We hoped to apply a huge update today but we decided to use an additional day for polishing its’ content. So, in meantime of testing and improving new cool features, we’d like to give you some insight on them!
Finally, we made it: you will be able to spawn your own tents and campfires! Tents will work as your personal one-time spawnpoints and campfires are workshops for the recently added cooking system. Also, the same system is used for farming system which will also go live tomorrow. You’ll be able to plant your own vegetables, fruits, herbs, cereals or flax – the choice is yours! We're now polishing these features and adding anti-exploits – some bugs shouldn't go live. ;)
Combining Wolfield and Estovia servers
Since we’ve recently finished moving crafting system to new database, which fixed an issue causing servers’ performance degrading over time, we were able to increase the players’ capacity on servers. Thanks to it, we can finally merge two EU servers: Wolfield and Estovia, so the European playerbase won’t be split anymore!
Guild Control update
Tomorrow’s update will include several improvements to Guild Control system requested by the Community. Each location will now have separate timeframe of State of War but if the guild controls 2 locations, it will have a choice which of them apply to all provinces under its’ control. Thanks to it, it will be much harder for one guild to dominate entire server. Moreover, since there will 3 different State of War events per day mixed with tournaments in between, there’ll be much more PVP action all the time!
New Glory season
Also, new Glory season will start tomorrow so it’ll be the perfect time to fight your way to the top of the leaderboard! As always, the top players will receive titles and other precious rewards for previous season.
We’re excited to see this update going live tomorrow – stay tuned!
New weekly update is live! First of all, we have successfully moved the crafting system to the new database. The migration was required to solve the recently found issue of servers’ performance degrading over time, which was caused by old database being used in crafting. Moving it will should significantly reduce lag/desync and improve the overall experience in combat – we’ll now be collecting the performance data to see how much better it’s now. Also, we hope to be able to increase the servers’ capacity pretty soon as the effect of this change!
Also, this update includes numerous gameplay improvements and fixes, such as additional solutions preventing players from avoding being looted by logging out. There are also balance improvements to food and potions, as well as new skins for Midlandic and Sangmarian top-tier medium helmet models.
Moreover, we’d like to remind you that the current Glory season will end soon! New season will start on August 1st, so this is your last chance to climb up to the top of the ranking and earn precious rewards, as well as unique titles. Also, according to results of the official poll, we’re going to merge Wolfield and Estovia servers at this day so the European playerbase won’t be split anymore. Due to this change, we’re going to adjust the daily schedule of tournaments and State of War, as well as to do necessary improvements to the guild control system. We are finally ready to move from an old database which was causing a server performance degradation over time. It's already in progress and for that reason, we need to put the server into up to 3 hours of maintenance.
New weekly update is live! This weeks we focused on gameplay improvements and fixes. We’d also like to give you an insight on what we are working on. Read below:
What are we working on?
We are close to finish migrating the crafting system to new database. It’s required to solve the issue of servers’ performance degrading over time – we have recently found out that it’s caused by old database usage in crafting. Moving it will significantly reduce lag/desync and improve the overall experience in combat. We hope to finish this task in the next week or two.
The other big change which is being worked on is the farming system. Soon you will be able to plant all of the recently added plants and herbs, as well as crops and flax. Also, a place which you choose will matter – you’ll be able to place seeds everywhere in the world but better crops will come fields at farms.
Also, since your feedback is very important for us, we’d like to hear your voice of one potential change regarding European servers – feel invited to join the official discussion thread!
As always, see you in battle!

This update includes many improvements which were frequently requested by our Community. There’s a significant synchronization update that fixed numerous issues, including the constant slight desync which stayed until snapping the character. We have also updated the NPC guards system so now they are properly spawning after capturing a flag. Moreover, from now on the NPC enemies can properly attack a player who stands on smaller objects, such as barrels.
Also, our controller/synchronization team, which is continuously working hard on improving the combat and servers’ performance, has recently found a significant issue causing degrading the server’s performance overtime after restart, which is especially noticeable on servers which aren’t located in Europe. This issue is related to old database system. The only system which is still using it is crafting, so we’re going to focus hard on migrating it to new system as soon as possible, since moving it will significantly reduce lag/desync and improve the overall experience in combat. It is also a moment when we’ll be able to improve crafting itself, add new features and update its’ interface.
Improving the crafting system is one of these tasks which may not actually appeal to PVP players, especially considering the fact that every player has their own expectations. It is absolutely required though, since it will lead to improving the servers’ performance and attracting more players who aren’t that much PVP focused.
We believe that there are 3 main pillars of Gloria Victis, as we see it for the final game: open PVP, territory control and player-driven economy. The latter aspect, however, hasn't offered that much as an independent gameplay layer yet, so we'd love to expand it with some more interesting gameplay loops. The recent addition of cooking and herbalism, as well as planned farming system and improving crafting system, are part of this goal – to make it more fun and interesting. It also brings us towards the completion of the game.
We’d love to hear your voice about possible improvements to crafting system which you’d like to see in game. Feel invited to an official discussion on it!
And the last but not least. We’ve been asked many times about further possibilities to customize a character and support the game’s development. Now you can do it, because we added skins for first 3 helmet models! With addition of skins, we hope to be able to increase our team and develop the game faster.
There are 16 skins available in Supporter Shop and a special skin which can only be obtained by earning a title for the top 3 positions in the Glory ranking. So, every player who has earned God of War, Warlord or Champion title at least once, has been given this unique skin which can’t be obtained in any other way. Also, one of the skins from Supporter Shop can be obtained by completing just added PVP quest - read the details below!
More skins will be added later, since working on them is a secondary task for our artists done in the meantime between gameplay-related tasks. Moreover, some of skins change color of detail depending on the player’s nation! We’re going to apply this system to other models too later - we’ll be working on it iteratively. Also, with this system we’ll be able to add displaying the guild’s Coat of Arms on shields in future too!
P.S. We have created our official Steam Developer profile. If you enjoy the game, follow this page to let the world know about Gloria Victis!
See you in battle!

Changelog v. 0.8.4.1
Gameplay:
– From now on, guild tokens are global instead of server-based, so you don’t have to control guild castles on all servers in order to compete in the guild ranking; this change also prevents a single guild from dominating all servers, which was especially visible on servers with lower population where small guilds couldn’t stand guilds from Wolfield and Aquilla – Due to this change, if a guild managed to have more than 2 tokens, the value will be changed to 2 – but, they will still keep control over already claimed castles as long as they can defend them - From now on, each token placed to compete for a province costs 2 gold - this change was needed because some guilds were placing them randomly just to trigger the State of War – From now on, purchasing a token for competing over a province doesn’t trigger State of War the same day but the day after, so it will be no longer possible to put a token right before the SoW timeframe – Reduced the State of War duration to 45 minutes because in some cases it overlapped with tournaments – From now on, NPC’s attack can be interrupted with full-power attack – From now on, NPCs will stop holding block 2 seconds after choosing a wrong blocking direction – Improved algorithm which selects defenders for the after-tournament siege – Introduced full branch of Midlandic and Ismirean medium helmets and their recipes – Model of Flat Top Helm with Mask and Mail Coif is now used as the top-tier Midlandic medium helmet – Renamed Flat Top Helm with Mask and Mail Coif into War Great Helm – Updated model of Rabritter’s Sallet – Added Digestion Tincture to assortment of Food and Herb Merchant in flags located in central areas of each link – Improved the food tooltip layout
Fixes:
– Further fixes to selecting the blocking direction – Fixed an issue which used to cause teleporting player to random location after starting moving (there might still be other cases so if you’ll experience such issue, please report them to us) – Fixed displaying the blocks indicators on other players with wrong rotation – Fixed an issue allowing to headshot a player who covers his head with a shield – Fixes to after-tournament events – Fixed The Lord of the Mountains event – Fixed an issue causing that the reputation buffs were displayed only in the first session – Various improvements and fixes to quests and events
New update hit the servers! We’ve updated the directional blocks, adding separate animations for each block with weapon and improving the blocking detection. Check it out and prove your skills!
Changelog v.0.8.4.0
Directional blocks:
This patch include major update to the directional blocks system. Not only blocking with weapon has received dedicated animations for all the block types, but also the blocks detection has been updated.
So, what has changed and why?
In previous system, blocks detection was dependent on current position and rotation of both attacker and defender. This solution had some serious downsides which couldn’t be fixed with this approach, just because of latencies with which we have to deal in MMORPGs. In short – movement distances done in close combat were enough to inflict problems with determining where the enemy is, so even if you’ve seen green blocking indicator on your client, on the server side the enemy could have already moved to side, causing that your block hasn’t been detected.
From now on, it depends on the attack type which the enemy performs – if enemy attacks from your left, all you have to do is to select left block and not let the enemy to move to your back. The attacker’s possibilities are also slightly expanded – central attacks (overhead and stab) are not being blocked with side blocks, so it can be used for feinting. Moreover, the new system solves another issue which was present in the previous one. If you’re fighting 2 enemies, it was impossible to block their attacks if they attacked from both left and right at the same time. Now, if you’re skilled in footwork, you can do it with proper positioning and selecting a side block.
Along with the blocks update, we’ve improved the NPCs combat mechanics. Until now, the humanoid NPC enemies were blocking ever attack type with the same blocking stance, so it was impossible to trick them. From now on, they are using the same blocking system as players do, so if they put up a block, you have a chance to switch attack to another and feint them. Moreover, NPCs can do mistakes now and block from wrong side. This change is aimed to improve the overall PVE combat experience.
The update includes some user experience improvements as well. Since some of players don’t like selecting the attacks/blocks direction with mouse movement, so now you can bind all of the blocks types to keys. We also improved the block type detection depending on the mouse movement. Now you can first click the block button and then move mouse to select the block type. Also, since the new blocking system makes combat with 2-handed weapons more skill-based, we’ve increased 2h weapons damage.
Gameplay:
– Increased base damage of longswords, long axes and 2-handed bludgeon weapons: +20 – Increased base damage of two-handed spears: +10 – Added salt nodes to mines in the central areas of each link – Increased amount of experience and gold earned for capturing flags – Updated experience gained for crafting food and herbal consumables – Added Exquisite Venison to products earned from butchering bears – Added Pork to products earned from butchering boars – Fixed amount of buildings required to burn in The Final Strike event on Fort Dunfen – Fixed an issue causing that quest in the Dead Raven Inn wasn’t visible on map when player came close enough to it – Fixed assortment of Prosperous Merchant in Lordly Haven – Improvements and fixes to quests – Updated the Turkish translation, adding translations of items, recipes and NPCs names
Edit 29.06.2018 Hello everyone, We have managed to prepare hotfix for you, to ensure the best experience during the weekend as possible. Changes are mostly connected with sieges/events after the tournament and new blocking system - do your best to practice and master that, because soon we will organize new PvP event! Checklist below:
– Added gaining experience for lost PvP! From now we count your contribution in a fight even if you don’t manage to kill your enemy. Experience is basing on dealt damage and is halved compared to the experience you would get for the kill. We have made this to encourage PvP and help new players to faster gain new levels – From now you can sell an item by drag and drop to the shop window
– Fixed bug which increased the chance for defending Midland Last Stand after the tournament – Fixed issue that from time to time caused that events for River Outpost or The Rite haven’t started – Fixed issue that displays reputation change just after login – Fixed issue when you start typing on chat during blocks - after that player were not able to block without the relog – Increased range of the blocks - now you are blocking more with every of your direction – Increased angle of blocking the middle (overhead). Now it is much easier to block this direction, please check drawing below
If you face the situation that you can’t block due to the bug, please contact us. If it is possible, please record that or at least describe what happened before. We appreciate every report!
Need a break from raiding enemy lands and staining the ground with blood of defeated foes? Let’s brew some decoctions – the Cooking and Herbalism craft has just been expanded with entire branch of herbal consumables! There’s more than 20 recipes to learn and 13 new types of plants to gather. Sickles in hands!

Hotfix 2018-06-21
Crafting balance:
As promised, we are starting updating various crafting processes to make them less tedious. In this update, we started with making the basic processes – flax processing and animals butchering – easier.
– Removed Flax Fibers from crafting flow – from now on, both Flax Threads and Flax Twine are crafted directly from Bundle of Flax, removing an unnecessary step – From now on, Flax Seeds are obtained directly from gathering Flax nodes – Reduced amount of parts of Carcasses required to butcher animals by 25-30% – Increased amount of Tendons and Bowels obtained from butchering animals – Added chance to drop 2 pieces of Blood of the Beast from 1 old animal – Removed possibility for Honey to get rotten, which was added by accident in today’s update
Hotfix 2018-06-26
– Added more plant nodes: Arnica, Root Plant and Herb – Added quickly respawning resources in areas of Sangmarian quests – Fixed an issue causing that just obtained consumables were immediately rotting in specific cases – Fixed spawning the Armoursmith Workshop +3 in Hordun Temple – Added Flax Threads recipe to NPC Tailors’ assortment – Reduced the ratio of Nation Poitns regeneration dependent on the amount of flags controlled by player’s nation

Changelog v.0.8.3.0
Cooking system:
– Introduced hunger system with 3 states displayed as buffs: Starving, Hungry and Fed depending on current character’s Food Level – Character loses 6 Food points per minute when moving and 2 points per minute when staying idle – max amount of Food points is 1000 and can be fully restored with 4 good quality meals, which also applies 2h-lasting buff and additional 1 hour with no debuff; Food level don’t go down when character isn’t logged in – Introduced the cooking system with 16 new meals, 2 new types of raw meat and 4 new types of raw fish – If your character is in Starving state, it gets 10% less max HP and stamina – If your character is in Fed state, it gets 1% more max HP and Stamina and 5% larger HP and Stamina regeneration per buff stack (up to 10 stacks) depending on average quality of food being consumed over time – Introduced different types of food: raw [for raw meat and fish only], freshly cooked, reheated, cold and rotten – dedicated field cooks will be a great aid to warbands! – Raw food gets rotten after at least 3 days, freshly cooked meals get cold after 1h, cold food gets rotten after at least 7 days (these are the minimal times, some items like groins and beers have much longer time, like a week or month); current time to rot is calculated as average for all items in a stack; we know that some players are not logging daily so time to get rotten for all food currently possessed by players will be extended by 1.5 month, in order to let them process their food in time (keep in mind that adding freshly gathered/crafted food to stack will effect in reducing the average time on specific stack) – If you missed the time when food is warm, you can reheat it 1 time – although this action will slightly reduce the food quality, you will have another 1 hour to eat it with better quality than the cold foods have (after this 1 hour reheated food will get rotten) – Introduced Food Merchants in capital cities and nation-based locations which are selling meals and food recipes – closer to the central PVP areas, better the assortment they offer
Known issues – hotfix coming soon:
– Display bug – regeneration bonuses values displayed in buff description are not correct – Display bug – selecting Knight's Kettle recipe in crafting window causes
Guilds Ranking:
– Introduced guilds ranking based on points earned by players for killing enemies in open-world – Killing an enemy player in the open world (not in arena, ranked duels or tournament) gives 500 Nation Points – killed player loses them from his account – If enemy’s Nation Points reached the minimal value or he hasn’t reached 30 level on any of his characters, you will not get points for killing him – If the amount your Nation Points is lower than 0, you will regenerate them over time – regeneration speed depends on the amount of nation-based locations controlled by your nation – Locations linked to capital city generate 50% more Nation Points – Contribution in open-world killing an ally player, which isn’t marked as a traitor, is punished with -500 Nation Points – Having positive amount of Nation Points slightly reduces respawn time and looting points which other players will have when trying to loot you – Each attack (even a blocked one) done in open-world to an ally player which isn’t marked as a traitor is punished with -1 Nation Point – Guilds can obtain Guild Points – either from players who can put in their own Nation Points by talking to NPC in capital city or in guild castle, or over time for controlling guild castles; Guild Points of each guild are displayed in the Rankings window – If a player leaves a guild, all Nation Points he already put in are removed from guild’s account and don’t get restored to the player’s account – From now on, guilds earn and lose Guild Levels after gaining or losing required amount of Guild Points – From now on, maximum level of possible upgrades of buildings in guild castles – except from main building – is limited by current Guild Level; if a guild castle got taken by a guild which level is too low compared to existing upgrades, it will not be able to upgrade buildings further until earning required level but the buildings won’t be downgraded
Open world PVP:
– Added 4 new nation-based locations: Mereley Farm, Mereley Lumbermill, Dunfen Farm and Mudmine in order to complete the 3-way layout of PVP locations for lower level players – Moved Midlandic and Ismirean Last Stand forts – For Dunfen and Fort Mereley – to new places in order to make them fit to position of Fort Serai and the recently added forts in non-looting area – Updated links connections on Midlandic and Ismirean Last Stand forts and forts in non-looting areas – Moved Skogar Castle and Ulfgard with their minor flags more to south in order to reduce distances required to travel along the Ismir-Sangmar link – Moved one of siege spawns of Ystad Fort to a closer location
Gameplay:
– Added 16 new quests per nation on the recently added minor locations – Added small non-looting zones on safe spawns – barns in locations to capture, spawn room in the castles’ keeps and spawns for attackers in the River Outpost event – Increased amount of Stamina for new characters – they used to have 350, now it’s about 530; this change also slightly increased amount of stamina for high-level characters but mostly reduces the level gap – Updated algorithm selecting the defenders in after-tournament siege event
Fixes:
– Fixed an issue causing starting SoW by placing a token during SoW timeframe if it hasn’t started yet – Fixed an issue causing getting stuck in stairs at deposit in Baalhammon – Fixed an issue causing that moving an item to deposit with RMB double-click caused displaying interaction progress bar – Fixes to quests
New update with tons of improvements and fixes just hit the servers! There are several improvements to State of War, new mechanics of items (read below!) and numerous bugfixes. Also, we’d like to share with you some info on what we’re working on!
Enjoy reading and see you in battle!
Work in Progress insight!
Middle Ages, times when the tale about a warrior could have more meaning than the outcome of battles he fought in. But it’s not all that the medieval times stood by! There were also masses of common people, who were providing countless goods needed to run a successful war campaign: blacksmiths, tailors, hunters, herbalists and… farmers. You wouldn’t like to wage war being hungry, would you?
Read about the cool stuff which our designers are working on now in order to greatly expand the gameplay possibilities and let you feel even more immersed into a living medieval open world! So, what can you expect in the very next few updates?
Cooking & Hunger
Always wanted to become a field cook? You will be able to do so pretty soon! In one of the very next updates, we’ll add entire cooking crafting branch along with the hunger system. Starving for a long time will have some downsides, so keep in mind to eat regularly… and eat good! A skilled cook will be able to prepare much better meals, which may also help you to recover faster after a tough battle. Moreover, every warrior knows that a warm dish is a real blessing and it quickly turns into a cold, distasteful and ordinary food, so be sure to have a cook in your army!
– Eat regularly to get strong! – Eat high quality meals to overcome the difficulties of war conditions – Master your cooking skills to provide your allies with quality meals – Hunt dangerous animals to provide cooks with high quality meat – Take care of time remained before your meal gets cold or spoiled – Grow your own vegetables and herbs required to cook quality meals – read below!
Farming system
You will be able to grow your own plants soon! Just find a proper place – be it some flat place somewhere in the world or a field at the farm. Then plant what you want: vegetables, herbs, crops or flax, and take care of your crops! Animals and enemy raiders won’t miss a chance to take the fruits of your work, so be prepared to defend them!
– Plant seeds and grow your vegetables, herbs, crops and flax – Take care of your plants – protect them from animals, enemies, weeds and negative effects of bad conditions – Harvest more when your crops are planted on PVP areas – Provide herbalists with herbs required to create numerous remedies and elixirs enhancing your physical abilities – read more!
Herbalism
Once the farming system comes to life, you’ll also be able to raise your own herbs and process them into herbal and alchemic products! Based on actual properties of various plants, they’re a way to boost your character in desired way, additional method of customizing your character… and danger for unwary users. Be careful and don’t overdose!
– Prepare remedies for poisons and create bandages used to stop bleeding – Prepare elixirs which can lift your possibilities to maximum, or event let you overcome the physical limits of human body (watch out for downsides!) – Create consumables which will give your allies more freedom to customize their characters, so they will fit to their play style
Crafting balance update
Thanks to just added mechanics of changing items into others, which was required for the upcoming cooking update, we’ll be able to significantly reduce the time needed to craft various goods. In order to prevent situation where players have full stacks of every material needed, so they could literally equip entire armies, the materials will decay over time – woods will get rotten, iron will rust and so on. This change will let us reduce the grind in crafting without negative impact on the economy. In effect, time and effort needed to craft a new sword from scratch will be much lower.
