Creativerse - PlayfulDavid
UPDATE: We decided to extend our sale another 2 weeks. Creativerse will remain now 40% off through Jan 2, 2015!

With all apologies to our southern hemisphere players, winter is coming. To prepare against the cold, we need more players to heat up our servers, which double as Playful HQ’s heating system.

In all seriousness, we are feeling good enough about Creativerse’s stability that we are ready to widen the audience a bit and really see what our servers can handle. We’re hoping a sale will help us get there. It’s an essential step on our journey to eventually going free to play next year.

You can help us by letting your friends know and then playing the heck out of Creativerse together. It’s the perfect time to get together and let your friends build a temple to your glory while renting them space in your catacombs for the small price of 17 tempered iron bars a day.

And remember, your feedback has already helped shape the game into something incredible! We’re relying on your continued participation to help us make Creativerse the pinnacle of sandbox adventure games! Let’s keep crafting our world together!

Creatifriends!

We’re back with another exciting update. First up, now you finally have the choice to play as a female in Creativerse! Time to get in touch with your feminine side and start adventuring with an extra X chromosome (digitally speaking, of course). Speaking of characters, I’ll give a shout out to customization — we know a lot of you want it, so I wanted to mention it is on our roadmap (could be a while, though — so much to get done first!).

By popular request, we’ve added signs! You can craft and place wooden signs to display all your deepest hopes, fears and desires. Or maybe just a big “MY STUFF - KEEP OUT!” warning. But we didn’t stop there. We also added labels for teleporters and chests, which should come in handy for those of you who like to set up chest rooms made entirely of chests.

This update also introduces the first round of admin tools we’ve been promising for a while now. Worlds now have owners, who can promote players to admins, mods, builders or visitors. Those with appropriate privileges can mute, kick or even ban troublesome players. It’s the beginning of a larger system we plan to roll out which will give you full control of your world and let you open it up to anyone without risking griefer chaos.

For our builders, while we don’t have any new standard blocks this time (next time — promise!), we do have some new windows, including stone and barred varieties for sending a message in rougher neighborhoods.

Lastly, don’t miss the new death animation. We know you’ll be dying to check it out! Hahaha...I’m so, so sorry.

Thanks for being awesome!

Greetings Creatifriends!

As promised, R6 is a big update.

We're most excited for you to meet Keepa, a new mob who's found his way into your worlds (and our hearts). He's rare, though, so you'll have to figure out how to bump into him.

He's also hoarding a new type of resource -- the super shiny Arcstones! Arcstones are used in a whole slew of new craftable items, so be prepared for a lot of close encounters with the Keepa creepa if you want to deck your halls with, say, Grand Arc Lanterns.

You'll see the beginnings of a new buff system in this update. Once you've crafted and knocked back a few questionably smelly potions, you'll know what we're talking about. Try walking around the corruption layer after imbibing the mysteriously named "Corruption Resistance Potion" and see what we mean.

For you builders out there, check out the new Romanesque blocks. Finally, you can put all that limestone and bedrock to good use and build the city of your dreams. No really, please build the city of your dreams and decorate our community hub with screenshots. We love seeing that stuff!

Enjoy and as always -- let us know what you think!

P.S. We finally fixed the mouse wheel so you can scroll through your hot bar instead of having to manually punch in numbers like some kind of troglodyte.

New Features and Content
  • “Keepa” mob (warning: rare and elusive!)
  • New crafting component: Arcstones
  • Buff system, including UI indicators for status effects
  • New potions that activate buffs:
    • Health Regeneration Potion
    • Stamina Regeneration Potion
    • Fire Resistance Potion
    • Freeze Resistance Potion
    • Corruption Resistance Potion
  • “Romanesque” crafted blocks:
    • Bedrock Wall
    • Limestone Wall
    • Decorative Limestone Wall
    • Straight Column
    • Spiral Column
    • Pedestal
    • Obsidian Floor
    • Limestone Roof
  • Additional craftable items:
    • Force Bomb
    • Flare (unique recipe reward for validating e-mail address)
    • Arctek Chest
    • Grand Arctek Chest
    • Arc Torch
    • Grand Arc Torch
    • Arc Lantern
    • Grand Arc Lantern
    • Arc Table
    • Advanced Arc Table
    • Grand Arc Table
    • Red Lamp
    • Blue Lamp
    • Yellow Lamp
  • Colorized lighting system
  • New touchstone icon
  • Additional audio and sound effects
  • System for validating an email address with your account

Improvements
  • Improved extractor UI - now allows for partial pick-up of extracted materials
  • Teleporter UI now properly supports drag-and-drop
  • Player’s own touchstone always sorts to the top of the list
  • Improved stack-splitting: right-click with held stack now single-drops.
  • Modified (improved) loot drops for the Thing

Bugfixes
  • Fix for mouse wheel skipping slots
  • Quickbar no longer vanishes when using teleporters / touchstones
  • Significant memory usage improvements
  • General lighting bugfixes
  • Join Worlds “friends” panel updates properly when new world selected
  • Icons restored for corrupted leaves and grass
  • Minor fixes for Rockzilla
  • Max view distance reduced from 15 to 13 for performance

Known Issues
  • Red, Yellow, and Blue Lamp icons may not display properly
  • Death statues may be placed a block or two into the terrain from where death occurred
  • Multiple light sources of different colors may light areas differently depending on the order of placement
  • Slightly slower lighting refresh due to memory improvement changes
  • Slightly more pop-in at distances due to memory improvement changes

Greetings Creatifriends,

First of all, we admit this release is on the lighter side in terms of new features. But we promise to make up for it in R6. In fact, we're really starting to hit our stride here at Playful HQ and anticipate the next few releases will be heavier than usual, so get ready for a bunch of new toys in the sandbox.

In the meantime, there's still some neat stuff to play with this time. You can finally split stacks. Now your buddy has no excuse not to share his stash of vines. You'll also see new and improved art for the loot bag, gauntlet and bombs. And first time players will see a radar on their compass that makes finding that essential first crafting station more obvious.

Thanks again for your continued support of Creativerse! Happy building!

New Features and Content
  • Stack splitting and joining support; stack split: shift-click to pick up single items; right click still moves entire stack
  • New first-time user content: crafting station beacon
  • New loot bag art
  • New gauntlet art
  • New art for grenades / bombs

Improvements
  • Changing a world’s password forces all players to leave the world and re-enter the password
  • 'F' collects and closes stations
  • Underside of liquid surfaces now displays
  • General UI improvements

Bugfixes
  • Foggy days disable directional shadows
  • Multiblock objects now show selection cursor when pointing to top half
  • Upper and lower body animations of player now stay in sync on inventory screen
  • Fix for giant grenades / bombs being stuck to hands in multiplayer
  • Fixed the chat window spontaneously reappearing issue
  • Stability and memory usage improvements

Known Issues
  • The quickbar will often vanish when using teleporters or the touchstone. It will come back if you hit ESC for the options menu or enter your inventory.
  • Stack-splitting and joining is unavailable on the processor and forge screens - it only works on inventory / storage screens (for now).

Hello Creatifriends,

There's a couple cool things to talk about with this release. First, as mentioned earlier, this version has no store or mojo, and we've removed the ability to skip any timers. They are now part of the game and will no longer be tied to pay to play mechanics. To further ensure this feels like a step forward, we've re-balanced all the timers, starting with removing them for the Crafting Station and shortening many of them for the Forge, Processor and Extractor.

And in this release we're replacing a lot of art with a new style we call Arctek. You saw a smidge of this last time with the new teleporters, but you'll see it all over the place this time. Stations, beacons, touchstones, and more have been recalibrated with the new style. Let us know what you think!

Here's all the nitty gritty details you'll notice in this version...

New Features and Content
  • Minimized all timers on crafting station
  • “Finish now” button removed
  • Mojo & Store disabled (temporarily)
  • Substantial art revisions to stations and other objects
  • New corrupted stone wall recipe & block
  • Additional journal and data chip content
  • Additional audio effects
  • New rare loot drops

Improvements
  • Extractor, forge, and processor timers balance overhaul
  • Performance and memory optimizations

Bugfixes
  • Death statue changes to prevent destruction of other entities (like teleporters)
  • Death statue automatically added to inventory when empty (can still be placed back into the world for decoration)
  • Additional inventory loss bulletproofing
  • Drag-and-drop improvements and bulletproofing
  • Inventory and storage panel generally more robust
  • Fix for missing icons and text for corrupted blocks
  • Multiblock support for horizontal multiblocks (notably beds)
  • Light attenuation fix for glass and windows
  • Fix for Mac issue with certain brands of mice
  • Corrupted creatures will now burn in daylight

Known Issues
  • Rapid right-clicking and dragging in inventory or storage screen will leave inventory icons permanently onscreen. Fixed by logging in and out of the world.
  • Still no stack-splitting or stack joining, and still no quickbar available on processor and forge screens. (Next time!)

Happy building!
