Update: Hello Games have announced the Vision update will land this Thursday, the 22nd. You can read the (exceedingly pretty) patch notes here.>
Hang on, I’m getting a vision of something. I see… I see a more varied No Man’s Sky, with properly alien aliens and five new planetary biomes. I see cool derelict spaceships, ancient buried skeletons and launchable fireworks. I see double rainbows, all the way across the sky.
I see the new trailer for Visions, an upcoming update that seems to have leaked from Hello Games.
Update: Hello Games has officially announced Visions, another large update for its massive interstellar romp, No Man's Sky. It's also coming very soon. Sean Murray posted the trailer in a tweet today, along with a release date. It will launch tomorrow, bringing salvaging, archaeology, new worlds and, most importantly, rainbows to No Man's Sky.
Original story: Hello Games is preparing to roll out the third No Man's Sky update for the year in the form of 'Visions'. While it's not yet officially announced by the studio, an unlisted video has emerged on YouTube detailing the many updates and additions the expansion will deliver.
The biggest focus is on environment diversity. "Exotic new worlds make exploration more exciting than ever," claims the trailer, while existing planets will be more "varied, vibrant and colourful". The trailer features the text "5x planetary biomes", but I'm not sure whether that means there are five times more than there used to be, or just five more.
Also, folks: there will be rainbows. But if rainbows are too nice for you, expect harsher environments and climates where "precious new materials" can be foraged. Skies and "atmospherics" are being improved, too, and there will be more numerous anomalous planets.
It's not all about looks. You'll be able to dig for rare alien skeleton remains, and you'll also be able to collect rare alien artefacts with which you can decorate your base. On that note, there will be more base parts added, and you'll be able to construct celebratory fireworks too.
Some other major points include "bizarre and otherworldly" new lifeforms, procedural crashed freighters, corrupt sentinel drones, community missions, new emotes and salvageable alien scrap.
There's no word as yet on when the update will roll out. It follows the release of Next back in July, which was one of the most comprehensive updates the game has received yet.

UPDATE 21/11/18: In case you had any doubt of its veracity, Hello Games has confirmed that No Man's Sky's previously leaked Visions update is indeed a thing that is coming. And, better yet, it's a thing that's coming tomorrow, Thursday 22nd November, on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
Based on Hello Games' announcement, there's not a lot to add that wasn't already in yesterday's leaked trailer. However, it's well worth changing out the official Visions patch notes on the No Man's Sky website, as they contain a huge number of screenshots, and some more granular detail, illustrating the increased variety that tomorrow's update will bring.
ORIGINAL STORY 20/11/18: Visions, a big new update for Hello Games' interplanetary exploration adventure No Man's Sky, has been inadvertently revealed after fans discovered an unlisted new trailer on the developer's official YouTube channel.

Sci-fi sandbox No Man's Sky has just received its latest big update, The Abyss, which focuses on underwater gameplay.
For this update, developer Hello Games has implemented a new submersible craft, the Nautilon, plus improved underwater visuals, exploration amd building. Now is the time to realise your dream of building an aquatic utopia - because when has that ever gone wrong?
Intriguingly, there's a "dark" new narrative to uncover named The Dreams of the Deep.
I’m always touched to receive e-mails imploring me to “Get in the [flipping] sea,” sent by fans who know there’s nowhere I’m happier than in that deep blue. I’m glad to hear that No Man’s Sky players today get to enjoy more life aquatic, with the latest major free update focusing on improving oceans. ‘The Abyss’, as version 1.7 is nicknamed, overhauls and expands ocean biomes with more varied life, boshes in new building modules for sea bases, slips in a submarine, lets us keep aquariums with sealife we find, and new wrecks and stories under the sea. It really is better down where it’s wetter, you know.
