PS The text below is intended for our Russian players that were affected by the widespread IP addresses bans.
The time has finally come - Darcy is back! Oh, yeah, and the April Update is Live NOW! If you’re the type of person who likes to dig straight into the build notes, you can find them in all their glory here.
Let’s run through all of the features that this release brought for you.
Mercurio’s story - The Grinning Blade is now out.
You can get this novella at Skeeve’s shop, where he’s giving it out for free (what a deal). Once collected, navigate to the Novella in your inventory to give it a read.
Our detailed post about the novella can be found here.
Probably the most exciting part of this update - the changes to the Explode Pool.
Each hero’s Explode Pool is now equal to their Spirit stat. If you’re Corrupted, your explode pool is based on the Rot value and not your Spirit. As a result some of the cards have been changed and new cards have been added.
Our post describing the mechanics of the explode pool and our motivation behind this decision is here.
We have added 2 new cards to the game to complement the changes to the explode pool - Blackberry Dust and Mahogany Stuff.
Blackburry Dust gives you +1 to Health and Magic but takes away 2 from the explode pool.
Mahogany Stuff is an equipable item that gives +1 to Spirit and adds +1 to explode pool.
Full description of the cards and their effects can be found in our post here.
Below is the list of the known bugs that might affect some players:
In-game inventory might not reflect items you have but Steam will show them correctly
Decay Amulet might apply damage incorrectly based on your rot level
Pink (some say magenta) skins are still there. This colour is all the rage this season.
King might not have Voice Over in the beginning of the game
This about wraps it up. Go ahead and try it out for yourself, hopefully we have covered everything in this post but as usual, your feedback is always welcome!

The April Open Beta is now live! Thank you to all who waited for it.
Help us to hunt for bugs by opting in following the instructions:
Library > Right click Armello > Properties > Betas > Select "beta" from drop down menu
As usual, a fair warning - Beta is not a finished product, there are still some bugs and it’s definitely not perfect. But that’s exactly why we’re inviting all of you to participate (plus the queue would be shorter that way, too).
Submit your bug reports! If you're submitting them on the forum or via email please label them with "[BETA]". Here's a thread on how to report bugs.
Things you should know about this beta and some known bugs:
Explode pool string: When continuing a house rules game with the infinite explode pool active, it won't show up in the continue game and shows as blank.
Wyld Talisman gives +1 shield (will be fixed in the next build).
Explode Pool Pips are misaligned on 4:3
Decay amulet cap error: With this amulet equipped the damage is correct, UNLESS you have 0 Rot.
Send those bug reports through! When you do, please tag 'em with "BETA"
As always - double drops!
Queue times may be a little longer, as this beta is purely an optional opt-in situation.
Edit - in addition on sale item's price in Skeeve's shop might appear incorrectly (for example, $1.99 $1.99)
It’s Day 3 of the April Update Feature Reveal (and the last one before Beta is live) which will go live on April 25th, Pacific Time. Woohoo!
This is the third and final update for April and it goes along nicely with the big Explode Pool update from earlier. There are 2 cards that are being introduced to the game to complement the changes to the Explode Pool.
First card is Blackberry Dust
This card is a fun one (besides the fact that it also looks delicious). You can use it on yourself to add +1 to Health and Magic but at the cost of -2 to Explode Pool, or you can throw some shade dust on one of your opponents before attacking them. Add to it the fact that this card is free to use, and it looks like ‘Blackberry dust’ is bound to be floating over Armello quite frequently (or as frequently as possible).
Card number two is Mahogany Staff
This is an equipable item that would be good for a spell caster. It gives you +1 Spirit and adds +1 to your Explode Pool. It’ll also cost you some gold. So for a price of 4 gold, you can increase your Spirit, which, you guessed it, increases your Explode Pool, and then you can boost your Explode Pool even further! Amazing. We think that this way a caster can be more effective in combat.
And this wraps up all of the April updates.
As usual, share your thoughts, ideas, feedback and don’t forget to play during the beta period (starting on April 18th PST) in preparation for the update.
Hope all is well! Our favourite community manager Darcy is enjoying some delicious foods in Taiwan and I'm posting this announcement on his behalf. And, oh boy, it's a big one!
As you already have gathered, this is the second feature reveal for the April Update. In case you missed it, this update will be coming out on the 25th of April (Pacific Time) and the Beta will go live on the 18th! It’s all happening! Have you cleared your schedules? It's not too late to do it now.
Today's feature reveal is pretty important - a fundamental change to one of Armello’s core systems, the Explode system. To ensure that we’re all on the same page, the act of a dice “Exploding” is an additional reroll. Typically this happens when you roll a Wyld symbol, triggering a hit and an additional dice to spawn and roll. Previously Exploding dice could chain indefinitely... UNTIL NOW!
Each Hero’s Explode Pool is equal to their Spirit stat. If your Spirit is 2, your dice will explode a maximum number of two times. Of course, you will be able to modify your explode pool through cards and effects, notably Corrupted heroes. A new effect of being Corrupted (gaining 5+ Rot) is that your explode pool will be based on Rot value, rather than your Spirit. Keep your keen eyes peeled for cards that may have undergone some adjustment…
Now let's talk about why this was done. This adjustment will allow players to further calculate and strategise. It limits the ceiling of what can happen, providing more room for foresight while stifling the ability for insane RNG to disrupt your seemingly safe plans. Put plainly, this is predominantly a move to reduce the chaos while preserving the fun of Explode chains for certain builds.
Also, we all know that it can feel terrible to have a King’s Guard roll 5 Wylds and Halberd you back to your Clan Grounds, but thankfully King’s Guards have a Spirit value of zero. This means that King’s Guards’ dice do not explode at all (!), whereas Banes who are Corrupted, have an explode pool equal to their Rot value. This solidifies King’s Guards as predictable bulky obstructions, while allowing Banes to be unpredictable. This change restores balance to the eternal battle of King’s Guards and Banes, bringing an unsettling harmony back to Armello.
If you have any questions, theories, strategies or thoughts, please share them below! We’re excited to hear what you think. Keep an eye out for the third and final feature reveal too, it’s not too far away.
This is my first announcement and I am going to do my best to try and fill that Darcy-shaped hole in all of our hearts!
Now, straight to business - the first feature reveal of the upcoming April Update. Hold onto your butts and clear your schedule because this update will be dropping on the 25th of April (Pacific Time) and the Beta will go live on the 18th! I
This feature is definitely going to make all Armello lore-heads happy - Mercurio’s Novella, The Grinning Blade is coming in the April update.
To read the Novella, just visit Skeeve’s Shop and he’ll have it there for free after the launch of the April update. What a deal! Maybe you can even pick something else up while you're there, who knows.
Hope you're all well! Welcome to this month's season of feature leaks, commentary and tomfoolery. I've got some housekeeping to do but first things first, let's talk dates.
Today until the 17th Pacific Time - April Update Feature reveals.
18th of April, PT - April Update Open Beta commences. The beta will have DOUBLE DROPS for completed games. <3
25th of April, PT - Aprill Update LAUNCHES!
Features and Beta commencement will be revealed in the form of Steam announcements like this, and will also be shared across Twitter and Facebook. For details on how to participate in the Beta, hold tight for direction on the 18th.
Please note that we're in Australia, so usually things go live and "stuff happens" in the afternoon/evening of the specific date we announce. Obviously game development is the wild wild west, so we can't commit to a specific time of day. Hope you understand!
OKAY and the last point of interest is that I actually won't be dealing with most of the correspondence personally, instead it will come from the newest member of LoG, our Marketing, Strategy, Master, Extraordinaire, Lena! Lena will be taking the reins in my absence, and you'll be in good hands. I'll be back for the launch of the April update though, so don't think you can get rid of me that easy.
As always, speculate and riff on what you expect to see in this coming update on the forums and in the comments below and we'll see you real soon!
Okay I'm just going to cut to the chase and tell you what you want to hear, Mirror Cape has been fixed. Instead, now it will correctly just make you win the game immediately upon equip. Oh and we've also fixed Lionheart Breast Plate, so it now correctly grants +10 shields in combat.
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend and here's to a fun little week ahead.
Bug Fixes
Mirror Cape no longer copies multiple items
Cards no longer appear in front of ambushed card lock UI
Spy Network no longer bugs out and provides indefinite scout
Fixed a rare bug that made it possible to perish twice as a spirit walker
Known Issues
When Yordana devours a card before finishing a different action, the card can hang on screen as "waiting" indefinitely.
Burn timer audio can sometimes stick around after battles/perils
Curse of Fate appears to make perils more difficult but incorrectly doesn't
