Stranded Deep - spraycanmansam | Beam Team Games

Hi everyone,

A new experimental build 0.30.00 has just been released!

This build features the return of the Quick Crafting Menu!

One of the community’s sorely missed features is back! Some players may recall when we removed the old quick crafting menu and replaced it with the larger list or book style menu. It received mixed reviews but was a necessary evil due to the sheer number of craftable combinations which resulted in the menu quickly becoming cumbersome to scroll through. The changed crafting menu was necessary and here to stay but we had always planned on reintroducing the Quick Crafting menu. The new Quick Crafting menu gets back to the roots of Stranded Deep’s crafting mechanics. It’s intended for quickly crafting objects that you know the materials for or maybe quicker crafting of the same object multiple times, like arrows. There are a lot of scenarios where you don’t need to open the large crafting menu to craft what you need.

To open the new Quick Crafting menu all you need to do is press and hold the crafting menu key [C] for a short moment, similar to the interacting mechanic. The Quick Crafting menu won’t display if you don’t have any craftable combinations from the materials in front of you or in your backpack.
If you press the crafting key [C] once without holding it, it will open the regular crafting menu. The larger style crafting menu will remain as a supplementary guide, listing all the possible crafting combos.

Similar to the large crafting menu, the Quick Crafting menu uses any tools in your hands to enable and prioritize combinations shown. For eg: if you have a Hammer equipped, the Quick Crafting menu will display any available building combinations first. Likewise, if you have a Hoe equipped farming combinations will be displayed first and so on.

The general crafting area/radius has been tightened also. The distance has been reduced and now only items in the area in front of you will count towards your crafting materials. This is important to remember, particularly for the Quick Crafting menu – If your available combos keep changing around as you move, this is more than likely why.

The Inventory now also displays an items health, durability or servings. An item’s health is represented by how ‘full’ the icon appears.

There’s also a few more smaller features like New Day Notifications and Damage Indicators that help add a bit more polish too.

Have fun!

Hi everyone,

A new experimental build 0.29.00 has just been released!

This build features new Player Effects, Plank Station, Leather Waterskin and more!

The new Plank Station is a craftable station that allows you to craft Planks from Logs by a process called riving. There’s a new Leather Waterskin which fits nicely between Coconuts and Clay Waterbottles. There’s also new Player Status Effects; You are now affected directly by the elements. You can get Sunburn by going extended periods without shelter or shade. Likewise, at night you will get Cold if you don’t have a Camp Fire to keep you warm. Effects like Sunburn and Cold are pre-cursors to more serious illnesses. You won’t experience any immediate negative side effects from these effects but they serve as a warning. Cold will develop into the Flu which will persist for a few game hours even after you are warm again, draining various vitals. Similarly, Sunburn will develop into Heatstroke. It will be important to manage your vitals during those game hours if you contract these effects. There’s different visual and audio cues for each effect and the Watch will also beep if you contract a new status effect. The Watch also displays your current status effects on a third screen, just in case you’ve missed the audio and visual cues. These effect will be incorporated more fully with building tiers in a future update where lower tiers will offer less protection from the elements.

There’s also a new feature that has been sorely missing – a Game Over screen. It will display the cause of death and days survived before returning to the main screen. We’ve also added a proper death animation to make it more obvious also.

Have fun!
May the 4th be with you..

BUG FIXES
- Fixed Animals with Rawhide rewards not Skinning properly.
Stranded Deep - spraycanmansam | Beam Team Games

Hi everyone,

A new stable build 0.28.00 has just been released!

IMPORTANT: There are notes below covering the new save game location and instructions for copying over your previous save data. Please follow these instructions if you wish to preserve your old save game.

This build transitions our latest work on the experimental branch to the stable branch.
If you haven’t been following the progress of our experimental branch, here’s some of the new features included:
New Mining System, New Roofing System, New Clay and Rock minable resources and Pick tool, New Brick building tier, New Furnace and Brick stations and more!

We’ve covered the new features in the patch notes below and you can also read more on the new features in our previous experimental patch notes here:
New Clay resource, Brick building tier, Furnace and Brick station
New Roofing system
New Mining system and Minable resources

We had been receiving emails about players not having user permissions to write world or map data. There were a few possible causes for the error, but the most common seemed to be when the game was installed in the Program Files folder and the user account didn’t have sufficient privileges or security settings. So from this stable build on we’ve changed the location of the game’s save data. You will need to do a simple copy-paste to move your old save folder to the new location. A quick guide can be found here ---
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=892983896
This also allows players with multiple users (brothers, sisters, friends, etc) to have their own unique save game data if they have their own user account on the PC.

Also a small note for Mac users: In testing we have noticed that the game needs to be launched from the Steam app or a desktop shortcut created by Steam. If the game is run directly from the .app file, Steam fails to register as initialised and you will see an error message in the game.

Have fun!
