Lambda Wars has taken thé next step on Discord. Namely, one of our Management personnel (Wrench) has applied to join the Hypesquad, and has been fully accepted!

What does this mean?

The Hypesquad receives various amounts of perks. Such as the ability to represent Discord Hypesquad during events, including goodies and shirts! This may seem like it isn't of use to us, but Discord is used by a LARGE amount of the populace, and it can help us gain many more members on our Discord server.

Lambda Wars has been presented at two events so far. One was called "White Nights" and the other one was "VK fest" (fest for "festival"), a huge event held in St. Petersburg, Russia. St. Petersburg being the utmost sunny city in the world (actually it's quite the opposite, but whatever).

More than 80 000 visitors attended the festival and more than 1.500.000 viewers watching the festival online. That's quite the big number.

This doesn't necessarily mean that there will be a lot more players seen in the game - most of the visitors didn't come there specifically for videogames. There were many areas or sections to see: YouTubers, TV stars, concerts (lots of concerts), Food, sports, music, places of attraction, bloggers, etc. with videogames being one of them.

But.

This does certainly mean that LW is moving in the right direction.

Lambda Wars has finally seen its very first tournament in my pressence.










Unfortunately our router was crap and even LAN connection could not be stabilized. This brought us to hosting single-player Overrun games, where the winner was the one who survived longest.
By the way, the Top-3 won Lambda Wars themed T-Shirts!
(damn were they expensive to make though... I need donations for all that stuff ːsteamsadː:squirtmeh:)
It was all worth it.

Also please keep in mind that these T-shirts were not sold, but simply won at the tournament. What I'm trying to say is we were not allowed to sell anything at the festival. Besides, we won't be doing any merch since all the characters plus lambda logo is all Valve's intellectual property. Just to clarify.)

Lambda Wars was in the section of "INDIE" games. Sadly, our INDIE tent didn't get as many visitors as our neighbours, especially the one hosting Dota 2 tournaments. Oh well. Hopefully some bloggers and streamers did have a peek though :).

As those who are in our Discord might have noticed, I have been extremely absent for these past few weeks. I want to get into this a bit more in-depth.

First, allow me to say that I enjoy my newfound position in the management of Vortal Storm as an organisation, rather than Lambda Wars as a game. Obviously, I've delegated certain tasks previously natural to me, such as making these announcements. However, in the recent absence of our Community Manager, I have decided to do this one.

The second thing I'd like to say is that we all appreciate your suggestions extremely for the game, and we do speak of them oftenly to see what can and cannot be done for the game. We notice an increasing trend towards the Steam Discussion Hub and the enthusiasm to help develop this game, and all of you have our gratitude for being so forthcoming and involved in the project.

Now then, onto the exciting part of this announcement;

As those who are in the Discord, and those that have liked the Facebook might have noticed, Vortal Storm got itself a sister organisation/business, namely Vortal Storm Hosting.

I have taken it upon me to run this venture, given my prior experience in running and operating these kind of businesses, as its Managing Director. I work closely with a team of talented volunteers who wanted to put their skills to good use for an upstart business.

We currently offer Game Servers (Including Lambda Wars servers!) starting as cheap as $1,50. We are looking to expand our range of games and services in the foreseeable future however.

This hub is usually meant and reserved for updates that are of importance to the game, but I feel like this is an important milestone for the organisation, and in turn the game by offering dedicated hosting without having to arrange this yourself, so it involves Lambda Wars to some degree. ː2017stickysquirtː

Alas, I feel I've droned on long enough with this announcement.

As you undoubtedly noticed, we launched our new forum version some months ago, in the hopes it revitalised the forum structure we wanted to use.

However, over the months we have noticed a lot of people still prefer the Steam Discussion Hub to put their thoughts and bugs in. As unfortunate as that is, that means the shutdown of our forumv2, and the old forums will remain there to await new activation when we are ready to do so.

We're sorry to anyone who wanted to use the forums but didn't get to fully experience the idea we had in mind.
