Robocraft - leftofnever
NEW:
  • Tech Tree - a new progression path for players in Robocraft. Unlocking parts with Tech Points, earned through levelling up, grants players access to parts that can then be forged and placed on Robots. For more information on the Tech Tree, read our FAQ.
  • Tech Points - Tech Points are used to unlock parts on the Tech Tree. Players will receive 1x Tech Point for each level up to and including level 343 as this is the amount of Tech Points required to unlock everything on the Tech Tree.
  • Robit rewards for battle - Players will now receive Robit rewards for completing battles; this is proportional to their performance in battle. Perform well and you'll receive more Robits.
  • All salvage reward crates have now been removed from Robocraft. Players will no longer see, receive or are able to purchase any Salvage Reward crates in Robocraft. These have been replaced by Robit rewards for battle performance, Tech Points and Daily Quests.
OTHER CHANGES:
  • Faster player levelling - In order to reduce player grind, we have increased the speed at which players up to level 375 level up. Depending on XP earned in battle, players level 1-10 will earn a level-up every 1-2 games. For players up to level 375, and depending on XP earned in battle, you’ll level-up every 3 games. For players above level 375 and above, you’ll level-up every 10 games. Again, these numbers are dependent on XP earned in battle.
  • Changes to the starter inventory for new players - A basic inventory of Robot Mech Leg Spartans and Laser Wasp Weapons are awarded to new players to enable them to start building quickly.
  • Community Robot Factory (CRF) improvements - 'All Robots' regardless of parts unlocked on the Tech Tree will now be seen by all players on the CRF. Robots that a player can use, as they have the required parts unlocked on the Tech Tree, are differentiated by colour from those that cannot be used. Players can also chose to hide Robots that cannot use via a checkbox on the left-side of the CRF screen. This checkbox is turned on by default; uncheck it to see all Robots.
  • 1024 x 768 minimum resolution supported - Players at 800 x 600 resolution can still play at this resolution, but may experience a reduction in game quality.
  • Performance improvements to Earth maps containing trees
BALANCE CHANGES:
  • Scoring - The following changes have been made to the scoring system:
    • Healing score increased by 50%
    • Mining point capture score increased by 50%
    • Score in Play vs AI mode reduced by 30%
    • Scores in Battle Arena, League Arena, Team Deathmatch and Elimination modes increased by 30%

    • Cheetah: 3.6% down from 5%
  • Gyro Mortar - Energy consumption increased by 25%

    • Projectile speed reduced by 50%
    • Fire rate increased by 75%
    • Energy Consumption increased slightly

Robocraft - leftofnever

If you've been following Robocraft's development recently, you'll be aware that we're removing Salvage Crates from the game, introducing loads of cool new features and re-imagining some fan favourites too. In our next update, Phase 2, we will be removing the last remnants of Salvage Crates from the game, adding Robit rewards for battle performance, Tech Points and a Tech Tree with which to spend them on.

Many of you have asked how the Tech Tree will work, so here's a short FAQ to give you an insight.

What is the Tech Tree?
The Tech Tree is a new progression path for players in Robocraft. Unlocking parts with Tech Points grants you access to those parts that you'll then need to forge in order to put them on your Robots.

The Tech Tree

What are Tech Points?
Tech Points are used to unlock parts on the Tech Tree and you'll earn one Tech Point whenever you level-up.

The maximum number of Tech Points you can earn is 342 as this is the maximum number required to unlock all the parts on the Tech Tree. Once you've unlocked everything, you will no longer receive Tech Points when you level up. Please note that if you've unlocked everything and we add new parts to the Tech Tree, you'll start earning Tech Points until you've enough to once again unlock everything and at that point, you'll stop earning them.

How many Tech Points do parts cost?
Depending on their rarity, parts require a different amount of Tech Points to unlock
  • Uncommon Parts - 1 Tech Point to unlock
  • Rare Parts - 2 Tech Points to unlock
  • Epic Parts - 3 Tech Points to unlock
  • Legendary Parts - 5 Tech points to unlock
I'm an existing player with parts in my inventory will I lose them?
No, any parts you have currently in your inventory or on your Robots will be automatically unlocked when we roll out the update. Any parts you don't have will be locked on the tech tree, and you'll need to unlock them to be able to forge them.

Any parts you haven't unlocked will not be displayed on the Forge, Inventory, or Recycle screens.

Can I reset my account to lock the Tech Tree as I want to experience the unlock progression?
No, I'm afraid we don't offer account resets; if you want to experience the Tech Tree and the new progression, you will need to dismantle all your Robots and recycle all your inventory before the update launches. If you don't want to do that, you can create a new account and start from scratch.

I'm level 300 and have some parts unlocked in my inventory, will I get my missing Tech Points?
Yes! For example, if you're level 300 and you have parts unlocked which total up to 200 Tech Points, you'll have 100 Tech Points on your account when you first login after the update.

If you're level 400 and you've unlocked 100 Tech Points worth of parts prior to the update, you'll have 242 Tech Points on your account when you login after the update. This will allow you to unlock any remaining parts on the Tech Tree.

I have Tech Points to spend, can I unlock anything on the Tech Tree?
No, you can only unlock parts that are adjacent to any other part that has already been unlocked (see image below). We believe this form of progression is fairer and doesn't give players instant access to the rarest items. The Tech Tree will tell you which parts can be unlocked and which ones cannot.

How is player levelling going to work with the Tech Tree?
With the Tech Tree update we will be increasing the speed at which players up to level 375 level up as we want you all to enjoy all of the parts without a massive grind. Depending on XP earned in battle, players level 1-10 will earn a level-up every 1-2 games. For players up to level 375, and depending on XP earned in battle, you'll level-up every 3 games. For players above level 375 and above, you'll level-up every 10 games. Again, these numbers are dependant on XP earned in battle.

How can I speed up progress?
There are a number of different ways you can speed up your level progression:
  • Building and playing your own Robots in battle will give you more XP than downloading one from the Factory as they start at Mastery level 10 (Factory downloaded Robots start at level 1)
  • Playing League will reward you with bonus XP
  • Playing games in a party with friends will give you an XP bonus
  • Purchasing premium will give you 2x XP
  • BRAWLs will sometimes give additional XP when winning your first battle
I have a Carbon 6 Laser Leviathan but not a Laser Leviathan, will I lose access to the C6 variant as I don't have the regular version?
No, for existing players we will automatically unlock the required 'parent part' so you can continue using the cosmetic version.

Does the Tech Tree impact the Factory?
In a small way it does yes; and so we're making a few improvements to the Factory:
  • You'll be able to see all Robots once more
  • You can filter out Robots that contain parts you haven't unlocked on the Tech Tree
  • You can view but not download Robots that contain parts you haven't unlocked on the Tech Tree

Hey Robocrafters,
If you've been following the Robocraft news you'll know that earlier this week we outlined our plans for Phases 2 and 3 of the "No More Crates" series of updates which will see us completely remove crates from Robocraft, introduce the Tech Tree (Phase 2) and Tiers (Phase 3) into the game along with lots more awesome features and content.

As developers we want to be able to deliver more cool content and fabulous features to you faster, but as we're currently split between three very different versions of Robocraft (RC Steam/Launcher, RC Infinity on Xbox One and the F2P Robocraft Infinity in China (co-developed with Tencent)) it's incredibly difficult to deliver on that. So, we're proposing some big upgrades to the Steam version of Robocraft, making it more like the F2P Robocraft Infinity in China. Doing this will allow us to deliver more new features, improvements, bug fixes and content faster as we won’t be developing different things on different versions of Robocraft.

Here's a summary of the planned improvements and how they'll be great for Robocraft Steam. Please note that these improvements will also apply to the Robocraft Launcher version.
  • Infinity progression system integration - when you unlock a part on the tech tree you can place it an infinite number of times on as many Robots as you like
  • More colors to paint with - 8 for free players and 32 for those with Premium
  • Infinity CRF - Robots can be downloaded for free as long as you have unlocked all the parts required to build each Robot
  • With the infinity progression system, you'll need something to spend your Robits on and so we want to make changes to the Item Shop which will allow you to buy many cosmetics with Robits or Cosmetic Credits. Some cosmetics will remain CC exclusives but a majority of them will be forgeable with Robits
  • A new Main Menu with split screen showing your selected Robot on the right hand side
  • Dynamic User-Interface (UI) - visual improvements to the UI and it will handle higher resolutions much better
  • Hover-over tooltips
  • Improved crosshairs in battle
  • Improved lighting in environments
  • Controls can be changed via the Pause Menu - switch from keyboard to cam controls in battle!
  • Game checks you have functional parts on your Robot before you enter battle - No more accidentally going into battle without a weapon or movement part
  • Building shortcut hints for new users (can be disabled in Settings for vets)
  • Robot Voting system after battle, vote on who had best Robot (this feature needs improvement and we’d be happy to hear your suggestions on how we could do this)
  • Upgrade the game to a newer version of the Unity game engine
  • Network communication technology improvements
Please note that we will not be introducing everything that's different in the Robocraft Infinity China version into the Steam/Launcher version as we don't want to break player Robots and so the following will apply to the Steam version:
  • CPU costs of parts will remain the same with max 2000 CPU
  • Parts will remain the same as on Steam
  • Nominal counts of weapons will remain the same
  • Hit boxes of Hover and Thrusters etc. will remain the same
Thanks for reading and as always, please leave us your feedback. Nothing is set in stone and everything can be influenced by your feedback.

Hey Robocrafters,
We just wanted to give you an update on Robocraft, outlining our immediate plans for the game which will see us completely removing crates and introducing some fan-favourite features and new cool stuff into Robocraft. Read on for the full lowdown.

TL:DR We ARE 100% removing crates in our next Phase 2 update where we will also add the Tech Tree. Tiers will arrive in the later Phase 3 update along with some other great features.

No More Crates Phase 2: Tech Tree is coming back!
To recap quickly; our previous Phase 1 update on May 17th removed purchasable crates. From that day onwards there was no longer a way of spending money to buy crates or any Robot parts directly. Our next update, Phase 2, will see the 100% removal of all Loot Crates/Boxes from Robocraft for good and the re-introduction of the Tech Tree. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
  • 100% Loot Box/Crate removal
  • Tech Tree re-introduced with a new layout and some other enhancements
  • Tech Points re-introduced - when you Level Up you get a Tech Point with cool Special Effects for this
  • Robit battle rewards based on performance
The Phase 2 Update should™ take around 3 weeks to deliver to you. If the development Gods are looking kindly on us, we'll have Phase 2 released before the end of June. To whet your appetite, for Phase 2, here's a sneaky peek at the Tech Tree. Please note that this image is not final and may be subject to change.

No More Crates Phase 3: Tiers
In Phase 3 we will re-introduce Tiers to Robocraft along with other great features; some of them new, and some of them old. Here’s a list of what we have planned for Phase 3 so far:
  • 5 different Tiers - Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary
  • Robot Ranking returns - each part has Robot Rank and the combination of parts on your Robot will define its Tier
  • Higher rarity parts will typically have higher Robot Rank values
  • We'll remove Boosts from the game
  • 8 vs 8 Elimination returns as a permanent game mode as part of the mode roster
  • Game Mode selected at random when battle launches, with users able to ‘opt-out’ of modes they don't wish to play
  • A tiered reward system with higher Tiers giving greater XP and Robits
  • Ranking available in all Tiers, can you get to Protonium 5 star in all Tiers (it’ll be hardest in Legendary Tier)
  • Ranking system improvements so you can play for fun without losing your rank when you want to, and play hard to rank up when you want to
This may change as you give us feedback on this blog post so stay posted to the blog and we’ll update you if things change.

To finish, here's a Tech Point animated GIF courtesy of our incredibly talented art team.

Robocraft - leftofnever

If you've been following our social media and website updates, you'll be well aware that we're removing all forms of loot crates from Robocraft. We've always been clear that removing them from the game would be a massive undertaking and that it would take time; it isn't simply a case of just turning them off. In order to get the changes to you quicker, we said that we would be removing them in stages (or as we're calling them, phases).

Today we released Phase One, which saw the removal of purchasable crate bundles from the in-game store and daily login rewards. Alongside this we introduced Daily Quests, an exciting way to earn XP and Robits as well as a new Cosmetic Credits (CC) currency. Please note that end of battle reward crates and level up crates will remain until the introduction of Tiers.

The full patch notes are below:

NEW:
Cosmetic Credits - Cosmetic Credits can be used in the Forge to create cosmetic parts to make your Robots stand out from the crowd. Bundles of cosmetic credits can be purchased from the in-game shop or earned by recycling unwanted cosmetic items.

Cosmetic Credits are available to purchase from the in-game shop in bundles priced at:
  • 100 Credits - £1.19 / $1.49 / €1.49*
  • 500 Credits - £3.99 / $4.99 / €4.99*
  • 1,000 Credits - £7.99 / $8.99 / €8.99*
  • 2,000 Credits - £11.99 / $14.99 / €14.99*
*Your local currency will be displayed in the in-game shop

Forgeable Cosmetics - With the introduction of Cosmetic Credits, we have once again made it possible for players to forge their favourite cosmetic parts in Robocraft. Players use purchasable Cosmetic Credits to forge cosmetic items or a combination of Cosmetic Credits and Robits to forge Cosmetic weapon or movement part skins such as the Carbon 6 variant parts.

Daily Quests - Players can earn XP and Robits for completing daily quests.

With the removal of daily login crates, we have introduced a new way to earn XP and Robits in Robocraft with Daily Quests. Simply login daily to receive a new random quest; complete it to earn XP and Robits. You can have a maximum of 3 Quests active at anyone time and once per day you can reroll a quest you don't want. If you're a premium player, you'll earn 2x XP and 2x Robits from completing quests.

Please note that Daily Quest rewards can not be earned through playing Custom Games or Play vs AI mode.

Improved in-game menu navigation - We have updated the top navigation bar in Robocraft, giving it a cleaner look. As well as a cleaner menu, the top navigation screen now displays both your Robits and Cosmetic Credits balance as well as your player level and Premium time remaining.

OTHER CHANGES:
  • Removal of purchasable Salvage Crate bundles from the in-store shop - With this update it is no longer be possible to purchase Salvage Crate bundles from the in-game shop. Players who have unopened crates in their account will still be able to open them when logging in.
  • Removal of crate reward for tutorial completion
  • Removal of Daily Login crates
  • Cosmetic items will no longer drop in any Salvage Reward Crates
  • Robots built with cosmetics that have been uploaded to the CRF can be downloaded and constructed using Robits and Cosmetic Credits if the player does not own the necessary parts to construct the robot
  • Cosmetic Part Rarity Changes - We have changed the rarity of some parts to match cosmetic versions to the correct non-cosmetic versions:
    • Blade Insect Leg rarity change to Rare, was Epic
    • Bat Wings rarity changed to Rare, was Epic
    • Bat Rudders rarity changed to Rare, Was Epic
    • Spike Needle rarity changed to Rare, was Uncommon
    • Spike Pin rarity changed to Rare, was Uncommon
    • Eagle Mask rarity changed to Epic, was Uncommon
    • Single Vapor Trail rarity changed to Uncommon, was Rare
  • EAC SDK Updated
  • Texture optimisation to Headlamp part
BUG FIXES:
  • Fixed a bug which caused Tank Track audio not to play
  • Fixed a bug which prevented some players from uploading a robot to the CRF if they had previously reported one
  • Fixed a bug which caused the UI to be temporarily out of sync if a player pressed the ESC key while capturing a point in Battle Arena modes
  • Fixed a bug which caused the UI to be temporarily out of sync if a player reconnected to Battle Arena or League Arena modes
  • Fixed a bug which caused inconsistencies with the Core Capture/Defend icon animation in Battle Arena modes
  • Fixed a bug which prevented players from blinking through their own Disc Shield Module
  • Various translations corrections
  • Fixed a bug where a player reconnecting to a Custom Game would not have the set values for the game
