Codemasters’ Formula 1 racing games hit a bit of a bump in the transition to a new console generation, meaning that here on PC we saw F1 2014 towards the end of the racing season, as ever, but F1 2015 [official site] is arriving a lot earlier this year. Today, in fact. It’s out now (and that’s after a one-month delay. You can buy it and play it right now.
A fair few folks are grumbling about poor performance and crashes, though.
Codemasters' new racing game F1 2015 will be out on July 10 (July 21 at retail in North America, actually), which makes this a fine time to figure out what you'll need to run it. And by "figure out," I mean, "Let's go have a look at Steam."
First up, the minimum:
And then, the recommended spec, which is where you really want to be:
The vast gulf between the minimum and recommended specifications is a little unusual, but the low-end of the scale means that just about anyone should be able to play it. And you may well want to: We haven't laid hands on it yet, but F1 2015 looks a lot more promising than last year's decidedly dull release.
For a game about going really fast, Formula 1 2015 [official site] seems to have taken forever to get here. It’s now just days until the game’s release, and Codemasters are drumming up excitement with a new features trailer. The video exhibits lots of shiny cars, emotionally stirring music, and a reminder that the game that was supposed to be here last month will finally arrive soon.
Would you like to see a video of cars going really fast? That s excellent, because I just happen to have here a video of cars going very, very fast for you to look at. Unfortunately the trailer of Formula 1 2015 [official site] below comes alongside a delay. F1 2015 will now launch on July 10th, one month after its previous June 12th release date.
Codemasters announced this year’s Formula 1 game alongside last year’s, which looked a bit like a ‘Well, we aren’t quite ready for next-gen systems yet so how about if we just release next year’s early once we figure that out?’ gesture. With a June release scheduled, they’re now showing a few screenshots and talking about what’s new to F1 2015 [official site] other than flashier graphics.
Handling, mostly. The big ‘ooh let’s start talking about this’ blog post goes on about car handling a lot, which is probably important for a game essentially all about handling.
