Dropping in to let you know that Warly will be coming July 25th, I will have a post next week with details about his upcoming skins and info as usual.
In addition I hope to have more info on the upcoming content for Return of Them too.
I understand that this has left console players out of the loop here a bit but we ran into an issue in testing where we found a pretty bad memory issue related to the new oceans. We were left with a situation where we would either have to release the next update without the new ocean and boats and rearrange the lunar islands or spend a bunch of time getting that fixed up so it was good to ship soon.
So, when I have more definitive info on the next live update I will let you all know. We also are working on something else... unannounced that I hope to share soon as well that I think you will all enjoy (especially console).
Once again, sorry for all the timing issues, we're getting it sorted out. Thanks for your patience.
Though the circumstances of his creation were unusual at best, Wormwood came into this world full of optimism and curiosity, ready to make new friends and see all that life had to offer. But as time wore on and he experienced the cold sting of rejection, he came to learn what the moon above had always known: Wormwood the Lonesome does not belong here.
Here are his details:
Wormwood can plant Seeds directly in the ground without using Farms.
In Spring, Wormwood blossoms, gaining increased movement speed, draining hunger faster, and attracting Bees.
Eye Plants are friendly to Wormwood.
Wormwood has a Green Thumb crafting tab:
Living Log can be created at the cost of 20 Health.
Bramble Husk provides 65% Armor and shoots out thorns when hit, dealing 23 damage in a small radius. The wearer is also protected from thorns.
Bramble Trap shoots out Thorns when triggered, dealing 40 damage in a small radius.
Compost Wrap restores 30 Health to Wormwood. It can also be used as a very potent fertilizer. *
Wormwood can use Manure, Guano, or Bucket-o-poop to fertilize himself, restoring 2 Health.
Food items do not heal Wormwood.
Wormwood takes 25% more damage from fire, and burns for slightly longer.*
Wormwood loses sanity when plants are destroyed near him (e.g. picking flowers, completely chopping or burning down trees, digging up stumps, grass, saplings, or bushes, etc.) This excludes plants that are diseased or already burnt.
Wormwood gains sanity when plants are planted near him (e.g. seeds, flowers, trees, grass, saplings, or bushes, etc.)
Sanity effects from planting or destroying plants is reduced the further it happens from Wormwood.*
Wormwood can be unlocked in the following ways:
Wormwood is available for free for all owners of Don't Starve Hamlet on Steam.
Wormwood is available for purchase for $6.99 in the Wormwood Chest. Wormwood's Roseate skin set is included in this chest for free.
The Wormwood Deluxe Chest is $10.99 and includes Wormwood as well as the Roseate, Oasis Bound and Hollow skin sets.
You can weave Wormwood for 2700 spool.

And of course, we will have a new Wormwood animated short and more details When Wormwood launches on June 6th. But for now, here is a nice image from the next animated short!
With the Willow refresh newly launched, it’s time for the next phase: new game content! I’d like to update you all on our current plan.
Return of Them
Over the next several months, we’ll be releasing a series of game updates available to all players, under the single thematic focus entitled “Return of Them”.
Charlie’s machinations have come to a head as she turns her attention towards the skies - and the mysterious entity that awaits there. Our Survivors will be forced to contend with terrifying monstrosities beyond their comprehension, and yet, there may be a silver lining: their minds and horizons will be expanded under the sublime light of an ancient moon.
Here is an overview of what is available in our first update, Turn of Tides:
Added a new multiplayer-centric boat mechanic, where players can build and deck out a boat for multiple survivors to travel together on
Added a new boating craft menu
Added the Lunar Island
Added Enlightenment
Added 3 new Lunar Island biomes, along with new creatures, objects, and craftables
For this first update, we’ve focused primarily on building the fundamental tech and infrastructure for Return of Them. Please know that we expect this update to be a bit content light, and over the following months we will be adding more content to both the islands and the sea.
In addition to new content, we are preparing for the arrival of the next new character. We’re happy to announce that Wormwood will soon enter the fray, fresh from his adventures in Don't Starve: Hamlet!
Wormwood is coming to Don’t Starve Together on June 6th, and will be priced similarly to Wortox. In addition, anyone who owns Don’t Starve: Hamlet will have access to Wormwood for free.
Warly
For the next character refresh, Warly will be sailing into the Constant from Shipwrecked on July 18th, and will be free to all players of Don’t Starve Together.
As with all character updates, Warly will be getting a design refresh and come with new abilities specific to Don’t Starve Together.
And that’s it! Onward and seaward!
F.A.Q.
What about console? Since console does not have beta branch functionality, consoles will be getting Turn of Tides at the official launch in June.
When is my favorite character getting a refresh? We will announce more characters refreshes as we get to them. If you have suggestions and feedback make sure to post them. We are watching and we do use that information to help us decide what we want to do next.
Will my existing worlds be affected if I switch to the beta branch? No. Save data for the beta branch is kept separate from the live branch at: \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogetherReturnOfThemBeta
Will my existing worlds work in the beta branch if I copy them over? Not at this time. For future updates, we will look into the possibility of retrofitting the new content into existing DST worlds, as we did for the A New Reign updates.

Here we are with our second character update! We have a few things to share, from Willow’s character refresh, to new skin sales and Twitch campaign.
Here we go!
From the Ashes Every character has their story, and with each refresh, we will be revealing a bit more of their past. See what memories Willow has to share with you in our latest short:
Willow Refresh With the memories of her tragic past reignited, Willow has tapped into formidable powers for her childhood friend and protector, Bernie, as well as receiving full fire immunity and other bonuses.
Willow is now immune to fire damage.
Willow is now more easily frozen (e.g. by Ice Staves or Deerclops).
Willow no longer gets cold from low sanity.
Winter gear is slightly less effective at keeping Willow warm.
Willow takes more damage and loses sanity at freezing temperatures.
Willow takes longer to overheat and less damage when overheated.
Willow takes no burn damage while extinguishing smoldering fires and does it faster than others.
Adding fuel to fires is 50% more effective.
Bernie can now be equipped by Willow for sanity and warmth at the cost of durability.
Bernie grows big and will taunt and fight most hostile creatures when Willow is nearby and insane.
Bernie will still taunt Shadow Creatures when any other player is nearby and insane.
In addition, Willow still gains sanity near fire and can still cook with her Lighter.
Willow’s Guest of Honor, Triumphant, Survivor and Rose Skins can now be purchased and are all now available for purchase. All owners of these classic skins prior to today are now upgraded to an “Heirloom” rarity, with full unraveling value (that is, an Heirloom Elegant can be unraveled for 1350 spool).
Willow also has some new items that can be dropped, weaved or purchased.
The Ghastly Attic Chest can be purchased for $3.99 and contains Ashley, The Cursed Sterling Lighter and the Baleful Lace Parasol. The Willow Deluxe Wardrobe contains 5 of Willow's item sets, including the new "Forlorn Doll" set for $12.99
Drop Changes We have removed icons, vignettes and profile backgrounds from the drop table. These items are still weaveable, however you will no longer receive them as drops. In addition, we have added about 100 color and slight variants of many existing common drops.
Originally we added the icons, vignettes and profile backgrounds so that we had more items to collect, but as many of these items were seasonal items, it gave the appearance that these were being dropped unintentionally.
New Twitch Campaign We are getting ready for a new twitch campaign with an entirely new theme.
We’re just about ready for the next Character Refresh! Willow’s Refresh will be coming May 7th.
I am going to share some of the details of her changes. Of course, this is still subject to change and will likely see some adjusting before and after release.
Willow no longer gets cold from low sanity.
Willow takes more damage and loses sanity from freezing.
Willow takes less damage from overheating.
Willow gets fire immunity for the first several seconds and then reduced damage thereafter.
Willow takes no burn damage while extinguishing fires and does it faster than others.
Adding fuel to fires is more effective for Willow.
After going through the first few rounds of character refreshes and introducing a brand new character, we have had the chance to regroup to see how our scheduling is working out and have decided to make a few small changes. The scheduling we initially set for ourselves was too aggressive and we’ll be pulling back a bit so that the dev cycle for new content isn’t as hard on our team.
We found that our schedule was just too demanding and we want to be able to make things interesting and not just pump out stuff as fast as we can.
As of this writing our schedule looks like this:
Willow Refresh: May 7th Content Update (beta): Mid May Unannounced New Character: Early June Content Update (live): Mid/Late June Next Refresh: Mid July
NOTE: As long time fans are aware, we do not prioritize dates above content or the team, so dates are always subject to change.
We have dates set for each of these, but at this point I think it may be best to not get too ambitious with setting a date publicly. Assuming that the dust is now settled, we hope that this will be our cadence for quite some time. We’ll review again after the content update hits beta next month.
As always, we look forward to your thoughts and feedback. Thanks everybody!
Hey everyone! Today we are launching Wortox, please enjoy!
Possessions
A playful imp with a colourful past, Wortox was once a gentle (if rascally) forest creature without a care in the world -- until the day he inherited a terrible curse, and lost a close friend. Unlike the other Survivors, he does not appear to be trapped in the Constant. Perhaps he views this as some sort of game?
Wortox’s Abilities
Wortox the Soul Starved has hopped his way into the Constant to join our intrepid band of Survivors. He’s a fun, mischievous fellow with a big, kind heart… minus the fact that he eats souls for sustenance.
Here are his details:
Wortox catches the Souls of creatures that die around him.
Souls can be used for the following abilities:
Wortox can eat delicious souls (then loses some sanity).
Wortox teleports a short distance.
Release Souls to heal nearby allies.
Unfortunately for Wortox, his body craves Souls. Food is only ½ as sustaining.
Wortox can be overloaded with Souls, causing him to drop them and lose sanity.
Wortox is less afraid of monsters.
Wortox can be unlocked in the following ways:
As with Winona, we will likely be tuning Wortox with balance adjustments in the future. Please let us know your thoughts and feedback!
Wortox is available for purchase for $6.99, in the Wortox Chest.
Wortox’s Survivor skin set is included in this chest for free.
The Wortox Deluxe Chest is $10.99 and includes the Survivor, Minotaur and Uncorrupted skin sets.
You can weave Wortox for 2700 spool.
These are the different Wortox outfits we are launching with:
Console Update
Unfortunately we hit a bit of a snag. XboxOne will get the update today but we aren't able to get it out today for PS4. It's possible we can have it out tomorrow, but we expect it to come next week. We're sorry for the delay. The following bundles are now available:
Wortox Deluxe Chest
Voxola Warehouse Chest
All Survivors Gladiator Chest
Official Chinese Support
New to this release, our in-house Chinese specialist has reviewed our entire string library (more than 25,000 strings!) and we are now officially supporting Simplified Chinese. If you have any feedback on our translation, we would be happy to hear it.
Upcoming
At the end of April we are planning to release the first major game update. This first update will be focused on laying the groundwork for more content.
In addition, the next character to be refreshed will be Willow, launching at the same time as the game update.
Onward and upward!
Hotfix 320890
Armor will no longer take damage when evading an attack during Soul Hop.
Sand Spikes, Relics, Balloons, Meat Bulbs, and Nightmares will no longer spawn Souls.
Sand Spikes, Relics, and Balloons will no longer trigger Abigail or Wigrid’s Battleborn.
Minor fixes in Wortox’s speech strings.
Minor fixes for Chinese translations.
Hotfix 322646
Creatures that die in traps near Wortox will now spawn souls.
Hey everybody. We're a little bit later than we had anticipated, but we wanted to let you know that first new character DLC will come to Don't Starve Together March 28th.
Wortox the Soul Starved will soon hop his way into the Constant to join our intrepid band of Survivors. He’s a fun, mischievous fellow with a big, kind heart… minus the fact that he eats souls for sustenance.
Here are his details:

Sorry that you have to wait a little longer. But for now to a tease for Wortox's animated short, please enjoy Wes peacefully napping by a tree.
Today’s a big day for Don’t Starve Together. We have quite a few things to talk about today, from Winona’s character refresh, to some lore content, to a drastic increase in drop rates.
Here we go!
Next of Kin
Every character has their story, and with each refresh, we will be revealing a bit more of their past. See what memories Winona has to share with you here:
Winona has been hard at work since landing in the Constant, and she’s invented a couple new ingenious tools! She can now construct a catapult to keep enemies at bay, as well as a spotlight to keep her and her friends safe from Charlie. Both of these gadgets are powered by her new portable generators.
Unfortunately, her hardworking nature may the better of her and she may work up an appetite without proper planning.
We’re also launching the new Industrious skin for Winona, an Industrial-themed item set, and the classic Guest of Honor, Triumphant, Survivor and Rose skins are now all available for purchase. All owners of these classic skins prior to today are now upgraded to an “Heirloom” rarity, with full unraveling value (that is, an Heirloom Elegant can be unraveled for 1350 spool).
New Drop System
In addition to these new skins, we are announcing drastically improved drop rates for everyone.
We want to make sure that players are able to earn skins and new characters in a reasonable amount of time. They previously could not so we felt the drop rate needed to be revised to reflect that. We are starting this new drop system before the first new character to give everybody a nice head start to earn spool before it’s release.
The first thing we are doing is providing a daily item bonus. Each day you play, you will receive a drop simply by logging in. Secondly, we are doubling the amount of timed drops that are given per week to 8, up from the previous 4. Along with the daily item bonus, players can now receive a total of 15 items per week, nearly 4 times the previous amount.
And finally, we have increased the frequency of elegants and other rare items in the drop table.
Our previous drop rates were as follows:
Common: 68%
Classy: 23.00%
Spiffy: 6.00%
Distinguished: 2.50%
Elegant: 0.50%
Today, the drop rates are:
Common: 52.7%
Classy: 26.0%
Spiffy: 13.0%
Distinguished: 6.0%
Elegant: 2.3%
Upcoming
We have lots more in store! Our first new character is launching later this month, new Twitch items are coming next week, and the first pass of our new content is coming in April.
Enjoy!

Reduced Winona’s crafting speed penalty when she is hungry.
Winona’s Catapult no longer damages Maxwell’s Shadow Minions.
Winona’s Spotlights will now prioritize having different targets from each other.
Increased maximum range of Winona’s Spotlight.
Koelefant burning to death will now drop Koalefant Trunk Steak instead of Ash.
Bug Fixes
Fixed audio bug where Catapult sounds sometimes continued after they became burnt.
Fixed bug with Night Light not consuming fuel properly.
Fixed bug where Clay Hounds did not spawn from hunts when Year of the Varg event is enabled.
Fixed layering bug where Winona’s Voxola Work Uniform was failing to hide skirts.
The first Character Update for Don't Starve Together is coming next week on March 7th!
Winona has been hard at work since landing in the Constant, and she’s invented a couple new ingenious tools! Always ready to roll up her sleeves and lend a helping hand, her new Catapult and Spotlight inventions will be sure to keep her new pals safe, no matter what dangers head their way.
Winona’s Catapult
Requires a rechargeable Generator to power
AOE damage to the nearest enemy
Winona’s Spotlight
Requires a rechargeable Generator to power
Illuminates the nearest ally
Rechargeable Generators
Winona’s Generator
Provides about a day’s worth of power
Requires nitre as fuel
Winona’s G.E.M.erator
Provides 6 day’s worth of power
Requires gems as fuel
However, Winona’s can-do attitude comes at a cost:
Winona now consumes hunger when speed-crafting
Winona now crafts slowly when hungry (with no hunger cost)
With the update we will also have a new animated short and some huge changes to the drop system.
