Season 8 – Rewards and Soft Elo reset!
If you’re new to Seasons, here’s some of the information you should know. You’re going to have a soft elo reset, and you’ll also receive Glory, the currency you receive for playing ranked. You can use it in a special section of Mallhalla to get special colors and weapon skins to show your dedication to your favorite Legend. We hope you enjoy your rewards and enjoy the New Season!

Note: Current Seasons for each platform are Season 8 (PC) and Season 3 (PS4).

Soft Elo Reset Formula
Soft Elo Reset is based on your current elo at the end of the season.

1v1 and 2v2 Personal Rating
  • Under 1400: New Elo = Old Elo
  • Over 1400: New Elo = 1400 + (Old Elo – 1400) / (3 – (3000 – Old Elo) / 800)
2v2 Team and Legend Rating
  • 2v2 Team & Legend Ratings have been brought closer to 750.
  • Under 2000: Elo = (Elo + 375) / 1.5
  • Over 2000, we aggressively brought you back down as a way of resetting the top tiers. Diamond level players will be reset to high gold or low platinum.
Glory Earnings Calculation
Glory earned is based on a combination of your Highest Peak Rating (highest 1v1, 2v2, team, or Legend rating/elo) and total Wins. This was designed in order to reward both skill and dedication for those who pursue Glory.

You gain 20 Glory per win up to 150 wins which gets you 3000 Glory. After 150 wins, each subsequent win gives you slightly less.

Note: There is a minimum requirement of 10 games played to be eligible for Glory based on your rating.

Ranked Borders from Season 7 (PC) and Season 2 (PS4)
If you placed in gold or better in your best rating, you are given a ranked border that people will see in the match preview screen. There are ranked borders for gold, platinum, and diamond tiers. These will last for one season and will be updated again after the new season comes to a close.

Your border from any previous season does not carry over or have any impact on your current border reward.

Ranked Avatars from Season 7 (PC) and Season 2 (PS4)
Ranked Avatars include prestigious versions for those who’ve placed in high ranks during previous seasons. For example, if you placed in Platinum last season and Gold this season you’ll receive the upgraded versions of the Competitor’s Badge and Gold Emblem. You will still have your original Platinum Emblem avatar from previous seasons.

You must play a minimum of 10 games to receive ranked avatars / borders at ANY rank.
  • Competitor’s Badge: Awarded to anyone who plays 10 Ranked Games or more.
  • Gold Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Gold or above.
  • Platinum Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Platinum or above.
  • Diamond Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Diamond.
  • Upgraded versions of Ranked Avatars are awarded to those who have earned the same Avatar in any previous seasons.

5th & 6th Tier Ranked Avatar Upgrade Information
For players who have reached the 5th Tier of an avatar by reaching a certain rank or higher for five total seasons: the 5th Tier of that avatar will stay in your inventory permanently! Congratulations on your achievements!

The 6th Tier Avatar, for those who have reached a certain rank or higher for six total seasons, will take on a brand new look! These avatars will grow more and more prestigious with each subsequent seasonal repeat up to Tier 10, at which point the Tier 10 avatar will remain in your inventory permanently.

In short, every 5 Tiers of avatars, you’ll keep the most awesome, most decked out version permanently, and then start work on a new version for subsequent tiers for 6-10, 11-15, and so on.

Balance
The new Ranked Season brings several updates to stats and mechanics. Dexterity was previously an undervalued stat, so we have increased its effect across the board, now granting a larger spread of recover time reduction between the low and high values. Players will find not only a higher rate of attack, but also more threatening strings and combos should they opt for greater Dexterity in their Legend or Stance. Conversely, Defense has been overvalued as a mainstay in the competitive scene. We have rebalanced the overall effect per point, resulting in low-end Defense gaining some knockback reduction, while high-end Defense sees a drop from its previous knockback reduction. Weapon throws can be a useful tool for mixing up approaches in a tough battle of spacing, setting up edgeguards, or even just denying your opponent of map control. Gaining a chase dodge along with this utility afforded too much safety, so we have removed this ability for more meaningful choices with commensurate risk.
  • Dexterity now has a greater effect per point, with a notable increase at high end values.
  • Defense now has a slightly smaller spread between high and low values. Lower Defense Legends will see a moderate increase in survivability, while higher Defense Legends have become slightly easier to knockout.
  • Throwing a weapon no longer grants access to chase dodge.
Animation
  • Adjusted layering of artwork on Ragnir's Down Axe Signature to reduce visual poppiness.
New Legend Rotation
This week’s Legend rotation features Xull, Wu Shang, Mirage, Ember, Sir Roland, and Cassidy.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug causing “Masked Hero Cassidy” skin to have a long neck in character select

Brawlhalla - Foda

Welcome to patch 3.15! We’re excited to introduce Isaiah, commander of the top-secret OEL forces, armed with Cannon and Blasters. But that’s not all, he also has a drone with a cloaking device and rockets at his disposal! Will the Legends of Valhalla be ready for his methodical tactics and surprise attacks? We also have a nice balance patch focusing on improving Cannon gameplay and feel, along with a few adjustments to Rocket Lance, Bow, and Axe.

New Legend - Isaiah
  • Isaiah “The Specialist” has entered Brawlhalla!
  • Weapons: Cannon and Blasters
  • Stats: 5 Strength, 6 Dexterity, 7 Defense, 4 Speed

Isaiah Launch Skins:
  • Shadow Ops Isaiah - “Operating in the deadliest of shadows.”
  • Task Force Isaiah - “The best partner you can have. As long as you don’t mind extra paperwork.”
  • Section Zero Isaiah - “We have the technology! Bonus: Antennas, cables, and visor react to Isaiah’s actions!”

Maps
  • We graduated the Test Map version of Small Great Hall from the Experimental queue to live. It replaces the old Small Great Hall.

Brawl of the Week - Betrayal!
  • 3 Player FFA!
  • Most points at the end wins!

Animation:
  • Refined reactive head pieces to be more natural in Blaster dair and Cannon ground pound animations

Balance

This week brings a number of changes to the pacing of the Cannon kit and improvements to where it launches foes. We have also included some quality of life changes for the Rocket Lance, as well as adjustments aimed at bringing certain elements of the Axe and Bow gameplay into line. Explore these new changes and good luck climbing the ladder before the next Ranked Season begins!

Cannon

For the Cannon, we have adjusted the overall duration of several attacks, not only to give it a heavier feel, but also to provide a greater window with which to hit confirm followups and choose your next attack. Players will also find the Side Light and Down Light now allow for a greater choice of subsequent attacks, with particular focus on using the Down Air to keep the fight near the ground. The Neutral Air opens up as an option off the Down Light at later damage ranges, so experiment with using the Down Air and Side Air as string options at lower damage. A marked improvement to the Ground Pound is also worthy of note, providing greater coverage during the initial thrust of the Cannon.

  • Cannon Neutral Light: Increased Fixed Recover Time on hit from 2 to 4; Increased Stun from 24 to 26.
  • Cannon Side Light: Has a new closer setup location up-diagonal from the user and is more consistent regardless of target height when struck; Increased Stun from a range of 26~21 to a range of 29~24; Increased Fixed Recover Time on hit from 1 to 3.
  • Cannon Down Light: Has a new setup location that begins much lower to the ground and increases to a more overhead location when the target is around red health; Decreased Stun from 31 to 30; Decreased built-in Recover Time by 1.
  • Cannon Neutral Air: Now allows the user to carry a moderate amount of forward momentum instead of halting the users horizontal motion.
  • Cannon Side Air: Increased coverage near the user during the first 2 frames of the Hit Window; Increased priority during the travel duration of the Hit Window; Changed Force from 45 Fixed/46 Variable to 65 Fixed/43 Variable; Increased Stun from 12 to 15; Increased Fixed Recover Time on hit from 3 to 5.
  • Cannon Down Air: Decreased Damage from 17 to 15.
  • Cannon Ground Pound: Increased coverage near the user during the first 2 frames of the attack; Increased horizontal coverage of the aerial blast; Increased Minimum Charge time from 18 to 21; Decreased delay between release and the blast from 5 to 2.

Bow

The Bow has an excellent overall air kit that can oftentimes be outshined by its Side Air. To give more space for the other attacks to be more meaningful choices, we have reduced the pace at which Bow users can rotate to and from the Side Air, while maintaining its usefulness on hit.

  • Bow Side Air: Increase Time to Hit from 11 to 13; Increased Recover Time on miss from 2 Fixed/26 Variable to 4 Fixed/26 Variable.
  • Bow Recovery: Decreased coverage during the end of the Hit Window.

Axe

We have adjusted the later elements of the powerful Axe combo, still keeping aerial juggles as a rewarding game plan, but shifting the usage of the Down Light from a combo ender into a more potent anti-air threat. This does include a minor reduction in the Stun from Neutral Air, but just enough to turn the previous combo ender into a tight string, leaving room to use other strings that can better pursue aerial opponents.

  • Axe Down Light: Increased Time to Hit from 8 to 9; Decreased Recover Time on miss from 2 Fixed/12 Variable to 0 Fixed/12 Variable.
  • Axe Neutral Air: Decreased Stun from a range of 30~29 to a range of 28~27.

Rocket Lance

The Rocket Lance Side Light is a core piece of any player's kit, enabling great followups that can put opponents on edge. However, an opponent could get knocked too far away when at very late damage ranges, so we have increased the duration at which followups remain possible. To this end, we have also increased the reliability of the most desirable late damage followup; the Recovery.

  • Rocket Lance Side Light: Decreased Force from 30 Fixed/8 Variable to 30 Fixed/6 Variable; Angle of knockback is now slightly more vertical.
  • Rocket Lance Down Air: Slightly Decreased coverage near the user.
  • Rocket Lance Recovery: Decreased Minimum Charge from 11 to 8.

New Legend Rotation

This week’s new Legend Rotation features Ada, Jhala, Lucien, Mordex, Orion, and Yumiko.

New Features
  • In both Custom and Couch team game modes, the Match Preview screen will now sort teammates together.
  • The legends will now face each other in the Match Preview screen if the game is 1v1 or teams, credit suggestion to /u/BrunoSupremo.

Bug Fixes
  • Improved collision detection with moving platforms, particularly on the Wheel test map.
  • Mordex Neutral Scythe: Fixed a case where the target could be dropped before the final hit. (Credit: Golden)

Balance
This week's balance updates are targeted at revaluing most attacks that reverse player's relative positions. The value of positional advantage has proven to be increasingly effective, so most of these attacks have received adjustments to their other rewards on hit. They remain useful options for building damage and turning the flow of battle in your favor, but are now less effective at securing knockouts by themselves. For kits that had a greater emphasis on these attacks, power has been shifted to other areas.

Hammer

The Hammer kit can be very threatening offstage, as its Recovery attack has a moderate amount of force that sends targets above the user straight downwards. We have significantly reduced the scaling of force on the Recovery attack, and have shifted that power to bolster the Hammer's on-stage presence in the form of better priority on the Neutral Light.
  • Hammer Neutral Light: Slightly increased vertical threat.
  • Hammer Recovery: Decrease Force from 45 Fixed/33 Variable to 45 Fixed/29 Variable.

Spear

As a long range weapon with strong control options that can keep attackers at bay, the Spear kit can rotate a bit too quickly between missed attacks on the ground. We have slightly increased the risk on the Side Light to allow more reliable gaps for counterplay. In exchange, we have increased the base stun of the Recovery attack, as striking undamaged opponents with this attack could shift advantage too greatly in favor of the target.
  • Spear Side Light: Increased Time to Hit from 10 to 11; Increased Recover Time on miss from 1 Fixed/10 Variable to 3 Fixed/10 Variable.
  • Spear Recovery: Increased base Stun from 19 to 21.

Katars

We have increased the consistency for the Katars Down Air ground collision, as one of the kit's main approach options and potential reset attacks. The decrease in force leaves targets closer to the user, even at high damage, resulting in more reliable connection to followup strings and greater threat of dodge reads. The damage has also been increased on the ground collision to provide more appropriate rewards against opponents who are adept at escaping strings.
  • Katars Down Air: Increased Damage of final hit on ground collision from 4 to 6; Decreased Force from 25 Fixed/5 Variable to 21 Fixed/4 Variable.

Gauntlets

In revaluing attacks that provide a significant positional advantage, the Gauntlets Neutral Air has received a decrease in force scaling, as it could send opponents who were caught in its grasp too far down off-stage. This decrease gives targets a better chance at recovering back to the stage, not only by requiring more damage to score knockouts, but also by affording targets an earlier opportunity to get above and past the Gauntlets user.
  • Gauntlets Neutral Air: Decreased Force from 50 Fixed/25 Variable to 47 Fixed/22 Variable.

Scythe

The Scythe kit contains several attacks that swap the user and targets relative locations. The prominent offstage options of reverse Neutral Air and reverse Down Air have received decreases in force similar to other options that grant significant positional advantage. The Scythe Recovery has also been adjusted for a more horizontal knockback, with each of these changes affording targets more reasonable opportunities for recovery and ability to contest a Scythe user after such interactions offstage. In exchange, we have decreased the risk on one of the Scythe's primary neutral tools and grounded anti-air, the Neutral Light, to be closer in line with those of other weapons.
  • Scythe Neutral Light: Decreased Recover Time on miss from 3 Fixed/23 Variable to 3 Fixed/20 Variable.
  • Scythe Neutral Air: Decreased Force for the backwards version from 34 Fixed/39 Variable to 34 Fixed/35 Variable.
  • Scythe Down Air: Decreased Force for the backwards version from 52 Fixed/30 Variable to 52 Fixed/27 Variable.
  • Scythe Recovery: Angle of knockback has been raised to be more horizontal.

Signatures

We have adjusted the force on Signatures that significantly provide positional advantage by swapping player's relative locations, primarily those that can be used to easily reverse edgeguard scenarios or when cornered near the edge of a platform. Several of these have had power shifted into other areas of their kit in compensation if the adjustment to their reward was found to offset the Legend's total power too greatly.
  • Mordex Down Scythe: Decrease Force of the backwards version from 60 Fixed/47 Variable to 57 Fixed/43 Variable.
  • Mordex Neutral Scythe: Increased Damage from 23 to 25.
  • Bodvar Down Hammer: Decreases Force from 70 Fixed/63 Variable to 70 Fixed/58 Variable.
  • Bodvar Neutral Sword: Increased Damage from 22 to 25.
  • Diana Down Bow: Decreased Force from 85 Fixed/45 Variable to 80 Fixed/42 Variable; Increased Damage from 21 to 24.
  • Diana Down Blasters: Decrease Force from 70 Fixed/48 Variable to 70 Fixed/43 Variable.
  • Teros Neutral Hammer: Decrease Force from 69 Fixed/46 Variable to 65 Fixed/42 Variable.
  • Teros Side Axe: Decreased Minimum Charge Time from 11 to 9.
  • Lucien Side Blasters: Decreased Force from 55 Fixed/56 Variable to 55 Fixed/51 Variable.

New Legend Rotation
This week’s new Legend Rotation features Caspian, Cassidy, Ember, Mirage, Sidra, and Ulgrim.

  • Added a new test version of Small Great Hall called "Small Great Hall Test". It has a narrower top platform that is now within dash-jump height of the middle tier of soft platforms. It also has shorter walls, and items do not spawn on the top platform. It has replaced the current version of Small Great Hall in the Experimental 1v1 queue.
  • Updated the Small Twilight Grove test map: the collision for the top point of the wedge is now 50 pixels (or about 1/3 character height) shorter to make it more manageable to recover over the top.
  • Reduced the width of Small Brawlhaven by 15% to further separate it from Shipwreck Falls.
