The Season of the Dragon saga reaches its epic conclusion with Dragonhold, The Elder Scrolls Online’s latest DLC story zone. Learn about this new adventure and all the changes coming with Update 24 in this preview article!
The Dragonhold DLC game pack provides a new zone to explore, a new main questline to complete, new mechanics and challenges to experience, and more. Update 24 is a free game update that arrives alongside the DLC and includes the first wave of our announced performance improvements, Twitch Drops for consoles, and additional fixes and balance changes.
A Land in Ruins
The ancient Khajiiti kingdom known as Pellitine lies in shambles. Devastated by a terrible plague and its purging fire decades ago, Southern Elsweyr devolved into a lawless region beset by slavers, pirates, and brigands. As refugees from the surrounding land slowly make their way to the zone’s capital of Senchal, the city’s few remaining defenders muster for their last stand against the chaos.
However, worse things threaten the people of Pellitine. The Dragons, free from the Halls of Colossus, have brought their rage south. Bolstered by a cult of worshipers known as the Order of the New Moon, they devastate the region and continue their secret schemes.
All manner of rogues thrive in the ruined kingdom
These challenges and more await those willing to venture into the scorched confines of Southern Elsweyr. Consisting of three unique biomes (including scorched-but-recovering wilds, old-growth forests, and tropical grasslands) and packed with new delves, world bosses, quests, and Dragon hunts, this new zone contains plenty to keep you engaged.
The odds are stacked against you, but rest assured, the benefits gained by exploring Southern Elsweyr make it all worth it. The Dragonhold DLC boasts more rewards than any previous DLC story zone, including new titles (such as the much-requested “Pirate” title), tons of new collectibles (including a mix of costumes, mementos, and outfit styles), item sets, and more. Pellitine might be in ruins, but untold riches await those who know where to look!
Restore the Dragonguard
In the Dragonhold main questline, you work with fan-favorite character Sai Sahan (returning for this storyline) to gather a rag-tag group of pirates and adventurers and restore the ancient order known as the Dragonguard. Once thought lost to history, this ancient organization of Dragon hunters must return to aid the Khajiit of Elsweyr against the Dragon threat.
Face the Dragon threat with new and returning allies
The Redguard swordmaster is not your only companion in this endeavor, however. When you start the zone’s main story, a powerful and famous ally from Elder Scrolls lore joins you. No spoilers, sorry! Together, you and your new allies must seek out the secrets of the lost Dragonguard order and fight against the machinations of the mighty Dragon Laatvulon and his New Moon cultists.
The Season of the Dragon Finale
Dragonhold also brings the year-long Season of the Dragon saga to its epic conclusion. Starting with the Wrathstone DLC and continuing with the Elsweyr Chapter and Scalebreaker DLC, the story that began at the start of the year reaches its climax in this final 2019 DLC.
In addition to its typical main-story quest content, Dragonhold features bonus quests that let you and your allies put an end to the machinations of the Dragon Kaalgrontiid (from the Elsweyr Chapter main story). You delayed the terrible Dragon’s plans in Elsweyr. Now, in Southern Elsweyr, his schemes must be stopped for good before he can gain the power of the gods!
Kaalgrontiid returns in fury
To unlock the Season of the Dragon finale quests, you must complete both the Elsweyr and Dragonhold main story questlines. You don’t have to complete the stories from this year’s two Dungeon DLCs, but you should if you want to see the whole picture!
Update 24’s Base-Game Improvements
In addition to the new DLC game pack, we are also launching a massive base-game patch, free to all players, that features the first wave of the previously announced performance improvements. This first batch of changes includes a memory management overhaul, the first phase of combat ability performance improvements, and a complete redesign of the Looking for Group system.
These changes will reduce the amount of crashes/dashboarding, improve combat responsiveness, and improve the reliability and speed of the Group Finder. We know that the ESO community has long requested a performance update, so we are thrilled to launch the first part of what will be a massive, year-long series of improvements with Update 24!
Twitch Drops for Consoles
Update 24 also features the introduction of Twitch Drops for console players, allowing you to earn Twitch Drops for your Xbox One or PlayStation®4 account simply by watching Drop-enabled ESO streams! Note that while this addition is scheduled for Q4 2019, it might not be immediately available upon U24 console launch, so stay tuned for announcements in the future!
Soon, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One players will be able to receive Twitch Drops!
Your Adventure Ends … for Now!

Continue your Season of the Dragon adventure with Scalebreaker, a new dungeon DLC pack for The Elder Scrolls Online. Discover two new stories that tie into the events of ESO: Elsweyr and the free Update 23 base-game patch.
The Scalebreaker DLC dungeon pack and Update 23 bring exciting new adventures and improvements to ESO:
Two new Season of the Dragon dungeons: Lair of Maarselok and Moongrave Fane
The Scalebreaker DLC game pack brings two new Season of the Dragon dungeons, expanding upon the events of both Wrathstone and Elsweyr. The Dragons are free from the Halls of Colossus, and now you must deal with the fallout of their release. While these stories are part of the year-long saga, you can enjoy both without having completed either of the year’s earlier content—enjoy!
Lair of Maarselok For centuries, Maarselok slept deep in the mountains between Elsweyr and Grahtwood. However, upon the opening of the Halls of Colossus, this monstrous Dragon has awoken, and now threatens to spread his corruption into the domain of the Wood Elves. Only with the help of the Warlock Carindon and the forest spirit Selene can you defeat this terrifying new Dragon!
Hunt the great Dragon Maarselok!
Moongrave Fane Hidden within a fallen Khajiiti temple, the vampires of the Hollowfang prepare to perform a terrible ritual. Joined by the former Dragonguard Grundwulf, they wish to drain the blood from a captured Dragon! You and your team must fight your way into the fallen ruin and put a stop to their plan before it’s too late.
Both dungeons can be attempted in Normal and Veteran difficulties, with a Veteran Hard Mode option available for those looking for a challenge. Brave delvers can discover new rewards up for grabs in both dungeons, too, including new item sets, Achievements, collectibles, and more.
Finally, you can also earn a unique tablet collectible by completing both dungeons (on Normal or Veteran difficulty), allowing you to unlock an additional wing within the Hall of the Lunar Champion home.
Expand your mansion!
Don’t forget, you can unlock the free Hall of the Lunar Champion home by completing the Elsweyr Chapter’s main story quest titled “Two Queens.” The third and final tablet required to completely unlock the mansion will be available with the upcoming Dragonhold DLC—stay tuned!
The Scalebreaker DLC game pack is free for all ESO Plus members and available for purchase for 1,500 crowns from the in-game Crown Store (listed under DLC).
Note that if your ESO Plus membership lapses, you will lose access to the DLC dungeons until you renew or purchase the DLC with crowns. You won’t lose any items or rewards you earned while you had access.
Scalebreaker Collector’s Bundle The Scalebreaker Collector’s Bundle is also available for 4,000 crowns. This includes access to the DLC game pack, the Ancient Dragon Hunter Horse mount, the Ancient Dragon Hunter Wolf pet, and five Crown Experience Scrolls. You can find and purchase the Scalebreaker Collector’s Bundle from the Featured section of the in-game Crown Store.

The Dread-Aurelian Mask
To get the accompanying shoulders, you need to complete both dungeons on Veteran difficulty—good luck!
Update 23 Quality-of-Life Improvements
In addition to the DLC game pack, we’ve also launched Update 23, a free base-game patch for all ESO players. This update brings a host of fixes, ability changes, and improvements to some of the game’s core elements, including crafting, Guild Traders, and the Undaunted.
Undaunted Keys and Merchants With Update 23, Undaunted Keys are now a currency and are no longer stored within your inventory, making them easier to manage. In addition to this, you can now trade your Undaunted Keys to the three Undaunted dungeon quest givers to receive reward coffers. If you choose, you can spend more keys on specific coffers that give you a better chance at receiving the monster shoulders you want.
Multi-Crafting This update also implements an improvement to the crafting system, allowing you to craft, deconstruct, extract, and refine multiple items at once. You no longer have to perform these actions individually, dramatically speeding up the process.
Guild Trader Multi-Bidding Finally, Update 23 also introduces multi-bidding for Guild Trader locations. Guild Leaders can now bid on more than one trader each week. This change reduces the chance of missing a Guild Trader location each week and allows you to assign priority to the different locations based on how much you bid on each one. Don’t worry, when you win a location, all other bids are refunded.
You can find more information on all of these new quality-of-life improvements in our preview article.

Including Jewelry seams, but not including nodes spawned from Survey Reports
Double the rewards received from chests in Maelstrom Arena for both Veteran and Normal difficulties
Including Transmute Crystals and Maelstrom weapons!
Double the number of reward boxes received by completing Wrothgar's daily quest
We’ve also added some new rewards exclusive to this event: Maelstrom Weapon Outfit Styles and Orsinium Furnishings.
Maelstrom Weapon Outfit Styles Throughout the event, when you complete a run through the Maelstrom Arena, you have a chance to receive a Maelstrom Weapon Outfit Style page. Should you complete the arena on Veteran difficulty, you are guaranteed a page! If you haven’t yet conquered ESO’s toughest solo challenge, consider this, in addition to the double Malestrom weapon rewards, the perfect opportunity to finally give it a go!
The Maelstrom Weapon Style in action!
When earned by completing the arena, the pages can be traded or sold, but the Impresario also stocks account-bound pages for five Event Tickets each, too.
Orsinium Furnishings For this event only, a select group of Orc-themed Furnishings (note: not recipes) are available at the Impresario, with prices varying between one or two Event Tickets each.
Get Event Tickets
The Orsinium Celebration Event also provides you with an opportunity to earn Event Tickets. During the event, you can earn Event Tickets for the following activities:
Two Event Tickets per day for completing any Wrothgar Delve Daily
OR
Two Event Tickets per day for completing any Wrothgar World Boss Daily
Note that you can earn only two tickets per day, meaning how you earn both tickets is up to you! You can earn up to 24 total tickets during this event.
This event is also your first opportunity to earn the Onyx Berries of Bloom by purchasing them from the Impresario for 10 tickets. These berries, when combined with the three berries from the other Q3 events (some yet to be announced), eventually allow you to evolve your Nascent Indrik into the mysterious Onyx Indrik.
Earn the next set of berries needed to unlock this mount!
As usual, the Impresario continues to allow you to purchase all four Indrik Feathers for 10 Event Tickets each in addition to the last event’s berries (Onyx Berries of Budding), and Event Tickets are also available for purchase from the in-game Crown Store.
Return to the Home of the Orcs
With the Orsinium Celebration Event, now is the perfect time to once again venture into the realm of Wrothgar and the ancestral home of the Orcs. Don’t forget, if you’ve yet to experience this fan-favorite zone and storyline, you can enjoy great deals on the Orsinium DLC game pack and the Collector’s Bundle (ESO Plus members only) in the Crown Store, too!
