Feel lucky? You should!
During the Saint Patrick's Event, players will receive double the regular amount of skin drops! We've also added a bunch of new free drop items to obtain with this patch. Enjoy!
New Map Coming Soon!
Today's patch also lays some of the groundwork for the next major update coming very soon, which will include the fourth officially accepted community map for PCE! We have seen a hugely popular response to the Borealis map during testing, and are super excited for more people to get the chance to play in this creative new environment soon!

Love is in the air today, as we launch the Valentines Update for Primal Carnage: Extinction!
We've got a range of new items coming in and a handful of extra fixes for you all, read on for the details...
Feeling Tickled Pink
You may notice a certain theme in-store this week. We're embracing the feels as Valentine's Day is nearly upon us. Check out a charming collection of new community-made skins and taunts, from the rosy red cheeks of the Blushing Rex to the hot salmon pink of Empress Cryo, take your pick!

There are more than 20 items obtainable from inside Valentines Gifts. To have a peek at what's available, look here. We've got a whole Trello board showcasing everything!
Official Soundtrack update
To tie-in with Steam's soundtrack sale that's on right now, we've overhauled the official soundtrack DLC so it will work better with the updated Steam music features. The album contains a huge assortment of tracks from the original Primal Carnage and Primal Carnage Extinction- featuring almost 100 minutes of pulse-pounding music by acclaimed maestros Gareth Coker (Ori and the Blind Forest) and Zach Lemmon.
Alongside this week's event, we have another small game update. Here's the change list...
Reduced damage of Carnotaurus bite from 75 to 60
Added randomization to main menu music, now swaps between 3 tracks.
Resolved some collision issues in GTTC-TheFalls and GTTC-Downpour
Fixed a couple of T.Rex skins that were missing their spikes
Fixed some incorrect inventory icons
We also released an update last week which improved the Carnotaurus roar ability, among several other changes. 2020 has only just begun, and there's a lot more we're planning this year for PCE, so stay tuned for more info.
This week we bid farewell to winter as our special month-long event comes to a close (yeah yeah, it's not year-long this time!). We have a bunch of new gameplay adustments, bugfixes and cosmetics being added with today's update, but first, something special...
The Winter Art Contest Is Over!
The community has been bursting with creativity this past week during the second official art contest. We've been astounded by the quality and volume of the submissions that have been sent in, with a wide range of styles and scenes all based loosely around the theme of "Primal Winter Adventure"!
In fact, we arranged a tour of through the Phoenix Gallery to show all the great pieces we've received..
And the winners are...?
The response to this contest has been amazing and it was truly difficult deciding on who would walk away with a prize. But after much deliberation, here are the winning entries..
Third Place Winner: Liraelwolf
Bold and colourful, this confrontation between the Pathfinder and T.Rex is the most dramatic of the scenes here- a classic depiction of desperation as he tries to escape by blinding his attacker. We love the dynamism, it feels almost like a panel from a graphic novel!
Second Place Winner: Noctalos
A mysterious vision of a faraway atrium, with escaped predators following a blood trail to their next meal. We really responded to the atmosphere of this one, the foggy feeling and moody lighting is top notch, it's an incredibly impressive illustration!
First Place Winner: ShufflePlay
This breathtaking piece perfectly encapsulates the theme of "adventure". We were simply stunned when we saw this. Featuring great composition, style and storytelling.. it honestly presents Primal Carnage how we'd always felt about it our hearts. Excellent work!
Honorable Mentions
Here are some of our other favourites, all of them great pieces that really stood out to us when we were looking through the entrants. They may not have made it to the top row, but the passion and fun their creators had shines through... (click images to enlarge)
Thanks again to everyone who took part!
We will be reaching out to the winners about their prizes soon, and hope that we see you all for the next contest. We're definitely planning to run more of these in future! And we'll give you a little more time to finish probably, considering some of our winning pieces were handed in at the eleventh hour!
Store Update
With the end of the Winter Event we have a fresh new rotation of items being added to the store today, along with some great deals you can find under the Specials tab! We're featuring T-Rexes and Tupas this week, with several new designs available and a special character pack for our flying fiend.
We're also keeping a few festive faves in-store for the time being. These "encore items" include the 2019 Winter Gift, Wendigo Pathfinder, Cold Fire Novaraptor and the wildly popular Festive Antlers. They won't stick around forever though, so act fast if you want to get yours!

Winter Wrap-up
We're now in the fourth and final week of the Extinction Winter Event, which means another set of cool new items is now live. Don't forget to check out the latest lineup and fire sale before the event is over! Who knows when they'll return?
The response to the winter event has been incredible, it's great to see that even after five years, we still have a dedicated community supporting the game. And not just playing, but producing content every day that never fails to amaze and inspire us.
You guys are the best!
From awesome shots in the screenshots section to workshop maps to skins, it just never ends. I'm not saying the community is starting to make better stuff than we do...because I want to keep my job...but it's err close. Yeah.
But forget that thought, check out this small sample of amazing stuff the community's been up to lately!
Also - while winter isn't *quite* over yet, it looks like there's a clear winner for which Workshop item was most popular... it's definitely going to be the Cold Fire Novaraptor. Congrats to the skin's creator, BBQ!
Trello Update!
A long time ago we used Trello as a method of projecting a roadmap to the community as well as a place to showcase the in-game items we have available. Unfortunately there was a period where it stopped getting updated and eventually it was abandoned. Not anymore! Now it's completely up to date and will soon have a new public roadmap. Certain events will have pages here as well.
Check out the landing page for the new Trello here.
Happy hunting! And once again, thank you to our wonderful community!
A new patch for Primal Carnage: Extinction has been released.
This hotfix should resolve some performance problems with new cosmetic items such as dino santa hats, mitigating server log spam that was causing severe slowdown. And, uh.. spiked Tyrannosaurs won't wear antlers wrapped around their feet anymore. We've also fixed the Oviraptor to properly mark mines for teammates.
We hope this hotfix makes the winter event much smoother for everyone!
Today marks the beginning of the Primal Carnage: ExtinctionWinter Event!
Yes, the decorations should be coming down soon and we're heading into a new decade, but we hope you'll forgive us for being fashionably late. Not only is there a new update, but for the next few weeks we’ll be hosting special community events, introducing new winter store items and running fire sales!
One of the special events will be a new Winter Art Contest (with a fantastic prize for the winner). Details are coming soon, so keep an eye out!
And to read all about the dozens of gameplay changes, balance tweaks and bugfixes that come with the winter update, see the bottom of this post for the full changelog.
Now, it wouldn’t be the holidays without presents. And speaking of presents…
GIFTS ARE BACK
By popular demand, ALL gifts from past Winter updates have been brought back with the original 2015 gift 30% off right off the bat. In the past gifts awarded up to 16 players an item from that gift's selection. This year with their return, we decided that 16 seemed a little low, so to further celebrate the season of giving we’ve bumped that up to 24.
Gifts are also now fully altruistic, making them a true act of generosity. The player who opens the gift is blessed with a warm feeling inside, knowing they have brought a little joy to the world.
In addition to legacy gifts returning, we also have an all-new gift debuting this winter. This gift has some items from the past and some exciting ones that have never been seen before!
FIRE SALES
A wide range of new skins, accessories and taunts arrive with this update, and over the next few weeks we'll be running FIRE SALES on selected items in the store!
Both new and old items for a variety of classes will be rotating through, in addition to discounts on various winter themed items and cosmetics. Grab some hot deals while you can!
Keep an eye out for announcements on the in-game news ticker, the Primal Carnage: Extinction Discord, Facebook, or Twitter to know when new deals go live!

And don't forget, the winter update for Primal Carnage: Extinction is just around the corner!
We'll be back in only a couple of days with the full change notes for version 1.12, bringing a number of long-awaited fixes and quality of life improvements to the game. We're excited to see how some of the gameplay tweaks we've been trying out in Open Testing fare, once they are unleashed into the wild!
A cold, dark chill is in the air. Winter is here, and the next Primal Carnage: Extinction game update is nearly upon us! With just a few days until the launch of our latest winter event, here is a little tease of what's stalking your way soon...
Some of you may recall that Santa loved visiting our dinosaur island so much he decided to set up shop away from the north pole. Even trading reindeer for pterosaurs as our live-in festivity officer for a couple years there and keeping temperatures on the.. uh.. cool side. Fear not though, as winter will only last but a month this time round. The dinosaurs have started regarding jingle bells as the dinner bell at this point, so it's probably safer this way.
During the winter event there will be numerous discounts available from the in-game store, with new deals regularly appearing, so check back often if you're on the hunt for a new look!
In addition to a fountain of new festive fan-made skins, you can expect more game fixes and rebalancing. Issues with features such as tyrant roars have been resolved, further improvements to Capture The Egg mode are on the way and it's easier to find pickup items with them now being highlighted when you are low on health or ammo.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, be sure to read the full winter update change notes on release!
Grab a copy for you or a friend. Seize the moment and get a 4-pack. Treat yourself, you've earned it.
Extinction Developer Toolkit Update
So, this Tuesday happened to be the glorious 3 year anniversary of the Extinction Development Toolkit's... uh.. last update..
Unfortunately, it used to be very difficult to compile editor builds, so as a result we did them less often. The issue is that the difference in content between the editor and live game caused problems.
GOOD NEWS - We've taken care of the compile issue and today a new editor build will be live. In future, both the game and toolkit will receive updates at the same time.
Despite the pause in tool updates, the Primal community wasn't deterred. The team has been absolutely blown away by what you guys have created over the years. Some of what we've seen in the Workshop is even higher quality than what we're able to produce (although you'd never hear us say that out loud!).
But we want to see more. And we're dedicated to helping anyone willing to give it a shot. Going forward, one of our priorities will be to create more tutorials and prefab content to help speed up the creation process for everyone. If you weren't already aware, you can find the current developer wiki here.
If you have any questions or interest in showing off your work you can ping @Apoc and @dinosauriac in the #ExtinctionEditor section of our Discord. They'll answer. Or else!
Besides that, we're also looking into hosting a few community contests, with Workshop maps and skins being the most likely categories. If that interests you and you're thinking about diving in, don't wait until the last minute to start learning!
Map Stamps: How Are They?
We wanted to let everyone know that Map Stamps have been very popular! For those that aren't aware, each Community Workshop map we've implemented into the game comes with it's own Map Stamp. The creator of the map gets two thirds of all Stamp revenue, while those who purchase a stamp get a special item. Stamps provide a way to give something back to the creators for their hard work, similar to the system for Workshop skin authors.
We're always on the lookout for more candidates for the Map Stamp system, so if you have a concept you've been working on but haven't posted it...don't hesitate! We really do want to see it.
Extinction Store Feature - Turkey Week
With Spitter Week coming to a close, we now give attention to the long time fan favorite Turkey class with Turkey Week!
If it's an Oviraptor or a Novaraptor with feathers on it, this week we're calling it a Turkey. And for humans players- it's open season on these guys. Especially for any hunter looking to catch a new exciting type of Turkey:
An Oviraptor!? With quills? This genetic experiment is clearly the work of a genius or someone pure evil.
We have three hot Oviraptor skins, an Ovi bundle, and two Feathered Raptors for this week's featured lineup. Along with that we're also cycling out several items that have been in for a few weeks for some brand new ones. What new ones? Check out the store and see for yourself!
Winter Update
Stay tuned for more information on what we'll be planning in December. In the meantime...
The Dinovember Update for Primal Carnage: Extinction has been released! Read all about it...
STORE REFRESH
Halloween Horrorsis behind us, but we have some frightfully good new looks in-store for Carnotaurus. This charging bruiser is the latest featured class as part of our new regular store rotation, with several new community-created cosmetics available now, alongside a character skin pack for the Carno.
MAP STAMPS
In our last major update we added 3 new maps developed by our fans. We've loved seeing the positive response to these, and wanted to provide a way to give something back to the creators for their hard work. To that end, we are introducing Map Stamps to the store this month.
Map makers will receive two thirds of all profits from stamp purchases. As well as supporting creators, there is a unique skin obtained by purchasing each map stamp for your generosity!

LOADOUT INCONSISTENCIES
A while ago, the throwable items for human classes were re-arranged. However, there was a bug where loadouts would not be properly validated, which sometimes caused the wrong items to appear equipped.
The update *should* resolve this issue, but as a result everyone's loadout will be reset to default. You will need to re-equip your skins and weapons when next starting the game.
Our apologies for the inconvenience.
RANKING SYSTEM FIXES
Over the past few weeks a number of backend fixes have been deployed for the economy system. Challenges and rankup rewards should hopefully be working properly now after this latest patch. We will be continuing to put more checks in place server-side, to ensure that the system is working as intended. Be sure to head on over to the Issues & Bug Reporting forum if you encounter any problems.
