We are excited to announce the arrival of update 1.42 for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator!
We'd like to thank all those who took part in the 1.42 Open Beta, made bug reports, and provided general feedback on this new version. Whilst our updates usually feature many new changes, this update is focused more on introducing a new and substantial feature to our Convoy online multiplayer mode alongside some smaller updates and general fixes.
So without further ado, let's take a look at what the 1.42 update has in store!
Convoy MOD Support
Support for third-party modifications in Convoy was a very frequent request from our community when we first released our multiplayer mode. Since then, our teams have made it a high priority on their list to support the use of MODs.
However, this was not an easy task for our team, especially when it came to the challenge of profile recovery when a crucial MOD is removed or changed, and visualizing what MODs are missing from the Steam Workshop when players join a server that contains modifications. We have done our best to overcome these hurdles; however, there may be a few things that might need tweaking and changing before we are fully satisfied with the results.
We have also created a completely new UI to accommodate MOD support. When you enter the session browser, you will see a new section on the right side listing the MOD compatibility requirements for the server. We have also included new icons for servers to let you know which servers have MODs enabled and which do not.
Session names in screenshots are blurred for privacy reasons.
Previously, next to the server session, we indicated if you could or could not join the server using a red or green icon depending on if the session was full or due to problems with map compatibility or even with different game version numbers. We have now introduced an orange icon, which indicates you cannot join the server now, but via the new MOD synchronization UI, you can download the missing modifications and join then!
If a modification is missing and it is available via the Steam Workshop, you will be able to download it via the Steam browser which will be overlaid in-game, so you do not need to exit the game to subscribe to it. This will be accessible via a new window that opens when you try to join a session where you have some missing MODs. This window will show you all your currently active modifications on the left side and all the modifications the server is using on the right side.
Session names in screenshots are blurred for privacy reasons.
If the server is using a modification that is NOT available on the Steam Workshop and downloaded via a third-party site, then you will need to source the modification yourself. Unfortunately, our system will not be able to check what version of the modification the server has or where it is sourced. Once you have everything required by the server, the confirm button will become available and you will be able to join the session.
We expect a majority of popular modifications to work from the get-go with this update, however, there may be some compatibility issues with others.
At this time, a convoy session will only allow for a maximum of 70 modifications during a session. We understand that a smaller percentage of our community may use more than this number and we will continue to monitor feedback made across our social media channels to tweak and make adjustments in the future if we see it necessary.
MOD authors please be aware that some modifications will require some adjustments to work properly in Convoy. Sound modifications will be heard locally by the user, but other players will not hear them as remote trucks use a simpler soundbank (or they may just hear default truck sounds) if the modification is not configured to do so. Vehicles, Trailers, and Cargo modifications must also include proper traffic models for other players to see and interact with.
Our teams will continue working hard to overcome the difficulties that may come with using third-party modifications in the convoy mode. Your help and contributions during the Open Beta have been extremely valuable to our teams, so please continue to submit your bug reports and feedback onto the appropriate sections of our forums (ETS2/ATS).
We look forward to seeing the many wonderful and creative MODs that will be used whilst convoying together with friends! We also plan to release a new FAQ in the future with more up-to-date information as we continue to work on the Convoy feature. You can find our first Convoy FAQ blog here, which answers the community's most popular questions!
Third-party modifications were used to create illustrative screenshots for this blog article. By choosing these publicly available MODs to make such screenshots we make no claim or endorsement of any kind that these MODs or their authors are officially supported, recognized, preferred, or recommended by SCS Software.
Force Feedback Update
1.42 also brings an update to our Force Feedback profiles for steering wheels and controllers which are compatible with Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
The new FFB has been written from scratch and utilizes a 120 Hz refresh rate, independent from the main game loop. It combines some of the old artificial effects with the new centering and tire friction force feedback, which is based on real calculations from forces on the first steering axle and simulates the behavior of a hydraulic steering gear system used in most of today's trucks. This brings a more realistic and immersive feedback experience for our players!
We highly recommended resetting your Force Feedback settings to their new defaults.
We recently released a detailed FAQ blog about this update which answers some of your most asked questions about this update and goes more into depth about the topic of this update. If you missed that, you can take a read of that here!

Each October, many charities around the world organize various events in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Due to the support and consequential impact of these activities, "Pinktober" has become an immensely important tradition. This idea is usually represented by the Pink Ribbon, which has become a symbol of hope and a reminder to promote and share the necessary health information.
Throughout the whole year, we have been collecting the income from these DLCs and now we are getting everything ready to donate the final amount to some of the Breast Cancer charities, just like we did last year and the year before.
At the end of the month, we will release another blog post, in which we will announce how much money has been collected. This amount will be donated to the following 4 charities:
Rest assured, we are always looking for the right opportunities to extend this list in the future! Until then, if you’d like to support a good cause and obtain some new paint jobs for your trucks, now is the perfect opportunity to get these two DLCs or gift them to a friend and contribute to the battle against Breast Cancer. And in case you and your friends already own these DLCs, you can spread awareness by decorating your trucks in these paint jobs, and haul with pride while letting others know about this good cause by flooding social media with screenshots of your trucks under #Pinktober2021.
Additionally, don’t forget to actively do everything you can to remain healthy and to keep regular medical checks in mind. Apart from not feeling shy to visit the doctor if something doesn’t feel right, make sure your loved ones are having regular checks, and most importantly, there are numerous health checks you can do by yourself, to help you stay safe. After all, health always comes first and it is definitely one of the most important aspects of human lives that should not simply be ignored!
And finally, you can catch us live on Thursday 14th of October on our Twitch and Youtube for a special stream dedicated to #Pinktober2021. Come hang out with us in the chat and help us spread the word!
Due to the vastness and diversity of Texas, it is virtually impossible to wrap up and put all the information about the local nature in only one blog post. That's why we decided to divide this topic into multiple dedicated blog posts. In today's, we start our presentation with the seemingly infinite plains, fields, and meadows, that stretch across most of this massive state.
The land of Texas consists of numerous enormous regions, from which some are more fertile than the others, but in the end, all are home to different flora and wildlife. When driving through these areas you may be able to recognize animals you have passed by on your previous journeys - such as deer, cows, or horses. However, this time you will also have a chance to spot numerous new road signs that warn about snakes! And while the actual snakes are not guaranteed to be seen, the signs are definitely one of the reasons why this state feels so unique.
The local plains are historically a part of many myths and legends, and you can be sure to feel their magic as well while driving on the roads that are surrounded by these lands. After all, Texas boasts a size of 268,596 square miles (695,662 sq km), so you will certainly have a lot of natural beauty to look forward to.
Whether you fancy meadows full of wildlife or empty fields with a view far into the distance, you can experience all this and more in the upcoming Texas DLC. And if you cannot wait for more information regarding the nature of the Lone Star State, make sure to add the map expansion to your Steam Wishlist and you will stay in touch with all the latest news!
We love to bring you new game updates, especially ones that have been highly requested by our community! Today, we are happy to share with you that the 1.42 update is now in Open Beta for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator and is ready to be tried and tested by you, our #BestCommunityEver.
Please keep in mind that this Open Beta is a work-in-progress build. If you plan on participating in this Open Beta, you can contribute by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums. Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable for our team and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us out.
Whilst our updates usually feature many new updates and changes, this update is focused more on introducing one new and big feature to our Convoy online multiplayer mode alongside some smaller updates and general fixes. With that in mind, let's take a look at what the 1.42 update has in store!

We expect a majority of popular modifications to work from the get-go with this update, however, there may be some compatibility issues with others. Also, in some rare situations, using MODs in Convoy sessions during Open Beta might lead to corrupted profile saves. It is recommended to backup your profile data before switching to this beta branch. However, may you encounter a situation where your saves or profile gets corrupted or damaged, we really need you to report this to us with as detailed feedback as possible on our forum (ETS2/ATS).
MOD authors please be aware that some modifications will require some adjustments to work properly in Convoy. We look forward to seeing the many wonderful and creative MODs that will be used whilst convoying together with friends! We also plan to release a new FAQ in the future with more up-to-date information as we continue to work on the Convoy feature. Force Feedback Update
1.42 also brings an update to our Force Feedback profiles for steering wheels and controllers which are compatible with Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
However, our QA doesn't have access to all the various controllers on the market, so during this Open Beta, we ask that you help us by submitting your feedback along with information about the wheel you are using. This will significantly help us make tweaks and changes so that all wheel users can benefit from this update.

With the recent release of Wyoming for American Truck Simulator, we have been flooded with various feedback coming from all over the world and all kinds of platforms.
Today, we’ll present to you some of this feedback, starting with the opinions of some of our favorite content creators, who have been busier than ever, recording and streaming their journeys in this new state. We truly appreciate these creators telling us about their experience and we’re excited to share with you what they had to say about the latest map expansion!
"Wyoming is packed with detail and surprises in every town. The first thing I noticed about the new map is the large area in the northwest corner, there was no city or delivery points. The map team built this huge area just to explore Yellowstone. They did not have to put a purely recreational section on the map but they did it anyway, and it's beautiful! While driving between cities, there is detail in the distance and close by to make every drive feel like there is something new. The landmarks and places of interest in cities and even truck stops are just like they are in real life! They really captured the atmosphere of Wyoming." - Ryastream
"WOW, just WOW *stares out the window* OKAY! It’s time to keep your eyes on the road! With plenty of roads to explore, you’ll definitely see lots of different terrains and scenery that Wyoming has to offer. There is plenty to do here too, from visiting landmarks, cities, viewpoints and cattle farms, and much more! After traveling around for 10 hours or so, I feel like there is still much more out there to find, including working on those new achievements. SCS Software has done a fantastic job with this DLC and the attention to detail is fantastic." -
"Fancy exploring a new state in American Truck Simulator? Wyoming has countless awe-inspiring natural wonders. Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Bighorn National Parks will leave you staggered. Devils Tower, Hell’s Half Acre, and Flaming Gorge Dam are some of the coolest landmarks I have ever seen in ATS. The DLC is abundant in small challenging roads, including a thrilling under-construction road in US-287; along with numerous state-of-the-art company depots. I highly recommend this DLC to all the ATS players; I can assure you that you will not regret it." - A. P. 101 Gaming
"Let’s just start off by saying that Wyoming was way more enjoyable than I expected. I have not personally been there but there are those who said that the map was “Spot on”. I had a wonderful time driving through the mountains and open terrains. The details of textures are amazing and it has a realistic feel to it. There are plenty of rest stops and most come with a beautiful view. I plan on opening every viewpoint because the one near the Devil’s Tower absolutely blew me away. THANK YOU for adding Livestock! Being a country girl, this was a great addition." -
"The moment I crossed the Wyoming border, I immediately started noticing the little details SCS put in, and as an outsider being able to catch all these things, that is saying a lot. It truly is a fully immersive experience. Even my community members who are locals of Wyoming are impressed by the accuracy of the new areas. Great job SCS. Thank you for pouring so much hard work into this DLC. It definitely shows!"[/i] - The Clumsy Geek
"From state to state, I am amazed at the quality and quantity of work that the mapper teams do. In a frankly small area, everything that is in the real state of Wyoming was recreated. Each region of the state has its own climate, its own vegetation, and its own "places of power". In the south, the climate is arid, there are not many plants and grass, especially noticeable on the border with the state of Utah. Majestic mountains, wide plains, vast agricultural land... Pure nature. And don't be afraid of the Bison, they are cute." - TheAlive55
"The Wyoming DLC is really, really nice. I am always surprised by how great the developers from SCS Software can create landscapes. The attention to the details, even in this map expansion, is absolutely breathtaking!" - Chris Maximus
But our #BestCommunityEver consists of many more other members. Our social media channels have been filled to the brim with photos & videos from your first journey in this new state. We love looking through them during the workday and we even share them with each other across our internal channels. You can continue to send us your screenshots and videos from Wyoming on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the hashtag #ThatsWY.
We have also received an overwhelming amount of positive reviews on our Steam Page. To everyone who takes the time to write reviews and give constructive criticism about Wyoming, thank you! Here are just a few of our favorites! If you would like to leave a review, be sure to do so at the Wyoming Steam Store Page.
However, Wyoming hasn't just gotten attention in the form of community-created content, but also from official press coverage, such as this fantastic review article from PCInvasion. We highly recommend giving them a read if you are still unsure if Wyoming is worth the trip in American Truck Simulator.
We are extremely grateful for the general feedback and we appreciate the support of the #BestCommunityEver. Our developers are always doing their best to transform their passion into game design, and it is truly encouraging to read this type of feedback. Thank you all very much!

Learn more about the rules in yesterday's blog post and take part in #CruisingWyoming at WorldofTrucks.com. We'd love to see your photos across our Social Media channels using the hashtag!
We expect to have this event available to players for an extended period of time, probably way beyond the point of reaching the community goal. We don't want to motivate you to rush through the DLC in a hurry to make sure you manage to obtain the personal achievement. We simply want to reward early adopters of the DLC for spending quality time with the new content.
Speaking of rewards, all truckers in Wyoming are eligible to receive a special cabin accessory, a Triceratops plush toy! To earn this unique reward, simply take any External Contract or External Market job to or from the city of Gillette. Why this city specifically you may ask? Believe it or not, paleontologists digging in northeastern Wyoming (so near Gillette) have uncovered fossilized remains of three triceratopses - possibly the most complete specimens of the dinosaurs yet found! So be sure to claim your part of prehistoric history for your cabin.
We will also be hosting a special Wyoming release live stream across official Steam & Twitch channels starting at 16:00 CEST. Don't miss out on this broadcast as we talk with Davido (DLC Lead) PLUS a special guest appearance from Pavel Šebor CEO of SCS Software! We will be answering questions from the community, talking in-depth about the DLC, giving away free Wyoming Steam keys and of course, releasing the highly anticipated map expansion LIVE on stream!
We hope you'll enjoy exploring what Wyoming has to offer! We will see you on the roads.
Help us celebrate tomorrow, September 7th, as we release our new Wyoming DLC, by taking part in our latest World Of Trucks event - Cruising Wyoming! Journey through this dynamic and awe-inspiring state of wild beauty, dominated by the Rocky Mountain rangelands and High Plains, while contributing to its rich economy.
We are asking our #BestCommunityEver to achieve the community goal of driving 80,000,000 miles (128,747,520 km) while delivering cargoes to or from any city in Wyoming.
While you are #CrusingWyoming, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in some of its key industries, transporting cargoes such as livestock and agriculture products, as well as materials that support the rail, mineral, mining, and chemical industries. Wyoming also offers plenty of new viewing platforms, designed with bespoke cinematic cutscenes, highlighting the attractions of that area. Some of these are:
Big Horn National Forest, the Bighorn Mountains are a sister range of the Rocky Mountains.
Grand Teton National Park, described as Mountains of the Imagination.
Devils Tower, standing nearly 900 feet tall, is a popular tourist and climbing attraction.
Hell's Half Acre, a geologic curiosity composed of deep ravines, caves, rock formations, and eroded earth.
And, once again, you can use your own trailer during all of this in the external market!
Wyoming DLC has 10 terrific new cities to visit, and we are offering a special reward for completing your personal goal, which will require you to deliver a job to or from each of them. All jobs for the event need to be 100 miles each (161 km) or more and don't forget to check out the rules.
Wyoming, The Equality State, is our latest addition to American Truck Simulator. Know that as you fuel up and prepare for this new adventure, we'll be right there with you in spirit. We're really looking forward to learning about your journeys in this amazingly wild, diverse, and beautiful state.
Rules Using External Contracts or the External Market, with a World of Trucks-connected profile in American Truck Simulator, the community goal is to drive 80,000,000 miles (128,747,520 km) while delivering cargoes to or from any city in Wyoming.
When a player completes delivery to or from each of the 10 Wyoming cities, they will achieve their personal goal.
All jobs for the event need to be at least 100 miles each (161 km), or more.
You can check if your recent deliveries met these conditions using your Log Book in your World of Trucks profile.
Rewards: Personal goal: Players that deliver cargo to or from each of the 10 Wyoming cities will gain a personal World of Trucks Achievement and a beautiful Wyoming Bison-themed ATS truck paint job Steam inventory item.

American Truck Simulator - Avi the Raccoon Enjoyer
One of the nicknames that we have yet to mention when talking about the state that will be arriving in the upcoming map expansion is "Big Wyoming". While Wyoming has earned this nickname due to its 10th largest area by landmass out of all 50 states, today we will do our best to make fans of this particular nickname proud in our own way and share with you some BIG news regarding the new DLC.
What could possibly be so big to justify us writing such an introduction? First of all, with the release of the new map expansion, new content is coming to the Special Transport DLC as well! With the intention of enhancing your experience as much as possible, our team managed to find the time to bring these three Special Transport routes to Wyoming that you can look forward to conquering:
Riverton to Jackson (Yellowstone) Laramie to Rawlins Casper to Gillette
Secondly, perhaps it's time to admit to some "heavy conversation" we had internally over an aspect of the DLC. With a somewhat heavy heart, originally we had not planned to include the Yellowstone National Park, as it's not open to trucks for through traffic. But as the release got closer, we have started receiving more and more input from the fan community suggesting that we should reconsider. Eventually, we decided that we should add an extra couple of weeks of production time and figure out a way for players to access the region. You may have noticed a small "confirmation" on our message board for all the speculations on the inclusion of Yellowstone as posted here.
In the real world, semi-trucks are prohibited from passing through the national park, the region is protected from heavy traffic. But surely, there may be valid reasons for specific cargo to get in or out of the park when needed, possibly with a special permit issued by an appropriate local government agency. So while our in-game navigation should never route you through the park on long-haul jobs, we decided that we a bit of an artistic license we can deliver specific cargoes in or out of Yellowstone.
In the initial implementation, we are going to cover only a part of the national park, though it's quite likely that eventually, we may look into extending at least Road 89 towards Montana when the time is right. For players who want to explore Yellowstone, you may take advantage of one of the Special Transport options, where the regional authority will task you with delivering a large helicopter of the type used to fight wildfires.
Hopefully, you’ve already seen our official announcement of the release date for Wyoming DLC. If by any chance you’ve missed it, you can visit the blog post which also features an absolutely marvelous video trailer, and don’t forget to add Wyoming to your Steam wishlist once you check it all out!
