The Elder Scrolls® Online

Packing two new dungeons, a new Battlegrounds map and game mode, and a number of quality of life improvements, The Elder Scrolls Online's latest slice of DLC—the minotaur-themed Horns of the Reach—is due in August. If you can't wait that long, it lands on the PTS this week.

Dungeon-wise, TESO's Horns of the Reach adds both Bloodroot Forge and Falkreath Hold: the former of which is a Daedric prince-founded, lava-filled crypt; the latter of which marks "a township under siege that will soon fall to the marauding hordes of Domihaus the Bloody-Horned." Both are available in normal and veteran modes and, as you might expect, contain goodies by way of unique armour sets, monster sets and achievements.

Alongside the as yet pricetag-less expansion, TESO's Update 15 brings with it a host of quality of life improvements—not least the ability to cancel research projects halfway through completion, Guild Invite History, and a currency system update that lets players deposit Alliance Points and Writ Vouchers.

On the PvP front, Update 15 adds to the game's 4v4v4 mode with the new Arcane University map. Here, players take to the college in the Imperial City in bouts filled with "heavy indoor fighting", teleport machines and high platforms that "force you to watch your feet at all times." A new capture-the-flag-like game type called Chaosball also makes its way to the realm next month, however it's worth noting that while players don't need the Imperical City DLC to access the above, they do need the recent Morrowind expansion.

Again, Horns of the Reach is due at some stage next month, and enters the PTS later this week. More information can be found over here

Horns of the Reach

Horns of the Reach, the minotaur-themed DLC pack for The Elder Scrolls Online [official site], will be coming out next month, Bethesda have announced. The DLC will add two dungeons to the MMO as well as new items, enemies and companions. There’s no word on pricing, yet just that it will be free to ESO Plus members and that it will be available on the in-game crown store. … [visit site to read more]

Horns of the Reach, The Elder Scrolls Online's latest DLC game pack, will be available in the in-game Crown Store and as part of ESO Plus membership this August. The DLC game pack will include two new dungeons, Bloodroot Forge and Falkreath Hold, as well as a base game update that features a new Battlegrounds map and game type and a host of quality-of-life improvements. Want to know more about the DLC game pack and update? Check out our preview below!

THE THREAT IN THE REACH
Horns of the Reach features two brand-new dungeons for you and three companions to explore and conquer as a group.

The first of these new activities is Bloodroot Forge, an ancient, long-forgotten forge that was recently rediscovered by the Reachmen and their minotaur allies. This forge, rumored to have been created by the Daedric prince Hircine, can create weapons of unbelievable power. When exploring this new dungeon, you will navigate through heavy vegetation and deep, lava-filled corridors to reach the heart of the forge and put a stop to Gherig Crowblood's pans.

The second dungeon is Falkreath Hold, a township under siege that will soon fall to the marauding hordes of Domihaus the Bloody-Horned. You and your companions must break the siege, move into the town and Jarl's Hall, and defeat the monstrous warlord himself.

As you take on these new dungeons, a host of new and familiar enemies will stand in your way, including Reachmen, minotaurs, and even bizarre Nirnblooded creatures. Of course, you will have to take on challenging bosses in the form of deadly monsters, cunning sorcerers, and fierce warlords.

These new dungeons will be available in both normal and veteran modes (including veteran Hard Mode for the last boss) and they will feature new rewards in the form of unique item sets, monster sets, and achievements.

NEW PVP ACTION
As part of Update 15, there are some additions to the game's 4v4v4 game mode, too.

A new map called Arcane University will be introduced to the regular Battlegrounds rotation. This map, set in a college in the Imperial City (NOTE: you don't need the Imperial City DLC game pack to play), features heavy indoor fighting, tricky teleporters, and high platforms that force you to watch your feet at all times.

There will also be a new Battlegrounds game type titled Chaosball. In Chaosball, you must capture and hold onto the “ball" for as long as you can. The longer you hold onto the ball, the more points you earn. However, while controlling the ball, it'll also apply a healing and armor debuff and gradually deal damage to you and your entire party! Yikes! Like the other Battleground game types, Chaosball was designed to be fast-paced, frenetic fun.

Note that this new Battleground and game type is only available for players who own ESO: Morrowind.

BASE GAME UPDATE
Finally, Update 15 features host of quality-of-life improvements for everybody, including the ability to cancel a research project mid-way, Guild Invite History, and an update to the currency system that allows you to deposit Alliance Points and Writ Vouchers into your bank!

We're also adding customizable combat cues for ability and attack telegraphs. This will allow you to customize the colors displayed so that you can better identify attacks in game, making it easier for everybody to play and enjoy ESO.

There will also be the usual bug fixes and balance changes along with new homes and furnishings, so keep an eye out for future patch notes!

The Elder Scrolls® Online

ZeniMax has announced plans to draw players deeper into its Elder Scrolls Online MMO by offering a free trial of the ESO Plus membership program. From July 5-10, non-Plus players can gain full access to the in-game benefits it offers at no charge, while those who are already in the program can earn free Crown Crates just for showing up.

ESO Plus is the program that replaced conventional Elder Scrolls Online subscriptions in early 2015. For $15 per month, or slightly less if you pony up for three or six months at a time, you get unlimited access to all DLC packs (Imperial City, Orsinium, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Shadows of the Hist), unlimited crafting material storage, double the amount of furnishings and collectibles you can put in your home and double bank space, a ten percent boost to experience and gold, 1500 Crowns (that's the in-game currency) per month, and the "exclusive ability to dye costumes." That's a big one, no doubt.

The ESO Plus promo event will begin at 10 am ET on July 5, and come to an end at 11:59 pm on July 9. To give it a shot, log into the game, head to the Crown Store, and select "ESO Plus Free Trial" in the featured category.  During that same period, current ESO Plus subscribers will earn one free Crown Crate for each day that they connect to the game. The free crates will be awarded on July 17.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind is now live on Steam! Read a note from Game Director Matt Firor and check out the ESO: Morrowind Launch Trailer linked below!

Greetings!

With the launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, we're thrilled to finally bring a new Chapter to ESO - one that takes players back to Vvardenfell, the ancestral home of the Dark Elves. Players last saw Vvardenfell as the setting for The Elder Scrolls III: Morowind, back in 2002, and we're very happy to finally give everyone the opportunity to return to the iconic island.

Of course, this new Chapter in The Elder Scrolls Online saga brings more than just a new, open world to explore. With ESO: Morrowind, we are introducing the Warden (the game's first brand-new class since launch), a brand new PvP game mode with Battlegrounds, and a new, challenging Trial with the Halls of Fabrication. As I have said many times, ESO is designed to give players the freedom to play the way that they want to play. We began building this experience by removing the barriers to exploration in the One Tamriel update last year, and we've further built upon that concept in ESO: Morrowind, which features PvE, PvP, and even solo-focused content.

I especially want to thank all the fans, new and old, who have helped us along the way. Without your support, feedback, and, yes, criticism, the game would not be where it is today. I'm always humbled by your passion and love of our game, and we mean it when we say that we believe that this community is one of the best in gaming. Of special note are those who participated in the ESO: Morrowind beta on our Public Test Server – a lot of great improvements were made thanks to your input.

Over the next few months, we will continue to work to improve the game while providing a full suite of new content, quality of life and balance updates and DLC game packs. Keep an eye out for more details in the future – E3 is coming up fast! The world of Tamriel is only going to get bigger.

Until then, see you in Vvardenfell!

Matt
