A Q&A session on the Eidos Montreal tumblr has turned up a few new details about the upcoming Missing Link DLC for Deus Ex Human Revolution. The new missions will be accessible through a separate shortcut on the main menu, meaning you'll be able to play it whenever you like. You won't have to revisit an earlier save to revisit the point in the story at which the missions take place.

The Missing Link follows Adam's attempt to escape from the Belltower organisation. Kidnapped, augs disabled and shirt stolen, he has to fight his way off the ship he's imprisoned on. The premise is designed to wipe Adam's skill sheet clean, letting players try out the augs they might otherwise avoid.

"The Missing Link is about a fresh start for Adam. New augs, new weapons, new situation as the underdog. Since it is shorter than the main game, THIS is the time to experiment!" writes Eidos Montreal marketing man, David Bedard.

The voices that can be heard in the teaser trailer above also get names. Netanya Keitner and Pieter Burke. They're both Belltower operatives, and most likely Adam's chief captors. Burke is a high ranking member of the organisation, and is described as "one mean son of a bitch."

You won't have to stare at Adam's chest the whole time either. “You do regain your combat garb at some point in the DLC," writes Bedard, "so enjoy those sweet abs while you can!"

The Missing Link will also add "new layers of conspiracy" and feature "sprawling new environments. It's due out before the end of the year. There's no price yet.

But will the colour scheme change to silver and pale blue?

Attention, owners of expensive, hard-to-upgrade aluminium PCs: Square-Enix have just sent word that Deux Ex: Human Revolution is going to be getting a Mac release. It’s due out in “Winter 2011/12″, and London based Feral Interactive are going to be responsible for it. They tackled the Mac ports of the likes of BioShock, Borderlands, Rome: Total War, LEGO Star Wars & Tomb Raider: Anniversary, so I guess they know the ropes. Has anyone played any of their ports? Square Enix have sent over word that their bank accounts have been suddenly augmented by huge sales of the excellent Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Two million "units" have been shipped worldwide. Thanks to a controversy involving Gamestop and some OnLive vouchers inside those copies, many will have been sent straight back, but for the most part that is a large and impressive number. Are you one of the two million? Will you be picking up the Missing Link DLC? If you had the choice, would you replace your regular arms with bionic ones? Let us know in the comments below.
Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

We recently posted the video above as part of one of our end of day links posts. We thought it was just a clever parody of the new Deus Ex, complete with comedy wrist-chisel take downs, yellow object outlines and a sly dig at Human Revolution's extensive web of pre-order bonuses. Now we learn from RPS that the video was in fact a trailer for a full Deus Ex mod, which is out now.

The mod gives JC some Adam Jensen style five o'clock shadow and a pair of AR goggles. Activating these casts the world in a black and gold sheen and outlines objects. The mod also adds iron sights to the assault rifle and fit JC with a pair of arm blades. You can download the mod now from ModDB. You'll need to install a custom DirectX 10 or OpenGL renderer first.

Now You Can Put a Little Human Revolution in Your Deus ExA few days back, Plunkett posted a pretty funny video in which an intreped modder tweaked the original Deus Ex to look a lot more like its current-gen, gold-tinged offspring Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Now, the mod itself is available for download over at ModDB, created and shared by ModDB user "ceski".

I haven't had a chance to fire up the mod yet, and since I've been revisiting Deus Ex unmodded for the Deus Ex Letters (which have hit a delay, but we'll be posting the fourth and final letter next week), I think I'll save it for a bit. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't get to have some fun—go ahead and fire up your golden AR goggles, look down your iron sights, and save Tracer Tong from the NSF, Adam Denton/JC Jensen style.

Woah, "JC Jensen" sounds like the star of a bad 80's flick. A bad 80's flick that I would totally watch.

Jesus Christ, Denton

You there! Remember the parody video in which the likes of DLC references, object highlighting and iron sights from Human Revolution were added to the original Deus Ex, and how even-tempered everyone was about it? Well, now you can recreate that past-meets-present, JC/AJ mash-up yourself, as creator Ceski has released the mod he made to achieve the video.

Also includes instant wristblade takedowns (press use when behind an enemy), regenerating health and a surfeit of black and gold. Grab Deus Ex: Unreal Revolution from here.

The Deus Ex: Human Revolution DLC, the Missing Link, has gotten a trailer and some screenshots. The trailer depicts Adam Jensen getting pretty badly beaten up by his captors, having apparently failed to save some civilians, while the screens include an extreme close up of a mysterious glowing red eye. We'll know more when the DLC arrives in October.

He's leaking.

The order in which information arrives is very confusing. Everyone heard about Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s The Missing Link DLC earlier this week, and today Square have officially announced it. But that means we also get pictures and a video. I’ve augmented the post with the details below. Do you see? I said “augmented the post”. Because in Deus Ex you augment yourself with augments, and so in saying “augmented the post” I’m applying that theme to a piece of writing about the game. It’s a bit of wordplay.

The Human Revolution continues in October, as Adam Jensen finds himself stripped of his augmentations in The Missing Link downloadable content.

Adam Jensen disappears for three days during the course of Deus Ex: Human Revolution's conspiracy-rich story. Where did he go? What did he do? What happened to his augmentations?

The answer to that last question is they were somehow stripped away, giving players the ability to rebuild their augmentation set completely. Jensen finds himself tortured brutally by Belltower agents and trapped on a freighter heading to an unknown destination. The conspiracy deepens and new characters step into the light.

"We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to further develop Adam's journey in the game with The Missing Link DLC," said David Anfossi, producer of Deus Ex: Human Revolution at Eidos-Montreal. "Gamers will be able to experience a vulnerable side of Adam like never before, which gives the overall game a whole new dimension. The Missing Link propels players into compelling gameplay, beginning with Adam being temporarily stripped of his use of augmentations; new, visually stunning environments; and the continuation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution's conspiracy-rich story."

More Deus Ex: Human Revolution is definitely a good thing. Look for The Missing Link in October.
