FaceRig - Jujubi, Minion of Machy
Hello Awesome Folks,

As we promised you in Tuesday's announcement (if you've missed it, you can read it here http://steamcommunity.com/games/274920/announcements/detail/130958205702822635), it's time to update the Default branch! The build currently located on the "Default" branch will move to "previousversion".

Both the Default branch and "nextversion" branch are getting an update :D Here is the changelog below

WARNING: This update comes with a NEW version of the FaceRig Virtual Webcam Driver. If you are not prompted to install/reinstall this, you will have to manually do this.
You can find the driver in <steam install directory>\steamapps\common\FaceRig\Bin\prerequisites\FaceVirtualCamDriver.
Rightclick the right installer for your system (and if you have Windows 10, use the Windows 8 one) and select run as administrator.
To uninstall the previous version, go to Programs and Features in Control Panel.
The correct version you want to be displayed next to the FaceRig Virtual Video driver is 1.0.1.1000

FaceRig v1.122 (build 655 Holotech Studios - Sep 17 2015) - default branch
  • Added vibrato, tremolo, distortion and echo voice effects. Can be found in Voice Processing dialog > Misc Effects tab. There is no limit to the number of effects added (also, same effects can be chained with different parameters), but will affect CPU usage.
  • there was a Virtual Camera issue, closing the app while the virtual cam was open would bug it, subsequent broadcast requests from the app would not be processed until restarted. The new update should start the installation of the new version of the FaceRig Virtual Camera. In case issues appear after the update, please make sure to install the drivers by hand before heading to Steam forums. Drivers can be found at: <steamInstallDir>\steamapps\common\FaceRig\Bin\prerequisites\FaceRigVirtualCamera\FaceRigVirtualCamDriver_
  • .exe, use FaceRigVirtualCamDriver_win7.exe for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 and FaceRigVirtualCamDriver_win8.exe for Windows 8+.
  • Added Facebook share feature to all screenshots. After you take a screenshot from FaceRig (see Screenshot button on the top bar in the Advanced UI), the path to the image file is present in the notification center on the bottom (open by clicking the down arrow present on the bottom of the screen). Share-able items (screenshots) have a share button attached. Clicking the share button will open the default browser and will try posting the item on your Facebook page. Mind that on some browsers (even on Chrome), pop-up blockers will stop the Facebook login/approval, thus the screenshot will not be posted. Turn off the pop-up blocker for facerig.com and refresh the page. After the picture has been uploaded and posted to Facebook, you will be redirected to your personal Facebook feed.
  • added checks to see if user's GPU supports DX11, if not the application will exit gracefully and will suggest you to switch to DX9 mode from the launcher
    tweaked props default placement
  • re-integrated ULSee 1.1 tracker
  • (UI) UI resizes with the render resolution, so it should look more crisp at resolutions larger than 1280x720
  • (UI) overall graphics adjustments, should look more crisp
  • (UI) the PiP mode icon has changed

FaceRig v1.122 (build 655 Holotech Studios - Sep 17 2015) - nextversion branch only
  • (UI) added skin mini-gallery for all avatars
  • some CPU usage optimization when user's face is not in camera view
  • fixed export movie issue (from the Advanced UI)
  • various tweaks and fixed to the UI
  • added two new avatars: Generic Male and Female

Now, I'm sure some of you will ask "Why not an otter? Or a demon? Why not something super cute or uber scary?"
Well, John and Jane, the two "generic" avatars we added in this update are meant to serve multiple purposes:
  1. offer those of you who wish to have a serious conference call/make content a normal human that isn't a Youtube personality or an elf/commander of an elite ops force or an alien!
  2. slowly introduce our community to modding! Yes, modding. Since we had quite a few requests from you to make a normal human for you to attach hair/clothes to, we are taking the 1st step in this direction.

John and Jane are the 1st iterations of the avatars whose sources will be released to our users (Full body, no clothes, no hair; basic hair will be provided as a prop) for them to modify to their liking. This will also enable the content creators who are currently making props but not full avatars to further dive into modding an avatar by making hair and clothes!
If you are wondering about how to switch between those three branches here are the steps:
  • Open Steam Client. Go to Library -> Software
  • Right mouse click on FaceRig -> Properties
  • Go to BETAS tab, click in the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" drop down, select "nextversion" or" previousversion" or "opt out" if you want to go back to default.
  • Close window. The FaceRig program will update to the desired branch.

Updates should go live tonight (within the next hours).

Let us know how you like this update and make sure to post on our Steam discussion boards if you run into any issues;)

Late Edit: Make sure you check out our Facebook Selfie contest if you or a friend feel like winning some cool prizes :D

Have a good one,
The FaceRig Team

Hello Awesome People,

As some of you may know, FaceRig is in continuous development, despite it having exited its Early Access on Steam. With each iteration, we strive to offer our users with an increasingly improved experience.

In case you are not familiar with FaceRig's build branch system, you can read about it in this forum post http://steamcommunity.com/app/274920/discussions/0/523890046872944000/

Since the "nextversion" build is currently what we consider to be a stable and improved version, we are getting ready to make this the Default branch. At the same time, the "previousversion" build will be updated to the version currently on the Default branch.
  • When will this happen?
This awesome event will take place this Thursday, September 17.
  • Why is this so awesome?
Because a lot of you using the Default branch will get some pretty cool updates that are currently only on the "nextversion" branch.
  • Like what?
Facebook share! Yes, the "nextversion" branch has a Facebook sharing system implemented that allows you to share your screenshots directly onto your Facebook timeline if you wish to do so.
  • What can you do to help us (and yourselves)?
You can switch to the "nextversion" branch before the big change and see if there is anything we missed so we can deploy any fixes before this branch becomes Default. Why? Because no matter how stable we deem the "nextversion" branch, there can always be a couple of surprises when migrating it to the Default branch as a result to a *way* higher number of people using this branch.
  • What happens to the current Default branch?
It gets moved to the "previousversion" branch so you can still have access to the old version if for some reason you don't like the 1.1 update and had an event planned.

Again, if you require more info on our branching system and how to switch between branches, read more here http://steamcommunity.com/app/274920/discussions/0/523890046872944000/

WARNING: The "nextversion" comes with a NEW version of the FaceRig Virtual Webcam Driver. If you are not prompted to install/reinstall this, you will have to manually do this.
You can find the driver in <steam install directory>\steamapps\common\FaceRig\Bin\prerequisites\FaceVirtualCamDriver.

To uninstall the previous version, go to Programs and Features in Control Panel.
The correct version you want to be displayed next to the FaceRig Virtual Video driver is 1.0.1.1000

But that's not all of it!
You can expect a couple of new and shiny avatars this Thursday. Wonder if anyone can guess what these are...

Hello Awesome People,

FaceRig’s Steam Anniversary (29th August) is closing in fast and we figured we’d take this opportunity to thank our wonderful community for not only believing in us, but also supporting our project through all its stages (our IGG campaign, early access and live).

In order to celebrate our upcoming anniversary, we've set up a Steam Daily Deal! FaceRig and all of its DLCs are 40% off, starting with the 26'th of August, for the next 48h :D.
[Edit]: The offer period has now ended :).

We also want to do a special edition of our Dev Bits for this special occasion. We’ll be answering the most interesting questions and discussing suggestions:)
Don't be afraid to be serious or get creative and whaky. Or both! Top questions will be awarded a FaceRig key.

Ask us questions here or on any of our social media platforms or through email at info[at]facerig[dot]com. Our team will answer the selected questions in our Dev Bits anniversary edition!

Edit: Thank you for all the questions! Video is in the making :D We'll announce winners this weekend.

Hello Awesome people

We're happy to present two new free avatars :)

One of them is an avatar portraying an animated version of the Youtuber Daz Black. You might know him for his awesome Tea Party hat (yes, it's in the avatar model!) and might have seen a sneak peek of the avatar in one of his videos :)

The second avatar we are hyped to present is Natsuko, Midori's older sister! Here's a short preview of Natsuko. After watching it, don't forget to update your version of FaceRig so you can play with her :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lZ35EmpCS4
We have quite a few things we're working on right now but some of them might take a bit of time to finalize. If you'd like to have a peek into our artist's workspace, let us know and we'll see what we can do about it.

Late edit:
We're had quite a few excited users emailing us and asking if we could let them modify the newest addition to the FaceRig avatar collection, Natsuko, to further serve their creative needs.

As a result of this, we've uploaded the source file for this avatar for our community content creators to have fun with :D

Have fun modding and remember to email our artists at artsupport[at]holotech[dot]eu if you run into any issues ;)
