Earn bonus rewards, get double XP, and celebrate the end of the year in style during the New Life Festival. Learn about all the quests, collectibles, Achievements, and more you can enjoy during this end-of-year event!

The Festival Returns
The New Life Festival begins this Thursday, December 13, at 10:00AM EST and will run until Wednesday, January 2, at 10:00AM EST. If you’d like to take part in the festivities, pick up the New Life Festival Scroll from the in-game Crown Store and use it to find the New Life Herald, Breda, located south of Windhelm, Eastmarch.

Share a mead with Breda, the New Life Herald

Complete the initial quest titled “The New Life Festival” to unlock a host of New Life-themed and festive daily quests (nine in total) that have you bring cheer to every corner of Tamriel. Once you’ve completed your first New Life Festival quest, you’ll also have unlocked the Breda’s Bottomless Mead Mug collectible, which, in addition to greatly improving the mirth of those who imbibe, provides a two-hour, 100% boost to XP gains during the event period. This boon will stack with any other XP bonuses your character currently has, including those from XP scrolls or ESO Plus membership.

Receive Gift Boxes
By taking part in the New Life Festival and completing the Herald’s quests, you’ll earn New Life Festival Gift Boxes. These celebratory containers house random items, including crafting materials, consumables, and style items. If you’re fortunate, you might also receive one of these rarer rewards, too:
  • Skinchanger Motif chapters
  • New Life recipes
  • New Life collectibles (packaged in Runeboxes and tradeable):
    • Sword-Swallower's Blade memento
    • Juggler's Knives memento
    • Fire-Breather's Torches memento
    • Mud Ball Pouch memento
    • Nordic Bather's Towel costume
    • Colovian Filigreed Hood hat
    • Colovian Fur Hood hat
  • A selection of lights, lamps, and lanterns for your home to celebrate the Signal Fire Sprint
  • Draughts of Stealth and Escape to celebrate the Trial of Five-Clawed Guile
New Life Charity Writs

In addition to the above rewards, New Life Festival Gift Boxes can now also include New Life Charity Writs! These new, event-exclusive writs task you with creating simple furnishing items to donate in the spirit of the season. Once you’ve completed one of these new writs, you can turn it into any writ return location for its item type. If you don’t have the recipe required to craft the writ, visit the relevant crafting vendor to pick it up.

Of course, performing this good deed is its own reward, but in addition to a philanthropic sense of satisfaction, if you complete 12 Charity Writs on a single character, you’ll unlock the “Newly Charitable” Achievement, granting you the incredible Crystalfrost skin!

The Crystalfrost skin

Bring New Life to your Home
Starting December 13, you can turn your house into a festive holiday home with exclusive furnishing items from Heralda Garscroft, the Holiday Achievement Furnisher. You can find her in Grahtwood, Stormhaven, and Deshaan. Here’s how you can unlock these uniquely merry furnishings:
  • The New Life Bonfire – Available for 10,000 gold once you complete the “Snow Bare Plunge" achievement
  • The New Life Celebrant's Standard – Available for 2,500 gold once you complete the “New Life Celebrant" achievement
Check the Achievement section of your Journal to review progress.

Get Your Final Indrik Feather & Bonus Sweepstake Entry
During the event, you can also earn Event Tickets and purchase the final Indrik Feather required to unlock the Nascent Indrik mount (along with a #OurElderScrolls Sweepstakes bonus entry). This event’s feather is called the Opaline Indrik Feather.

To earn Event Tickets during this event, simply complete one of the nine New Life Festival daily quests. In addition to the New Life Festival Gift Box, you’ll receive one Event Ticket. Note that you can earn only one ticket per day per account, and they’ll reset at 1:00AM EST each morning.

Get the last Indrik Feather to unlock this beautiful mount

Once you have acquired 10 Event Tickets, you can trade them in to the Impresario (located at a special booth in Daggerfall in Glenumbra, Davon's Watch in Stonefalls, and Vulkhel Guard in Auridon) for the Opaline Indrik Feather. You can acquire 20 Event Tickets during this event, and the Impresario will continue to sell all previous Feathers throughout, meaning if you’ve missed some, you have a chance to catch up during the New Life Festival! For more information on acquiring the Nascent Indrik mount, check out our announcement article.

As with previous events, you can earn bonus entries into the #OurElderScrolls Sweepstakes by acquiring Indrik Feathers. For your chance to win amazing prizes, including a Grand Prize trip to BE3 2019, make sure you’ve entered by filling out this form. For more information and official rules, visit the #OurElderScrolls page.

Finally, in addition to your Event Ticket, when you turn in your first New Life Festival daily quest, you will also receive a Mysterious Reward Box. Originally part of the earlier Undaunted Celebration, these boxes have a chance to include rare styles and collectibles.

Seasonal Crown Store Items
Throughout the event period, you can also acquire some merry seasonal items from the in-game Crown Store, including the beloved Garland Dapple Gray mount, the Winter Broadbrim Hat Pack, Sun’s Dusk Winter Hood, and Winter Scout’s Pack. These returning items are now on sale and can only be found in the Crown Store for a limited time.

Don’t forget, you can now acquire the Enchanted Snow Globe Home, too. The entrance to this magical, wintery home can actually be found within the New Life tent, so don’t hesitate to check it out for yourself.

In the spirit of the holiday season, you will receive an in-game pet as a gift from us when you use the Crown Store Gifting system to bring joy to others.

Has your guildie or friend had their eye on a fancy pet or mount? Perhaps you want to help a new player get off to a fast start with some XP Scrolls? During the month of December, we’re rewarding everybody who loves to gift their fellow players Crown Store items with a brand-new pet!

This holiday season, when you gift 1000 Crowns or more worth of items to two or more different Elder Scrolls Online players, we’ll send you an adorable Snowcap Fledgling Gryphon pet!

Here’s everything you need to know:

  • Gifting must occur between 2:00 AM EST on December 1, 2018 and 2:00AM EST on January 1, 2019
  • You must send a gift to at least two different individual accounts
  • The total value of all gifts must be at least 1000 Crowns or more on the same platform and region
    • Note: NOT 1000 Crowns per gift, but 1000 Crowns total. Two individual gifts that are valued at 500 Crowns each would count, as would three gifts each valued at 400 Crowns. However, if you sent a gift worth 500 Crowns on the PC NA server and another worth 500 Crowns on the Xbox One NA server, it would not count.
  • You will receive your Snowcap Fledgling Gryphon pet after the promotion’s end by January 4, 2019.

How to Gift
To send your friend a gift, navigate to the item you wish to buy in the Crown Store and select the “Purchase as Gift" option, then enter their UserID, Gamertag, or PSN ID, depending on your platform. You can then personalize your gift with a custom-made or a pre-selected message. Note that homes cannot be gifted.

Gift consumables, collectibles, and more!

You can view all the currently available items, including pets, mounts, costumes, and more on our Crown Store page, and you can stock up on Crowns on our Buy Crowns page.

Explore a New Zone
In this new zone, you can venture into the heart of Black Marsh to learn about the native Argonian people, their culture, and their history. Discover the native tribes of Murkmire

Recover a Piece of Murkmire’s History
In Murkmire’s story questline, you shall work to investigate the long-forgotten past of this remote and unforgiving land and help an Imperial scholar search for an ancient and powerful Argonian relic. Ready your supplies and prepare to embark into a world secluded from Tamriel for centuries. You might even discover the hidden history of the Argonians themselves.

Face Blackrose Prison
If you’re looking for a fight, you and your companions will be challenged by Murkmire’s new four-player Arena, Blackrose Prison. In this former prison colony, you must face waves of monstrous beasts and Blackguard warriors in vicious combat. Be sure to make use of the new Sigils to survive, because should you claim victory, you’ll earn powerful new Blackrose weapons not found anywhere else in Tamriel!

As you explore, quest, and battle your way through the deep swamp, you’ll be rewarded with three new zone sets and unique, Murkmire-themed collectibles. Finally, this new zone also introduces the new Dead-Water motif style, acquired by completing daily quests – so get exploring!

Update 20
Arriving alongside the new DLC game pack is the free Update 20 base-game patch. This update has a host of improvements, fixes, and changes to ESO’s core experience, but it also introduces a series of new and exciting features that can be enjoyed by all ESO players.

Bring Ruin to Cyrodiil
With Update 20, Cyrodiil is getting even more deadly with the introduction of destructible bridges and Milegates. Now, you’re able to bring down any of the bridges and Milegates in Cyrodiil using ballistae, catapults, and trebuchets. Don’t worry, you can repair them if you wish, but we’ve also introduced a series of new goat paths around these chokepoints, giving you another way to enter enemy territory. This update also changes the shape of Cyrodiil by introducing a series of new Outposts AND offers brand new rewards, too.

Bring Cyrodiil crumbling down

New Housing Editor Tools

During this spoopy event, you can enjoy a 100% XP buff, become an undead monster, and acquire a creepy collection of Witches Festival-themed items. 2. Complete the quest “The Witchmother's Bargain" to receive the “Witchmother's Whistle" memento.
    1. If you completed the quest in previous events, you don’t need to acquire the Crow Caller or complete the quest again, and you can use the whistle already found in your Collections menu.
  3. Use the whistle to summon the “Witchmother's Cauldron" and grant you and your party a two-hour 100% XP buff that stacks with all other XP bonuses.
  4. Use the Witchmother's Cauldron to transform your character into one of the undead. Don't worry—this isn't permanent!
    1. Note that you do not have to use the Witchmother's Cauldron in order to gain the XP buff.

Acquire Ghoulish Goodies
Should you take part in this year’s festivities take on some of Tamriel’s most fearsome monsters, you can earn some amazing Witches Festival-themed loot. Throughout the event, all boss monsters will drop Plunder Skull containers. Note that you don’t need to have the XP buff or polymorph active to acquire these unique rewards, but it can’t hurt!

Plunder Skull containers have a chance to contain the following spooky items:
  • Hollowjack Motif Pages or Books

These devilish new rewards will be the first Plunder Skull drop you receive for each type of boss each day. A Dremora Plunder Skull contains all the same items found in a regular Plunder Skull, but it is also guaranteed to have a new Dremora Motif page based on the type of boss you defeated.
