Work together with your fellow players to unlock new rewards during the Bounties of Blackwood in-game event.
Explore Blackwood, Unlock Rewards!
The Bounties of Blackwood in-game event kicks off this Thursday, September 30 at 10:00AM EDT, and it runs until Tuesday, October 12 at 10:00AM EDT. During the event period, you and your fellow ESO players can work together to unlock incredible new rewards by earning the Blackwood Pathfinder achievement.
To do so, simply visit the six unique striking locales in the zone, and every day, we’ll update the meter found on the Bounties of Blackwood page with the community’s ongoing progress. Once the meter reaches 100% or the event ends, we’ll add the unlocked rewards to the Crown Store (in a single bundle) for ALLBlackwood owners to claim. These rewards can include:
The Pellucid Swamp Jelly pet, unlocked at 33%
The Shadows of Blackwood markings, unlocked at 66%
A cascading bounty box, unlocked at 100%
With a chance to include items such as Undaunted Plunder, rare materials, or item sets, and guaranteed to include attunable crafting stations and a unique Ogrim target dummy
You’ll have to wait until the Gates of Oblivion Year-End Stream to learn about the fourth and final prize, but trust us, it’s amazing, and well worth risking the dangerous wilds of Blackwood—so get exploring!
We’ll first update the meter on the Bounties of Blackwood page on the 30th to include everybody who has already earned the Blackwood Pathfinder achievement, so don’t worry if you already have it—you’ve helped. We’re adding progress to the meter for each time the achievement is earned for each character, not account, so even if you’re already earned it before, you can always earn it again with a different adventurer.
Celebrate Blackwood
In addition to the community challenge, you can also earn bonus rewards during this event while adventuring in the Blackwood zone. To get started, pick up the Bounties of Blackwood introductory quest from the in-game Crown Store or Impresario tent.

Continue your Gates of Oblivion adventure with the Waking Flame dungeon DLC and Update 31 base-game patch.
The Elder Scrolls Online:Waking Flame DLC game pack is now live on PC/Mac and Stadia, and it challenges players with two new dungeons, each with their own unique Gates of Oblivion stories. If you play on console, don’t fret—Waking Flame arrives on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on September 8.
This release also includes the free Update 31 base-game patch, which provides all ESO players with a series of additions and improvements to the game.

Waking Flame DLC Game Pack
Uncover evils in The Elder Scrolls Online: Waking Flame with two amazing new dungeons: Red Petal Bastion and the Dread Cellar. While both PvE challenges explore unique stand-alone stories, they also expand upon the year-long Gates of Oblivion adventure and set up the events of the upcoming Deadlands DLC (arriving later in 2021).
Red Petal Bastion
For centuries, the noble Knights of the Silver Rose had protected the people from Tamriel from the forces of Oblivion, but recently, the order has begun indiscriminately looting nearby shrines to collect holy relics, which they add to their fortress, the Red Petal Bastion.
A devotee of Azura needs your help to confront this once-noble order, reclaim his stolen artifacts, and discover the secret behind the order’s sudden and violent turn.
The Dread Cellar
Whispered to be one of the Empire’s most-feared prisons, the Dread Cellar, long thought abandoned, has begun emanating mysterious magical energies. Now home to the cultists of the Waking Flame and their Daedric minions, this once-feared site holds new evils for any would-be adventurers.
A pair of Imperial Battlemages needs your assistance in their investigation of the prison’s activity, but what role does the Dread Cellar’s own past have in the cultists’ fiendish plans? And to what lengths might the Battlespire go to protect the Empire’s secrets?
Both dungeons are filled with a host of challenging boss battles to overcome and mysteries to uncover, and both are available in Normal, Veteran, and Hard Mode difficulties for groups seeking difficult opposition. Finally, each dungeon also holds a series unique item sets, Achievements, and collectibles for you to loot and earn, ensuring the rewards are equal to the risks—good luck!
Getting Started
You canaccess The Elder Scrolls Online:Waking Flame DLC game pack via ESO Plus membership or purchase it for 1,500 crowns from the in-game Crown Store (listed under DLC). Note that if your ESO Plus membership lapses, you will lose access to the DLC until you renew your membership or purchase it with crowns, but you won’t lose any items, Achievements, or other rewards you earned while you had access.
The Waking Flame Collector’s Bundle is also available for 4,000 crowns and includes access to the DLC game pack, the Silver Rose Senche-Serval mount, the Ironclad Senche-Serval Kitten pet, and five Crown Experience Scrolls. You can purchase the Collector’s Bundle from the Featured section of the in-game Crown Store. With access to the Waking Flame DLC, you can continue your Gates of Oblivion adventure by the following methods:
By teleporting directly into the two dungeons from your map
By using the Dungeon Finder tool
By walking up to the dungeon entrances within Blackwood (Dread Cellar) and within Glenumbra (Red Petal Bastion)
Finally, simply by entering either of these two new dungeons, you’ll receive the Scorion Pyreling pet!
Update 31
In addition to Waking Flame, the Update 31 base-game patch will arrive in tandem with the DLC as a free update for all ESO players. This update includes assorted bug fixes, balance changes, performance improvements, and a series of quality-of-life additions.
This includes the ability to toggle between HDR modes on consoles in your Settings menu, the addition of Dynamic Resolution Scaling (creating a more responsive framerate experience and providing generally higher resolutions when running in Performance Mode on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5), a beta for Multithreaded Rendering on PC (potentially improving framerates), and a Reply function for your in-game mail. In addition to this, an assortment of new houses, furnishings, and houseguests will arrive in in-game Crown store in the coming months.
