It’s been a while since we’ve updated TerraTech or given you much insight into what we’ve been doing, but we can now spill the beans on why we’ve been quiet. This includes what we’ve got in store for TerraTech, multiplayer, and our future plans for the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU9Prz-xML8 Today we are announcing that TerraTech will be leaving Steam Early Access and will be launching on consoles this Summer! That’s right, we’ll be releasing TerraTech on PC, PlayStation 4 & Xbox One, so console players won’t feel so left out anymore.
If that wasn’t enough for you, we’re also going to be releasing a multiplayer Beta on 18th May for PC players. We previously asked you guys to help us break multiplayer while it was out on the unstable branch, and you guys did an incredible job. As a result, we’ve been tirelessly working on squashing all of those bugs and making multiplayer better for this release. Info on console multiplayer will be coming later.
We’ve added plenty of features to TerraTech over the past year or so, most of which have completely shaken up gameplay experience from guns and blocks to missions and the crafting system. This is a great time for players to get back into the game if you haven’t played for a while. For returning players, here’s a recap:
Creative Mode We created a whole new mode for those of you who wanted to explore the game without the threat of missions and enemies, and all the freedom you can have with unlimited blocks.
New blocks We’ve added around 100 new blocks to both the main game and to our DLC, R&D.
Hawkeye & Venture Missile Launchers
EXP Bomb Bay
GSO Explosive Bolts
Hawkeye, Venture and GSO Shotguns
Hawkeye, Venture and GSO Mortars
Venture and EXP Flame Throwers
GeoCorp Angled and Articulated Drills and Plasma Cutters
GSO and Hawkeye huge end-game Cannons
Hawkeye Sentry Turret
Venture Mobile Refinery and SCU
Payload Terminals for all Corporations (Shop Blocks)
EXP Axles, Bearings, Hooks and Loops
Venture Monster and Titan Truck Wheels
EXP F1 Wheels
GeoCorp Stupidly Big Wheels
Hawkeye Autocannon
Venture Springer Wheel Series
GSO Autominer
GSO, Venture and Hawkeye Propellers
Tank Treads for All Corporations
Crafting We implemented a whole crafting system, which then led to one of the craziest community-made collab project, The Great Ball Contraption.
Missions We fleshed out the world of TerraTech with NPCs and a range of missions, such as:
GSO’s Crafty Mike and his crafting missions
GeoCorp’s Big Pete and his harvesting missions
Venture’s Suzi Vroom and her racing missions
Hawkeye’s Sergeant Smash and his combat missions
GSO crate drops
GSO defend friendly Tech missions
Venture’s stunts on ramps, hoops & platforms
Venture’s catch and destroy missions
Biomes The Ice and Pillars biomes were added into the game, two of the most interesting in the game with differing ground friction and concentrated lighting. We also introduced more variation into each of the existing biomes.
Steam Workshop We integrated Steam Workshop into the game so players could easily share their snapshots of Techs and comment on each others’ creations.
Gameplay We added in manual targeting, movement while in build beam, manual saves, and so much more. But, this isn’t to say we’re not going to add any more to TerraTech - far from it. We’ll be continuing to add features regularly after its launch in Summer 2018.
Keep an eye out for more info on the upcoming release of TerraTech, we can’t wait to tell you more.
