Changelog v.0.8.1.6

Passive abilities update:

We have updated the passive abilities – it was required in order to move closer towards finishing the database migration to the new system. We also took this opportunity to improve the abilities system itself. We’ve removed one of the formerly present abilities and added 19 new ones, including abilities for support builds. There are also triggers – abilities which initiate special actions, like applying buffs, after completing specified requirements, i.e. successfully landing 5 headshots in given time. Also, from now on the abilities are grouped in the form of a skill tree where each subsequent ability can be unlocked by investing 5 progress points in the preceding ability. The tree starts with base abilities which have 5 levels to purchase and ends with new top-tier abilities.

– Introduced the skill tree for passive abilities – from now abilities of higher tier are unlocked by investing at least 5 progress points in the preceding ability which is directly connected to it
– Introduced the top-tier abilities which can be purchased by investing 5 progress points at once, without leveling them point by point– only one of the top-tier abilities can be purchased per character
– Introduced trigger ability mechanics – specific passive abilities can trigger special actions if a player completes given requirements

Top-tier abilities:

– Added new top-tier ability: Unstoppable – character with this ability is being staggered instead of being stunned
– Added new ability top-tier: Survival instinct – a player isn’t being slowed on receiving damage whien their HP goes below 20%
– Added new top-tier ability: Battle Rage – a player’s attack can’t be interrupted if their HP goes below 20%
– Added new top-tier ability: Focus – taking damage doesn’t interrupt giving the first aid to allies; reviving will still be interrupted by stuns and staggers

Trigger abilities:

– Added new trigger ability: The Last Stand – part of the shield’s endurance is regenerated after successfully blocking 3 attacks in a row with a weapon within 30 seconds if the shield's resistance is fully depleted; 2% per level and additional 10% at level 10
– Added new trigger ability: You Shall Not Pass – if a player has successfully blocked with a shield 3 attacks in a row within 30 seconds, the shield’s resistance loss is reduced by 2% per level and additional 10% at level 10; 2 minute cooldown
– Added new trigger ability: Precision – if a player successfully lands 5 unblocked hits in a row, their attacks don’t consume stamina for next 3 seconds per level and additional 15 seconds at level 10; 3 minute cooldown
– Added new trigger ability: Bullseye – if a player successfully performs 5 unblocked headshots in a row, part of stamina isinstantly regenerated; 2% per level and additional 10% at level 10
– Added new trigger ability: Great Comeback – HP regeneration of nearby allies is increased by 10% after successfully reviving an ally, for 3 seconds per level and additional 15 seconds at level 10

Base abilities:

– Added new base ability: Shield Bash – buying it allows you to perform shield bash attack; increases the shield bash damage by 5% per level and additional 10% at level 10
– Added new base ability: Bleeding – applies 10-second bleeding effect to an enemy successfully attacked with a knife, dealing 1 damage per second per level
– Added new base ability: Reaper – allows cleave attacks; damage diminishing for 2nd and 3rd target is reduced by 2% per level and 7% at level 5; level 5 allows to hit 3 targets with 1 cleave attack
– Added new base ability: First Aid – time required to give the first aid to fallen allies is reduced by 2% per level and additional 5% at level 10

Other abilities:

– Renamed a former You Shall Not Pass ability – from now on it’s called Shieldman
– Added new ability: Man of Steel – Piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning reduction for each piece of heavy armor equipped is increased by 1% per level and additional 5% at level 10
– Added new ability: Vanguard – shield’s resistance while blocking with a shield is increased by 2% per level and additional 5% at level 10
- Added new ability: Protector – shield’s resistance loss is reduced by 5% per level and 25% at level 10
– Added new ability: Breaker – shield’s resistance of an enemy who has blocked your attack is being increased by 1% per level and additional 5% at level 10
– Added new ability: Sting – piercing attacks damage is increased by 0.5% per level and additional 5% at level 10
– Added new ability: Battle Medic – increases the amount of HP regained by revived players by 2% per level and additional 5% at level 10
– Removed a former ability: Resurgence

Gameplay:

– Added alcohol intoxication buff which is being applied by consuming too much alcohol and can even change into being drunk if the party was good enough and then results in a hangover
– Added Hangover Antidote which can be bought from Quartermasters of Lord’s Wrath Abbey, Lordy Abbey and Hordun Temple
– Added a very small chance to upgrade an item to +7 quality; reminder – the recently added Mentor Points add a small bonus to this chance too
– Added KDA statistics which is being displayed in "Your Profile" tab of the Glory window (F2) – it counts all your PVP kills, deaths and assists
– Updated the damage modifiers from attributes for blunt weapons and one-handed swords – from now on blunt weapons have less bonus from Strength while one-handed swords benefit more from Strength and less from Dexterity, such as longswords
– Slightly reduced the statistics gaps between different tiers of heavy armors and shields
– Disabled the powerbar’s impact on shieldbash damage
– Improved the Area of Interest system, which is responsible for activating the network objects in the player’s surroundings, by slightly lowering the NPCs loading range compared to the players’ characters – this change should improve client-side performance even on ultra settings
– Added displaying the percentage progress tooltips of dynamic events (blue quests) in the side info panel

Hello warriors!

New load of gameplay improvements and bugfixes just hit the server! Thank you all for helping us finding all remaining issues which made it through our intense internal synchro/controller tests - this patch address many of them, as well as reported balance issues. There’s also a server-side optimization improvement and tweaks done to various systems.

Enjoy and see you in battle!

Changelog v.0.8.1.5.1

Gameplay:

– Synchro tweaks: improved synchronizing players with low and unstable framerate and improved overall synchro, especially when turning
– Improved snaps when a player gets between the client- and server-side position of other player or when player jumped down on client but server-wise they still remain at top of a building – these issues were occuring in case of the server-side lags occur
– Reduced Glory gained for siege events in order to make it more balanced compared to amount of Glory gained for capturing flags
– Added displaying requirements to be included in the weekly Glory count up and get the weekly CP reward in the Glory window
– Added test version of a system which contextually increases the network updates tickrate when specific server isn’t crowded – while the minimal tickrate hasn’t been changed, this change should effect in overall better servers’ performance

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue causing that two players could hit the other one at the same time with full power attack when one of them should be interrupted
– Fixed an issue causing that attacks used to be executed 70% slower when clicking LMB very fast (thanks to MightyKitten and Medller for sending videos showing this issue!)
– Fixed an issue causing glitches in female NPCs movement
– Fixes and tweaks to Sangmarian questlines
– Fixes to experience/chances boost cards

Note:

As we have recently found out that the Steam's Family Sharing feature can be, and most probably already is being used for several exploits meant to workaround several in-game mechanics, which in long-term could lead to serious balance issues, we'll be soon forced to turn it off, for the same reasons for which most of the online games don't support this feature as well.

Hello warriors!

A new update is live! We’ve just added several tweaks to the Glory system overhaul which will significantly improve its balance according to your feedback. Also, since we’ve been able to find and fix numerous issues which occurred after the Glory system update thanks to your invaluable help, we decided to start a new season and give everyone a fresh start with a more polished system. Although the last season was too short to reward it with titles, the top players have received CP rewards accordingly to their ranks. The new season will last until the end of May, so don’t wait – prove your warrior spirit in open world PVP battles and climb up the leaderboard!

We’d also like to share some new insight for our plans for the upcoming few weeks and invite you to take part in discussion over planned the guilds ranking. Let us know your thoughts!

See you in battle!

Work in Progress:

– Synchro/controller update – we’re now doing the final polish and tweaks before restoring it, along with the FPP mode. We aim to finally apply it next week, so you’ll be able to wage war with a much more smooth and responsive controller!
– Guild ranking – in response to your feedback, we’re going to add the guild ranking system soon. As many of you have proposed, earned guild points will directly depend on the open world PVP outcome. We also plan to introduce guild levels based on guild points. Some of our ideas include capping the number of guild members, and capping the maximum upgrade level in guild-controlled locations dependent on the guild level, but we’d also like your feedback and suggestions – we invite you to take part in discussion over this system!
– Once the guild ranking system comes to life, we’ll be working on introducing an arena PVP ranking where you’ll be able to prove your own skills in fair duels. Who knows, maybe it will also include group vs group or guild vs guild battles in the future as well?
– Buffs update – the final strait! Once it’s done, we’ll be finally able to introduce special effects for different weapon types, the hunger system, and the cooking and alchemy/herbalism crafting branches. Stay tuned!
– Passive abilities – top tier of passive abilities will come to life soon, allowing you to specialize your character according to your playstyle!

Changelog v.0.8.1.2

– Improved the Glory Points gain balance – increased the Glory Points earned for kills during a siege and reduced them for capturing flags in response to Community feedback
– Ended the current Glory season and started a new one – with your invaluable help we’ve been able to find and fix numerous issues which occurred after the Glory system update so we decided to start a new season and give everyone a fresh start with a more polished system. Although the season was too short to reward it with titles, the top players have received CP rewards according to their ranks. The new season will last until the end of May, so don’t wait – prove your warrior spirit in the open world PVP battles and climb up the leaderboard! P.S. Thanks to everyone for finding and reproducing all encountered issues!
– Improved lengths of polearm weapons
– Added new hints for new players

Activity matters!

From now you earn the bonus Glory Points based on your Kills/Deaths/Assists scored during a siege. We want to reward active players who do their best during the sieges – both attackers and defenders, even if they have failed to win a siege. On the other hand, we don’t want to reward inactive players, so if you’re afking during a battle, you will get lowered reward or no reward at all.

Capped flag means a win

So far defenders could run around the taken flag and wait for supports. From now on if attackers will manage to cap a flag, they are winners of a siege. Once it happens, the defenders can try to retake a flag and start a new siege – this time as attackers, but they won’t get tons of Glory without fighting anymore.

Glory Season

If we won’t find any exploit or gap in the system, we are going to start the new season tomorrow. Players in top of the ranking will be rewarded with Contribution Points.

Changelog v.0.8.1.1

– Added bonuses to Glory based on Kills/Deaths/Assists during the siege, which are given even if a player failed to cap/defend the flag
– Capping a flag ends the siege
– From now defenders have to fight to get any Glory
– Dead players can’t gather Glory – they have to respawn and fight
– Logging off during the battle is not going to change anything - enemy is still going to get his glory

Other fixes

– Fixed Sangmarian quest “To the rescue” to gather the limonite
– Fixed Hildegard’s dialogues
– Improved/changed 12 helmets models
– Adjusted range of the all melee weapons
– Minor fixes connected with quests, level design, translations and mobs

Hello warriors!

This week we have something big for you! It’s not your average Gloria Victis weekly update – it’s really huge! There are massive changes to the controller and synchronization, redefined formulas for the Glory system along with the start of a new season, new questlines and…the return of first-person view! Read more below and enjoy the update!

Controller/synchronization – responsiveness redefined!

We’ve been carefully gathering your feedback, and we realized that over 80% of our negative reviews came from users who haven’t even spent 2 hours in game, while players with more than 5 hours on record gave us over 80% of our positive reviews. In effect these new players haven’t even had a chance to try our core features like taking a part in sieges or even engage in PvP battles. We were digging deeper and it became obvious that most of these negative reviews were caused by the feeling of client-side rubberbanding and an overall lack of responsiveness.

In order to address these issues, we’ve reworked the controller and synchronization system with a completely new approach in mind. It’s now much more responsive, so the issues with client-side rubberbanding and snapping your character should be much less frequent now. Of course, we’re aware there may be bugs, and we know that NPCs synchronization needs further tweaking. Most of our programmers will spend the next week or two on polishing this huge change. The goal is to improve first impressions, since it’s hard to keep new player in-game and progress to the end-game content if the first minutes just aren’t fun enough.

Also, the synchro and controller rework allowed us to add another big thing. Ladies and gentlemen…The first-person view is back!

Glory system redefined & new season!

We were also aware that the current Glory system had some issues. We’ve addressed them in this update – what has changed?

The current system you are familiar with had intentional Glory loss for being defeated by a lower-ranked enemy – but defeating a higher-ranked enemy was very rewarding. We had to implement this solution in order to give lower-ranked players any chance to pursue those at the top of the Glory board. However, it was discouraging for the best players to PvP in the open world since they risked losing lot of glory in every battle, especially considering the fact that PvP encounters aren’t and can’t always be even matchups. In effect, the reward for holding your ground was blurred by the rage factor caused by Glory loss on death.

From now on, instead of counting kills and deaths, the Glory system will reward you for open-world warfare activities such as capturing locations, completing PvP events, and defending your nation’s lands. At the same time, the new system doesn’t involve any kind of Glory loss, eliminating the rage factor mentioned above.

The new Glory formula includes numerous anti-exploit systems as well. First of all, capturing the same flag over and over will result in a diminishing amount of earned points. Also, the amount of points for capturing and defending a flag depends on the numbers of your enemy – attacking an empty castle won’t give you glory. Also, if your warband defends a castle and heavily outnumbers the attackers, there’s a chance you won’t get any point for this defense.

Don’t sit at home – go to war! In effect, the Glory ranking is now an actual open PvP ranking, honouring the legendary heroes and warlords whose names are written in stone. Become one!

Also, since Glory is now the open-world warfare leaderboard, it doesn’t count pure PvE. However, PvE is shown on a separate leaderboard so you can still climb up the ranks and do what you enjoy! Moreover, the weekly Contribution Points rewards will be given basing on the leaderboard in which the player has the highest position, allowing you to specialize in your favorite aspect of Gloria Victis. Speaking of rewards – a new season has just started! Take your rewards for the last season and climb to the top of the leaderboard – the season will end in about 2 months!

Last but not least – while kills and deaths are no longer counted in the Glory system, they will be moved to a separate arena duels PVP ranking system with the upcoming updates. It will offer you even match-making fights where your skill makes the difference. In contrast to Glory, this ranking isn’t season-based and is cleared once a week.

Some love for the questlovers

This update adds the second part of the starting quests for the Sangmar Empire! The new questline is as long as the first one and tells a story of pride, faith and… what? Check it on your own – the journey starts at Fort Serai!

We’ve also restored the mid- and end-game questlines taking place in the two villages set by a bridge and the Dead Raven Inn. Both locations have been moved to new places in order to fit the current world PVP balance. If you haven’t a chance to complete them yet, this is your chance!

Work in Progress insight – our plans for the nearest future
First things first – most of our programmers will spend the next week or two on polishing the synchronization system and controller. However, once this is done, we’ll finally be able to move to adding cool features. Our plans include: adding the farming system, expanding the sieges mechanics, AI improvements and so on!

Of course, all these brilliant features will require a lot of work, so we hope to be able to expand the development team thanks to the Supporter Shop which is going to come to life this month! You will be able to support the game’s development directly by purchasing numerous goods – none of which will give an advantage in PVP – such as abilities points reset, re-customization and nation change.

We’re also progressing with moving buffs to a new database system. Of course, we took an opportunity to improve them in the meantime, so you can expect not only fixes but also new cool stuff soon, such as special effects applied by specific weapon types, alchemy, cooking and the hunger system. P.S. - Tier V passive abilities are coming pretty soon, too. Stay tuned!

Also, as already mentioned, you can expect the arena system to go live pretty soon. You can already practice in dedicated arenas located in the main cities which we added in the last update, and with the upcoming patches you will be able to compete in ranked duels. Do you have what it takes to become a world-famous duelist?

We’re also moving ahead with translating the entire game to the core languages. We already have the background for translating the game interface, items, recipe names, and NPC speeches, and many languages already have them translated. Now the time has come for dialogue!

Enjoy the update and see you in battle!
