We’ve updated the Smoke Trails visual effect Test Features based on community feedback. The time the Smoke Trails effect appears on screen has been shortened in order to reduce their visual footprint during battle.
Test Features are available to try out in the Experimental queue and in Custom Lobbies with Test Features enabled.
This patch contains some minor adjustments to enable some underperforming weapons to better execute their gameplan, while also opening more avenues of approach or escape against key attacks on others.
Cannon
The Cannon Side Light setup location has been slightly lowered to leave the target slightly closer for more reliable follow-up attacks. We have also increased the Force of the Cannon Neutral Air to improve its knockout power, given its pivotal role as both a combo ender and a powerful anti-air. The Hit Window and final threat coverage of the Cannon Recovery has been slightly decreased to open a greater window to evade or contest this attack as the swing finishes.
Cannon Side Light: Setup location is now slightly lower.
Cannon Neutral Air: Increased Force from 31 Fixed/51 Variable to 35 Fixed/53 Variable.
Cannon Recovery: Decreased threat coverage at the end of the Hit Window; Decreased Hit Window from 8 to 7.
Gauntlets
We have significantly decreased the damage of Gauntlets Neutral Air, given its role in setting up further attacks. This maintains the technical ceiling of this weapon and its more difficult combos, while bringing the rewards in line with difficult sequences on other weapon kits. We have also reduced the threat coverage at the bottom of Gauntlets Recovery to open more reliable escape options after certain strings, and more reliability in contesting this attack from in front and below the user.
Gauntlets Neutral Air: Decreased Damage from 12 to 8.
The Hammer Side Air has received a reduction in rear threat coverage to enable more reliable aerial approaches when contesting this attack from above the user.
Hammer Side Air: Decreased rear threat coverage.
Rocket Lance
The Rocket Lance Neutral Air now allows slightly greater drift and acceleration in exchange for slightly less threat coverage near the end of the attack. The end of the Hit Window no longer strikes opponents that are standing on even ground. The Rocket Lance Down Air now has a significantly shorter Hit Window that travels at a harsher vertical angle and has a slightly more vertical knockback to match. This gives the Down Air a clearer role in comparison to the Side Air by providing a quicker, shorter range attack that can better threaten targets beneath the Rocket Lance user.
Rocket Lance Neutral Air: Decreased threat coverage at the end of the Hit Window; Slightly increased the allowed momentum and acceleration during this power.
Rocket Lance Down Air: Decreased Hit Window from 12 to 9; Angle of travel is slightly more vertical; Angle of knockback is slightly more vertical.
Sword
We have decreased the vertical threat coverage of the Sword Neutral Light to enhance aerial approaches against this weapon. This also grants early dash-jump approaches a wider margin to clear this attack and respond with one of their own.
Sword Neutral Light: Decreased vertical threat coverage of the first two swings.
The Greatsword base kit and a number of Signatures for the earliest Legends have received updates to their hurtboxing. Many of these updates fix a large degree of drop cases that can occur when the user is struck during these powers. Several other updates in this list match the hurtboxing closer to the animation, particularly during attacks with significant movement. This is the first wave in a series of updates to hurtboxing and hitboxing for most Legends and weapons. The next waves will go live after the Winter Championship balance lock is lifted.

The new Ranked Season 19 begins today! Players can use their hard-earned Glory to claim the Skyforged and Goldforged rewards, including Emotes, Nameplates, and more in Mallhalla. More information is provided below for any newcomers to Ranked Seasons.
Last week, Magyar, our newest Legend, arrived to haunt the hallowed halls of Valhalla with their deadly Greatsword and Hammer. Magyar is the 52nd new Legend to permanently join the roster. We’ve also updated Brawl of the Week, free-to-play Legend Rotation, and sale items!
If you’re new to Seasons, here’s some information you should know. You’re going to have a soft Elo reset and will also receive Glory, the currency you receive for playing Ranked. You can use it in the Ranked section of Malhalla to get special Colors, Weapon Skins, Emotes, and Nameplates to show your dedication to your favorite Legend. We hope you enjoy your rewards and enjoy the New Season!
Soft Elo Reset Formula
Soft Elo Reset is based on your current Elo at the end of the season.
1v1 and 2v2 Personal Rating
Under 1400: New Elo = Old Elo
Over 1400: New Elo = 1400 + (Old Elo – 1400) / (3 – (3000 – Old Elo) / 800)
2v2 Team and Legend Rating
2v2 Team & Legend Ratings have been brought closer to 750.
Under 2000: Elo = (Elo + 375) / 1.5
Over 2000, we aggressively brought you back down as a way of resetting the top tiers. Diamond level players will be reset to high gold or low platinum.
Glory Earnings Calculation
Glory earned is based on a combination of your Highest Peak Rating (highest 1v1, 2v2, team, or Legend rating/Elo) and total Wins. This was designed in order to reward both skill and dedication for those who pursue Glory.
You gain 20 Glory per win up to 150 wins, which gets you 3000 Glory. After 150 wins, each subsequent win gives you slightly less.
Note: There is a minimum requirement of 10 games played to be eligible for Glory based on your rating. For help estimating your Glory Gained or New Elo after the reset go to: https://www.brawlhalla.com/glory-calculator/
Ranked Borders from Season 18
If you placed in Gold or better in your best rating, you are given a ranked border that people will see in the match preview screen. There are Ranked borders for Gold, Platinum, and Diamond tiers. These will last for one season and will be updated again after the new season comes to a close.
Your border from any previous season does not carry over or have any impact on your current border reward.
Ranked Avatars from Season 18
Ranked Avatars include prestigious versions for those who’ve placed in high ranks during previous seasons. For example, if you placed in Platinum last season and Gold this season, you’ll receive the upgraded versions of the Competitor’s Badge and Gold Emblem. You will still have your original Platinum Emblem avatar from previous seasons.
You must play a minimum of 10 games to receive ranked avatars / borders at ANY rank.
Competitor’s Badge: Awarded to anyone who plays 10 Ranked Games or more.
Gold Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Gold or above.
Platinum Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Platinum or above.
Diamond Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Diamond.
Upgraded versions of Ranked Avatars are awarded to those who have earned the same Avatar in any previous seasons.
5th & 6th Tier Ranked Avatar Upgrade Information
For players who have reached the 5th Tier of an avatar by reaching a certain rank or higher for five total seasons: the 5th Tier of that avatar will stay in your inventory permanently! Congratulations on your achievements!
The 6th Tier Avatar, for those who have reached a certain rank or higher for six total seasons, will take on a brand new look! These avatars will grow more and more prestigious with each subsequent seasonal repeat up to Tier 10, at which point the Tier 10 avatar will remain in your inventory permanently.
In short, every 5 Tiers of avatars, you’ll keep the most awesome, most decked out version permanently, and then start work on a new version for subsequent tiers for 6-10, 11-15, and so on.

In this update, the Dodge, last Jump cloud, and Wall Touch cloud effects have been graduated to the live game! We also made updates to the Gravity Cancel visual effect and the sweat beads seen when a player loses all recovering options. Test Features are available to try out in the Experimental queue and in Custom Lobbies with Test Features enabled.
We’ve graduated the Dodge, last Jump cloud, and Wall Touch cloud effects!
Players will see these new visual effects in the live game regardless of enabling the Test Features setting.
We’ve updated the Gravity Cancel visual effect and the sweat beads seen when a player is completely out of recovering options based on feedback from the community.
Adjustments have been made to the size of the Gravity Cancel in order to be less obtrusive during matches.
The sweat beads visual effect seen when a player loses all recovering options has received a new animation and color to provide a more subtle solution.
We have made a number of adjustments heavily focused on bringing the Greatsword's potential rate of attack and rewards on hit in line with other weapon kits. This includes adjustments to both its aerial kit, its grounded attack chains, and several Signatures on Legends that use the Greatsword. We have also improved the Scythe's ability to convert from its grounded Active Input string starters to bring its average reward closer in line with most other weapon kits.
Greatsword
The Greatsword has received a wide array of changes to its grounded chain attacks to both increase its risk and decrease its average reward on hit. Many of the Neutral Opener and Neutral Bridge attacks now have less overall threat coverage, improving the reliability of dodge escapes and counterattacks against these options. The Side Light Opener now has greater Time to Hit, slightly reducing its ability to threaten during the neutral game while also allowing jumps to reliably escape chain resets that involve a Side Light Opener connection.
The Greatsword Side Air, Neutral Air, Down Air, and Recovery have also received reductions in threat coverage. The Neutral Air has also received a decrease in Force to bring its knockout potential in line with other similar attacks. The Greatsword Down Air now has greater Recover time on miss and less Stun, removing its positional true combo into Neutral Air, and decreasing its reward while increasing its risk off-stage. The Recovery attack now has less travel speed and drift, and significantly less Force, to bring this attack in line with its overall utility and size.
The Greatsword Opener Stances have all received significant delays to their cancel windows on miss, and minor delays to their attack cancel windows on hit to increase their risk and open more escape routes during attack chains. The Bridge Stances have also received moderate delays to their cancel windows on miss to further increase avenues of counterattack or evasion against continued chains.
Greatsword Neutral Light Opener: Slightly decreased maximum horizontal and vertical threat coverage; Final portion of the Hit Window no longer hits grounded opponents.
Greatsword Side Light Opener: Decreased rear threat coverage during the end of the Hit Window; Increased Time to Hit from 8 to 10.
Greatsword Neutral Bridge (from Side Opener): Slightly decreased maximum horizontal threat coverage.
Greatsword Neutral Bridge (from Down Opener): Slightly decreased maximum horizontal threat coverage.
Greatsword Neutral Bridge (from Down Air Opener): Greatly decreased maximum horizontal and vertical threat coverage; Final portion of Hit Window no longer hits grounded opponents.
Greatsword Side Air: Slightly decreased maximum vertical and horizontal threat coverage for the aerial version.
Greatsword Neutral Air: Slightly decreased maximum vertical and horizontal threat coverage; Threat coverage decreases further during the end of the Hit Window; Decreased Force from 50 Fixed/45 Variable to 50 Fixed/42 Variable.
Greatsword Down Air: Decreased Stun of the aerial version from 20 to 18; Decreased threat coverage at the top of the attack; Increased total Recover time of the aerial version on miss from 8 Fixed/10 Variable to 10 Fixed/10 Variable.
Greatsword Recovery: Decreased maximum vertical and horizontal threat coverage for both the aerial and wall versions; Unified and decreased Force from 88 Fixed/45~49 Variable to 75 Fixed/40 Variable; Slightly decreased vertical travel speed; Decreased drift and acceleration allowed during the power, especially on miss.
Delayed the attack cancel window of Opener Stances on miss by 5 frames.
Delayed the attack cancel window of Opener Stances on hit by 2 frames.
Delayed the jump/dash/dodge cancel window of Opener Stances on miss by 6 frames.
Delayed the jump/dash/dodge cancel window of Bridge Stances on miss by 3 frames.
Delayed the attack cancel window of Bridge Stances on miss by 3 frames.
Delayed the walk cancel window of Side Opener/Bridge & Down Opener/Bridge Stances by 4 frames.
Scythe
The soft versions of Scythe Side Light and Down Light have both received increased Stun, allowing for more reliable conversions from these unique string starters. This increases the Scythe's average rate of damage to be similar to other string weapons and greatly improves its positional rewards.
Scythe Side Light: Increased Stun of the soft version from 14 to 16.
Scythe Down Light: Increased Stun of the soft version from 26 to 28.
Jaeyun
Jaeyun's Side Sword now has greater Recover time on miss and less Force to bring its risk and reward closer in line with other similar Signatures. This Signature has also received an increase in Minimum Charge time and a decrease to its overall threat coverage, opening clearer avenues for counterattack and more reliable dodge escapes when it is used in a string.
Jaeyun Side Sword: Increased total Recover time on miss from 23 to 26; Increased Minimum Charge time from 8 to 10; Decreased Force from 65 Fixed/48 Variable to 65 Fixed/46 Variable; Slightly decreased maximum vertical and horizontal threat coverage.
Mako
We have decreased the Force on Mako's Side Greatsword and Down Greatsword Signatures given their horizontal angle of knockback. Mako's Down Katars have also received a significant increase in Recover time for greater risk on this steerable Signature.
Mako Side Greatsword: Decreased Force from 65 Fixed/50 Variable to 65 Fixed/47 Variable.
Mako Down Greatsword: Decreased Force from 65 Fixed/48 Variable to 65 Fixed/45 Variable.
Mako Down Katars: Increased total Recover time from 10 to 15.

Fixed a bug where choosing a Crossover you don't own that is on rotation and then going to the base Legend after that (e.g., picking Jake, backing out of the lock in, and then picking Kor) would erroneously allow you to use the Crossover's Weapon Skins on the base Legend.
Gameplay
Fixed a rare bug where the player would be sideways when being launched vertically straight up.
Animation
Fixed an animation issue with the 5th Cake-aversary Emote where the limbs would disconnect for some Skins. (Credit: Lucians_sword)
