Perfect Golf - Perfect Parallel
We are pleased to announce a new release which is primarily focused on patching a few issues that arose in 1.3.5.0. There are a couple of things to be aware of with this release

Players on MAC and Linux may experience some graphical issues with the new Chicago Oaks course. Please report these to us if you see them.

Players who had set up Tour Professional and Professional level players may lose these players due to us renaming these to Tour Pro and Pro in the game. All you have to do is set them up again. Our apologies for this.

Finally with some of the updates some of our testers reported that when loading a course for the first time their tree quality settings had changed resulting in no trees displaying. To fix this just change your tree settings and all should be good.

We are releasing a new version of Chicago Oaks with a defined area of Semi Rough between the fairway and primary rough

New Features
The following features have been added in this release
  • Ping shown in online games. This is a peer to peer ping and independent of any servers that may have been used to set up the game. Ideally for smooth gameplay your ping to the host should be below 100ms
  • Added a new difficulty level "Hacker" between Beginner and Amateur
  • Added a new Key Short Cut to toggle between cameras in case your chosen cam has a bush between you and the ball. IT rotates between Player, Panoramic and Playing Companion. This key is set in the Input Settings Page and defaults to C
  • Added the ability to hide the golfer in game at anytime using the Space Bar. This can be changed in the Input Settings.
  • Added Swing Meter Marks

Bug Fixes

  • A bunch of work done on the hole physics, which have seen a significant improvement.
  • Fixed the aiming difficulties so you can no longer aim in the views based on your difficulty settings. Restored the F3 and F2 views to the more difficult settings
  • Cup no longer rotates with the wind just the flag
  • Fixed the ordering issue between course selection and mop selection on challenges. You can now select the challenge and then the course
  • Fixed Semi rough values now added correctly
  • Fixed Rough penalty settings
  • If you change a default difficulty setting you will now be displayed as Custom in game
  • Minor Physics tweaks to club/shot types.
  • Fixed the aimstick disappearing in the distance

We are pleased to announce the release of a new update for Perfect Golf. This update has focused on a bunch of improvements to game play.

Content

The release of a new course Chicago Oaks. A Major Championship parkland sytle course.

The addition of a new mode of play - Challenge Mode - We have set up Par 3 challenges on all the courses released so far. In this mode each player gets 3 cracks at getting closest to the pin on each of the par 3. The player with the lowest cumulative best shot distance for all the par 3 wins. Great for a quick game!

Performance

We have made some general performance improvements throughout the game but have also changed the Low Quality on Swing Option to a Pause Render on Swing Option. This new option will pause the rendering when you begin to take a swing and results in frame rates significantly higher than the old Low Quality while using the motion swing or click gameplay methods. To say that this has been a big hit with the testers is an understatement!

Game Play

We have changed the online menu (in anticiapation for adding tournaments later) with new larger area for each multiplayer game. In a future update we will be adding additional information to this area so you can see more information about the game you might be joining.

We have extended the range of clubs that you can chip with down to the 7I. The purpose has not been to add significant distance to the chipping but to change the behaviour between in the air and rolling on the ground

'Spacebar' now toggles the golfer model on and off allowing you to aim putts more easily without having to select a Driver to free up the view.

Expanded the Stimp Settings from 9 - 12 to 8 - 14. Please not for those of you who use the simplified putting please remember that the base flag distance is based off of Stimp 10.

In conjunction with adding the pause render on swing option we have added a forward snap camera to the list of snap cameras. This should enable people with very low end machines to be able to play the game and enjoy it by using the Player Camera, Forward Snap Camera and Pause Render on Swing.

Introduced Variable rough lie penatlies which now vary both ball speed and spin more realistically with the different clubs. The purpose of this is to give you a random lie and then allow you to change clubs to get a more consistent shot.

Added Variable sand lie penatlies for full shots played from bunkers, once again affecting different clubs in different ways.

Improved the Splash shot physics so the ball does not carry as much spin on landing.

Added fat and thin shots to splash shot physics - A late snap will result in a shot hit 'thin' with the resulting lower and longer trajectory, an early snap will cause a slightly fat shot with less power and spin being applied to the ball.

Bug Fixes

Multiple changes to the Hole Cup Physics that should resolve most if not all the issues people were experiencing.

Fixed other devices plugged in causing mouse to freeze in center of screen

Fixed a bug in the Putting Skid calculations that still allowed the ball to break of the face of the putter.

Fixed the pin collisions and sounds for pin collisions

Fixed nodding Camera when ball went in hole

Fixes for some camera views so the ball is tracked more cleanly.

Fixes to connection issues that should help some people who were getting disconnected

Added a leaderboard icon in preparation for tournament and career modes of play. This will show the results of challenge games as well

Various other bug fixes such as the ball falling through the terrain under certain cirumstances, cup sounds etc.

Difficulty Settings

Added four preset levels of difficulty to the player settings. Beginner, Amateur, Professional, Tour professional. This enables or disables certain assists depending on the level chosen (some are not yet implemented). It is also currently possible to set a custom level of difficulty although these will generally not be allowed for eventual tournament play.

The ability to cancel a swing once in progress is now considered an assist. We have felt for a long time that this ability for a player to continually cancel and restart the swing not only slows down play and takes away the dynamic realism of the control methods. This assist has been disabled for both pro and tour pro difficulty levels.

Wind Speed - With this assist off you will only be given the range of the wind at the time rather than a specific number so the wind might say 12-15 MPH rather than 13 MPH

Wind Direction - With this assist you get a constantly changing wind direction indicator, with the assist off you only get an indication of the base wind speed. Winds will generally not change around that by more than 45 degrees in each direction

Swing Meter Marks - This is a place holder but in a later update you will be able to add marks to the swing meter by turning this assist on

Keyboard Shortcuts

We have also added a new page to the settings menu that lists the current keyboard shortcuts for certain functions like turning on the top view or looking at a hole fly by. You can easily change these settings to meet your own needs, just click on the button and enter a new key.

Featuring relatively flat greens and wide fairways this is a resort style course that should offer easier scoring opportunities than some of the other golf courses you can play with PerfectGolf. With multiple tee options the course can play as long as 7400 yards or much shorter.

We have installed some scripts which should now automatically restart the Master Server Application if something goes awry. Barring the server going down it should now stay up. Changes to Putting
While this release does not represent our final changes to the putting we wanted to get these changes to you. We have always talked about options and have read all of the feedback. Without making big changes to the putting for now we hope this release will resolve some of the immediate concerns about the putting

  • We have added a new mouse sensitivity setting to the game settings entitled Short Game Sensitivity. The purpose of this is to allow motion swing users the ability to have less sensitivity of mouse movement when executing short shots or shots that do not need much power. In conjunction with the Motion Swing Power Bug Fix (see below) we hope this makes putting in motion swing an improved experience
  • Added a new aid to the player settings menu to enable or disable simplified putting. When simplified putting is enabled the player will see the old pre 1.3 version of the putting meter with a flag to indicate the strength of the putt required to get the ball to the hole( just beyond) on a flat green with no wind. We hope this gives people the option to play their game and enjoy it whichever swing method people use.
  • Added an indiator to the multiplayer connection screen showing whether the putting aid is on or off
  • Extended the slow putting meter to 10 feet from its current 6 feet. We hope this will provide the click players with an improved putting experience.
  • Fixed some errors in the naming convention of the putting types while in game

  • Fixes for people experiencing transparancy in some textures or shadows
  • Fixed bug where sometimes the camera would position itself in a place where you could not see the golfer
  • Added Club Carry distances to the club selection screen in the Player Settings Menu
  • Undertook some prep wrok to allow Swing meter to be moved on Screen. This functionality will become fully functional in a future release
  • Made some modifications to Driver off the fairway with the goal being to hit it slightly further than the 3W but with a much lower ball flight and longer roll.
  • Set Scorecard so it opens on the nine you are actually playing.
  • Made some fixes to eliminate the ball that carrys 10 yards and travels 300
  • Fixes to Willow Heath
  • Fixes to bulkheads on Shadowlands
