The Gorge and The Gorge Tournament have come to an end.

Thanks to all who participated in The Gorge Tournament! We'll be posting some stats and results and distributing prizes by the end of tomorrow.

We got a lot of great feedback and hopefully we will be doing more events like this in the future.

The Gorge Tournament has begun!

Beginning at 11am PST, all Steam DST players who play the Gorge can start competing for the best scores. The top teams will receive the following:

Gold - (Top team of 1 - 3 players): Exclusive Gold Portrait, Exclusive Gold Icon, and Every item introduced with The Gorge, including the Survivors Chest and the Belongings Chest.

Silver - (Next 5 top teams of 1 - 3 unique players): Exclusive Silver Portrait, Exclusive Silver Icon, and The Gorge Belongings Chest.

Bronze - (Remaining Top 100 unique Players): Exclusive Bronze Icon and 25 Gorge Chests.

All participants will receive a special participation reward. Players appearing in multiple teams will only receive the reward for the highest tier they qualify for. Some restrictions apply, see below. 

This is going to be the first event of its kind, so we reserve the right to change things if we need to, or cancel due to unexpected complications.

We would love to do more things like this in the future, so make sure to give us your feedback!



In order to qualify for The Gorge Tournament, you must finish a match with these 4 badges:

 Victory

 No Tributes Failed

 No Repeat Meals

 No Duplicate Survivors

(NOTE: It is OK to have other badges as well.)
Then, if your account qualifies, your score will automatically be entered, and this badge will show up as well:

Appeasement Points are calculated by adding up all the points from each snackrifice (see below), multiplying by 1000, and then dividing by the total number of seconds spent in the entire match.

Coin values are as follows:

 1 point per coin.

 1 coin is worth 28 points, 2 coins is worth 84 points.

 1 coin is worth 98 points, 2 coins is worth 294 points.

 1 coin is worth 343 points.


For example, when the craving is matched:

Tomato Soup is worth 1× + 8× = 28 + 8 = 36 points
Candied Fish is worth 2× + 4× = 84 + 4 = 88 points
And say you escaped in 185 seconds using one Tomato Soup and one Candied Fish, then your match score would be:

(36 + 88) × 1000 ÷ 185 = 670 Appeasement Points


What are the restrictions?

This tournament is Steam only, and only accounts that own Don't Starve Together can participate. Family Sharing "child" accounts will not qualify. Accounts must be in good standing.

Where can I see my rank?

The players qualifying for the gold, silver and bronze rewards are listed in the Tournament section of the leaderboards (https://forums.kleientertainment.com/gorge-recipe-book/).

What if I belong to multiple high scoring teams?

You will be rewarded based on the team with the highest score. If you qualify under multiple tiers, you will receive an award only for the highest qualifying tier.

When does the tournament end?

The tournament ends on July 17th at 11am Pacific time. Winners will be determined and prizes will be distributed shortly thereafter.

What about merch?

We wanted to give out merch as a prize, but the laws are scary, so we decided not to mess with that. If we get a lot of good feedback from this tournament, we'll look into how to go about physical prizes in the future.

Hey Everybody,

As you may be aware The Gorge was scheduled to end next Monday on the 9th. We have decided to extend the event a week to July 17th so that you can have the weekend to finish up your accomplishments, get those levels, and get ready for The Gorge Tournament!

We will be posting details soon, but for a small teaser - We will be giving out Klei game codes and exclusive portrait backgrounds, icons and more - so make sure you come back here on the 9th for details.

What is The Gorge?
The Gorge is a new limited time event that we are creating for Don’t Starve Together. During this time players can earn event themed skins and rewards that are only dropped during the event.

The Gorge is a free limited time 3-player co-op challenge with tons of new skins, emotes, items and more. Your goal is to cook and offer food on the Altar of Gnaw, but you'll need all the cooks in the kitchen to keep it fed, so work together to survive!

The Gorge is played on official Klei servers that are available only during the event. There are no community hosted servers during this event. 

What else is in The Gorge?

• With The Gorge we have added a bunch of new stuff for players to collect. 
  
• New character skins, emotes, item skins and more. In total over 200 items.
  
• New free on-demand dedicated event servers (Gorge Only).
  
• Tons of new main menu UI additions and changes.
  
• Simple Matchmaking with friends / community groups.

If I play the regular game during the event, can I still earn skins?
You can. However, with one big difference. All common drops will now reward an event chest that contains Gorge event items. Regular common items will return after the event. 

Is The Gorge free?
Yes! Events are free for everyone who owns DST. Players will have the option to purchase a single character’s Victorian Skin Set for $2.99, or the entire Victorian Skin Set collection for $12.99. We also have a new chest full of 7 awesome Gorge themed items available for $9.99. You can purchase the entire set as a bundle for $19.99. Of course you can always earn these items in the game, or craft them.

We hope that with this mechanism, we can both continue creating great free content while also supporting the development team. In addition, this method of funding allows us to provide content to all our players, instead of splitting the player community if we implemented it with a DLC paywall.

When does the Gorge end? 
The Gorge will last a little over 3 weeks from the time it launches and we ending July 9th.
