Our current focus is on porting the car designer over to the Unreal Engine 4 version of the game. So far, so good! We got most of the car designer now working in a very rough and still buggy way, but progress is reasonably quick.

Many have asked for better ways to present and take pictures of your cars, and we've always eyed adding proper picture scenes. Time has come to add this into the game and the LDU video shows this, among other things:
  • Car body selection
  • Detailed stats page
  • Other coming engine types
  • Various other info about the port
https://youtu.be/j0RdQBdO1gU
Have a look at the video for more info and a look at what's in the pipeline.
Still a long way to go with the port, but things are coming together nicely!
Cheers!

We've started into the New Year finishing up the port of the engine designer over to UE4 and are mostly done with this aspect now apart from a few quirks and bugs that need to be ironed out.

A day or two ago, focus shifted to the car designer and us porting over and piecing together its various components. While it is extremely rough and mostly non-functional at this very early stage, this Little Dev Update shows you where we are at with the car designer.

Also, the video shows you some more of what is in store when it comes to how car bodies are selected, paint colors, and fixtures. Have a look!

Cheers!

Another busy and successful year in the development of Automation is drawing to a close.

With the addition of engineering, factory, and market mechanics, the groundworks for the long awaited tycoon part were laid out this year, all leading up to the major milestone we hit around two months ago: the first playable version of the campaign mode in form of the Lite Campaign Mode V1 and later V2. During all of that time about half of the team (i.e. 2.5 people) spent working on the port of Automation to Unreal Engine 4, paving the way to the next big update including the full port to UE4 a few months down the line.

Work on the engine designer in the new UE4 version has progressed well and here we'd like to show you the latest additions and changes to the game:

In case you want to have a good laugh and/or flashback from days long gone after watching the latest LDU, I recommend checking out the following classic, showing the full extent of what Automation was back in early 2011:

We would like to thank you all for your continued support of Automation, without you none of this would have been possible.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A lot of progress is currently being made on getting the engine designer all functional with the new UI in the UE4 version of Automation.

In this Little Dev Update the focus lies mostly on the UI redesign:
  • Testing Page & General UI
  • Carbs & Other Stuff
  • Scenarios, Selection & Side Panel Function
Have a look at the latest development update video to see what we've been working on:

After a few small patches that made it into the game during the past three weeks, addressing some more of the most common issues you had with the game, we have moved on to fully focus our team efforts on the UE4 version of Automation.

Porting Automation to Unreal Engine 4 is no small undertaking and for that we have split up the finalization of the port into three milestones. The first (internal only) one is supposed to be done before christmas and is the foundation for all future progress as we completely rewrite how the game handles it data (almost done) and use SQL databases instead of slow lua tables in our old game engine. Another focus is to get the Engine Designer and its content for the next big update all up to speed.

To get a more complete picture of what we're working on, have a look at the latest Little Dev Update. Also stay in there for a little bit of an engine pr0n surprise. ;-P
