Rodina - Raptormeat

The Xeno Bases in Rodina have received a major visual upgrade!

This update includes 2 major technical additions. A room-based fog system adds visual depth to the interiors, and will allow me to visualize future gameplay elements like atmosphere, smoke, and poison gas.

The walls are also now being procedurally decorated with the Wave Function Collapse Algorithm. This gives the interiors a more complex look and will allow for much more room variation!

Next update is going to be pure gameplay - a new enemy, bigger bases, more resources, and more!

Thanks for your support!

**** RODINA 1.3.4****

* New Feature: Wall pattern generator using Wavefunction Collapse algorithm from sample
* New Feature: Rework rendering to be portal-based

Hey folks! I'm sorry I haven't done a dev update yet for this update. I've been working on 2 tech upgrades to give a visual overhaul to the building interiors: room-based fog and procedural wall decoration patterns! This should only be affecting the Xeno Buildings right now.

I decided, since it was such a big job, to release this work all as its own update :D

I just released a Beta - if you'd like to help me test it out, please check it out! This contains some major tech changes so please let me know if you notice bugs, or bad performance :D

To try:
Steam Library -> right click Rodina -> Properties -> Betas tab -> choose "beta" or "dev" from dropdown

They're here!

Xeno Bases are starting to pop up on the planets in the Zorica System! I'm very excited about this update!

These bases aren't fully functional yet. As the Xenos finish their construction, they will become even more dangerous.

Next up: making the bases more awesome with functional shields, turrets, explosive Thermal Gel, Trooper Xenos, atmospheric pressure, and maybe much more stylish walls!

Thank you for all the support!

I'm working on Rodina 1.3.3 - Xeno Buildings and it's coming along great!

I've been busy building building exteriors, decorations, and a tileset, and I finally put them all together!

Going to do release the update sooner than expected too - only a couple more weeks! :D

I updated 1.3.2 with a patch to fix some pressing issues!

* fix duplicate Xeno Mines being placed on Morena
* fix player allowed to modify airlock (still allow deletion in case user overwrote airlock)
* remove potential duplicate airlock machines

This patch is up now!

I've also been making a lot of progress on 1.3.3. Will preview Xeno Buildings soon!

Version 1.3.2 of Rodina has been released!

This update expands the Xeno Mines to all of the planets in the game! These new mines, with rooms that are bigger than what was possible before, showcase the new enemy: the jetpack-equipped Xeno Fliers!

1.3.2 also revamps the Gravbike with better motion on land and the ability to use the bikes in space. It also changes the way you acquire them - now Gravbikes are located in Vanguard Ruin Garages.

I'm thrilled about this update because it means I can move on to the next stage of Xeno Bases - real Xeno buildings! Hope you guys enjoy the progress!

Changelist:

* New Feature: Xeno Mines on asteroids
* New Feature: Xeno Scrapper enemy
* New Feature: Xeno Mines interior tileset including Xeno door.

* Improvement: Airlock / mine entrance added in via separate EGI file
* Improvement: Generator EGSL now allows loot and NPCs

* Bugfix: Fix not being able to stop jetpacking indoors by forcing interiors to usually max LOD
* Bugfix: In editor, don't allow room smearing outside of interior bounds
* Bugfix: Fix bugs with missing floors
* Bugfix: Fix character up vector not being set unless character is walking

Update 1.3.2 is officially in beta! This is a great update - it distributes the Xeno Mines to all the planets, expands the room generator to allow for larger rooms, and adds a jetpack-wearing Xeno Flier to the game!

This update also revamps the gravbike, which now controls better, can be used in space (somewhat!) and can be found in garages in the Vanguard Ruins.

Please help me out by loading it up and playing for a while. If you see bugs, please post on the forums or email me at brendan@elliptic-games.com

The full version - with the changelist and final bugfixes - will be out early next week!

Steam Library -> right click Rodina -> Properties -> Betas tab -> choose "beta" (or "dev") from the dropdown

New Dev update to Rodina on Steam! This time I'm revamping the GravBike with some long-needed improvements.

The GravBike is no longer aquired as a "debris" item on planets, nor is it required that you pick up a bike in order to progress the story.

Instead, the bikes are housed in garage rooms in a bunch of the Vanguard Ruins. To find a bike, just head to some of the ruins and explore! This gives the Ruins a bit more meaning, and allows players recourse if they lose their bike!

Additionally, the bike controls have been improved. Now it actually hovers over the ground, making it MUCH easier to fly over mountainous terrain. Also, you can now use the bike in space! (Controls are not perfect and I probably still have some polish to do!)

That's the last Dev update for 1.3.2! Now I need to do a bunch of polish / bugfixes before the full release!

Thanks for all your support!

To try it, go to: Steam Library -> right click Rodina -> Properties -> Betas tab -> choose "dev" from dropdown (build is unstable and will have bugs!)

New Dev update to Rodina on Steam! This time I'm adding a new Xeno enemy - the jetpacked Flier!

You can find this guy randomly in any of the Xeno Mines (for now!). Also for the time being, they just have normal blasters, but I may change that!

Now that these guys are done, I'm going to focus on polishing up this update and releasing it as 1.3.2! I have a few notable changes to make, but it should hopefully be done in a couple weeks!

Next up after that - Xeno BASES! So - real buildings! No more of this mine stuff!!! :D

To try it, go to: Steam Library -> right click Rodina -> Properties -> Betas tab -> choose "dev" from dropdown (build is unstable and will have bugs!)

I just uploaded a Dev update! This update expands the range of Xeno Mines to include all of the planets!

I also tweaked the Interior Generator to allow for larger rooms. Look at all the room for activities!

Next up is a new enemy - the Jetpack Xeno, to take advantage of all this space!

I'll try to release 1.3.2 soon after those guys are in!!
