unique titles, achievements and gold. Also, every Thursday night you’ll get Contribution Points – an in-game currency used to purchase special items from the Glory Quartermasters. The amount of earned CP depends on your position in the leaderboard, so climb up!

Take your chances and climb up the ranking ladders over these last few days of this season. The fame and rewards await!

See you in battle!

P.S. As it’s been happening for quite a while already, authors of the screenshots have been rewarded. Cadet LIU, [Myrm]Fable09 and P0pS – check your Ambers!

Changelog v.0.9.1.6.2

Synchronization:
As we were working on the mounts system, we made several improvements to synchronizing the players’ position. These changes should greatly help reduce the occasional desync which used to happen when either client- or server-side framerate was lowered.

– Significantly improved the synchronization for players having lowered client’s framerate or spiking FPS
– Improved synchronizing the player’s position when running or sprinting continuously for a longer time, which could cause an edge-case desynchronization
– Improved synchronization in the case of lowered server’s framerate

Balance:
– Updated the mechanics of assists for Glory and Nation Points rankings – from now on, players who stunned or staggered the enemy, or blocked an enemy attack, will receive an large share of the assist counted for each attack which will connect to this enemy over the time when he’s immobilized or can’t attack; this change should greatly change the experience of team players, namely tanks who do the hard job to make the enemies vulnerable, as now they will be rewarded better for playing their role in formation effectively
– Updated the sabotage events taking place at the central minor flags (farms, mines and lumbermills), adding the missing events at Baalhammon Farm, Baalhammon Lumbermill, Basilea Farm and Basilea Lumbermill
– Updated the resources balance at minor farms close to the capital city of each nation, standardizing the number of each resource at every farm – the biggest change was done to the Sunflower nodes, which weren’t present at Baalhammon Farm and Basilea Farm, and weren’t balanced properly for the 4 remaining farms
– Removed the remaining Pumpkin nodes from the farm areas and safezones, since they didn’t have any real use in the game

Quality of Life:
– Client-side optimization improvements to the mounts
– From now on, training the Agility attribute should increase the mount’s turning rate
– Added tooltips to the mount’s statistics in the Mount Panel (already applied in the Friday’s hotfix)
– Added the help text for the mounts system which can be displayed in the Stable window and Mounts Panel (already applied in the Friday’s hotfix)
– From now on, the wild mounts in the homeground of each nation are moving around to prevent taming them by bots without the necessity to make the wild horses extremely rare
– Improved the interface’s feedback when entering an invalid mount’s name after taming a wild horse
– Updated the Mount Panel’s interface, moving a button removing a mount to a new place, making space for a button allowing to call a mount (already applied in the Friday’s hotfix)
– Standardized the maximum distance allowing to use the Stable window and the max distance to talk to the Stablemaster (already applied in the Friday’s hotfix)
– Added displaying an icon of the player’s own mount on the map and minimap
– Updated the minimap icons of Logistician and Stablemaster (already applied in the Friday’s hotfix)
– Updated the notifications displayed when earning money or Contribution Points – now they should stack properly and they also display the total money/CP owned by the player

Fixes:
– Fixed a bug preventing a player from opening the building repair window unless the player was mounted (already applied in the Friday’s hotfix)
– Fixed problems with hits detection which were caused by the mount’s collider which was still attached to the player after the mount has been killed
– Fixed a bug causing that the mount could swim on the server while remaining still on the client
– Fixed a bug causing that the mount’s regeneration worked only while standing still – it should now work properly while moving with the marching speed
– Fixed the reported cases of wild horses which have been attacked by the NPC guards
– FIxed a bug causing that the trebuchets used for the recently added Ismir questline used to disappear at nightlock
– Fixed a bug causing that the average market price in the offer creation window was displayed with misplaced values
– Fixed a bug causing that the Upcoming Events window didn’t show all the available siege events if the player has just left an active siege event and closed the pending events invitations
– Fixes to several level design glitches
– Fixes to reported resources placement issues

This time, the test sessions will last longer and more often. We would love to encourage everyone to try out the mounts and share your feedback either using the in-game tool or in our official Discord channel. As in every test of such a significant change, we’re looking for every exploit which could occur with the mounts’ release – thank you in advance for reporting them!

Also, this update introduces the updated models of the top-tier Ismir light armor and a new questline for Ismirs, several improvements to the player’s synchronization and various gameplay systems, and much more. Try out this update on your own!

See you in battle!

The mounts tests

Acquiring a mount:

To acquire a mount, you have to tame it first. Taming a mount is done by interacting with a wild horse which can be found out in the world – both in the nation’s native areas and on the links between nations. For test purposes, the respawn time of wild horses is quicker than it will be after the system’s final launch.

After successfully taming a mount, you will be asked to name it. While the mount’s name doesn’t have to be unique, please remember that it must follow the same rules as the character’s name!

Mounts management:

You can see all of your mounts in the Stable window, which can be accessed by talking to a Stablemaster NPC who can be found near the Logistician in capital cities and every nation-controlled fort, castle and temple.
Note: The Stablemaster is not present in the Guild Castles yet – it will be changed at the system’s final launch with the addition of a player-built Stable

In the Stable window, you can set an active mount, display the statistics of all your mounts and train them.

You can display the statistics of your active mount while being in the open world, such as its attributes, HP and age, by opening the mount's panel ("Y" key). To display the statistics of other mounts than the active one, you need to open the Stable window.

You can call the active mount to your position by pressing the "T" key.

Calling a mount to your position takes 15 seconds in order to prevent exploiting the PVP combat using mounts, which could reduce the importance of group tactics and player's own skill in combat.

When the horse's HP goes down to 0, it doesn't die – it will be possible to recall it but after a cooldown.

Training your mount:

You can train your mounts in the Stable window by paying for the training with the in-game money. The training cost increases proportionally with the mount's level. The training can be done once within 22 hours.

Moreover, an active mount earns experience for kills, and assists for kills, done by the player while riding a mount. Also, the mount gains experience for the distance travelled (counted by the geographic distance – circling in place won't work)

Disclaimer – please remember that it’s still a testing phase. Depending on the outcome of the tests’ outcome, the currently owned mounts might or might not be wiped when the mounts system will be finally released.

Changelog v.0.9.1.6

Quality of Life:

– Updated the look of the Ismir top-tier light armor – it was replaced with completely new models, since the former set is used by a few lower tiers already
– Introduced the top-tier light spaulders for all nations – their recipes can be obtained from the recipe random boxes sold by a Glory vendor and from the world bosses: Ragi, Brandon and Sirius
– Introduced a new questline for the Ismir players, following the announced plan of adding new quests in order to improve the new players experience – the new questline is an extension of the storyline started with the recently updated starting Ismir questline and it introduces a lot of brand new locations, as well as some new in-game tutorials regarding the combat mechanics
– Updated the placement of Mistletoe nodes after updating the Scarsdale area, as well as near Greenport, since the Mistletoe nodes there weren’t updated after moving Greenport to a new positions a few months ago (already applied on Friday a hotfix)
– Improved the font visibility of the tooltips texts

Synchronization/combat/controller:

– Fixed an bug allowing to use the stamina regeneration increased to what it is while moving with the marching speed without actually slowing down to march (already applied on Friday a hotfix)
– Fixed a bug causing desynchronizing the player’s position after getting shot with an arrow in the shield on the character’s back while sprinting – due to this bug, the character wasn’t slowed down and could continue sprinting on the client’s side
– Fixed a bug allowing to regenerate HP instead of drowning down after completely depleting the stamina in water

Fixes:

– Fixed a bug with scaling the guaranteed Nation Points for killing a player who had -2000 Nation Points – due to the bug, if such a player belongs to the underdog nation, the reward wasn’t scaled proportionally to the nation’s balance difference but always set to 100 NP
– Fixed a bug allowing to loot enemy players within the area of a siege event if it started again because the previous event has ended too fast (known issue: in some cases, the non-looting area activated by those events might not be displayed in the current effects – but still, looting players will not be possible within a siege event’s area)
– Fixed a bug causing that the pots with boiling oil placed on the guild castle’s walls were dealing damage to the ally players
– Fixed a bug causing that the player’s spawnpoint at the lighthouse in the “Rite of Trinity” were appearing in water after moving this event to a new location in the latest update (already applied on Friday a hotfix)
– Fixed a bug causing that not all of the damage types displayed on the weapon’s tooltip were properly translated

Changelog v. 0.9.1.5

Synchronization:

While there shouldn’t be any visible difference for most of the players, we’ve made several improvements which will be noticeable in more intense fights:

– Increased the frequency of updating the player’s rotation on server if he is rotating while standing still (which, in some cases, was delayed on the server by 50ms, compared to the actual rotation displayed on the client) – this change should greatly reduce the occurrence of being attacked through blocks
– Reduced the occurrence of an issue causing desynchronizing the other player’s position in close-quarters combat situation
– Numerous significant improvements to the speeding-up objects synchronization, which were necessary for the upcoming introduction of mounts

World & Balance:

– If a siege event ends quickly with a victory of a nation which isn't marked as dominating against any other nation, another siege event will start on the same link, pushing the frontline further – this change is meant to increase the meaning of watching the nation’s both links rather than leaving one of them unprotected and focusing on one of the enemy nations only, which used to lead two nations focusing on pushing the weakest nation, leaving the other link without any fight nor protection
– Updated the Scarsdale and Greenport areas, separating them from the mainland with a water mass the same way as on remaining links – thanks to this change, Sangmarians will no longer be easily pushed back to the capital by enemy warbands coming at Scarsdale which, until now, could quickly move through the Baalhammon Lumbermill to Baalhammon Farm and enter the Sangmar’s very homeground; after this change, those areas are separated exactly in the same way as locations on the other two links
– Moved the central siege camps of both Scarsdale and Greenport due to the changes done to their areas
– Moved the lighthouse used in the “Rite of Trinity” world event closer to other places of this event due to the changes done to its former location
– Moved the Black Sickle’s sacrificial hill due to the changes done to its former location

Quality of Life:

– Updated the algorithm controlling when NPCs, other than the dedicated archers, start using bows – from now on, such NPCs in the open world switch to bows no sooner than 20 seconds after the last hit has connected to the player
– Introduced the first iteration of displaying the locations names by the minimap which includes the names of static locations, namely homeground locations and larger PVE spots – in near future, this system will be expanded with the names of player-controlled locations
– Updated the weapon types descriptions, fixing the outdated ones and adding information
– Added an error message displayed when a player tries to start siege preparations over a guild province on other server than his guild’s main server
– Minor improvements to the Ismirean and Midlandic starting questlines
bout the attributes which increase the damage of each weapon type
– Removed the invalid Logistician from Serai, which is a static Sangmarian quest area, who by mistake has remained there after moving the nation’s capital to Baalhammon
– Reduced the number of Mentor Points gained for being marked by a Greenleaf as a helpful player in the chat and being marked as a mentor – they have been increased a few months ago due to a short Steam event and by mistake, they were left without a change until now, causing unwanted inflation of the Mentor Points
– Reduced the area in which a player gains Mentor Points for every level earned by Greenleaf players in the same party
– Numerous minor server-side performance improvements
– Several mino interface improvements

Fixes:

– Fixed the reported issues where the damage value and the name of attacking/attacked player were misplaced in the damage notifications, namely for legshots, headshots and backstabs
– Fixed the capturing and upgrading events at the Scarsdale Farm
Gloria Victis: Medieval MMORPG - BartoldGV

Hello warriors!

The last week was just prelude – today’s update introduces even more and even better balance improvements to provide the best gameplay and PVP experience possible. Ready your weapons, push the enemies back and claim the lands!

For the Motherland!

Balance:

After the extensive analysis, we’ve come up with several improvements to the game’s balance aimed to improve the experience for underdog nations players. These changes are vital to the game’s core – open-world PVP. While a year ago there were 2 underdog nations in every server, at this very exact moment only one server has just one nation tagged as underdog. Anyway, we keep working on improving the game’s balance all the time, as its the core of fair and fun PVP for everyone.

– From now on, only the underdog nation’s players will earn Glory Points when fighting in its homeground – this change was introduced to encourage searching for challenging battles and opponents in order to climb up the leaderboard and give some breath to the nations that were pushed back to their main city
– From now on killing an underdog nation player is rewarded with 100 Nation Points – that number will be the maximum nation points pool in that case and distributed between players with an assist system; still, the underdog nation players will lose 500 points for dying and will gain 500 for killing enemy players as before
– Disabled moving via Logistician to the minor flags of a location which is currently attacked during a siege event to solve an issue with the players bypassing the queueing system and disturbing the siege events balance – it is still possible to get to such areas on foot
– Updated joining the siege events and Valley of Death Tournament for overpopulated nations in order to increase the chances for underdog factions in these controlled-environment PVP scenarios – from now on, players with the lowest level have the highest priority to join them (taking the highest level of all characters of a given player); please remember that this change applies only to the nations which are clearly stronger than any other one on a given server
– From now on, the time to drop the activity during the State of War depends on the number of guild castles controlled by a nation – the more GCs a given nation controls, the slower the activity meter decreases; It will create more possibilities and give more time for underdog nation guilds to try to get into possession of a Guild Castle
– Introduced the respawn time modifiers causing that the respawn is shorter by the native players and longer for the others when fighting over:
  1. The native non-looting areas of any nation, to prevent breaking the nation's power and pushing it back to the capital
  2. A few closest homeground locations of an underdog nation, to allow such a nation to push the enemies back and mobilize

New players experience:

– Introduced a new questline for the Midland players, following the announced plan of adding new quests in order to improve the new players experience – the new questline is an extension of the storyline started with the recently updated starting Midland questline and it introduces a lot of brand new locations, as well as some new in-game tutorials which will be introduced for the other 2 nations too
– Updated the order of unlocking the Sangmarian starting quests – The Disappearance of Claretta is now available before enabling the quests at Basilea Farm and Baalhammon Farm, since the latter two are more difficult to complete and they used to push the players more into the central parts of the world before they were ready for it

Quality of Life:

– From now on, the gate doors are not respawning as long as the location is tagged as besieged – this change was heavily requested by the Community
– Improved the interface of announcements displayed in the main menu
– Boosted rewards for completing the Sorcerer’s Tower events that were placed in the distant areas, hence they weren’t visited as frequently as the others: near the Volcano, behind Hordun Temple and on the traitors island
– Added aa confirmation window appearing when a player tries to sell an item to an NPC vendor much cheaper than its average price in the market
– Introduced the bleeding effect applied by NPC enemies which are using daggers, or stabbing with one-handed swords
– Numerous minor optimization improvements in the code
– Numerous minor tweaks to the placement of NPC enemies

Siege engines:

– Pouring burning oil onto enemies will now count as the assist damage
– Fixed a bug causing that the siege engines were levitating after spawning
– Fixed a bug causing that the force applied to siege engines by multiple users was multiplied linearly, allowing to move them too fast and glitching them through gates or avoid damaging the chassis
– Fixed a bug that allowed shooting with catapult through the gate roof

Fixes:

– Fixed a bug causing that after a Guild Castle was captured by another guild, all structures tagged destroyable before State of War was still tagged after capturing the GC
– Fixed the Bullseye ability
– Fixed an issue causing not refreshing UI when leaving and joining back tournament queue
– Fixed an issue with main and glory arena teleports
– Some more fixes related to teleporting characters onto models of decorations, farming or player placed workshops

Hotfix 2020-02-10

Balance:

Basing upon the Community feedback and the data collected after applying the latest update, we’ve made several tweaks to the recent balance changes. From now on, the rewards for fighting the players of an underdog nation are proportional to the balance differences – of course, the difference between nations needs to be high enough to even trigger these safeguards:

– From now on, strength of the “Balancing system” effect, which increases the number of earned gold and experience for the underdog nation’s players, is proportional to the balance system score difference between an underdog nation and the nation with the highest score at a given time
– Updated the Glory Points gain for besieging locations in the underdog nation’s homeground – the attackers get Glory again but it’s decreased proportionally to the balance system score difference between an underdog nation and the nation with the highest score at a given time
– Updated the Nation Points gain for killing the players of an underdog nation – although it’s still decreased, the number of Nation Points earned is now proportional to the balance system score difference between an underdog nation and the nation with the highest score at a given time, varying from 100 NP when the enemy nation is completely outplayed to 500 NP when the balance score difference doesn’t exceed the limit required to trigger the underdog status

Please remember that all these safeguards activate only if the balance score difference is high enough to actually tag a nation as an underdog – lowering the rewards won’t even happen until a long-term disbalance comes into place!

Fixes:

– Fixed a bug causing that attackers could lose Glory Points after losing a siege over the underdog nation’s homeground location with a negative personal Glory score (already applied on weekend)
– Fixed a bug causing that vertical doors didn’t open, especially in world events (already applied on weekend)
– Fixed a bug causing that players shooting a catapult or trebuchet at the allies, or using oil at them, received the traitor status (already applied on weekend)

Hotfix 2020-02-11:

After closely checking the statistics of weapon usages at various places for the long time, we have decided to do some tweaks related to the bows. First, the PVE usage was close to being obsolete due to the nature of NPCs having much more HP than the players and in the end, a bit different nature of PVE gameplay. For that reason, the PVE damage for bows has been increased by 50% for better playing experience.

Same time, we do know that the difference between a "good shot" and "random shot" is simply huge. There are many factors in Gloria Victis which affect the final damage – not only related to weapon damage, player stats or skills but also to the power bar, weapon durability, picking a proper weapon to counter your enemy or aiming at the correct place.

It is all the part of the skilled gameplay, but it also creates a very huge, and often frustrating gap where a shooting player can be frustrated because he didn't hit another headshot or backstab – and a player receiving damage might feel that he was getting one of the “big” shots.

For that reason, we have removed the possibility of backstab with a bow for both PVE and PVP (which with the full dex character could mod the damage by x1.27) but at the same time we increased the base damage by 10% to adjust that removal. Thanks to this small change, while the archers will feel they’re more effective in different combat scenarios, the enemy players won’t be punished any longer for receiving shots they didn’t even have a chance to block, which should improve the balance in castle sieges too.

Please don't consider this change as the final one – we want to collect your feedback and iterate it quickly in the following few days. Thanks in advance!

At the same time, we are aware of NPC archers issues - while it requires lots of work, and we are focusing on horses mostly now, a quick solution to make the issues with the lower, same time keeping them in-game was to add less accuracy to their shots, especially for the lower level NPCs.

Moreover, we have updated the algorithm of the time required to drop the attackers’ activity during the State of War. The changes will be more smooth now, as the activity dropping speed is changed slightly for every Guild Castle controlled by a nation instead of doing it for larger thresholds.

Other than that, this hotfix introduces many further improvements to the recently updated Midlandic questline and a fix to the bug causing that attaching more players to the siege engines didn't increase their movement speed.

As always, we are open for the feedback on the changes!

Hotfix 2020-02-13:

The last week’s update added new balancing systems with effects scaling proportionally to the power of disbalance. We now decided to remove one of the old balance safeguards – a debuff causing that guilds of a nation which balance meter score outbalanced two other nations didn’t get the money spent by the enemies for tokening a Guild Castle after a successful defense, and that such a nation didn’t get any bonus for controlling Guild Castles.

The buff no more takes sense due to the latest changes which scales with the domination difference, and combined with the latest changes took too much reward for playing better. For that reason it was removed.

Also, the recent changes done to archery removed the backstab mechanics, which could increase the archer’s damage by 30%, at the same time compensating it with a slight (10%) increased overall damage. However, we noticed that the headshot damage can reach too high values, so it’s been reduced to compensate the the 10% damage increase done before.

An interesting fact: the only server which has any nation tagged as underdog at the moment is Monteverde, while the other servers have none.

Hello warriors!

Check out the new weekly update which includes several balance improvements! We hope to see much more open PVP action now thanks to the new position of Seaclaw, the change of which greatly reduces the distance to Ulfgard, mirroring the other links.

Also, we’ve improved the spawn area in Baalhammon, the capital city of the Sangmar Empire, to solve the issue of players being spread too wide, which affected the perception of the nation’s population. The spawn area has been rebuilt in the fashion of the Midland and Ismir capital cities – we hope you’ll like it!

Of course, there are many other changes, most of them being directly requested by our Community. And we're happy to welcome TheLazyPeon back to Gloria Victis, and we're glad to see that our hard work put into updating Gloria Victis every single week is appreciated. Enjoy watching!

By the way, we’re going to run another round of the mounts tests today by spawning the mounts for some random players. Be sure to get in game to check the improved horseback combat with powerbar dependent on the mount’s speed!

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.9.1.3

Balance:

– Updated the position of Seaclaw and its minor flags – the distance between Seaclaw in the former position and Ulfgard had negative effects on the amount of PVP happening in this area; since the distance has been standardized with other links, we hope to see more action here
– Updated the positions of dynamic events, resources and NPC enemies in the Seaclaw area
– Updated the players’ spawn area in Baalhammon – due to our extensive analysis, the architecture of this city, it was hardest for the Sangmar players to see their allies in the capital, so the spawn area has been rebuilt in the fashion of the Midland and Ismir capital cities to allow for easier interaction between players
– Added safe zone protection to siege engines when they enter the safe zone for the controlling player’s nation, and when the controlling player has attached to a siege engine while being in a safe zone – this change will help warbands to mobilize for sieges and give them a chance to start an attack from the siege camp without being spawn-camped
– Updated the placement of tree nodes in the Sangmar area and added more of them – especially near the Basilea Farm and Basilea Mine – because with the already existing nodes in these locations, some players could have troubles to find enough wood, especially compared to similar locations for Midland and Ismirs

Quality of Life:

– Replaced the Raiders NPC enemies between Baalhammon Lumbermill and Scarsdale with Armoured Thugs because the former NPCs were too high level for this area
– Moved “Defend the Spy!” event from the Scarsdale siege camp area to the east, closer to the SIrius’ castle
– Updated the position of Mercenaries Recruiters, who offer an option to move to a dominated nation, to the central area of each capital city – by the Logistician
– Reduced the time required to roast meat in the player-built furnaces by 50% to tune down the recent changes which standardized the roasting time for all meals
– Removed the candies from the loot tables of the Team Rocket anti-bot NPCs
– Added possibility to collect water from fountains
– Updated the visuals of money earned in the notifications interface
– Updated the guild’s activity algorithm – it should now be easier to maintain a satisfying activity ratio for large guilds
– From now on, the guild’s announcement won't be automatically removed from the recruitment board after a week if the guild’s activity is higher than the lowest level
– Minor improvements to the first stage of the starting Midlandic questline

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue causing that the Arena Points used to reset when changing nations – it should only happen with the Glory Points, since the Arena Ranking is multi-nation, while in the Glory Ranking the players compete only with their allies
– Several fixes to reported level design bugs and glitches
