Since PAX East is right around the corner (April 11-13), we are now in the process of solidifying the design of the first 3 characters, stabilizing the build and improving the visuals. This is temporary measure that will allow us to reach a level of quality that is presentable for this massive event. Stop by our booth if you will be at PAX East!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

  • New powers architecture is finally deployed!
    - We shifted the gameplay from a prototype state to a more structured and scalable format.
    - As expected, it wreaked havoc for a while, but we've been quite efficient containing and addressing the damages. Everything should be fixed by Friday.
  • Character selection now works!
    - It is now possible to choose your character and team.
  • Music trial and error
    - The game is not silent anymore! The music will be iterated on, so please give us your feedback. This is the “first draft” so to say.
  • New features for private games and inviting friends
    - It is now possible to create a game that isn't open to random people, but only open to people you invite from your Steam friend list. Gaming with randos is fun, but so is gaming with friends.
  • Ultimate blocker power works!
    - The middle mouse button can now be used to make a force field appear at a targeted location.

CURRENT PRIORITIES

  • Finish fixing regressions caused by the new code architecture.
  • Sound effects integration first pass.
  • Create PAX demo-ready version
    - Create show floor demo flow
    - Develop LAN version of the game (since we won’t have internet access at PAX East)
  • All things PAX polish
    - Debug features (ex. ball passing through stadium)
    - Increase EPICNESS (ultimate powers production, goal effects)
    - Improve visuals, music, sounds, animations, VFXs
    - And other cool things we think up in the next few days!

Production Update (Week 2):

Honestly, so far, we are super excited to have such great people involved with us on the project, and we've been amazed how much help we are receiving through our Steam forum and Twitch shows.

Achievements of the week!

- 32-bit version NOW works! Thank God... PR crisis over!

- Our Twitch channel is now embedded in the welcome page of the game (Since we stream non-stop, now each time you open the game you can see us developing it and this also helps clarify the message that the game is currently in development)

- 3rd character (girl) is now integrated in the game (1st pass)

- Stadium is now BIGGER (This is meant to make passing more useful as players can no longer go from one side of the terrain to the other as quickly)

- Champion selector (VERY rough)

- Gameplay tweaking & clarity improvement (On-going daily test and iteration are progressively causing significant improvement to overall gameplay & ergonomy)

Coolest stuff that will happen next week!

- New gameplay architecture will be deployed next week (We preferred to wait until Monday as this could potentially wreak havoc)

- Champion selector to be vastly improved (for instance, it should allow you to actually choose the character you selected)

- Power debug & improvement

- Blocker power to be tightened

- New bumper gameplay

- Decide on the ultimate power for girl character

- Music!

- Sound effects (1st pass)

- Cinematics will receive much love

- Visual effects to be improved, personalized, and clarified

- And probably tons of more cool stuff that we are not expecting ourselves!

Production Update (Week 1):

Project Cyber is still early in its development but we're making huge progress. Thanks everyone for your feedback!

Achievements of the week!

- Daily playtests and production updates on Twitch every weekday at 7PM (each playtest session is archived on YouTube)
- Steam Community Board now live, active and very constructive! Thanks everyone!
- Matchmaking now semi-functional
- Many gameplay feature tests & prototypes: Grab power, rocket power, pass system, and events (chasm & wind turbine)
- Robot character (the blocker) has now been integrated (1st pass) in the game!

Current priorities:

- Improve matchmaking so it works 100% of the time
- Debug the 32-bit version of the game
- Integrate Champion selection system
- Improve gameplay (clustering question is not 100% solved)
- Ultimate powers & system need some more love

Today's update (build 17784):

We're still having issues with matchmaking, joining as teams and players getting kicked out. Hence, in this episode, we use some Twitch-ception (thanks Gasgano for streaming as well)!

We also show a bit of a fun little experiment map that feels like air hockey (option 6 in the map selection).

This experiment is going great so far! The interest of people from all over the world to participate in the development of a game from the ground up has been amazing! Thanks to everyone's input, we're making progress on the gameplay side at an amazing pace, and on the technical side as well, from connection issues to crashes.

Already this week we worked on improvements and tests taking into account feedback and discussions:

- Custom game creation
- New grab power
- New physics based projectile power
- Pass reward mechanic
- New bounce effect on stadium sides


As expected from a game in pre-demo stage (our official way of saying the game isn't event pre-alpha!), there are many challenges and obstacles. Welcome to game development :). One issue that has been highlighted by the community is the fact that the game doesn't work in 32bits OS. This is a tricky issue, but we're definitely working on solving it. Stay tuned!

Over 2000 requests for Steam keys have pounded our email server into submission. But don't worry - if you asked for one, you will receive it by tomorrow morning (March 12, Eastern daylight time). Keys for new requests usually go out every weekday afternoon (again, Eastern daylight time).

Today, the grab power and the dash were made more powerful. Also, we're trying out a new wider test map. To try this new version, press i then 3 (Create Game) then 7.

As part of today's update, we fixed issues with the Play button!

"Find Game" option is fully operational.

However, "Custom Game" is still WIP, hopefully it will be operational tomorrow. Franco, Adrien and Jerome are hard at work on it.

In the mean time, if you can't find 5 other players but still want to try a custom game, you can use the debug menu, as described here : http://steamcommunity.com/app/285580/discussions/0/558749824868338517/

Also, a new Character model has been added by René! We think he's super cool, check it out!
